Telangana: ‘Won’t say Modi is a broker for Adani’, KTR’s jibe at BJP

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: IT minister KT Rama Rao on Monday said that he will not call Prime Minister Narendra Modi a broker even though the entire country was saying this. He was responding to BJPs comments on chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao being called a ‘broker’.

Speaking at the Atmiya Sammelanam Sabha in Rajanna Sircilla district, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader said, “I can call Prime Minister a broker for Adani.” His comment was followed by huge claps from the public.

KTR waited for the accolades to stop. “But I won’t,” he said after a pause leading to more cheers.

“I can use words like broker, loafer, and luccha. We have the guts to say things that will remind you of your father,” he said followed by a roaring cheer.

He was reacting to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bandi Sanjay’s broker comments on chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) paper leak issue.

“He (Bandi Sanjay) wrote that TSPSC is the work of KTR. He called the chief minister a broker. Do they think I can’t say that their Prime Minister is a broker to Adani? I can but I won’t because I have cultural values,” said KTR.

Referring to the MLA poaching case, the IT minister said, “BJP’s general secretary B L Santhosh sent fake swamijis to negotiate to buy four BRS MLA. Should we call him a broker and a dalal?”

Kashmiri farmers spreading fragrance of success: PM Modi

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday said that Kashmiri farmers were spreading the fragrance of their success.

In his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the PM talked about the farmers who had shifted towards growing lavender and the benefits they were receiving through the government’s aroma scheme.

“Another effort by the Kashmiri farmers is spreading the fragrance of its success. There is a small town Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. The farmers there traditionally used to grow maize, but some farmers decided to do something innovative. They shifted towards floriculture. Under this, around 2500 farmers are growing lavender. They have also benefitted from the aroma scheme of the government. This has increased their income several times. And today, along with the lavender, the fragrance of their success is also spreading,” he said.

The PM pointed out the rising demand for lotus stems in Kashmir known by local name ‘Nadru’.

“Whenever we talk about Kashmir or Srinagar, the pictures of the mountains and Dal Lake come in front of us. We all want to enjoy the scenic beauty, but there is one more speciality attached to it. Dal Lake is also known for its delicious lotus stems. They are known by different names in the country, and in Kashmir, they are referred to as Nadru,” he said.

The PM said that looking at the rising demand for Nadru, the farmers had created a Farmers Producer Organisation (FPO), and 250 farmers had become a part of it.

“Today, the farmers are able to export the produce of FPOs to foreign countries. Recently, they sent two sets to UAE. This is not just taking up the name of Kashmir, but also increasing the income of the farmers,” he said.

The PM also paid tribute to the woman power.

“This is the time of Navratri, the time to worship Shakti. Today, the potential of India which is emerging from a new perspective, our woman power has a very big role in it. Recently, many such examples have emerged before us. You must have seen Asia’s first female loco pilot Surekha Yadav on social media. Surekha ji, setting another record, has also become the first woman loco pilot of Vande Bharat Express as well,” he said.

Referring to film producer Guneet Monga, whose documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ won the Oscar award earlier this month, the PM said, “This month producer Guneet Monga and director Kartiki Gonsalves brought laurels to the country by winning an Oscar for their documentary, ‘The Elephant Whisperers’.

“Sister Jyotirmayi Mohanty, Scientist of Bhabha Atomic Research Center has also notched another achievement for the country. Jyotirmoyee has received a special award from IUPAC in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering. Earlier this year, India’s Under-19 women’s cricket team created history by winning the T-20 World Cup.”

Referring to women in politics, he said, “If you look at politics, a new beginning has taken place in Nagaland. In Nagaland, for the first time in 75 years, two women legislators have reached the Vidhan Sabha through their victory. One of them has also been made a minister in the Government of Nagaland, that is, for the first time the people of the state have also got a woman minister.”

The PM also mentioned women members of the NDRF contingent, which had gone for relief and rehabilitation work in quake-hit Turkey. “India has also deployed a women-only platoon in the peacekeeping force under the UN mission,” he said. The PM also referred to Group Captain Shalija Dhami, the first woman Air Force officer to get a Command Appointment in a Combat Unit. He also mentioned Captain Shiva Chauhan of the Indian Army, the first woman officer to be posted at Siachen. The PM also highlighted the importance of organ donation and solar energy in his broadcast.

  • PM Modi always targets the Gandhis. Why is he not disqualified, asks Maha Cong chief

PM Modi always targets the Gandhis. Why is he not disqualified, asks Maha Cong chief

    [ad_1]

Nagpur: In the wake of Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha following his conviction in a defamation case, Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Sunday asked why Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not facing a similar action for constantly criticising Sonia Gandhi and late PM Rajiv Gandhi.

He said Rahul Gandhi was being punished for becoming the voice of the people, and added that his disqualification was against democratic values.

Members of the Nagpur District Congress Committee and party workers led by Patole, former Union minister Vilas Muttemwar and other leaders staged a day-long ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ protest at the Sanvidhan square to show their solidarity with Rahul Gandhi.

“Democracy in the country is facing a big threat because of the Modi-led government’s autocratic rule. Rahul Gandhi had been constantly raising the issue of fugitive economic offenders Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi, who ran away with the country’s money. This is what the Opposition does and it is the duty of the government to reply,” Patole said in a press conference during the protest.

“The country’s prime minister constantly attacked the Gandhi family and their (BJP) ministers insulted former Congress president Sonia Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. They call Rahul Gandhi anti-national, forgetting that he is the grandson of a freedom fighter and son of a martyr. They are targeting members of a family who have sacrificed their lives and this fight is against this mindset of calling a nationalist an anti-national,” he alleged.

Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two years in jail for calling Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi thieves, he claimed.

“I want to question why there is no action against PM Modi, who constantly attacks Sonia Gandhi and called Rajiv Gandhi ‘chor’ (thief)? Why is he not getting this kind of punishment?” he asked.

Rahul Gandhi was becoming the voice of people, and disqualifying him from the Lok Sabha was against the values of democracy and injustice to him, Patole said.

The Congress leader announced that a huge rally will be taken out on March 29 against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at various places across India.

Gandhi, representing Wayanad parliamentary constituency in Kerala, was on Friday disqualified from the Lok Sabha, a day after his conviction in a defamation case by a court in Surat in Gujarat.

The court sentenced Gandhi to two years in jail in the defamation case over his “Modi surname” remarks at a 2019 poll rally in Karnataka. However, the court also granted him bail and suspended the sentence for 30 days to allow him to appeal in a higher court.

SRINAGAR: During his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the increasing popularity of lotus stems in Kashmir, referred to as ‘Nadru‘ by locals.

“Whenever we talk about Kashmir or Srinagar, the pictures of the mountains and Dal jheel come in front of us. We all want to enjoy the scenic beauty, but there is one more speciality attached to it. Dal jheel is also known for its delicious Lotus stems. They are known by different names in the country, and in Kashmir, they are referred to as ‘Nadru’,” he said.

He further stated that in response to the growing demand for Nadru, farmers have established a Farmers Producer Organization (FPO), which currently comprises 250 farmers.

“Today, the farmers are able to export the FPOs to foreign countries. Recently, they sent two sets to UAE. This is not just taking up the name of Kashmir, but also increasing the income of the farmers,” he said.

The Prime Minister also discussed the farmers who have transitioned to cultivating lavender and the advantages they are obtaining through the government’s Aroma Mission initiative.

“Another effort by the Kashmiri farmers is spreading the fragrance of its success. Actually, there is a small town Bhadarwah, in the Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir. The farmers there traditionally used to grow maize, but some farmers decided to do something innovative. They shifted towards floriculture. Under this, around 2,500 farmers are growing lavender. Karnataka: Modi appeals to voters not to believe in Cong’s guarantee schemes

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday made an appeal to the voters in poll-bound Karnataka not to believe in the guarantee schemes assured by the Congress.

“Congress leaders are promising guarantee schemes. Himachal Pradesh is an example that guarantee schemes do not work. They made tall promises there and did not give anything in the budget,” he said.

Addressing a mega rally in Davanagere, Modi said the objective of uplifting Dalits and tribals is a priority for the BJP, and to fulfil these obligations, there is a need for clear majority.

“Do you want a stable government,” the Prime Minister asked the gathering, adding, “We have not neglected the Dalits and tribals, nor exploited them. Karnataka has suffered in the past due to opportunist coalition governments.”

“There should be a BJP government with a clear mandate in Karnataka. If majority is not attained, it will not help the state. A stable government is a must. A strong government should be in place for the future of Karnataka,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister maintained that as a double-engine government is in place, the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, Whitefield Metrolink and other projects could take shape in Karnataka.

“The Congress-JD(S) coalition government had stopped the benefits of PM Kisan Samman Yojna,” he said.

“BJP won the Mayoral elections in Kalaburagi, the hometurf of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. The march of victory has begun from there,” Modi added.

Slamming Opposition leader Siddaramaiah, Modi referred to the video in which Siddaramaiah is seen slapping a Congress worker and said that those who cannot respect their own workers are talking about respecting the common man.

Rahul Gandhi penalised for insulting backward classes: Sushil Modi

    [ad_1]

Patna: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is penalised as he insulted the people from backward classes and the BJP has nothing to do with it.

“The court has convicted him for insulting people who have Modi surname. He has insulted the backward class people and the court has given him punishment. BJP has nothing to do with it,” he said.

“Congress has a number of prominent lawyers. Why they did not put their arguments strongly. I personally believe that there is a conspiracy going on within the Congress party to eliminate Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

“I have also filed a criminal defamation case against Rahul Gandhi in a lower court of Patna and its hearing is scheduled in the month of April this year,” Sushil Modi said.

“The way actions were taken against Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, Nitish Kumar is highly pleased with it. After the conviction of Rahul Gandhi, Nitish Kumar’s mission to present himself as PM candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections have gained strength. After the action on Tejashwi Yadav by central agencies, the pressure from Nitish Kumar has released… He is enjoying the moment. His party leaders giving statements to support these two leaders is merely a show-off,” the BJP leader added.

Modi Government`s Big Decision! LPG Cylinder To Cost Rs 200 Less For These Consumers

NEW DELHI: The government on Friday extended the Rs 200 per LPG cylinder subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) by one year in the wake of high prices of petroleum products in the international market. The move will benefit 9.6 crore families. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved a subsidy of Rs 200 per 14.2 kg cylinder for up to 12 refills per year to be provided to the beneficiaries of PMUY, I&B Minister Anurag Thakur told reporters.

As of March 1, 2023, there were 9.59 crore PMUY beneficiaries. Further, the minister said the total expenditure will be Rs 6,100 crore for the financial year 2022-23 and Rs 7,680 crore for 2023-24.

The subsidy is credited directly to the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries. Thakur said there has been a sharp increase in international prices of LPG due to various geopolitical reasons and it is important to shield PMUY beneficiaries from high LPG prices.

An official release said that targeted support to PMUY consumers encourages them for continuous use of LPG.

“It is important to ensure sustained LPG adoption and usage among PMUY consumers so that they can completely switch to cleaner cooking fuel,” it said.

The average LPG consumption of PMUY consumers has increased by 20 per cent from 3.01 refills in 2019-20 to 3.68 in 2021-22. All PMUY beneficiaries are eligible for the targeted subsidy.

  • Karnataka: PM Modi makes a strong pitch for return of BJP

Karnataka: PM Modi makes a strong pitch for return of BJP

    [ad_1]

Davanagere: Making a powerful pitch for the return of the BJP government in Karnataka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged the people of the State where Assembly polls are due by May, to give the party a full majority for a stable government.

Stressing that fast-paced development was the need of the hour, he urged the people of Karnataka to help bring the State out of the “politics of manipulation”. The BJP wanted to make the State a driving force of developed India, while the Congress looked at it as “an ATM that fills the treasury of its leaders”, he alleged.

“Karnataka has seen a long period of opportunistic and selfish coalition governments. Karnataka has faced losses due to such governments. So, for fast-paced development of Karnataka, BJP’s full majority, and stable government is needed,” Modi said.

Addressing a mega public meeting here, he asked, “When no one gets full majority, will Karnataka be in bad shape or not? Do you want a strong and stable government or not? Do you want a government with full majority or not?

“The first job should be to bring Karnataka out of the politics of manipulation and take it forward at a fast pace,” he said.

Speaking at the rally held to mark the culmination of the BJP’s statewide ‘Vijay Sankalpa Yatre’ ahead of the Assembly polls, Modi asked the people if they wanted him to serve them and Karnataka. “If I have to serve you and do something for you, I will need BJP’s strong government in Karnataka, and you will have to make BJP win and bring in its strong government,” he asserted.

‘Vijaya Sankalpa Yatres’ had begun earlier this month from four different directions across the State, in specially-designed vehicles or “rathas”, and have covered all 224 Assembly segments.

Targeting the opposition Congress, Modi said its leaders had been “wandering with a bag of false guarantees” ahead of elections. He claimed that the promises Congress had made ahead of polls in Himachal Pradesh did not find mention in their recent budget there.

“Can we trust Congress that makes false promises? Should they be allowed to place a step inside Karnataka or should they be thrown out,” he asked, adding that people of Karnataka should be cautious and not give them an opportunity “to play their game”.

Claiming that the Congress did not have any positive agenda for the country and Karnataka, Modi alleged that the opposition party had been dreaming and even publicly saying, “Modi teri kabr kudegi” (Modi, your grave will be dug).

“But they don’t know that the people of Karnataka are saying, ‘Modi tera Kamal khilega’ (Modi, your lotus will bloom),” he said

  • US Congressman asks PM Modi to reverse Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification

US Congressman asks PM Modi to reverse Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification

    [ad_1]

Washington: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha is a “deep betrayal” of Gandhian philosophy, an influential Indian-origin Congressman said on Friday.

Gandhi, the former Congress president, was on Friday disqualified from the Lok Sabha, nearly 24 hours after a court in Surat in the state of Gujarat convicted him in a defamation case.

“The expulsion of Rahul Gandhi from parliament is a deep betrayal of Gandhian philosophy and India’s deepest values,” Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna said in a tweet.

“This is not what my grandfather sacrificed years in jail for,” Khanna said. Khanna represents Silicon Valley in the US House of Representatives.

Khanna, who is the Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian- Americans, has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention on this issue.

“You have the power to reverse this decision for the sake of Indian democracy,” Khanna said in another tweet.

The disqualification will bar 52-year-old Gandhi, a four-time MP, from contesting polls for eight years unless a higher court stays his conviction and sentence.

Meanwhile, George Abraham, vice-chair of the Indian Overseas Congress, USA, termed Gandhi’s disqualification as a sad day for democracy in India.

“It is a sad day for democracy in India. By disqualifying Rahul Gandhi, Modi sarkar is ringing the death knell for the right to free speech and freedom of Indians everywhere,” Abraham said.

“Bringing a frivolous court case against a remark in the heat of a political campaign is shameful and not on par with the spirit of the Constitution regarding freedom of expression,” he added.
