Kashmir Artists Await Payment As Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar Owes Over Rs 25 Crore

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: The Doordarshan Kendra in Srinagar has failed to release payments for work done by private producers, production houses, and individuals, resulting in liabilities of over Rs. 25 crore that are still pending. This was revealed by DD Srinagar in response to an RTI application filed by MM Shuja.

According to available records, the total old liability till date is reported to be Rs. 25,43,13,530. There has reportedly been no communication to Prasar Bharati for releasing funds to meet this liability.

The matter of the old liability falls under the purview of the Directorate of Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar. Due to a lack of funds, Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar has stopped airing eight programs over the last four years, including “Butrat,” “Baat Say Baat Nikli,” “Rozgar Bulletin,” “Shugufe, Bamun,” “Hum Qadam,” “Suni Dharti,” “Quiz Program,” and “Balti Program.”

Renowned artist Zameer Ashai told the news agency KNT that no payments have been made to producers for the last nine years, and everyone is in trouble. “I personally met CEO Prasar Bharati in New Delhi and apprised him of the prevailing situation. Even the artist fraternity talked to him in detail when he visited Srinagar. The liability is still there,” he said, adding that even new work has now been stopped.

Another artist, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said they were baffled by the way things are being handled. “I don’t know what’s happening in New Delhi. I must say the ‘Golden Era’ of Doordarshan Srinagar is already over,” they said. [KNT]

Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Monday announced Rs 25 crore for the construction of Hare Krishna Heritage Tower in the city.

The Hare Krishna Movement (HKM) organized Bhumi Puja ceremony for the monument, which is 400 feet (120 meters) tall and is meant to be major religious and cultural landmark in Hyderabad.

Taken up at a cost of Rs 200 crore, the tower consists of temples that have a linkage through various religions and will likely be completed by 2028.

    MS Education Academy

    About the Tower

The Tower will be constructed on a sprawling six-acre campus at Goshpada Kshetra (land sanctified by cows) in Narsingi. The deities’ of Radha and Krishna along with the eight gopis known as Asthasakhis, will be installed in the grand temple hall.

A traditional stone-carved temple with a large prakara dedicated to Sri Srinivasa Govinda, inspired by the world-renowned Sri Venkateshwara Swamy shrine in Tirumala will be there in the Tower that will draw architectural elements from Kakatiya, Chalukya, Dravidian and other ancient styles.

The campus will have features like a library, museum, and multi-vision theatre for the spiritual and cultural education of children, youth, and families.

Various attractions integrated with the latest technologies, such as hologram and laser projection, will create engaging and immersive experiences for visitors and present our rich culture and heritage in a captivating manner, a grand vaidika samkara hall and pilgrim guest rooms have also been built that can be utilized for large gatherings.

Speaking after laying the foundation for the Hare Krishna Movement’s Heritage Tower at Narsingi, KCR said that the state government would extend all support to organizations, which follow peaceful, devotional practices.

“I am really proud to be here among all of you to share joyous moments. A very very devotional beautiful temple will come up very shortly in Hyderabad,” said KCR.

Recalling that the Telangana government has built the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Yadadri in a very decent way and was being appreciated by one and all, KCR said that the Anjaneya Swamy Temple at Kondagattu and Vemulawada and Kaleshwaram temples are also under construction.

Stating that the Hare Krishna Heritage Tower should serve society in both devotional and social ways, KCR said, “If you want to have peace, it can be derived from prayers at temples and other religious structures.”

“Religious ignorance among people creates trouble for humans. No religion promotes hatred but religious ignorance takes people into a trance and forces them to perform inhuman activities,” added KCR.

“Right from school children to IT employees, many were relishing hot, hygienic, and nutritious food through Annapurna Centres. Not a single complaint has been lodged to date. After relishing the food, students and even high-income group people were appreciating the state government and Akshaya Patra Foundation,” added KCR.

  • Maha: Aaditya seeks answers from BMC on street furniture ‘scam’ of Rs 263 crore

Maha: Aaditya seeks answers from BMC on street furniture ‘scam’ of Rs 263 crore

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray has written a letter to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner and administrator Iqbal Singh Chahal, seeking answers from him over the Rs 263 crore worth “possible scam” in buying street furniture.

In his letter written on April 26, which Thackeray tweeted on Sunday, he sought access to the report of the three-member fact-finding committee formed after the allegations were made and also to the reports of quality tests of all the bidders conducted by the Veer Jijamata Technological University.

He also alleged that the “entire process seems to be rigged in favour of a particular contractor friend of the BMC”.

    MS Education Academy

“In the past few months, many irregularities in processes and financial transactions have come to light from the BMC…I would like to seek further clarity on the street furniture mess that the BMC has created in my city, more so the hard-earned money of my city, to benefit one contractor friend of the BMC and those in government,” the Worli MLA said targeting the Eknath Shinde-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dispensation.

“…One contractor has bagged the Rs 263 crore tender for street furniture. Many questions asked by me as a Mumbaikar have remained unanswered by the BMC,” he said.

Last month, Thackeray alleged a Rs 263 crore worth of “scam” in the Mumbai civic body’s plan to buy street furniture, including benches.

The civic body is set to buy thousands of street benches (almost 40,000) and planters (containers in which plants are grown) as part of the project, said Thackeray and asked where will the BMC install all these items.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said these products should be purchased on need basis by civic wards and not centrally through one tender.

“I have written about another possible scam in the making to the @mybmc administrator, seeking clarity on it. His conspicuous silence and inability to answer any of these questions posed by a Mumbaikar only increases the confirmation that this too, like roads, is a scam,” Thackeray said in his tweet posted on Sunday.

“A similar letter was written by a ruling party MLA also, but I believe he hasn’t got any response to it. Wonder why the state BJP supports the corrupt mindhe regime,” he added.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) refers the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena as “Mindhe group” to mock it.

  • FPIs bought equity worth Rs 9,752 crore in April

FPIs bought equity worth Rs 9,752 crore in April

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Foreign portfolio investors turned aggressive buyers in the last few days of April.

FPIs have bought equity worth Rs 9,752 crore till April 29.

V.K. Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services said FPIs appear to have changed their investment strategy in India in recent days.

    MS Education Academy

While they were sellers in the initial three months of this year, they have turned buyers in April and aggressive buyers in the last few days of April. FPIs have bought equity worth Rs 9,752 crore till April 29.

Vijayakumar said an important macro factor that has tilted the FPI approach is the appreciation in rupee.

Rupee which had touched a low of 82.94 (INR) to the dollar in late February this year has now appreciated to INR 81.75 to the dollar. India’s Current Account Deficit is declining and if this trend continues the rupee may appreciate further.

FPIs are likely to bring more inflows into India in this context. FPIs have been buying in financial services and auto and auto components, he added.

The monthly economic review for March released by the finance ministry said the narrowing of the CAD, accompanied by a rising inflow of foreign portfolio investment (FPI) resulted in an increase in foreign exchange reserves by the end of third quarter of 2022-23.

With forex reserves further increasing by the end of 2022-23, prospects of a still narrower CAD in the fourth quarter of 2022-23 are bright.

Even as external stability strengthened, factors contributing to internal stability also improved.

Fiscal parameters for the Centre and the states in 2022-23 have been robust, as seen in solid revenue generation and improvement in the quality of expenditure, the document said.
