Srinagar, Mar 5 (GNS): Hours after Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a duo for allegedly stalking and intimidating a girl in Srinagar, Regional Transport Officer has ordered for immediate suspension of the Registration Mark of the two-wheeler used in the commission of the offence.

“In view of the complaints on social media and other verified reports and also in view of the fact that an FIR number 35/2023, Dated 05-03-2023 under Section 341, 506, 509, 294, 354D of IPC has been registered in the Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh Srinagar, I am of the considered opinion that Motor Cycle Without Gear (MCWOG) bearing Registration Mark JK01AG-5814 (Owned by Mr. Peerzada Sajad Arif son of Haji Shareef-u-Din, resident of Kwajapora, Srinagar) has been used in commission of the cognizable offence and an act which is likely to cause nuisance and danger to the public and has, therefore, failed to comply with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and the Rules made there under”, reads an order, a copy of which lies with GNS.

“Therefore, in exercise of the powers vested in me under Section 53 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, the Registration Mark JK01AG-5814 is, hereby, suspended with immediate effect”, the order further reads.

The Police in a statement issued earlier, maintained, “On 4-03-2023, a girl was stalked and harassed by two boys, riding a scooty. The boys had made lewd gestures and comments against the girl. The girl had posted about the incident on her social media account and subsequently also approached police post Nehru Park with a written application. On receipt of the complaint, an FIR was lodged under relevant sections of the law in Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station against the accused boys.”

The accused duo was arrested on Sunday and the two-wheeler used by them in the commission of crime also seized by a police team. (GNS)

AI urination incident: DGCA rejects plea to revoke suspension of pilot’s licence

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Aviation regulator DGCA has rejected the plea to revoke the suspension of the licence of an Air India pilot in connection with the urination incident onboard New York-Delhi flight in November last year, according to a source.

The licence of the pilot was suspended for three months by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on January 20.

A joint forum of six unions had also appealed to the regulator to revoke the suspension of the pilot’s licence.

On Wednesday, the source said the appeal of the pilot to revoke the licence suspension has been rejected.

In connection with the urination incident that happened onboard the Air India flight on November 26, 2022, the regulator had suspended the licence of the pilot for three months, imposed a penalty of Rs 30 lakh on the airline and Rs 3 lakh on the director of the carrier’s in-flight services.

The enforcement action was taken by the DGCA citing various lapses in reporting about the incident, which came to the regulator’s notice only on January 4.

On January 24, the forum said that while there is a groundswell of “public pressure” for action, given the serious nature of the allegations of the complainant, there is a need to evaluate the same with the nature of the Pilot-In-Command’s duties and responsibilities, among others and to evaluate the facts that came up before the pilots and crew on the said flight.

Citing various aspects, the forum had asked the regulator to “withdraw the harsh punishment and suspension of the PIC”.

The six unions represented by the forum are Indian Pilots Guild, Indian Commercial Pilots Association, Air Corporation Employees Union, Air India Employees Union, All India Cabin Crew Association and Airline Pilots Association of India.

Amala Akkineni’s message to protect dogs sparks outrage after Hyderabad incident

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Actress Amala Akkineni, who is also a well-known animal lover and activist, recently sparked mixed reactions on social media with her comments following the tragic mauling of a 4-year-old boy Pradeep by a pack of stray dogs in Hyderabad. While many people are calling for immediate solutions and action, Amala has urged people not to view dogs as enemies, but rather to treat them with love and compassion.

Amala says in her statement, “Please don’t let a few odd incidents turn you against dogs and make them your enemies. If we love them, they will love us back tenfold. Killing and hitting dogs is not the answer here.”

“The relationship between humans and dogs dated back to over 50,000 years ago and due to rare incidents like this, all dogs shouldn’t be harmed,” she added.

Amala’s point is that we must recognize the root causes of these incidents in order to respond in a civilized and compassionate manner. She emphasizes that one of the primary causes of the increase in stray dog populations is a lack of effective animal birth control measures. Instead of resorting to violence or hatred towards dogs, we must work towards long-term solutions that prioritize the safety and well-being of both humans and animals.

While several social media users slammed Amala for her comments who questioned how anyone can call for love towards dogs who attack people, a section of netizens are urged everyone to understand Amala’s genuine and reasonable intention.

People are saying that she has dedicated her life to promoting animal welfare as an animal lover and activist, and her message is not to excuse or justify the tragic incident, but to encourage people not to generalize dogs based on one or two incidents.
