Hyderabad: BRS to rally 10K people from each Assembly segment for public meet

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is planning to mobilise 10,000 people from each Assembly segment in Greater Hyderabad for its upcoming public meeting on February 17.

Chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will address the meeting planned at Parade Ground after inaugurating the new Secretariat complex.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao held a preparatory meeting with public representatives from Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts here on Thursday to prepare the party leaders and cadre for the big event.

While reminding that the new Secretariat complex was named after the architect of the Constitution of India Dr BR Ambedkar, KTR suggested the BRS leaders organise special programmes in every constituency on the day of the inauguration, which also remarked the birthday of CM KCR.

“At least 10,000 people from every Assembly segment in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits should be mobilised for the public meeting to be held at Parade Grounds,” said KTR.

He further instructed the party leaders to conduct an extensive cadre meeting on February 13 in all Assembly segments in GHMC limits on mobilising the public for the meeting.

MLAs and MLCs from other districts will be appointed in-charges for each constituency and they will stay put in the segments from February 13 to 17.

BRS leader Kadiyam used Telangana sentiment for his growth: Sharmila

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: YS Sharmila on Wednesday launched a bitter attack against senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister Kadiyam Srihari.

Addressing a massive public meeting in Station Ghanpur in Jangaon district, as part of her Praja Prasthanam Padayatra, YS Sharmila taunted Srihari for his failure to get even a degree college for the constituency while serving as minister for 14 years.

“I today express extreme levels of disappointment when I say that Kadiyam Srihari is no hermit, nor honest, and had cheated his public by abusing the sentiment of Telangana consistently, and enjoying portfolios shamelessly.”

While explaining her reason for setting up YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP), she said it was to expose dishonest leaders.

“Look at Gajwel and then look at Station Ghanpur that boasts of having produced two deputy chief ministers. Right from double bedroom houses to 100-bed hospital, and leather park, food processing units and textile units, all their promises have been shallow. Worst is that despite being tall Dalit leaders, they always kept mum whenever Dalits were attacked in any part of the state. It is deplorable to note that the constituency doesn’t have a degree college, while many mandals don’t have junior colleges.”

She blamed both leaders for constantly unleashing cheap politics and barbs against each other.

“While one blames the other for infamous sexual advances, the other is shamed in the name of corruption. It is shameful on Srihari’s part to brand late YSR as anti-Telangana. Rather he should remind himself about the failed promises of his chief minister KCR that amounts to immeasurable backstabbing of the four-crore Telangana people.”

Sharmila said that it was late YSR (former chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh and Sharmila’s father) who brought Devadula waters to the parched lands, and built Station Ghanpur, Nawabpet, and Raghunathpalli reservoirs. “It was YSR who built 30000 pakka houses in five years, besides gifting a polytechnic college and a railway overbridge,” she said.

  • Hindenburg report exposes dangers Indians, economy are subjected to: BRS’ Keshava Rao

Hindenburg report exposes dangers Indians, economy are subjected to: BRS’ Keshava Rao

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MP K Keshava Rao on Wednesday gave a Suspension of Business Notice in Rajya Sabha demanding a discussion on the Hindenburg Report on Adani Enterprises and other companies of Adani Group.

Rao gave the Suspension of Business Notice in the lower house of parliament, during its ongoing Budget Session, under rule 267.
In the notice to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, he said that the report had revealed the dangers to which the country and its economy have been exposed to.

“I desire to move the following Motion…That this House suspend the Rules, pertaining to Business listed in today’s (8.2.2023) Agenda and take up discussion of Hindenburg Report on M/s Adani Enterprises and other companies of his group. Sir, The report exposes the dangers to which the Indian people and economy are subjected to and merit immediate discussion, adjourning today’s list of Business in the House, as sought,” it read.

The concerned report is from US-based Hindenburg Research that surfaced on January 24 and claimed that the Adani Group had weak business fundamentals, and was involved in stock manipulation and accounting fraud, among others.

According to a statement by the Adani Group, the Adani portfolio and the Adani verticals are focused on bringing India into the global economy and nation-building. In the summary of the long response by Adani Group, it said the report was “nothing but a lie”.

The report, however, triggered a sell-off of shares of all Adani Group companies.

Earlier claiming that Hindenburg Research has “exploited innocent investors”, advocate Manohar Lal Sharma filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court seeking a probe against the US-based firm, whose report has led to shares of Adani group plunging on the bourses.

The PIL by a lawyer sought an inquiry to prosecute short sellers Nathan Anderson, a resident of US and founder of the Hindenburg Research [which published a report recently leading to a huge dent in the Adani Group firms’ assets], and his Indian entities. The plea also sought to register an FIR against Anderson and his associates for exploiting and duping lakhs of innocent investors.

Notably, the Opposition has been continuously demanding a discussion on the Adani-Hindenburg row and is seeking the response of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue.

Opposition parties are also demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe into the allegations of stock manipulation against the Adani Group.

The budget session of Parliament started on January 31 this year with the joint Address by President Droupadi Murmu. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Budget 2023-24 on February 1.

Since then there has been no business in Parliament because of the continued logjam over the Adani issue. The Opposition has demanded that the government should come up and respond in Parliament about the Adani stock issue following which disruption has been witnessed in both Houses.

Congress is continuously cornering the government over the issue in Parliament forcing the adjournments of both Houses during the Budget Session.

BRS, AAP, Shiv Sena-UBT stage walkout from RS after chair rejects notices on Adani row

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Members of the Aam Aadmi Party, Shiv Sena Thackeray faction and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Wednesday staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha after their adjournment notices were disallowed by the chair.

Soon after laying of papers, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said he has received four notices under Rule 267 from BRS member K Keshava Rao, AAP member Sanjay Singh and Shiv Sena members Sanjay Raut and Priyanka Chaturvedi and disallowed the same.

Rao stood up and raised objection to the Rajya Sabha chairman’s remarks on Tuesday on their boycott of the House.

Sanjay Singh also rose to seek a discussion on the Adani issue but was not allowed by the chair as their notices were disallowed.

Soon, the BRS, Sena and AAP members staged a walkout from the House.

The House started the discussion on the motion of thanks to the president’s address as there was no Zero Hour and Question Hour. The discussion on the motion of thanks would continue without lunch break.

“I have received four notices under Rule 267 from Sanjay Raut, K Keshava Rao, Sanjay Singh, Priyanka Chaturvedi. I reiterate my stand. I have carefully gone through them. I do not find the notices in order. I am constrained not to allow them,” the chairman said.

On BRS member Rao’s anguish over the chairman’s remarks made on Tuesday, he said, “The kind of aggressive body language you are reflecting is most unfortunate. You have perhaps not had the occasion to go through what I had said yesterday with full sense of sublimity, sobriety and seriousness.”

Asking him to take his seat, he said, “This is not the way we conduct this House. What I said is on record, you can take recourse to rules. This is not the way to do it. I have conveyed my sentiments and these are the sentiments of millions of people.”

Dhankhar said for the first time in this country, a history of the “wrong type” has been created by engaging in a proclaimed boycott of the President.

“I would urge the members, we are sending a very dangerous signal to people. Their anger is beyond tolerance. Every time in the morning they see this spectacle of the House being plunged into disorder as part of strategy,” the chairman said.

AAP, BRS members created uproar by raising slogans of “PM sadan mein aao. jawaab do. JPC se jaanch karao (PM should come to the House and answer and JPC probe should be ordered)” and later staged a walkout.

They later held a demonstration in front of the Gandhi statue in Parliament premises.

‘Ab ki baar kisan sarkar’: KCR asks Maha farmers to join hands at BRS’ meet

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao asked the farmers of Maharashtra to learn to write and enact laws along with running the plough in their fields.

“My dear farmer brothers, too much time has passed. You have waited too much for help. Until now, you have run ploughs letting others write. Now, you should get ready not just to run the plough, but also to write and make laws,” he said.

KCR made these remarks at the BRS’ public meeting held at Nanded, Maharashtra. This is BRS’ first public meeting outside Telangana.

“This party was first named TRS and was only present in Telangana. After looking at the situation in the country, we understood that it’s important to bring transformation to the ideology that is ruling this nation. That is why we have decided to work on the national level. BRS is getting support from across the country,” KCR said.

KCR said that in spite of 75 years of independence and successive governments, there is not much change on the ground level. “Water for drinking and irrigation purposes and electricity are not being provided to people. Are the resources not available?” he asked.

The BRS supremo said that Maharashtra is seeing the most number of farmer suicides in the country and its extremely sad. “Please think. When will someone die by suicide? When all the routes in life come to an end, people in distress die by suicide. Why are farmers, who are feeding this country, who are toiling day and night, forced to die by suicide?’ he asked.

KCR said that for the first time in the history of India, his party has pushed forward the theme of ‘Ab ki baar kisan sarkar’ keeping BRS’ central theme around farmers’ welfare. “Please go tonight to your villages and discuss this. India is a country of buddhi jeevi (wise), not buddu (fools),” he said.

The BRS supremo further remarked that when the time came, the greatest of leaders were overthrown by people very easily. “When the emergency was enforced, Jai Prakash Narayan’s movement made people overthrow such big leaders,” he remarked.

  • ‘Raw deal’ to Telangana gives BRS fresh ammunition to attack BJP

‘Raw deal’ to Telangana gives BRS fresh ammunition to attack BJP

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: In an election year, it was thought that the BJP would announce some sops for Telangana in the Union Budget 2023-24 to woo the voters in a state where its leaders see a realistic chance for the party to capture power, but the Budget came as a disappointment for the southern state.

BJP leaders were hoping that a few big announcements for Telangana in the Budget would provide them a chance to cash in on the run-up to the elections.

Political observers say this would have also provided the BJP an opportunity to launch a counter-attack on the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which has been targeting the Narendra Modi-led Central government for doing “nothing” for Telangana in the past eight years.

Since Prime Minister Modi and other top BJP leaders, at every public meeting, are calling for a double-engine government to fast-track development in Telangana, some announcements in the Budget would have helped the party build a strong narrative.

By not making any key announcement in the Budget, the BJP seems to have given BRS more ammunition to attack it for neglecting Telangana, and thus score some brownie points in the election year.

And BRS was quick to grab the opportunity. Telangana gets Zero in Union Budget’, read the hoardings put up by the party at public places.

The party leaders also launched a scathing attack on the Modi government for once again ignoring Telangana in the Budget.

Except for regular allocations under revenue expenditure to the Central institutions and autonomous bodies in the state, the Centre did not consider any of the demands put forth by Telangana.

The state’s share in Central taxes may see a slight increase from the present Rs 18,000 crore to Rs 21,000 crore. Except for this, it doesn’t have much to cheer about.

“The Union Budget is a big disappointment to progressive states and farmers of the nation. It has done gross injustice to Telangana once again,” said state Finance Minister T. Harish Rao.

None of the promises made under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, including railway coach factory or steel factory, found no place in the Budget even after nine years. Nominal funds were allotted for the tribal university which remained a non-starter, he said.

“Despite our repeated requests, none of the irrigation projects of Telangana were accorded with the national project status. Similarly, no GST subsidies or incentives were given to the weavers. We had repeatedly requested for incentives to young states like Telangana, but there has been no response,” Rao said.

He also pointed out that no new special economic zones or industrial corridors were allotted to Telangana, and no major funds were announced for the development of those sanctioned by the previous governments.

Highlighting the Centre’s ‘bias’ towards Telangana, BRS leaders said the Centre announced a special package of Rs 5,300 crore for Karnataka, a state where BJP is in power and which is going to the polls in the next few months.

“The Centre allocated a huge amount for Karnataka’s Upper Bhadra Irrigation Project and boons were announced to gift city’ of Gujarat,” said Harish Rao.

The state government had sought funds for Hyderabad Pharma City, Kakatiya Textile Park, NIMZ, Defence Corridor and several developmental works proposed in the urban local bodies.

The BRS leaders also pointed out that Telangana was not given a single nursing college out of 157 sanctioned in the Budget. Earlier, the Centre had not approved a single medical college for the state.

Telangana also found fault with the Union Budget announcement that states would be allowed a fiscal deficit of 3.5 per cent of GSDP of which 0.5 per cent would be tied to power sector reforms.

The Telangana government has been opposing power sector reforms as this will entail installation of meters to electricity connections for agriculture. The state will not get additional borrowing of 0.5 per cent.

The loss of borrowings per year for Telangana on this count will be around Rs 6,000 crore.

Political analysts said BRS will look to politically capitalise on this issue. The BRS government, which has been supplying 24×7 free electricity to farmers and claims to be the only state government in the country to do so, will tell farmers how it is sacrificing funds but refusing to implement power reforms so that they are not burdened.

With Telangana getting a ‘raw deal’ once again, the BRS leaders are likely to step up the attacks on BJP and assure people that despite lack of any support from the Centre, the state government will continue to implement all the welfare schemes with the state’s own resources.

While no major proposal for Telangana in an election year has disappointed state BJP leaders, they tried to lay the blame at the doorsteps of BRS.

State BJP chief Bandi Sanjay said that the state government should have sent the proposals for allocation early.

“The Chief Minister has no interest in the welfare of the people. Why did the state government fail to send the proposals early,” he asked.

Nanded gets ready for first public meet of BRS outside Telangana

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: With chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao all set to address his first public gathering outside Telangana as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo in Maharashtra’s Nanded district on Sunday, a sense of excitement and curiosity is felt amongst the locals.

According to reports, KCR will land at the Nanded airport by 12:50 pm. He will offer his floral tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue near the venue followed by a visit to a Gurudwara.

At around 1:30 pm, KCR is expected to reach the venue where many senior leaders from Maharashtra will join the party after his address to the people. At 4 pm, a press conference is scheduled before returning to Hyderabad.

BRS party workers have ensured no stone is unturned in welcoming their leader as Nanded is being decked with party flags, banners, and balloons. Forest Minister A Indrakaran Reddy has been monitoring the arrangements since last week.

It is reported that Reddy interacted with the locals including Sarpanchs, and public representatives, and have been informing the locals of BRS’s successful welfare schemes in Telangana.

No one will call BRS vote cutters’ in Maharashtra: AIMIM MP Jaleel

    [ad_1]

Aurangabad: Political parties are free to go to any part of the country but AIMIM is called “voter cutter” wherever it goes, said party MP Imtiaz Jaleel, referring to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s plan to enter Maharashtra.

No one will call BRS vote cutters’ in Maharashtra, said Jaleel, the Lok Sabha MP from Aurangabad.

BRS, earlier known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi, is the second political party after the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) that will make a foray into the western state.

BRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao is expected to address a “joiners’ meeting” in Nanded, some 280 kilometres from Mumbai, on Sunday.

Jaleel was speaking to PTI over the event of BRS, which is trying to expand its base beyond Telangana.

BRS will contest all elections in Maharashtra henceforth by “showcasing” the progress Telangana has made under Rao, also known as KCR, a minister of the southern state said on Friday.

“In India, a political party has the right to go to any part of the country. BRS is not only coming here (Maharashtra) but also going to states like Odisha and Karnataka. We are mocked as vote cutters’ wherever we go, but it won’t be the case with BRS,” Jaleel said.

He said AIMIM will hold a national convention of party functionaries in Mumbai on February 25 and 26 to plan its way ahead. “I had a long discussion with party president Asaduddin Owaisi recently,” he added.

Jaleel said, “AIMIM will contest more parliamentary and assembly seats compared to past elections in Maharashtra. “They will be in other areas of the state apart from Marathwada,” he said.

The party had won two seats in Maharashtra in 2019 assembly elections.

He said the Hyderabad-headquartered AIMIM is also in search of an alliance partner keeping an eye on the Dalit votes in the state.

“We are talking to 2-3 parties with whom we can go ahead in elections, but surely not with Anandraj Ambedkar (Republican Sena) today. Not every party is happy with what is going on in the state,” he said.

BRS to hold public meet in Nanded on Feb 5, pins hope on joinings from Maharashtra

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The stage is set for Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS Party to hold its first meeting outside Telangana in Nanded, Maharashtra, on Sunday.

It would be the second public meeting of BRS after Khammam.

Telangana Minister for Endowments Indrakaran Reddy and some senior leaders of the party are on a regular visit to the neighbouring State to oversee the arrangements including crowd mobilisation plans.

“The focus of the meeting is to encourage joinings in the party. The party is expecting some key leaders of the region to join BRS,” sources told PTI.

Rao is likely to visit a famous gurudwara in Nanded and offer prayers before the meeting, they further said. Nanded was chosen as the district has a sizeable population of Telugu-speaking people due to its proximity to Telangana.

KCR, as Rao is also known as, had earlier told reporters that several villages in the neighbouring State want to merge with Telangana, attracted by the welfare and developmental schemes being implemented by his government.

Asserting that the BRS’ slogan in the run-up to 2024 general elections would be Ab ki baar kisan sarkar’ (This time, a government for farmers), KCR recently said Maharashtra continues to witness the highest number of farmers’ suicides despite being one of the richest States.

According to political analysts, the focus of Rao’s speech would be around farmers’ issues in the Nanded meeting.

BRS would also be holding a public meeting on February 17 at the Parade Ground in Secunderabad and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, his Jharkhand counterpart Hemant Soren, Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, JD(U) National President Lalan Singh as representative of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Dr B R Ambedkar’s grandson Prakash Ambedkar among other dignitaries would attend it, Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashant Reddy had said in a release a few days ago.

Before the public meeting, the leaders would also be attending the inaugural ceremony of the new Secretariat complex of Telangana here on that day.

The building named after B R Ambedkar would be inaugurated by KCR between 11.30 AM and 12.30 PM on February 17, an auspicious time suggested by Vedic pundits, Reddy had said.

  • Akbaruddin fires at BRS on Urdu, Old City in Telangana Assembly

Akbaruddin fires at BRS on Urdu, Old City in Telangana Assembly

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi on Saturday fired at the BRS led state government on various issues like lack of justice to the Urdu language and development in Old City during the session of thanks to the Governor for her address that happened on Friday.

Akbaruddin also expressed serious disappointment over the lack of mention of many achievements of the state government in the Governor’s address.

“Yesterday’s Governor’s address was significant due to several reasons. In the year 2022, we missed the address due to reasons known to one and all. Let bygones be bygones. It’s a good beginning in the relationship between the top two constitutional functionaries in the state. However, compared to her previous address to the state legislature on March 15, 2021, which consisted of 42 pages. Her latest address is down to only 21 pages. I am sure Telangana has achieved significant progress but this has not been truly reflected in the current address which has been brief both on fact and figures,” he said.

Akbaruddin expressed discontent over the state government’s silence on the ‘step-motherly treatment’ meted out to Telangana by the BJP government at the centre.

“There has not been a murmur as well. The omissions of any reference to the state’s plight at the hands of the central government raise questions. Has the state government deliberately chosen to ignore these issues in the Governor’s address to show courtesy to her Excellency?..or has the Hon’ble Governor dropped portions of the text sent to her before the speech copies were printed?… or has the reference to the central government’s high handedness towards the state been brushed aside after the TRS became BRS?” he questioned.

    On Urdu, Old City

MLA Akbaruddin then criticised the BRS government for failing to treat Urdu fairly while designating it as a second official language. He also asked about the circumstances at Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad and the progress of the mosque’s building at the Telangana Secretariat.

The AIMIM MLA said that despite the rapid progress in Hi-Tech City, the lack of development still persists in the Old City.

He also wanted to know when the Charminar pedestrian project and the Hyderabad Metro project would be completed. The AIMIM MLA said that the Makkah Masjid’s renovation works haven’t still seen completion.

Akbar, while congratulating the state government on construction of several hospitals across the state, questioned on the state of the promised Osmania hospital renovation.

MLA Akbaruddin accused chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other ministers for preventing him from meeting them and stated that he is willing to meet with even low-ranking staff for the benefit of the Telangana people.

KTR responded with a strong counterargument, stating that speaking without attending the BAC meeting is inappropriate. He added that the AIMIM, which has only seven members, is taking up too much time speaking in the session and advised them to adhere to the designated timings and house rules.
