Aamir Khan now seeks work in Hyderabad after Laal Singh Chaddha’s failure

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha was a big failure and one among the big-budget movies that fell prey to the ‘Boycott Bollywood’ trend. Post this, the Fanaa actor announced a year-long break from acting in November 2022 to spend more time with his family members.

The actor, who was spotted in a salt-and-pepper look earlier this year in Delhi, opted to produce RS Prasanna’s Campeones remake with Sony Pictures India instead of acting in it. And now, it is rumoured that Aamir Khan wants to play roles in Telugu movies instead of Bollywood for a while.

Yes, you read it right! Speculations are rife that Aamir Khan is flying down to Hyderabad to meet with Telugu producer Allu Aravind to have a talk with him about upcoming projects. It is rumoured that the duo are planning to make Ghajini 2. Experts said that Aamir Khan wants to save his career by appearing in any South Indian movie as Bollywood is still under troubled waters.

    MS Education Academy

As it is not officially confirmed whether Aamir Khan is going to play a role in the Allu Aravind project but meeting the latter second time in three months gives credence to the suspicions that the 3 Idiots actor will star in any big Telugu project soon.

A source close to the actor revealed to PeepingMoon, “Aamir Khan is discussing a project with producer Allu Aravind of Geetha Arts, and they met last week again for the same. They have discussed several project ideas and are eager to work together. But at this point, it is just a mere conversation, with no concrete development so far.”

The report quoting the source also reads, “Aamir and Allu Aravind have met on numerous occasions during the last 4-5 months. However, everything has been kept so secretive that nobody is aware of what is actually cooking. Ghajini 2 is definitely one of the projects under consideration, but it’s not yet certain what the other projects are. When things fall into place, we might learn about some developments, but for the time being, it’s all been kept under wraps.”

Whatever, but can any Telugu movie help Aamir Khan drag the audience towards cinema halls after two consecutive failures? Do share your thoughts in the comments section.

  • ‘Sensitive issue’, SC declines to commute Balwant Singh Rajoana’s death penalty

‘Sensitive issue’, SC declines to commute Balwant Singh Rajoana’s death penalty

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to grant relief on a plea filed by Balwant Singh Rajoana, seeking commutation of his death penalty in the 1995 assassination case of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh and others, in view of over 10 years delay in deciding a mercy petition, saying “it is within the domain of the executive to take a call on such sensitive issues”.

A bench comprising justices B.R. Gavai, Vikram Nath and Sanjay Karol said the petitioner himself never submitted any mercy petition and the alleged mercy petition of 2012 was filed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

“We may also record here that the three decisions relied upon by Mukul Rohatgi in support of his submission regarding inordinate delay in disposal of the mercy petition and resultantly commutation in such cases having been granted by this court, do not help the petitioner in view of the facts and situation being different in those three cases and in the present case,” said the bench.

    MS Education Academy

Justice Nath, who authored the judgment on behalf of the bench, said: “We also find that the Ministry of Home Affairs, upon material consideration of various reports from its different branches, has come to the conclusion that the consideration may be deferred as it could have an impact of compromising the security of the nation or creating law and order situation.”

The bench said it would not be within its domain to delve upon the decision of the competent authority to defer taking of any decision at present.

“It is within the domain of the executive to take a call on such sensitive issues. As such, this court does not deem it appropriate to issue any further directions,” it said.

The bench noted that the stand of the Ministry of Home Affairs to defer the decision on the mercy petition of the petitioner “actually amounts to a decision declining to grant the same for the present”.

The top court, in its judgment on Rajoana’s plea, said, “It is, however, directed that the competent authority, in due course of time, would again as and when it is deemed necessary, may deal with the mercy petition, and take a further decision. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly with the aforesaid observations.”

The bench noted that after the communication of the Ministry of Home Affairs on September 27, 2019, the proposal for considering the commutation of the death sentence of the petitioner was started.

“A decision was taken to keep the same pending till disposal of the pending appeals before this court, filed by the co-accused as well as by the CBI, as according to the competent authority, it would have a bearing and it could be relevant for taking a final decision on the said proposal of commutation,” said the bench.

However, after the directions issued on December 2, 2020 and May 2, 2022, the matter was again considered by the competent authority and it was decided to defer the question of commutation in view of the reasons given in the affidavit filed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, observed the bench.

“Thus, it cannot be alleged that there has been an inordinate delay in disposal of the mercy petition,” said Justice Nath.

Former Chief Minister of Punjab Beant Singh, along with 16 others, lost their lives while a dozen others were injured in a bomb blast in August 1995. Rajoana was arrested on January 27, 1996. Rajoana, along with eight others, who had hatched a conspiracy and had executed the bomb blast, were put to trial.

In July 2007, the trial court convicted Rajoana along with co-accused Jagtar Singh Hawara, Gurmeet Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Shamsher Singh and Nasib Singh. The petitioner along with co-accused Jagtar Singh Hawara were awarded death sentence.

In death reference, the high court vide judgment dated December 10, 2010 confirmed the conviction and sentence of the petitioner. However, while confirming the conviction of co-accused Jagtar Singh, it commuted the death sentence into life imprisonment.

The other co-accused preferred to appeal before the top court. However, Rajoana did not file any appeal after the judgment of the high court.

Giriraj Singh dares Bihar govt to stop Dhirendra Shastri’s Patna visit

    [ad_1]

Patna: Politics over the visit of self-styled godman Dhirendra Shastri continues in Bihar with Union minister Giriraj Singh on Monday challenging the leaders of the Mahagathbandhan to stop him from coming to Patna.

Shastri, the chief of Bageshwar Dham, a pilgrimage site in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district, is scheduled to be in Patna from May 13-17 for a religious programme in the Naubatpur locality.

“The organisers of the event had applied for space in Gandhi Maidan, which the district administration refused. The state government led by Nitish Kumar gave space to the Muslim community for prayers during EID, but it has denied space to a Hindu saint in Gandhi Maidan,” Singh said.

“The Bihar government may have denied Shastri space in Gandhi Maidan, but no one can dare to stop from him landing in Patna for a religious programme,” Singh said.

Earlier, RJD leaders Tej Pratap Yadav, Jagadanand Singh, Vrisan Patel and Surendra Ram had objected to Shastri’s visit to Patna.

People like Atiq Ahmad, Amritpal Singh cancer for country, despise them: RSS leader

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar on Sunday said people such as gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and Khalistani preacher Amritpal Singh should be despised as they are enemies of humanity and “cancer” for the country.

Kumar was addressing an Eid Milan ceremony organised by the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) in the national capital.

Ahmad and his brother ashraf were shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists on April 15 in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, while Khalistan sympathiser Amritpal Singh was arrested on April 23 by the Punjab Police after a month-long hunt.

    MS Education Academy

“Be it Atiq Ahmad, Amritpal, any terrorist or naxalite, all of them are enemies of humanity. They are going to snatch away people’s smiles. Such people should be despised and not supported. Voice should be raised against them. People like atiq and amritpal are cancer for the country,” the MRM in a statement quoted the RSS leader as saying at the event.

Kumar, a member of the RSS national executive, is the chief patron of the MRM.

“Eid means happiness but if Islam is tainted because of a few people, who believe in Islam, there is a need for us to ponder seriously as to what paths have been shown to us by Islam and the Quran,” Kumar said.

He called upon people to follow their respective religions and have respect for each others’ faith. “We are all one and if we accept this, there will never be any quarrel or trouble,” Kumar said, adding that “just follow your religion”.

“Don’t condemn or criticise any other religion. Have respect for all religions,” he said .

Addressing the event, senior RSS leader Ram Lal stressed on maintaining unity and integrity of the country and called upon people to take a vow that they will not let anyone divide them.

  • What makes Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh ‘invincible’ in the BJP?

What makes Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh ‘invincible’ in the BJP?

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: The “shield of invincibility” he wears comes from the influence he enjoys in half a dozen Lok Sabha constituencies, while Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s strong links with the saints and his role in the Ayodhya temple movement make him stronger than many other MPs in the BJP.

The dozens of educational institutions he owns in eastern UP add to his vote bank.

Moreover, the ongoing municipal elections have created a climate that works in favour of the six-term MP, who is currently in the eye of the storm over allegations of sexual harassment from wrestlers.

    MS Education Academy

Singh is the President of the Wrestling Federation of India and wrestlers have been on protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi demanding action against him.

The Delhi Police has filed two cases against him after the Supreme Court ordered them to do so.

One of the FIRs is over a complaint of sexual harassment by a minor, filed under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which gives no scope for bail.

Yet the Delhi police have made no efforts to arrest Singh, who insists that he will face an inquiry but will not resign “as a criminal”.

The BJP, which claims to be firm on discipline, has turned a proverbial Nelson’s eye to his behaviour.

Much before he took over as WFI President in 2011, Singh was known for his arm-twisting tactics.

A key player in the Ayodhya movement, he was known as a one-man army for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh at that time the party then had minimal presence on the political centre stage in the state.

Born in Gonda in 1957, Singh’s interest in politics began as a college student in the seventies.

He entered politics with a vengeance when senior BJP leader L.K. Advani came to Gonda during the Ayodhya movement.

Singh offered to “drive” Advani’s Rath and this catapulted him to instant fame within the BJP.

Singh won his first election in 1991, defeating Raja Anand Singh from Gonda.

The following year, he was named as an accused in the Babri demolition case which consolidated his “pro-Hindu image”.

He was acquitted along with others in 2020.

Singh has been elected to the Lok Sabha six times from Gonda, Balrampur, and Kaiserganj and more than his political acumen, he has been known as a mafia of the region.

At one point in time, Singh was named in more than three dozen criminal cases.

In 1996, he was accused of sheltering associates of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. He was booked under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (TADA) Act and jailed.

During his stint in prison, Atal Bihari Vajpayee allegedly wrote to him, asking him to take courage and “remember Savarkarji who was sentenced to life imprisonment”.

Later, he was acquitted in the case, mainly due to lack of evidence.

In 1996, when he was in jail, the BJP gave the Lok Sabha ticket to his wife Ketaki Singh and she won by a handsome margin.

The BJP, interestingly, has always given ample political protection to Singh mainly because of the clout he wields in eastern UP and among Rajputs.

The party leadership knows that it would lose out on seats if it showed the door to Singh.

Singh’s clout has only grown after the turn of the century and so has his money power.

His brazenness is evident from the fact that during the 2022 Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Singh admitted in an interview to a TV channel that he had committed one murder something that even the most dreaded criminal does not admit on camera.

In the interview, he said he shot the man who had killed Ravindra Singh. “I pushed the man who shot Ravindra Singh and shot him dead,” he said.

Earlier, in 2009, Singh had briefly parted ways with the BJP and joined the SP but he returned home to the BJP before Narendra Modi’s victory in 2014.

As his stature grew within the BJP, his “business” also flourished.

He owns around 50 schools and colleges and has interests in mining besides dabbling in liquor contracts, coal business and also real estate.

Singh is known to gift motorcycles, scooters, and money to students and supporters on his birthday every year.

His appointment as WFI chief in 2011, further added to his “weight”.

In December 2021, he did not think twice before slapping a wrestler on-stage during an event in Ranchi.

The kind of clout that Singh wields within the BJP, is evident from the fact that he has even slammed the Yogi Adityanath government and accused the bureaucracy of making elected representatives “touch their feet”. He also criticised the state government’s lack of preparedness for floods.

Political analysts are actually bewildered at the lack of action against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who is known to take the bull by its horns more so if it is a mafia in question.

“One can simply not understand Yogi Adityanath turning a blind eye to Singh’s activities. It has to be pressure from the top that is preventing the Chief Minister from turning his bulldozer towards Singh’s kingdom,” said a party functionary.

The fact that no action not even a word of disapproval was taken in the matter, has made him even bolder.

“Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh believes he is invincible and does not fear even his own party leadership. No one can dare criticise him and even journalists keep a safe distance from him. The police bow before him. The clout he wields can only be seen to be believed,” said one of his former supporters.

On Sunday, Singh dropped broad hints about his political options when he praised SP President Akhilesh Yadav for not slamming him in the ongoing controversy.

With the municipal elections already underway, the BJP knows that any action against this powerful MP will be detrimental to party interests.

Moreover, with the Lok Sabha elections just a few months away, the BJP cannot target Singh.

He is any day a more influential Thakur in state politics even though it is Yogi Adityanath who is recognised as a Thakur leader.

And that is reason enough for the BJP to avoid any action against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Hand Over Patrol Vessel, Landing Craft to Maldives as India’s Gift – Kashmir News

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Hand Over Patrol Vessel, Landing Craft to Maldives as India’s Gift – Kashmir News

    [ad_1]

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will hand over a fast patrol vessel and a landing craft to the Maldives as India’s “gift” during his visit to the island nation from May 1 to 3.

The defence ministry said this on Sunday, noting that Singh’s visit to the Maldives will be an “important landmark” in building “strong bonds” of friendship between the two countries.

The Maldives is one of India’s key maritime neighbours in the Indian Ocean region and the overall bilateral ties, including in the areas of defence and security, have been on an upward trajectory in the last few years.

India’s decision to provide military platforms to the Maldives came amid China’s persistent efforts to expand its overall influence in the region.

During his visit, Singh is scheduled to call on Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and hold talks with Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and Defence Minister Mariya Didi.

“In tune with India’s commitment to capacity building of friendly countries and partners in the region, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will gift one fast patrol vessel ship and a landing craft to the Maldives National Defence Forces,” the ministry said in a statement.

Singh is also set to take stock of the implementation of various India-assisted projects in the Maldives and will interact with the Indian diaspora.

“India and the Maldives are working closely to effectively address shared challenges, including maritime security, terrorism, radicalisation, piracy, trafficking, organised crime and natural disasters,” the ministry said.

“India’s vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) along with its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy as well as Maldives’ ‘India First’ policy seek to work together to jointly develop the capabilities within the Indian Ocean region,” it added.

On Singh’s talks with the Maldivian defence and foreign ministers, it said the entire gamut of defence relations between the two countries will be reviewed.

The Maldives is also one of the biggest beneficiaries of India’s Neighbourhood First policy.

In August last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldivian President Solih kick-started the India-funded Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP), billed as the largest infrastructure initiative in the island nation.

Under the project, a 6.74-km-long bridge and causeway link will be built to connect Maldivian capital Male with the adjoining islands of Villingli, Gulhifalhu and Thilafushi.

Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane visited the Maldives last month and held talks with his Maldivian counterpart, Major General Abdulla Shamaal.(PTI)

BJP govt in MP has `commercialised’ administration: Digvijaya Singh

    [ad_1]

Bhopal: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Saturday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Madhya Pradesh of `commercialising’ the administrative system.

A minister in BJP-ruled Karnataka had to resign due to accusations of corruption, but the BJP gave him ticket again for Assembly elections, he said, speaking to reporters at Jawad in Neemuch district.

“Commercialisation of the administrative system is the BJP’s way of functioning as it believes in khoob khao aur khoob khilao" (take bribe and give bribe) though the prime minister had saidna khaunga na khane dunga’ (won’t take bribe, won’t allow others to take bribe),” Singh said.

    MS Education Academy

The former chief minister cited a recent case where a Janpad Panchayat president was held while accepting bribe from a sarpanch.

He also alleged that government was recruiting some people without conducting even interviews.

Asked for a reaction, MP BJP secretary Rajneesh Agrawal said Madhya Pradesh has achieved hundred per cent targets in several flagship public welfare schemes and other states are imitating it.

It was the BJP government that decided to use the direct benefit transfer (DBT) system, but Singh can not understand all this as he symbolised the worst governance the state had, Agrawal said.

  • Poonch Attack Carried Out With Active Local Support; IED Used To Blow Army Vehicle: Dilbagh Singh

Poonch Attack Carried Out With Active Local Support; IED Used To Blow Army Vehicle: Dilbagh Singh

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Friday said that the April 21 attack in Bhata Durian area of Poonch in which five soldiers were killed was carried out with active local support and militants had used steel-coated armour-piercing bullets and IEDs to target army vehicle to inflict maximum damage.

He said intense search to track the natural hide-outs used by militants is being launched and initial investigations suggest that nine to 12 foreign militants may be active in Rajouri-Poonch area, who may have infiltrated recently.

Talking to reporters after taking stock of the ongoing search operations in Darhal area of Rajouri district, DGP Singh said that the Poonch attack was carried out with active support of locals.

“Such attacks can’t be carried out without local support. The militants were provided shelter at one place and then provided transport to carry out the attack at another place. They had done proper recee of the area and despite rain they succeeded to target the army vehicle that was plying with almost zero speed due to blind turn,” the DGP said, adding that “the attackers knew the spot and speed of the vehicle.”

The DGP said that the terrorist used steel-coated armour-piercing bullets and IEDs to blow the army vehicle in a bid to inflict maximum damage. “Same bullets were used in the Dhangri, Rajouri attack. The Poonch attack was carried out near a forest area. Initial investigations suggest that the terrorists may have used natural hideouts. We are identifying the natural hide-outs that may have been used by the attackers before the attack and intense search operation is on to nab the attackers,” he said.

Replying to a query, he said that the group of terrorists involved in the recent attack may be divided into two and their number seems to be between nine to twelve.

About the local support, he said that the local Nisar Ahmed, a resident of Gursai village, was already in the suspect list of police. “He has been an active OGW of terrorists since 1990. He was questioned several times in the past. This time, after corroborating the evidence, he was found involved in providing logistic and other support to terrorists who carried out the Poonch attack,” the DGP said, adding that Nisar’s family is also involved in providing support to terrorists.

On whether terrorists had got weapons through drones, the DGP said that weapons, grenades and cash was air-dropped by drone and the same was collected by Nisar and his family members.

“We are identifying the spot where the drone had dropped the weapons and cash,” he said. He said so far, 200 people were questioned and 12 suspects have been detained. He said with the arrest of Nisar, the investigation has got a direction and vital leads have been received so far. (KNO)
