“I was noticed during a match in Delhi and was told to be in touch. After a few days, I got a call to join KKR pre-IPL camp as a net bowler,” Samiullah said.

He said that his family and friends are happy for him while he is aiming to perform better and seek more opportunities to express his cricketing talent on bigger platforms.

Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment Board polls called off

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) issued a gazette notification on Friday stating that the upcoming Cantonment Board election, scheduled on April 30 has been rescinded.

A notification from the ministry, dated March 17 said the Government of India rescinds its February 17 notification announcing elections to the cantonment boards.

Meanwhile, the SCB officials reportedly claim that the process has been halted temporarily and they are all set to release the revised list of voters.

The Secunderabad cantonment stands as the second largest in the country with one of the densest civilian populations of close to 5 lakh people spread over about 40.17 sq km.

A merger of its civilian localities with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been a long-standing demand while the rapid growth in the state, civilian residents of the cantonment fear they would be left behind.

MoD following the demand, deployed a committee to oversee the aspects (pensioners, cantonment funds, civic services, movable properties and stores, road management and traffic, and records) of the merger that has been submitted.

However, the news of the polls evoked protests from citizen groups and political parties with Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao writing to defense minister Rajnath Singh seeking his intervention on the issue of deletion of names of electors from the voters’ list.

Demanding the restoration of the names, KTR said, “It is a completely illegal and unconstitutional act as none of the electors whose names were deleted from the electors’ list was given any show-cause notice before removal of their names from the list,”

While a case was being heard at the Telangana High Court demanding elections to SCB, another 26 cases were filed before the court seeking cancellation of the election after the February 17 notification.

  • BJP MPs called for Muslim boycott but Modi busy targetting KCR: Owaisi

BJP MPs called for Muslim boycott but Modi busy targetting KCR: Owaisi

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday remarked that while MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have given calls for the economic boycott of Muslims, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is busy targetting Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his family for his ‘leadership in Telangana’s inclusive development’.

Owaisi’s remarks towards the Prime Minister come on the same day as Kavitha’s probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for her role in the Delhi Liquour policy scam case.

“BJP MPs have called for economic boycott of Muslims; they’ve asked people to keep weapons at home. But Modi govt is busy targeting @TelanganaCMO & his family for his leadership in Telangana’s inclusive development,” he tweeted.

He was referring to BJP MP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma’s alleged remarks calling for a ‘total boycott’ of Muslims while speaking at a meeting organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in north-east Delhi’s Dilshad Garden in October 2022.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Kavitha on Saturday joined the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) probe in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy scam case.

She reached the ED office at around 11.05 a.m., and her statement will be recorded under section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

A woman deputy director level official will record her testimony.

Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was summoned to join the probe on Thursday, but she wrote a letter seeking more time after which her questioning was postponed for Saturday.

On Friday, she staged a protest at Jantar Mantar and claimed that she had never met former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, adding that her name was unnecessaryily being dragged into the matter.

According to the ED, Kavitha is also one of the representatives of South Group which allegedly paid a kickback of Rs 100 crore to AAP leaders.

The BRS leader might be confronted with the Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Pillai who was arrested on Friday as the latter is also from the South Group.

“The South Group was represented by Abhishek Boinpally, Arun Pillai and Buchi Babu. Boinpalli facilitated the transfer of Rs 100 crore kickback in connivance and conspiracy with Nair and his associate Dinesh Arora. Now we will have to confront Pillai with Kavitha,” an ED source had said.

Sisodia is currently on ED’s remand.

There are possibilities that Kavitha might be confronted with Sisodia in connection with the alleged kickback.

“Today’s #Crew6 launch has been scrubbed due to an issue with ground systems,” NASA posted on Twitter.

“Unfavourable weather on February 28 makes the next launch attempt at 12.34am ET on March 2, pending resolution of the technical issue,” NASA added.

Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC), in cooperation with the US Space Agency “NASA” and the “SpaceX” control room, announced that the “Falcon 9” missile had been emptied of fuel to conduct the necessary examination.

The center added that the launch of the flight has been postponed until further notice.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, conveyed a message of support to Sultan Al Neyadi after his high-profile mission to the International Space Station was postponed.

Foreign Minister Cassis: government will allow re-exports if Parliament amends the law

Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said that if the parliament changes the law on the export of military equipment, the country’s government should allow the re-export of weapons to Ukraine. His words lead RIA News.

Now the Swiss parliament is studying the possibility of amending the relevant law, and if it is changed, it will become a legal basis “which will force the government to act,” the diplomat called a necessary condition for re-export.

At the end of January, the commission of the National Council supported the initiative allowing the re-export of weapons produced in Switzerland to Ukraine. Subsequently, however, the Security Commission of the Council of Cantons opposed the corresponding initiative.

Switzerland rejected requests from European countries to re-export ammunition to Ukraine, citing the principle of military neutrality, according to which a country can refuse to export military equipment if the state for which it is intended is involved in an international conflict.

Swiss President Alan Berset admitted that the country could lose confidence as a neutral due to the re-export of weapons to Kyiv. He stressed that the state must be committed to its fundamental principles.

  • Manish Sisodia called for questioning by CBI in Delhi Excise Policy case

Manish Sisodia called for questioning by CBI in Delhi Excise Policy case

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The CBI has called Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for questioning in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case nearly three months after filing the charge sheet in the case, officials said Saturday.

Sisodia, called on Sunday for questioning, has not been named as accused in the charge sheet, they said.

Arrested businessmen Vijay Nair and Abhishek Boinpally were among the seven accused named in the charge sheet.

It is alleged the Delhi government’s policy to grant licences to liquor traders favoured certain dealers who had allegedly paid bribes for it, a charge strongly refuted by the AAP.

“It was further alleged that irregularities were committed including in modifications in Excise Policy, extending undue favours to the licensees, waiver/reduction in licence fee, extension of L-1 license without approval etc.

“It was also alleged that illegal gains on count of these acts were diverted to concerned public servants by private parties by making false entries in their books of accounts,” the CBI spokesperson had said.

Video: Dubai launches food delivery robots called ‘talabots’

    [ad_1]

Abu Dhabi: Dubai announced the launch of food delivery robots as part of a drive to promote smart, driverless transportation to achieve zero emissions targets.

The Roads Transport Authority (RTA) in partnership with Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) on Wednesday, announced the pilot launch of autonomous food delivery robots, also known as “talabots”, in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

Three delivery robots will serve the residents of Cedre Villas, a gated community in Dubai Silicon Oasis.

The robots will travel within a radius of three kilometers from the starting point of the Cedre shopping center to ensure a quick delivery time of 15 minutes.

The robots come without any facial recognition detection and protect people’s identities by blurring the visibility of their faces.

With the Talabat integrated app, customers can also track the robot’s journey and receive notifications upon arrival.

This initiative aims to revolutionize sustainable last-mile delivery in the UAE by encouraging the use of zero-emission delivery methods and using advanced technologies to increase efficiency.

These efforts are in line with Dubai’s goal of making 25 per cent of all transportation journeys smart and driverless by 2030.
