Telangana govt owes explanation on ORR leasing: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday found fault with the Telangana government for leasing out Outer Ring Road (ORR) to a private party for just Rs 7,380 crore for a period of 30 years, saying this deprived the state of Rs 75,000 crore revenues.
He said the state government owes an explanation to people as awarding of toll collection, operation and maintenance of the ORR to a private agency for 30 years on Toll, Operate and Transfer (TOT) basis would result in a huge loss of revenue to the state.
He told a news conference that the state government selected IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited in the bid in a predetermined manner and in violation of the guidelines of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

Kishan Reddy explained that the private agency will collect toll for 30 years on ORR after paying only Rs 7,380 crore to the government.
He pointed out that so far Eagle Infra was collecting Rs 415 crore as toll on ORR for Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) every year.
“If this toll collection increases by 5 per cent per year, HMDA would have earned Rs 30,000 crore for 30 years. Experts and engineers say the 10 per cent increase would mean a revenue of Rs 75,000 crore during the same period. If we assume a 15 per cent increase, the revenue for the government would be over Rs 2.08 lakh crore,” he said.
Stating that Hyderabad is the fastest growing city in the country, the Union Minister said the toll revenue on ORR would only go up.
He wondered why the BRS government which had been opposing privatisation gave ORR on lease for 30 years. Taking a dig at Chief Minister KCR, he asked if this was the qualitative change he wanted to bring.

“The government should tell people for whose benefit this decision was taken,” he said.
He questioned the need for awarding the contract for 30 years when most of the roads are leased for a maximum period of 10 years.
The Union Minister alleged that BRS took the decision as it has realised that it will lose power in Telangana.

Kejriwal welcomed YSR Congress MP Magunta Sriniavasulu Reddy into Delhi liquor business

New Delhi: In its third supplementary chargesheet filed in the Delhi excise policy scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has mentioned that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal welcomed the entry of YSR Congress MP Magunta Sriniavasulu Reddy into the Delhi liquor business.
Srinivas Reddy’s son Raghav Magunta was later arrested in the matter.
“K Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, held meetings with Vijay Nair prior and post the policy was drafted and came in effect. Similarly, Magunta Sriniavasulu Reddy also held a meeting with the CM of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal wherein Kejriwal welcomed his entry into the Delhi liquor business,” the ED has mentioned.

The ED has alleged that though the manufacturers were seemingly supposed to take this crucial decision on their own as per their choice, but investigation revealed that Pernod Ricard, one of the biggest manufacturers in the country and also a subject in the ongoing investigation, was in fact directed by and conspired with Vijay Nair to give their wholesale distribution business to the accused Indo Spirits (L1 wholesaler), which was a part of the Super Cartel covered in the prosecution complaint.
Further, there is evidence of the manufacturers paying kickbacks through their wholesalers in this policy in exchange for benefits of private retail introduction.
Vijay Nair, on behalf of leaders of the AAP, received kickbacks to the tune of Rs 100 cr from a group; for convenience it can be called the South Group (as termed in the statements of various persons recorded during the investigation), whose prominent members are Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Raghav Magunta, Sarath Reddy and K Kavitha. The South Group was represented by Abhishek Boinpally, Arun Pillai and Buchi Babu. Abhishek Boinpalli facilitated the transfer of a Rs 100 cr kickback in connivance and conspiracy with Vijay Nair and his associate Dinesh Arora.

G Kishan Reddy admitted to AIIMS with chest congestion complaints: Report

New Delhi: Union Minister for Culture and Tourism G Kishan Reddy was admitted to the AIIMS here on Sunday.
He was brought to the hospital around 10.50 pm following complaints of chest congestion, sources said.
The Union minister has been admitted to the Cardiac Care Unit of the Cardio Neuro Centre, they said.

Srinivasa Reddy to resign as YSRCP regional coordinator

Amaravati: Senior leader of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and former minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy has decided to quit as the regional coordinator of the party.
Srinivasa Reddy, who was serving as the YSRCP coordinator for Chittoor, Nellore and Tirupati, sent his resignation to the party office.
He was reportedly unhappy ever since he was dropped from the cabinet last year. The senior leader also suspected that some leaders within the party were working against him.

Balineni Srinivasa Reddy is a key leader from Prakasam district and is a relative of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He was unhappy after Jagan Mohan Reddy dropped him from the cabinet last year and was reported to be even planning to quit as MLA.
Srinivasa Reddy, who had served as a minister in the cabinet of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, was angry over Jagan Reddy dropping him while retaining many others who are junior to him. He was miffed over Jagan retaining Adimulapu Suresh, who also hails from the same district, in the cabinet.
The chief minister, however, had pacified him and appointed him the regional coordinator of the party.
However, Srinivasa Reddy was unhappy over not getting due respect in the party. He was also not sure of getting a party ticket in the 2024 elections. He had expressed the fear that a woman might be given the MLA ticket from Ongole in the next elections.

On April 12, Srinivasa Reddy had taken strong objection to security personnel not allowing him to reach the helipad in his vehicle in Markapuram of Prakasam district when Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was visiting the area.
Srinivasa Reddy left the place in a huff but attended the chief minister’s programme only after the latter spoke to him over phone.
When ministers and other leaders were heading towards the helipad to receive the chief minister, the security personnel stopped Srinivasa Reddy’s car and asked him to get down and walk to the helipad. Taken aback by this, the senior leader pulled up police officials. Angry over the behaviour of police, he returned from there in his vehicle even as Suresh, district SP and other leaders tried to pacify him.
Meanwhile, minister Kakani Goverdhan Reddy described Srinivasa Reddy’s issue as a storm in teacup. He claimed that the former minister is getting due respect in the party.

Vivekananda Reddy not murdered over property, says Sharmila

Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila said on Wednesday that her uncle Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy was not murdered for his property as he had already bequeathed his entire property to his daughter Suneetha.
Sharmila told reporters here that Vivekananda Reddy’s property was in the name of his daughter for a long time.
Her remarks assumed significance in view of the allegations by some of the accused in the case and the alleged second wife of Vivekananda Reddy that he was killed as he wanted to give his property to his son from the second wife.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, also said that if Suneetha’s husband Rajasekhar Reddy wanted property he would have killed Suneetha and not Vivekananda Reddy as all the assets were already in her name.
She also found fault with the allegations being made against the slain former minister and former MP. “Vivekananda Reddy was a people’s man. People of Pulivendula and Kadapa district know him. He lived a simple life,” she said.
She said it was unfortunate that some media houses were indulging in character assassination by airing baseless stories about his personal life. “Nobody has a right to speak about the personal life of my uncle,” she said.
Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, was murdered in his house in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, few weeks before the elections.
The CBI, which is probing the case, recently arrested Vivekananda Reddy’s cousin Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy and grilled the latter’s son and Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy. The agency suspects that they hatched a conspiracy to kill Vivekananda Reddy as he was not in favour of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) fielding Avinash Reddy as the candidate from Kadapa Lok Sabha seat.

Vivekananda Reddy reportedly wanted Jagan Mohan Reddy to field the latter’s sister Sharmila or mother Y.S. Vijayamma as the party candidate.
Avinash Reddy, who has approached the Telangana High Court for anticipatory bail, alleged that the CBI was trying to implicate them in the case. He claimed that the CBI ignored key facts in the case, including that Vivekananda Reddy’s family members were unhappy with him for marrying another woman. He also claimed that Vivekananda Reddy wanted to give his property to his second wife and son.

The academy was celebrating Civil Service Day. The award was handed over by the former Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu to Reddy for the latter’s innovations and the outstanding contribution made in the field of public service.
Reddy spoke about the numerous hurdles and delays he and his team met during the construction of metro projects. “We faced many problems in the form of court cases, campaigns, protests. Even my effigy was burnt. But this did not deter me to achieve my goal,” Reddy said while accepting the award.

He advised young civil service aspirants to aim high. Civil service is a rare opportunity for any one to serve the nation, he pointed out.

With several contenders already in place in the party for the Malkajagri Lok Sabha constituency, the BJP has focused on strengthening the party in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.
Revanth Reddy had won the Malkajagri Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket in the last elections. Since Revanth Reddy is interested in the assembly elections, the BJP is confident that it can win from the Malkajagri Lok Sabha constituency.
According to the sources, a plan has been charted out for BJP to do better in the Telangana elections, BJP leadership is in favour of early elections or advocating Telangana elections along with the general elections in the country.

Karnataka court orders filing of criminal case against Janardhana Reddy

Bengaluru: Mining baron-turned-politician Janardhana Reddy, who is all set to contest Karnataka Assembly elections by launching a new party, on Monday suffered a setback as a special court has ordered filing of criminal case against him.
The Special Court for People’s Representatives here has given this order in connection with the illegal selling of iron ore. Investigation Officer Manjunath Annigeri had submitted a private complaint in this regard.
The court after looking into the complaint ordered filing of the criminal case against 16 persons including Janardhana Reddy and Congress MLA B. Nagendra.

The court has given direction to lodge a case under the Mines and Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, citing Sections 21, 23, 4(1), 41(A) of the act and adjourned the matter to June 24.
The complaint is regarding the sale of iron ore which caused loss of Rs 211 crores for the state exchequer between 2008 and 2011. The accused came together to avoid payment of royalty, and cess to the state government.
Presently, Janardhana Reddy has launched a new party in Karnataka to fight the May 10 Assembly elections, and claimed that without his support, the national parties can not form the government.

‘Does KCR have moral right to speak on Vishakhapatnam steel plant?’ asks Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Culture, Tourism And Development Of North Eastern Region, G Kishan Reddy questioned whether Telangana Chief Minister K has any moral right to speak about the Vishakhapatnam steel plant privatisation issue.
While addressing the press conference on Sunday, G Kishan Reddy said, “KCR and his family have been talking a lot about the Vishakhapatnam steel plant in the past week. Singareni collaries are in loss. It is not getting funds from the Telangana government. When PM Modi came to Hyderabad to inaugurate development works in Telangana, the Kalvakuntla family and BRS party organised protests saying that Singareni is being privatised. On one side they are staging protests about privatisation and on another side, they say that they will buy the Vishakhapatnam steel plant”.
“As many industries in Telangana were shut down, the BRS party in its manifesto has promised that in 100 days they will open Nizam sugar factory. Now it has been 9 years, but not a single step has been taken by KCR in this direction. Does KCR have the moral right to speak about the Vishakhapatnam steel plant?” he said.

He further stated the Telangana Government led by KCR has just one aim which is to criticize the central government from morning to evening.
“They have made their main aim to criticise the central government. Telangana people elected KCR for good governance and to fulfil the dreams of the Telangana people. However today, he has left Telangana to the air and the Chief Minister and his family in the name of BRS have made their main agenda to criticise the central government from morning to evening,” he said.
G Kishan Reddy also mentioned that the Telangana government has failed to deliver on the promises they had made in their manifesto during elections over the opening of industries in the state.
“The state government will set up a steel plant in Bayyaram even if the centre does not cooperate. The people are asking today, after 4 years, why are they not setting up the steel plant in Bayyaram? They said they will open many industries that were shut down, but did they open a single factory till today? KCR should answer this. The BRS manifesto also said that it will set up a revolving fund to open the small industries that were shut down. But to date, the revolving fund is still revolving in the air. As many industries belonging to the SC community are in trouble, there is around Rs.837 crores to be given. Many subsidies in the state for SC, ST, and others are not being given. Kalvakuntla family is now stating all other things to divert the people of Telangana from their failures” he said.
He also mentioned that CM KCR has no respect for the Indian constitution.

After 9 years, he (KCR) woke up and came out of his house on Ambedkar Jayanti. On Ambedkar Jayanti, all CMs would come to Tankbund and honour Ambedkar every year. But after becoming Chief Minister, KCR never came to the Ambedkar statue near Tankbund. KCR does not have any respect towards Ambedkar. He even said that the constitution written by Ambedkar is not relevant today and a new constitution should be written. He thinks that the Kalvakuntla constitution or the Nizam constitution should come.
There is a culture that on behalf of the Telangana people, Talambralu are given to the Bhadrachalam temple for Sri Rama Navami. But the Chief Minister today does not follow this culture. KCR hurts the sentiment of all the people. He even hurt the sentiments of Dalit people. He also said that he will make a Dalit as Chief Minister, give 3 acres of land to Dalits and also give Dalit Bandhu. The Dalit bandhu has become BRS Bandhu today. You (KCR) go for iftar parties, it is your wish but you do not come to Bhadrachalam,” he added.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy also pointed out that in the Indian constitution, there is nowhere it has been mentioned that a Chief Minister and their family cannot be questioned by law enforcement agencies or the judiciary over scam allegations.
He further said, “Today in Delhi, Kejriwal is asking how can a Chief Minister been given notice. Ambedkar has given equal rights to everyone in the Indian Constitution. He did not give one right to Chief Minister for scams and another right to the common people. Whether Chief Minister or anyone else, it is the responsibility of the state police, High court, Supreme court, CBI and ED to enquire when there are allegations.
“The CM’s family should answer if there is anywhere in the Constitution that enquiry should not be done on the Chief Minister or Chief Minister’s family when there are allegations. Here also BRS party has set up a national party today to loot the country as it is not enough for them to loot Telangana. Union Government is not afraid of any of these atrocities,” he added.
