Srinagar, Mar 17: Police on Friday said that an man who was impersonating as Additional Director (Strategy & Campaigns) PMO for somtime was arrested on 2nd March from a hotel in the summer capital Srinagar after a tip-off by its CID wing.
“On 2nd of March 2023, CID wing of J&K Police gave information to Police about the arrival of an impersonator in Kashmir. SSP Srinagar immediately sent a team led by SP East to the hotel. The particulars of this person were found as Kiran Bhai Patel son of Juddesh Bhai Patel resident of Ahmadabad Gujarat who was impersonating himself as Additional Director (Strategy and campaigns) PMO New Delhi”, reads a statement issued to GNS.
“As his replies were found suspicious, he was taken to Police Station Nishat wherein he admitted his crime. Ten fake visiting cards and two mobiles were seized from him”, the statement reads.
“Based upon this, a case vide FIR No. 19/2023 U/S 419,420,467,468, 471 of IPC was registered in Police Station Nishat on 02/03/2023 and investigation was taken up. A team of SP East Srinagar, SDPO Nehru Park, SHO Nishat are leading the investigation. The accused Kiran Bhai Patel was arrested on 03-03-2023 and is in police remand up to 17-03-2023. Many relevant persons have been examined in this case. Case is at the initial stage of investigation. Further details of this case will be shared later on.”
“It is also pertinent to mention that there are three cases registered against above fraudster in different Police stations in Gujrat: Raopura Police Station, Baroda city Case No I/0064/2019, Case Date: 7/8/2019 IPC 114, 294(KH), 406, 420, 5072, Naroda Police Station Ahmedabad City case No I/0066/2017 Case Date: 24/02/2017 IPC 120B, 406, 420 and Bayad Police Station, Aravali Case No I/0047/2019, Case Date: 22/08/2019 IPC 120B, 406, 420”, the statement reads further. SRINAGAR: In a high profile case, Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested a man from ‘Gujarat’ posing as Additional Director (Strategy & Campaigns) Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi, in summer capital Srinagar.
Reliable sources said that after getting specific information regarding a man identified as Kiran Patel son of Jagdesh Patel posing as Additional Director (Strategy & Campaigns) PMO, New Delhi, the police acted swiftly acted and arrested the person.
Accordingly, an FIR no 19 of 2023 was registered by Srinagar police in Police Station Nishat reads “on 02-03-2023 a reliable information received by Police Station Nishat has revealed that a fraudster namely Kiran Bhai Patel son of Jagdesh Bhai Patel resident of Gujarat has by virtue of criminal intention indulged in activities within the jurisdiction of this police station and other parts of Kashmir valley and by employing high degree of forged means. Kiran Bhai has impersonated himself as senior government official of India.”
“The said individual, by resorting to cheating, forgery and impersonation has duped gullible people and also intentionally induced people to do and also to omit to do activities, under a well-knit plan for securing monetary as well as material benefits,’” the FIR reads.
As per reports, Patel was also be able to get a security from the Jammu and Kashmir police and was staying at Hotel Lalit in Room no 1107. The ‘fraudster’ as per reports had visited multiple places in Kashmir including Doodpatri in central Kashmir’s Budgam district. At Doodpathri the ‘fraudster’ was accompanied by an SDM rank officer.
Sources also revealed that Patel also met at least two Deputy Commissioner during his stay in the valley.
On Thursday, a local court in Srinagar sent Patel to judicial custody.
The fraudster as per FIR has been booked under section 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 IPC at police station Nishat while further investigation into the matter is going on. (KDC)

Reliable sources told Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com that top officers of Jammu and Kashmir police after getting specific information regarding a man identified as Kiran Patel son of Jagdesh Patel posing as Additional Director (Strategy & Campaigns) PMO, New Delhi, swiftly acted and arrested the man in summer capital Srinagar.
Accordingly, an FIR no 19 of 2023 was registered by Srinagar police in Police Station Nishat, a copy of which is in possession with news agency Kashmir Dot Com, reads “on 02-03-2023 a reliable information received by Police Station Nishat has revealed that a fraudster namely Kiran Bhai Patel son of Jagdesh Bhai Patel resident of Gujarat has by virtue of criminal intention indulged in activities within the jurisdiction of this police station and other parts of Kashmir valley and by employing high degree of forged means. Reduced socialising during COVID main reason for suicide cases: IIT Madras Director

Chennai: Indian Institute of Technology Madras Director Kamakotti on Wednesday claimed that the reduced socialisation during the COVID pandemic is the main reason for the suicide incidents which were reported on the campus.
In view of the three suicide incidents since September last year reported on the campus, Kamakotti said that the institution is preparing ‘Complete Suicide Prevention’ inside the premises.
“We are trying to implement everything fast,” he said.
IIT Madras launched the report on ‘Socio-Economic Costs of Suicides in Tamil Nadu’ which was released by state Health Minister M Subramanian. This report speaks about suicides and reasons for suicides and socio cost of suicides in Tamil Nadu.
While speaking to the media, Health Minister M Subramanian said that Madras IIT has launched the report on ‘Socio-Economic Costs of Suicides in Tamil Nadu’.
“This Report also would help with the going steps taken by the Tamil Nadu government to control suicides and accidents,” he said.
While answering the question on recent suicides in Madras IIT campus Minister Subramanian said, ” IIT Madras Director Kamakotti has mentioned suicides. They are not hiding anything. After September, three suicides occurred in Madras IIT. The IIT Director has pointed out 4 reasons why suicides are taking place in educational institutions. We request everyone that suicide is not a solution for anything. In future, there should be no suicide”.
Kamakotti said that the institution has been impacted by the suicide incidents.

“IIT Madras has also been impacted because of suicides. It is painful. Since September, 3 suicides have happened inside the IIT Madras campus,” he said.
“When we analyse suicide incidents, 4 main reasons we have found for suicides. Health issues, academic pressure, financial issues and personal issues. In each case, any one of these issues would have been there” Kamakotti added.
He said that the administration has taken measures to curb the suicide incidents on campus.
“After each suicide, we analysed to take measures to curb suicide. Each suicide gave us a new angle on such incidents. Specifically, after COVID, the personal touch has reduced among students. Group activities were reduced during the COVID period typically during the lockdown 2020 – 2021. Students who joined that time after their schooling never met their seniors and classrooms and they were alone at that time. This is a big challenge for us,” he said.
Detailing the steps taken to stop the suicide incidents, Kamakotti said that the administration is planning to create complete suicide prevention on the campus.
“Now we have studied the whole problem and we are planning to create complete suicide prevention in Madras IIT. We are trying to implement everything fast. This would help coming batches to completely stops suicide. Faculties, Patents and student committees all should involve and stop this. For sure there is an end to this and very soon we will implement everything. Zero suicide nation is our goal,” he said.
“Socialising is reduced during COVID is the main reason for suicides,” he added.

OMB director fires back at Republicans over debt ceiling

Their proposal stood in contrast to Biden’s budget proposal released Thursday; his plan calls for a 7 percent increase over current non-defense spending levels and higher taxes on wealthier Americans.
The OMB director said it was good the House Freedom Caucus put their plan out, as it allows for a clear contrast of the priorities between the president and House Republicans. She also noted that the debt ceiling was raised three times during the Trump administration without these type of conditions.
Though the Freedom Caucus plan did not call for cuts to Social Security, Young said that Republican policies post a threat to it.
“Let me be clear, the top existential threat to Social Security is those in this town that want to cut it,” Young told Collins. “I wish we were in the part of the debate where we could talk about extending. This president chose to focus on protecting benefits.”
Speaking later on the same CNN program, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) said she was bothered by Young’s remarks on the debt ceiling and negotiations.
“The comments by the director of OMB on this program a few moments ago were disturbing to me just not even as a member of Congress, but as an American,” Mace said, adding: “We should be negotiating on this issue. This shouldn’t be one-sided.”

New Academic Session Will Begin Soon After Culmination of Ongoing Exams: Director School Education Tassaduq Hussain

Srinagar, Mar 9: Director School Education Kashmir Tassaduq Hussain on Thursday said the department is fully prepared for starting of new academic session on the culmination of ongoing exams.
Talking to mediapersons, on the sidelines of a function here, Tassaduq Hussain said that the new academic activities will be started soon after the culmination of annual ongoing examination as we have already set a timeline in our sight.
“The ground staff is all set with all necessary modalities”, he said.
Asked about the charging of annual fee by private institutions, Hussain said people need to report it to us and we will accordingly initiate action. “From wherever we will receive any written complaint about any private institution charging annual fee, we will definitely act tough against such institutions”, he said.
The Director also clarified that as of now there is no coaching centre from Srinagar registered with the them (DSEK).
“We have not registered any coaching centre here in Srinagar neither have we fixed any fee”, he said adding the coaching centres are being run arbitrarily and the owners also charging fee on their own. (GNS)

Trump’s CDC director says Fauci shut down debate on Covid’s origin

Redfield said Fauci, who led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the time, and Collins left him out because Redfield suspected the coronavirus had leaked from the Chinese lab.
Fauci, who was not at the hearing, dismissed Redfield’s accusation as “completely untrue.”
“No one excluded anyone,” he told POLITICO after the hearing.
“And the idea of saying that he was not wanted there because he had a different opinion … there were several people on the call who had the opinion that it might have been an engineered virus,” said Fauci, who retired from his government post at the end of last year.
Collins, who is now a science adviser to President Joe Biden, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. He has previously said he shares Fauci’s view that the virus likely came from nature, but that a lab leak was possible.
Redfield thought the highly infectious nature of the virus distinguished it from other coronaviruses and made it unlikely to have evolved naturally, he told representatives.
Fauci and others said it most likely came from a natural spillover from animals, as was the case with other coronaviruses, such as SARS and MERS, Redfield said.
The former CDC director said he later found out he was excluded from a Feb. 1, 2020, conference call with Fauci and Jeremy Farrar, a U.K. scientist who at the time led the Wellcome Trust, and other conversations that resulted in the publication of an article in Nature in March 2020 dismissing the possibility of the virus originating in a lab. Farrar is now the World Health Organization’s top scientist.

Fauci told POLITICO he was not involved in the drafting of the article.
But Republican representatives at the hearing accused Fauci of having orchestrated it to deflect attention from U.S. funding research at the Wuhan lab.
“I think Dr. Fauci and Dr. Collins got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. They got caught supercharging viruses in an unsecured Chinese lab,” said James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.
Fauci has repeatedly denied that the NIH financed so-called gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab. That research aims to make viruses either more lethal or more transmissible or both to find ways to combat them.
Some Democratic representatives at the hearing warned that accusing Fauci of ill motives would further erode trust in government health officials, threatening public health.
“I want the facts, but I hope and say to my colleagues on the other side: We cannot go down a dangerous path by pushing unfounded conspiracies about Dr. Fauci and other long-serving career public health officials,” said Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.).

Hyderabad: Vishwanath Suresh joined as the commercial director for National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) on Monday. He has been appointed as a functional director on the board of NMDC, India’s largest iron ore producer.
Previously Suresh held the post of executive director (Coal Import) and with an additional charge of ED (Corporate Materials Management) at Steel Authority of India (SAIL).
