    SRINAGAR: Following the completion of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and its calibration, Srinagar airport authorities are expecting the commissioning of the new ILS CAT II by mid-July this year.

    Director Srinagar International Airport Kuldeep Singh Rishi told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the installation process of ILS Cat II has been completed. He said the approach procedure designing process will commence in mid-May and the commissioning of the new ILS CAT II is expected by mid-July.

    “The installation of ILS Cat II has already been completed and the calibration of this new system has also been completed on March 30 this year. The ILS approach procedure designing process will commence in mid-May, and the commissioning of new ILS CAT II is expected by mid-July,” he said.

    As per the officials, the upgradation of ILS CAT II will ensure that flight operations are undertaken in low visibility, particularly during foggy weather conditions.

    For the past several years, people have been demanding the installation of the latest ILS at the airport, and with the new ILS CAT II in place, it is believed that with the new functionality, the visibility threshold would increase to 600 meters and help in smooth night landings as well.

    The CAT-II or CAT-III facility is a radio navigation system that provides guidance to aircraft to approach a runway at night or in bad weather.

    It is pertinent to mention here that a Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture in its report had flayed the government for the non-availability of the latest Instrument Landing System (ILS) CAT-II or CAT-III at the Srinagar International Airport. (KNO)

    San Francisco: Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Sunday mocked Meta for planning to launch a dedicated Twitter-like social media application and called it “copy cat”.

    It all started when the music news website Daily Loud posted: “Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta exploring plans to launch a rival to Twitter.”

    On this, a user asked: “Why tho? is he like people are mad at Elon musk, I’ll make an alternative because everyone loves me and Facebook so much.”

    Commenting on this conversation, Musk said: “Copy cat.”

    Several users expressed their thoughts on Musk’s post.

    While one user said: “I’m sure people will by dying to join another Meta platform plagued with ‘independent fact checkers’ suppressing conversations and content moderators taking down memes. Sounds fun!”

    Another commented: “Facebook should start making rockets and electric cars as well since they so ‘good’ at what they do.”

    Recently, it was reported that Meta is building a dedicated Twitter-like social media application for people to post text-based updates.

    The product is still in its early stages, and no release date has been set, but legal and regulatory teams have already begun to investigate potential privacy concerns surrounding the app to address them before launch.

    Several rival platforms have launched or gained traction in the months since Musk took over the micro-blogging platform – among them include Mastodon, Post.news, and T2.

    Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday issued notices to the department of personnel and training, the Ministry of Personnel Public Grievances and others seeking counters over a PIL challenging the rules and practices governing the recruitment of members to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).

    President of the CAT’s Bar Association, B Gurudas, a petitioner and an attorney in this case has brought up the legal question of how someone without legal expertise could be appointed as a judicial member of the tribunal.

    The petition states that according to Section 6 (2) (b) of the Administrative Tribunals Act, the judicial member shall not be a member of the Administrative Tribunal unless he is a judge of a High Court or is qualified to be one or has held the position of member-secretary, Law Commission of India for at least two years, or has held the position of additional secretary to the Government of India in the department of legal affairs and Legislative department at least for a period of five years.

    The petitioner held the act as a breach of the law for selecting someone who has only held administrative positions without having a background in law.

    He further argued that a person from the legal profession must be recruited for the post.

    The earthquakes damaged nearly 2,64,000 apartments in Turkey, making it difficult for rescuers to find people trapped beneath the rubble. They have, however, fought against all odds to save lives.

    Several videos have emerged from the earthquake-ravaged country showing incredible human and animal rescues. A member of the Mardin Fire Department rescued a cat a few days ago, and it now refuses to leave his side.

    Anton Gerashchenko, the advisor to Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, shared the news on social media.

    On February 16, he took to Twitter and shared a video of the cat with its rescuer. The video shows the cat, named ‘Rubble,’ perched on the rescuer’s shoulder and cuddling up against his face.

    He shared another update about the cat on Saturday, saying that the cat had been adopted by the rescuer himself.

    “I posted yesterday about a cat saved from the rubble in Turkey who refused to leave his rescuer’s side. The rescuer’s name is Ali Cakas and he adopted the cat, naming him Enkaz – “rubble” in Turkish. May they have a happy life together!” Gerashchenkosaid in the caption.

    The replies to the post were filled with comments of positivity and jubilation over the development.

    The post has amassed about 5.8 M views and 17.6K retweets.
