From Bihar to Kashmir: This CRPF man with melodious voice captivates audiences

Bandipora, May 03: For several years, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel stationed in the North Kashmir’s Bandipora district has been captivating audiences with his enchanting voice. Of late, he has taken the social media by a storm by singing Kashmiri songs in his melodious voice.

Mrityunjay, who originates from Bihar, has been stationed at the 3rd Battalion of CRPF in Bandipora for the past four years. He has won over crowds with his soulful voice at numerous official functions and celebrations, including Republic Day and Independence Day.

In addition to singing in Hindi, Mrityunjay has gained recognition for his performances in the Kashmiri language as well. He recently sang a Kashmiri song during an official function, which was received with rapturous applause from the audience, resulting in a standing ovation.

According to Mrityunjay, he has made a conscientious effort to immerse himself in the culture of Kashmir, and has learned to sing Kashmiri songs in order to showcase them to the people. He shared that when he arrived in Kashmir, he was struck by the beauty and emotional depth of Kashmiri music.

“I studied them meticulously and practiced until I felt confident enough to perform them without any hesitation or error,” he told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). “I have a particular fondness for Kashmiri folk songs because of their captivating melodies and poignant lyrics. In fact, this was the primary reason why I was so eager to learn the Kashmiri language.”

It was on Independence Day in 2020 that Mrityunjay first caught the attention of the public, when a brief video clip of him singing the famous Kashmiri song “Nigaaro” was shared on Facebook. His performance was met with widespread acclaim online, with many praising his melodious voice and undeniable talent.

“I have always found inspiration in Kashmiri songs, to the point where I find myself constantly humming their melodies,” he shared. While Mrityunjay has experience singing in various languages, he admits that he feels a special connection to Kashmiri music.

As the head of the CRPF band in Bandipora, he and his team performs at numerous events throughout the year, particularly on Independence Day and Republic Day eves. Vipul Shah: ‘The Kerala Story’ aims to become voice of thousands of women

Mumbai: Film director and producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah talked about his film ‘The Kerala Story’, in which actress Adah Sharma is playing the role of Fathima Ba, a Hindu Malayali nurse, who is among the 32,000 women who went missing from Kerala and were then recruited to the ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) after being forced to convert to Islam.

As the story is based on true events, Vipul said that it involved a lot of research and it is an attempt to bring out the truth in front of everyone.

He said: “The film is an amalgamation of years of research and true stories which have never been dared to be told before, it will uncover many hidden truths that have been hidden for long. It will uncover the dangerous threat radicalisation poses to the women of our nation and will create awareness about this conspiracy being hatched against India.”

Directed by Sudipto Sen, it is a story of four women and how from being regular college students in Kerala, they became part of a terror organisations.

“The film aims to become the voice of tens of thousands of women across the globe who have been indoctrinated and exploited for terrorism and other crimes,” added Vipul.

Apart from Adah, the film also features Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani and Siddhi Idnani.

It is slated to hit theatres on May 5.

Grimes invites people to use her voice in AI songs

Grimes has welcomed musicians to create new songs with her voice using Artificial Intelligence, saying she would split 50% of royalties on any successful AI-generated track that included her voice.

The Canadian singer, whose real name is Claire Boucher, tweeted that it was the “same deal as I would with any artist I collab[orate] with. Feel free to use my voice without penalty,” she tweeted.

She said she was interested in being a “guinea pig” and she thought “it’s cool to be fused with a machine and I like the idea of open sourcing all art and killing copyright”.

The music industry is currently entering unparalleled territory as it tries to keep up with the implications of a spate of songs created by training AI to generate artists’ voices.

Last week, Universal Music successfully petitioned TikTok, YouTube and Spotify to remove a track titled Heart On My Sleeve, which used AI vocals generated from their artists Drake and the Weeknd.

It was just one of several recently released tracks that featured AI-generated vocals based on Drake, who does not seem to be as enthused as Grimes. The rapper recently wrote: “This is the final straw AI,” on an Instagram story, referring to a version of Ice Spice’s song Munch that was released with a fake verse by him.

In a statement, the label said “the training of generative AI using our artists’ music” was “a violation of copyright law”. However, Universal’s position has not been tested in court, and it remains a legal grey area whether art that is created by a human, but which contains AI elements, can be copyrighted.

In October, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) warned that AI companies were violating copyrights en masse by using music to train their machines.

However, last month the US Copyright Office ruled that AI-generated art, including music, can’t be copyrighted as it is “not the product of human authorship”.

On Twitter, Grimes wrote she is working on software “that should simulate my voice well”, but would also consider releasing vocal tracks for people to use to train AI.

When asked what she would do if people used her voice to create racist or violent content, she wrote that she “may do copyright takedowns ONLY for rly rly toxic lyrics” or songs that were “anti-abortion or [something] like that”.

“That’s the only rule… [I] don’t wanna be responsible for a Nazi anthem unless it’s somehow in jest, a la Producers I guess,” she said.

Grimes, who has two children with SpaceX founder and Twitter CEO Elon Musk, has explored the quandaries posed by AI in tracks such as Flesh Without Blood. In 2020, she collaborated with music company Endel to create an AI-generated lullaby for her son X Æ A-12.

“I think AI is great,” she told the New York Times. “Creatively, I think AI can replace humans. And so I think at some point, we will want to, as a species, have a discussion about how involved AI will be in art.”

Russian propagandist says U.S. media ‘lost its last remaining voice of reason’ after Carlson exit

In a tweet, the Russian-backed English-language news outlet RT News also appeared to offer Carlson a job.

It was announced on Monday that Fox News was parting ways with Carlson after seven years of his hosting “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” Carlson’s last program was Friday.

Mideast countries voice concern over conflicts in Sudan, urge ceasefire

Cairo: Countries in the Middle East have expressed concerns over the ongoing conflicts between Sudan’s army and the paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and called for an immediate ceasefire and resolution of differences through dialogue.

The fight erupted on Saturday morning in the capital Khartoum and adjoining cities. At least three civilians have been killed, according to the Sudan Doctors’ Committee. The RSF announced that they have taken control of key locations, including Khartoum Airport and the Merowe military base in northern Sudan.

The latest armed conflict in Sudan has raised concerns among Middle Eastern countries, including those in the Arab League, prompting them to condemn the ongoing armed conflicts and call for de-escalation, Xinhua news agency reported.

In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry conveyed deep concern about the violence in Sudan and called on Sudan’s military and political leaders to prioritise dialogue, restraint, and wisdom, and unite to complete the consensus that has been achieved, including the framework agreement.

The UAE also urged Sudan’s conflicting parties to exercise restraint and resolve the crisis through dialogue. In a statement, the UAE Embassy in Khartoum expressed deep concern and reaffirmed the importance of de-escalation and finding a peaceful solution through dialogue. It also emphasised the need to support the political process in Sudan and achieve national consensus for the formation of a government.

Qatar, Libya and Jordan also joined in urging Sudan’s conflicting parties to immediately stop fighting and resolve their differences through dialogue.

On Saturday, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit on Saturday expressed his shock and condemnation of the armed fighting, especially during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

The Secretary-General also stressed the responsibility of the warring parties to preserve the security and safety of Sudanese civilians in the fighting areas and throughout the country, adding that the Arab League General Secretariat is ready to intervene with the warring parties to end the fight.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Armed Forces called for the maintenance of security and safety for Egyptian forces training in Sudan. In a statement, the Egyptian Army’s spokesman noted that joint Egyptian forces are present in Sudan for training purposes and are closely following the events. Coordination is underway with the concerned authorities to ensure the security of the Egyptian forces.

Iran also expressed concern about the developments and tensions in Sudan, inviting the conflicting sides to resolve their differences through dialogue.

Major disagreements have recently emerged between the Sudanese Army, led by Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF, led by al-Burhan’s deputy, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, especially over the RSF’s integration into the army, as stipulated in a framework agreement signed between the military and civilian leaders on December 5, 2022.

Modi govt wants to suppress Kejriwal’s voice: Atishi on CBI’ssummon to Delhi CM

New Delhi: After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the ongoing probe into the excise policy of the national capital, Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi on Saturday said that the Centre wants to suppress Kejriwal’s voice as he is vocal against the Modi government.

Addressing the mediapersons, Atishi said, “CBI has summoned the Delhi CM tomorrow. Why is he being called for an inquiry? Were crores of rupees found in Kejriwal’s house?… Gold biscuits were found. The central agencies have not been able to keep evidence against a single AAP leader or MLA. Now, these investigating agencies are calling Arvind Kejriwal because they want to suppress Kejriwal’s voice.”

Today the leader, who is raising his voice against the Centre and the Prime Minister is Arvind Kejriwal, she said.

Atishi further said, “It has been almost 10 years since Modi ji ran the government. They speak about reducing inflation. But the prices of everything have increased. Only Arvind Kejriwal has been raising his voice against it.”

The Delhi Minister said there are no jobs and over 5 crore youth are unemployed. She further said around 22 crore people are malnourished in the country. And only Kejriwal, she said has been raising these issues.

“The question is where the country’s money is going. After Modi ji became the Prime Minister, there is a big increase in the net worth of only his special friends. Kejriwal exposes this corruption layer by layer in the assembly, which is why Modi ji wants to suppress Kejriwal’s voice,” Atishi said.

No matter how much the Centre threaten Kejriwal, AAP will continue to raise the voice of the people against corruption, Atishi said.

“AAP is not afraid if they think that they can silence Arvind Kejriwal through CBI and ED,” she added.

In a major development in the Delhi excise policy case, the CBI has summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on April 16.
AAP leaders said that Kejriwal will appear before CBI for questioning.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, a key aide of Kejriwal, is in jail over alleged irregularities in the excise policy case.

Sisodia was arrested by ED and CBI in the ongoing investigation of a case related to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy in Delhi.

The CBI arrested Sisodia on February 26, 2023. Later on March 9, the ED arrested him, after hours of questioning at Tihar Jail.

The ED and the CBI had alleged that irregularities were committed while modifying the excise policy, undue favours were extended to licence holders, the licence fee was waived or reduced and the L-1 licence was extended without the competent authority’s approval. The beneficiaries diverted “illegal” gains to the accused officials and made false entries in their books of account to evade detection, the probe agencies said.

Rahul Gandhi was disqualified to suppress voice of opposition, says Hooda

Sonipat: Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday claimed Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from Lok Sabha to suppress the voice of opposition, but asserted the voice of truth cannot be suppressed.

Addressing a ‘Samvidhan Bachao Rally’ here, Hooda said some forces want to weaken the Constitution but the Congress will not allow them to succeed nor will it allow the voice of Gandhi to be suppressed.

“The Constitution is not only a legal document, it is also a social and economic document. A strong India needs a strong Constitution. On the birth anniversary of Babasaheb B R Ambedkar, let us take a pledge that we will not allow anyone to weaken the rights given to us by the Constitution,” said Hooda.

Recalling the legacy of the Congress, the former Haryana chief minister said, “Our elders made sacrifices for the country’s freedom”.

He claimed Gandhi was disqualified from Lok Sabha to suppress the voice of the opposition.

He, however, added that the voice of truth cannot be suppressed.

Gandhi was disqualified Lok Sabha last month after his conviction by a Surat court in a 2019 defamation case.

Hooda also took on the BJP-led government in Haryana.

He claimed before 2014, Haryana was leading in development, per capita income, per capita investment and in other fields, “but today it is lagging behind many areas and is ranked number 1 in unemployment, inflation, crime, corruption and debt”.

He said if Congress comes to power after next year’s state assembly polls, Rs 6,000 pension would be given to the elderly and 300 units of free electricity will be given to the people.

Paying tribute to Ambedkar on his 132nd birth anniversary, general secretary in-charge of Haryana Congress and Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil said Babasaheb had said, ‘Be educated, stay organised and struggle’.

He alleged that the BJP does politics of lies and its lies have to be countered.

State Congress chief Udai Bhan said on the basis of the mantras given by Ambedkar, the Congress party made laws like the Right to Education, Right to Information, and the Right to Food.

“The Congress brought the Scheduled Castes-Scheduled Tribes Atrocities Prevention Act to empower the weak, backward, exploited and deprived sections of the society. Babasaheb worked to give equal rights to everyone through the Constitution and strengthened democracy,” he said.

Bhan claimed the existence of the constitutional institutions is under threat today.

“The BJP government is misusing the constitutional institutions. When Rahul Gandhi asked questions on corruption, his membership was taken away under a political conspiracy,” Bhan alleged.

Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Singh Hooda first paid tribute to Ambedkar and recounted his contributions in giving India its Constitution. “(But) those who have come to power today say nothing has happened in 75 years,” he said.
