Indian Oil Corporation Limited Pipelines Division has announced 537 Apprentice vacancies across regions. Eligible candidates can apply online until 18 September 2025.
Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Pipelines Division, has released an official notification for the engagement of 537 Apprentices in both Technical and Non-Technical trades. The application process for these positions started on 29th August 2025 and will remain open till 18th September 2025.
The vacancies include Technician Apprentice (Mechanical, Electrical, Telecommunication & Instrumentation), Trade Apprentice (Accountant, Assistant-Human Resource), Data Entry Operator, and Domestic Data Entry Operator. The apprenticeship training will be for a duration of 12 months across various regions including Eastern, Western, Northern, Southern, and South Eastern.
Eligible candidates who fulfill the required qualifications and age criteria can submit their applications online within the given time frame. IOCL Pipelines Division has announced a total of 537 Apprentice vacancies distributed region-wise. Eastern Region has 156 posts, Western Region has 152 posts, Northern Region has 97 posts, Southern Region has 47 posts, and South Eastern Region has 85 posts.
Eligibility Criteria:
For Technician Apprentice (Mechanical), candidates must hold a full-time 3-year Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering. For Technician Apprentice (Electrical), a full-time 3-year Diploma in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering is required. For Telecommunication & Instrumentation, candidates must possess a full-time 3-year Diploma in Electronics & Communication, Telecommunication, Radio Communication, Instrumentation & Control, or Electronics Engineering. For Trade Apprentice (Assistant-Human Resource), a full-time Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University is needed. For Trade Apprentice (Accountant), candidates must have a full-time Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce. For Data Entry Operator (Fresher Apprentices), minimum 12th pass qualification is required. For Domestic Data Entry Operator (Skill Certificate Holders), minimum 12th pass along with a Skill Certificate in Domestic Data Entry Operator issued by NSQF recognized authority is needed.

The minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 24 years as of 31st August 2025, with relaxation for reserved categories as per rules.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates must register themselves on the NATS or NAPS portal according to their respective trade. After registration, they must complete the application on the IOCL Pipelines portal at plapps.indianoilpipelines.in before 18th September 2025. Applicants should use the same email ID and mobile number throughout the process.
Selection Process:
Candidates will be selected based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination, followed by document verification and medical fitness. There will be no written test or interview.

Border Security Force has invited online applications for Head Constable posts. There are a total of 1121 vacancies notified in the official announcement. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for these posts through the online mode.

For Radio Mechanic, merit list will be based on 200 marks of CBT.

Srinagar, Aug 30 (JKSA): The Meteorological Department (MeT Centre Srinagar) has issued an important weather forecast and advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the possibility of heavy rainfall and related weather hazards over the next few days.
Forecast Details
30th August – 2nd September:
One or two spells of light to moderate rain are expected at scattered to fairly widespread places across J&K.
Heavy to very heavy rain is likely over Jammu, Kathua & Samba districts.
Moderate to heavy rain/thundershowers/intense showers are likely in some areas of Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda & Kishtwar.
In South and Central Kashmir, light rain with brief intense showers accompanied by thunder and lightning is also possible.
3rd – 8th September:
Weather will remain generally hot and humid.
A few areas may experience brief spells of rain/thundershowers during this period.
Advisory Issued
The MeT Centre has issued a cautionary advisory urging people to remain alert during the forecast period, especially in Jammu Division.
Possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/thundershowers/intense showers at a few places in Jammu Division from late night 30th August to 2nd September.
Cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones are likely in vulnerable areas.
People are advised to stay away from water bodies, Nallas, river embankments, and loose structures.
All concerned departments and residents are urged to remain alert and updated.

With the possibility of extreme weather events, residents of Jammu & Kashmir are advised to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable areas, and follow safety guidelines issued by the authorities.

Eligibility Criteria
Academic Qualification
A candidate must have at least 55% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade in UGC 7-point scale) in Master’s degree in the concerned subject or allied subject from a recognized university.
Relaxation of 5% marks is provided for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/RBA/EWS/Differently-abled candidates.
Candidates with a one-year Master’s after a four-year Bachelor’s or two-year Master’s after a three-year Bachelor’s degree are eligible.
Candidates who have completed M.Phil. with 55% marks are also eligible.
Candidates with degrees from foreign universities recognized by relevant accreditation bodies may also apply.
Admission Procedure
Entrance Test
The entrance test will consist of 100 MCQs (1 mark each) divided into two parts:
Part I: General Research Aptitude – 50 Questions
Part II: Subject-Specific – 50 Questions
Minimum qualifying marks: 50%
Weightage:
Entrance Test – 70%
Interaction/Viva – 30%
Exemption from Entrance Test
Candidates who have qualified UGC-CSIR NET/JRF, ICAR-NET, ICMR-JRF, SET, GATE, CEED, GPAT, or any equivalent national-level test are exempted from the entrance test.
However, if the number of exempted candidates exceeds available vacancies, selection will be based on interaction with the DRC.
Part-Time Ph.D. Eligibility
In-service candidates can apply for part-time Ph.D. programmes, provided they submit:
NOC from parent department
Proof of at least two years of substantive service (teachers, scientists, government employees, etc.).

Application forms will be available from 01-09-2025 to 13-09-2025.
A non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1000/- must be paid online.

Asia Cup match timings delayed by 30 minutes amid extreme heat
Dubai, Aug 30: 18 of the 19 matches at the upcoming Men’s T20 Asia Cup, including the final, will now begin at 6:30pm local time – half an hour later than originally scheduled – to avoid sweltering heat conditions in the region.
With daytime temperatures in the UAE expected to touch 40s in September, as per the predictions by weather forecasters, it has led to all day-night fixtures in the eight-team competition being revised from 7:30 pm IST (6 pm local time) to 8 pm IST (6:30 pm local time).
The only game unaffected by the change is the lone day fixture between UAE and Oman on September 15 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, starting on 5:30 pm IST (4 pm local time).
The tournament will open on September 9 in Abu Dhabi, with Afghanistan facing Hong Kong in the curtain-raiser of the eight-team competition. Dubai will host 11 games, including the final on September 29 while Abu Dhabi will host eight matches.
India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman are placed in Group A while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Hong Kong. It’s also the first time the Asia Cup, to be held in the T20I format, keeping in mind the preparation of teams for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, will have eight teams.
India will play its Group A games against the UAE and the high-stakes clash against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 10 and 14 respectively while its clash against Oman is slated to happen at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 19.
The top two teams from each group will proceed to the Super Fours stage, with the top two facing each other in the title clash to decide the winner of the 17th edition of the Asia Cup. India are the defending champions of the Asia Cup, having beaten Sri Lanka in the 2023 final held in the 50-over format in Colombo. Sri Lanka had won the Asia Cup in the T20I version after beating Pakistan in the final in 2022.–(IANS)

I am in regular touch on whatsApp with a Pakistani lady from Lahore, whom I call ‘Lahore waali’ in lighter vein on Twitter.
Recently I sent her this whatsApp message :
” Imran Khan reminds me of a story.
A man told his friend that his father was a very brave man, who once fought with a tiger.
His friend asked ” What happened then ? “.
The man replied ” What could happen ? The tiger tore him up and ate him up ”
Imran Khan is like that brave man, & the US Govt is like that tiger “.

” I look at it this way: there is always a thin line between bravery and foolishness. If Imran had been the typical smart politician then he would have countinued the usual dealing under the table with Army and Americans. He would have continued in the political musical chairs like the average politician who are a dime a dozen in Pakistan.
The fact that he is unusual is the reason he is noticed by the public and he has a track record as a philanthropist and an upright leader with integrity spanning some 30-40 years. The masses appreciate bravery even though it is foolish specially when it comes from someone who has stood by them on the ground, most notably in providing free healthcare in a country where doctors usually advise to let the patient die because it is a matter of spending money on a patient who is going to die anyway due to advanced age or lack of financial means.
So he is the only leader for whom people have reported pilgrims crying and praying at The Kaaba in Mecca. They feel he is connected to them “.

” Please permit me to clarify my opinion. I never said Imran Khan should have done under the table dealings with America and the Pakistan army.
But should he have given such strong and indiscrete statements against the American Govt, saying that it forced the Pakistan Govt to send 80,000 Pakistani soldiers to death in Afghanistan, made Pakistanis slaves to America, and martyred ( made shaheed ) Osama bin Laden ?
Even if those were his sincere opinions, could he not have remained silent, knowing that they were sure to antagonize the Americans if publicly proclaimed ?
