  • 73 per cent educators in J&K Govt Schools teach Primary, Upper Primary level students, reveal Official figures

    Bhat ImranSrinagar, Sep 10 (KNO): Of total teachers posted at government-run-schools of Jammu and Kashmir, at least 73 percent of educators were only teaching the Primary and Upper Primary Level students, reveals official figures.The news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has leant that at least 37 percent of educators were only teaching the Primary Level students only.

    Besides, it also states that over 36 percent of the teachers were teaching the students of Upper Primary Level only.

    According to the figures maintained by Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE), there were a total of 1,016,72 teachers in School Education Department across Jammu and Kashmir out of which at least 38,300 teachers were posted at Primary Level only followed by 36,908 at Upper Primary Level.UDISE has also maintained that only 15,570 teachers were teaching the secondary level students in Jammu and Kashmir.

    Likewise, the figures also reveal that only over seven percent of teachers were posted at senior secondary level. “At this stage, only 7839 teachers were teaching the students.”The data also states that only 2893 teachers were teaching the students at both Pre-Primary and Primary level followed by 85 teachers at secondary and senior secondary level.It also reveals that only 21 teachers were teaching the students of Primary and Upper Primary level and 56 teachers at Upper Primary and Secondary level respectively—(KNO)

    Poonch, Aug 10 (GNS): A major landslide on Saturday shut the Mughal road, connecting Shopian with Poonch and Rajouri districts.DTI Mughal Road Mohammad Aijaz Mirza told GNS that the landslide occured near Poshana, closing the thoroughfare.Official sources said that men and machinery is being pressed to clear the thoroughfare as soon as possible.Meanwhile Jammu-Srinagar highway and SSG road were through with traffic plying normally, they added.     Government will decide the fate of daily wagers soon as their demand is legitimate and the government will not be able to deny it, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said at the Gulistan News Conclave 2022.“A committee has been formed in this regard which will submit its report this month about the daily wagers,” he saidHe also said that the law and order situation has improved to a great extent in Kashmir while Hurriyat shutdown call effect is not seen anywhere in Kashmir now.He added efforts will be made to establish peace in J&K while strict legal action will be taken against the militants and their sympathisers and whosoever tries to disturb the atmosphere of law and order will not be spared at all.Speaking at the Gulistan News Conclave 2022, Manoj Sinha said, that efforts by the government to establish peace in Jammu and Kashmir will continue and strict action will be taken against those who disturb the peaceful environment and they will not be spared.“About 182 militants have been killed this year, 44 of whom were foreigners besides 89 terror modules have been busted,” he said, adding that such people were always bargained to buy peace, but this will not happen now, peace will be established.

    To enforce complete ban on single use plastic (SUP) in Valley, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole convened meeting of Deputy Commissioners and Division Level officers of related departments to intensify action against SUP by people.On the occasion, Div Com reviewed the action taken by concerned Departments and DCs following the directions issued in previous meetings held for this purpose.While taking the progress report, Div Com instructed the constitution of teams to check the sale of plastic in the markets and directed for imposition of fine on wholesaler and retailer shopkeepers for using single use plastic and polythene bags.Also, he directed for imposition of fine on end users of plastic with 100 rupees during the current month, 200 rupees in October and 300 rupees in November.Follow us on Google NewsHe asked Dir ULB and officers of municipalities to file at least three FIRs against wholesalers and retailers of plastic in each district while SMC officers were asked to file 120 FIRs against erring traders during the current month.He asked for continuous checks of meat, fruit and grocery sellers in the markets.Besides, Div Com exhorted RDD for collection of legacy waste in villages and dumping that waste properly.Div Com impressed on Administration of colleges, High school and Higher Secondary school level to adopt nearest water bodies and clean them of waste and plastic.He once again exhorted concerned officers for identification of government land for disposal of solid waste in major villages, which are expected to become municipalities in near future.He emphasized intensifying the IEC campaign regarding solid waste management and adherence to plastic ban.Moreover, Pole asked for the use of Swachh Bharat Symbol on the official letters and asked Dir ULB Kashmir for displaying symbol of cleanliness including at the beginning of municipality areas.He asked representatives of I&C Department to register entrepreneur units for manufacturing alternate products to be used in place of plastic.He reiterated to District Administration Kulgam and police to stop import of plastic into the valley and seize the vehicles carrying single use plastic.To provide additional dumping land to SMC at Achan, Div Com asked Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Srinagar to identify govt land near the dumping site and provide the same to SMC.It was informed that 100 kanal of land for dumping of solid waste has been provided to BB Cantonment.The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, Dir ULB, SSP Headquarter, Srinagar, officers of SMC, RDD, Rural Sanitation, Universities, Colleges, Schools besides Deputy Director Information, Bilal Mukhtar.     Hyderabad, Sept 10 (GNS): Mining Secretary, Government of Jammu & Kashmir Amit Sharma, while representing J&K in two-days National Mines Ministers’ Conference held at Hyderabad, shared recent initiatives taken in the Coal and Mining Sectors to bring more transparency and productivity in both sectors of J&K.The Conference was presided over by Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal & Mines, Government of India.Amit Sharma during his address mentioned several key initiatives taken in J&K recently including the launch of G2B2C portal for provisioning of e-Marketplace to sellers and buyers of Mining materials and introduction of QR-code based e-Challans to ensure transparency in working of department, initiation of Mining Surveillance System, Hi-Tech Mineral Check Posts and upcoming project of using Drone and PTZ Cameras for random checking of illegal mining at vulnerable points.He also requested Coal and Mining Ministries to support Kalakote Mining operations which produce top quality Anthracite coal (usually found in Australia) for revamping the Coal Mining operations there. He also requested to help in exploitation of Padder Sapphire (Neelam) reserves and huge underlying Lithium reserves (used for electric batteries) which have been discovered off-late in Reasi and Rajouri belts of the J&K by Geological Survey of India (GSI).“Union Minister assured that all the points relevant to J&K have been noted down and they shall support the J&K in all such areas,” official sources told GNS.Alongside, Union Coal Secretary, Government of India Anil Kumar Jain and Dr S.Raju, Director General, GSI also expressed commitment for total support on issues flagged by Mining Secretary J&K Amit Sharma while mentioning that they shall conduct visits soon here for addressing most of these issues instantaneously, they said.At the conclusion, Amit Sharma expressed gratitude towards central Government team for “understanding” J&K related Mining issues by giving an overwhelming response, they said. He also invited respective Ministries to visit J&K in coming days for carrying-forward the “ongoing progressive reforms” in the J&K. (GNS)

    A 53-year-old man was mauled by a bear in the higher reaches of Thanamandi in J-K’s Poonch district on Saturday, officials said.As per the officials, the man identified as Ghulam Hussain son of Fazal Hussain of Mangota in tehsil Mandi of Poonch district was grazing his livestock when the bear attacked him near Rarry Dhoke leaving him injured.Locals evacuated him to PHC Thanamandi for treatment from where he was referred to GMC Rajouri for specialized treatment.
