Video: Man flies in air as car hits him in Hyderabad’s Nagole

Hyderabad: Two individuals were hurt when they were struck by a speeding car in Nagole on Thursday evening.

The driver of the car, which was driving two women, lost control and struck a woman first before hitting a man who was strolling alongside the road.

The injured man was recognised as Jai Babu of Kushaiguda. He was looking into his phone while walking and was flung into the air and landed 20 metres away.

Video: Men in ‘luxury car’ caught stealing flowerpots put out for G20 in Haryana

A video showing two men reportedly stealing flowerpots set up for the impending G20 meeting in Haryana’s Gurugram went viral on Tuesday, forcing the city’s development administration to take action against the offenders.

“It (viral video) has come to our cognizance and action will be taken against them,” SK Chahal, Joint CEO of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority told news agency ANI.

DC Gurugram responded to the tweet and asked the city police to look into the matter.

The one-minute video shows the two men standing alongside their car, which has a VIP number plate, in Gurugram’s Shankar Chowk, picking flowerpots one after the other and storing them in the trunk.

At the moment of posting, the video had received over 5 lakh views and over 3500 ‘likes’ on Twitter. Hundreds of comments were left on the post, with many poking fun at the situation and others highlighting the price of the car featured in the video.

According to District Commissioner (DC) Nishant Kumar Yadav, representatives from 39 nations are anticipated to attend this event where they will discuss the anti-corruption initiatives implemented in their nations, the degree to which they were successful in reducing corruption, and what else needs to be done.

Hyderabad: Suspended BJP MLA Raja Singh gets new bulletproof car

Hyderabad: The city police department replaced the BR (bulletproof) vehicle of Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh and provided him with a white coloured Fortuner bullet resistant vehicle on Monday. The vehicle was sent to his residence.

However, the MLA is out of town on some personal work and police department officials communicated to him about the decision to replace his old black car with a white coloured vehicle. BJP Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh, who is currently still under suspension, is reportedly also exploring all options including contesting as ondependent candidate from Amberpet constituency once held by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy.

Earlier, Raja Singh held a protest demanding his vehicle be replaced because it is developing snags. In early February, Raja Singh held a protest outside chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s official residence Pragathi Bhavan. The Goshamahal left his car there after one of the tyres came-off while he was commuting. The next day, he went to the Legislative Assembly on his motorcycle.

Raja Singh reportedly faces a security threat and has been provided with a BR vehicle and has also been extended with a 2 + 2 security cover. Raja Singh is also currently facing a gag order from the Telangana high court, which doesn’t allow him to hold rallies or public events in the state.

With state elections approaching in the next six months, Raja Singh has managed to circumvent the gag order by participating in Hindutva rallies outside the state. He has been doing the same from the last few weeks in Maharashtra. It has been learnt that the two-time Goshamahal MLA is reportedly exploring all options, including contesting as an independent candidate from Amberpet constituency that was earlier held by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy in Hyderabad.

BJP looking at other faces for Goshamahal?

Sources closer to the MLA said Raja Singh is quite confident of his win from Goshamahal or Amberpet seat in 2023 assembly elections. The Goshamahal constituency has six sitting BJP corporators and at least two of them are aspiring to get an MLA ticket from the party because already Raja Singh contested twice.

Raj Singh is currently out on bail after he was arrested for his derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad last year, which led to several protests. While quashing Singh’s detention in jail under the PD Act last year, the High Court, as part of its bail order, warned the BJP MLA was told not to make provocative speeches or speak in public.

So far, a case has already been registered against him in recent times for violating the court orders (with the Mangalhat police station). He was served another notice by the Hyderabad police on January 29 for a hate speech in Mumbai. Raja Singh is currently unable to carry out political campaigns or hold public rallies as he would have ideally done in the run-up to the polls. It is unsure how the state judiciary will react to him making speeches outside, with the logic that it is beyond the HC’s jurisdiction.

BJP exploring other options?

On the other hand, sources also told Siasat.com that the BJP state leadership reportedly interacted some members of the Lodh Kshatriya community, which Raja Singh belongs to. Sources said at least two members of the community had evinced interest in contesting the elections this year from Goshamahal if the party gives them a ticket. Nevertheless, community elders however said they don’t want any conflict in the community over politics.

Student from Kerala dies in UK car crash

London: A 28 year-old Indian student from Kerala died on the spot after being hit by a car which crashed into a bus stop in UK.

Athira Anilkumar Laly Kumari was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which occurred at the junction of Stanningley Road and Cockshott Lane in Leeds last week.

Athira was waiting at the bus stop when a black Volkswagen Golf hit her, as well as another pedestrian in his forties, who continues to recover in a hospital.

“Emergency services attended and found that two pedestrians had suffered serious injuries following the collision, which involved a Volkswagen Golf car and caused damage to a bus stop,” the West Yorkshire Police said.

The Golf driver, a 25-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released on bail as enquiries continue into the collision.

Police said that the Golf had travelled on the Armley Gyratory before it drove down Stanningley Road towards Bradford.

Athira, who lived at Armley Road, was a student of Leeds Beckett University. Her relatives have been informed and they are working to bring the dead body, which is kept in the Bradford hospital mortuary, home, media reports quoted Leeds Malayalee Association as saying.

Andhra Pradesh: Car crushed by truck, three medical students killed

Amaravati: Three medicos were killed in a road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district on Sunday, police said.

The accident occurred near Kuppam town when a car in which they were traveling was crushed under a truck after it was hit by another car from behind.

The accident took place on Palamaner Road in Settipalle village on the outskirts of Kuppam.

According to police, the students from PES Medical College were on their way to Kuppam town to attend the wedding of their classmate.

When the car reached near Settipalle village, it was hit by another car from behind. The car in which the medicos were travelling rolled over several times, landed on the opposite side of the road, and got crushed under a lorry coming from the opposite direction.

All three occupants died on the spot. They were identified as Vikas and Kalyan (house surgeons), and Praveen, a third-year student.

Police rushed to the accident site and retrieved the bodies from the mangled car. The bodies were shifted to the government hospital at Kuppam for autopsy.

Former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu, who represents Kuppam Assembly constituency, expressed deep shock over the death of three medicos.

Naidu said it was unfortunate that the young men who had bright futures ahead of them died in the tragic road accident. He conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased.

Video: Police crack down on tinted car windows in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Hyderabad city police on Saturday launched a special drive against tinted car windows. Traffic police teams were seen checking vehicles on busy roads in the city.

As per the motors vehicle act, adding tinted film on car windows is not allowed and attracts fines.

It is not the first time, earlier too police launched such drives against the tinted car windows in Hyderabad.

Ahead of summer season in Hyderabad, people prefer tinted car windows

Ahead of the summer season in Hyderabad, many people prefer tinted car windows despite the fact that it violates Central Motor Vehicle Rule.

Keeping this in view, Hyderabad police started launching drives against such violations.

As per Central Motor Vehicle Rule 100, it is the responsibility of the car owners to ensure that the visual transmission of light is not less than 70 percent for the windscreen and the rear window.

In the case of side windows, the visual transmission of light must not be less than 50 percent.

Hyderabad police crack down on drunk driving

Apart from the tinted car window, police is conducting regular drives against drunk driving. Last month, the city police booked 4236 cases against violators.

During the campaign against drunk driving in Hyderabad, 72 violators even lost their driving licenses. Minors who were caught driving vehicles were ordered to render community and social services.

Drunk driving is a serious violation in Hyderabad, as well as across India, and the Hyderabad traffic police are taking a tough stance on irresponsible behavior.

Under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, drunk driving is a criminal offense and violators can face severe legal penalties.

There are provisions of imprisonments, fines, and suspension of driving licenses.

In the case of repeat offenders who get caught more than once for drunk driving in Hyderabad and in other parts of the country, penalties can be more severe.
