A day after rejoining Congress on Sunday, Veteran leader and Former TRS Rajyasabha MP D Srinivas submitted his resignation from the party.
Srinivas, who had rejoined the party on Sunday, played a key role to bring back congress into power in 2004 and 2009. His son D Arvind is the sitting BJP MP from Nizamabad.
He was to participate in the ‘Satyagraha’ protest against Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Lok Sabha. “Rahul Gandhi is my leader. How can you say that he doesn’t have the eligibility (of being an MP)? Given the sacrifices made by that family & their experience, you can’t question his eligibility. I am joining the party today. I shall be a part of their ongoing protest,” he had said, speaking to ANI.
In a video, where Srinivas signs his resignation his wife pleads with Congress to leave him alone owing to his health issues.
“This is the resignation letter of D Srinivas. I appeal to Congress and media persons not to trouble us anymore.”
SRINAGAR: Hitesh Pandya, an additional public relations officer in the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office, resigned on Friday evening after serving for nearly 22 years. The resignation was due to the links between his son, a businessman associated with the BJP, and “conman” Kiran Patel, who is currently in custody in J&K for impersonating an official from the Prime Minister’s Office. Pandya had served five chief ministers, including Keshubhai Patel, Narendra Modi, Anandiben Patel, Vijay Rupani, and Bhupendra Patel.
As per Hitesh Pandya’s statement, The Indian Express reported, “I have tendered my resignation to the Chief Minister (Bhupendra Patel). Nobody asked me to resign. I felt I should resign. I will wind up my pending work by March 31 and be relieved from the office.”
Hours before resigning, Hitesh Pandya confirmed to the newspaper The Indian Express that his son, Amit, had visited J&K with Kiran Patel “for business purpose” with his approval. Amit, along with another individual, Jay Sitapara, were present when Patel was arrested earlier this month. Both Amit and Sitapara have been summoned by the J&K police for questioning.
According to Pandya, his son is innocent and a witness in the case. He also mentioned that Amit deals in home security appliances and is associated with the BJP, having served as the party’s social media cell convener in North Zone till January 2023.
While denying any knowledge of Kiran Patel’s links to the CMO, Pandya admitted that Patel was affiliated with a private organization called Nation First Foundation (NFF), which Pandya had established in 2011.
“I founded the organization in 2011 to promote Modi saheb’s ideologies. Our work was solely focused on serving the nation. We conducted a Bharat Jago Abhiyan to create awareness among people about the BJP government’s initiatives and accomplishments… Kiran Patel joined the organization through Amit’s connection with him,” said Pandya as per The Indian Express.
When asked specifically about Amit’s connection with Kiran Patel, Pandya stated, “They were both employed at a publicity company in 2004. I knew Kiran as Amit’s friend. However, I came to the realization in 2011 that he was not someone we should associate ourselves with. Therefore, I relieved him and all the individuals associated with him from NFF. I found his business practices and billing to be improper… Kiran Patel then went on to establish his own organization.”
“Why would you break the relationship? He was keeping him away without snapping the relationship,” said Pandya when asked why he didn’t warn his son about Kiran Patel. However, their contact increased after Amit’s “rare heart condition” in September last year. “After Kiran’s arrest, Amit and Jay were kept in a hotel and their statements recorded. Then, they were let go and told that they will have to come whenever called. His statement was recorded as a witness,” he explained.
Pandya also mentioned that he informed the Chief Minister and other relevant authorities about the case as soon as he found out about it from Amit.
Pandya has been associated with the Gujarat CMO for over two decades, joining in 2001 as an assistant PRO. Before that, he worked at Life Corporation of India and the Rajkot daily “Phulchhab”.
Amaravati: Congress suffered a setback as former chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned from the party on Saturday.
He submitted his resignation letter to the president of the Indian National Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, on March 11.
The four-time MLA from Chittoor district is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reports suggest.
Reddy’s association with the Congress party has been on and off since the state’s bifurcation in 2014. He was the last chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh and was strongly against the division.
When the UPA government decided to divide AP, Reddy resigned as the chief minister and quit the party to float his own called the Jai Samaikyandhra Party.
However, the party neither gained momentum nor acceptance from the public, following which Reddy returned to Congress in 2018. However, he alleged that he was repeatedly sidelined by the party when asked for a better position. He even paid a visit to Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi for the same.
He was inactive during the 2019 General Elections and did not participate in the recently concluded Bharat Jodo Yatra.
New Delhi: Advocate Nitesh Rana on Saturday resigned as the special public prosecutor of the Enforcement Directorate, citing personal reasons.
As a special public prosecutor since 2015, Rana represented the federal agency in several high-profile cases, including those against former Union finance minister P Chidambaram, Congress leader D K Shivakumar, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his family, TMC leader Abhishek Banarjee, and Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
Rana said his office will inform the court about the situation till the time some arrangements are made by the Enforcement Directorate.
He represented the agency in matters such as the Jammu and Kashmir terror finding case against the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen and in cases against terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Syed Salahuddin.
He also represented the agency in high-profile matters such as the Air India “scam”, money laundering cases against Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and Bhushan Power and Steel, Ranbaxy-Religare fraud, Sterling Biotech scam and the West Bengal cattle smuggling case.
The Forbes Magazine selected Rana in its “Legal Powerlist of 2020”.
Rana, 44, also represented the ED in court in the United Kingdom in money laundering probe-related proceedings.
Bengaluru: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party legislative council member Puttanna on Thursday joined the Congress alleging large scale corruption in the government.
Puttanna said he has tendered his resignation from the council as well as the primary membership of the BJP.
The four-time member of Legislative Council was representing the teachers’ constituency of Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural and Ramanagara districts. He was re-elected to the council in October 2020 and his tenure ends on October 2026.
“Today I arrived at the decision and resigned from the BJP’s primary membership and legislative council membership. I submitted my resignation letter to the office of the legislative council chairman,” Puttanna told reporters.
He alleged that the corruption prevailing in Karnataka forced him to take the decision.
“The dream with which I had joined the BJP could not be materialised because of the suffocation,” the leader said.
Puttanna alleged that not a single problem could be solved by the government.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah has resigned as the party’s president, and elections are due to take place next month, thus the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference will soon have a new president.
Omar Abdullah, a former chief minister and vice president of the party, is most likely to succeed as president. The election scheduled on December 5 will, however, determine that.
Tanvir Sadiq, the chief spokesman for the party, was quoted by Excelsior as saying that Abdullah has resigned as NC president and that elections would take place on December 5. The mausoleum of the party’s founder, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, at Hazratbal, would host the polls, he claimed, and a notice to that effect will be issued soon.
Prior to this announcement, Abdullah made it known that he would be stepping down as party leader at a meeting of the In-charge Segments, district presidents, and other provincial office bearers held at the party headquarters in Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar. But he will stay in office until the elections are held.
Dr. Abdullah announced his choice and urged the party leaders to take control of the party in an emotional speech at the party headquarters while crying. He said that his health no longer allowed him to lead the party.
In the discussion, Abdullah urged the party’s officials to grow the organisation and connect with voters in their various districts. The current state of the Valley and party issues were discussed at the conference. The party officials also gave the party president an update on the ongoing party events in their respective sectors.
Abdullah outlined the difficulties that the populace was experiencing and urged them to collaborate closely with locals. “Our ground force must serve as a link between the government and the populace. We must prioritise the needs of the general populace in addition to our just and peaceful campaign for the restoration of our rights. To ease people’s difficulties, you must provide excellent service, he stated.
The constituency in-charges were instructed by the senior party officials to be prepared for elections whenever they take place. They said that because the NC had already passed a resolution to this effect, there would be no pre-poll alliance. They said that the PAGD would continue to function as a forum and that each party would run its own campaign. “It serves a greater cause. It is a platform for the defence of Article 370 and Statehood, not for any pre-election coalition, they said.
Omar Abdullah, the vice president of the party, also spoke to the crowd. He also emphasised the need for party building. Ali Muhammad Sagar, the party’s general secretary, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, senior leaders Abdul Rahim Rather, Mubarak Gul, Shameema Firdous, Nazir Gurezi, and Muhammad Syed Akhoon, Zonal Presidents Ali Muhammad Dar and Javed Dar, Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri, district presidents, constituency in-charges, and other provincial office holders were also present.
