UP civic polls: SP gave tickets to those responsible for riots in Kanpur, says Yogi

    [ad_1]

Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday hit out at the Samajwadi Party, alleging those responsible for riots and curfews in Kanpur were its candidates in the urban local body polls.

On the last day of campaigning for the second phase of the civic polls, Adityanath addressed public meetings in Kanpur, Banda and Chitrakoot and appealed to voters to make the BJP victorious so that funds allocated by the Central and state governments for development and welfare schemes are utilized fully.

At an election rally in Kanpur, the chief minister said this city used to be known as the country’s textile hub and largest industrial city, but its neglect by the previous government was “known to everyone”.

    MS Education Academy

Referring to Kanpur’s once-booming illegal firearms industry, he said ‘kattas’ (countrymade pistols) were manufactured in Kanpur under the SP rule, but a new node of the Defence Corridor is being built here now.

As the country’s centre for defence production, Kanpur is establishing a new identity, Adityanath said.

“Those who were responsible for riots and curfews in Kanpur and played with people’s faith in the past are today the candidates of the Samajwadi Party. The kind of remarks they have made on women and the holy epic ‘Ramayan’ are not hidden from anyone,” the chief minister said.

“The urban local body election is not only (a medium) to elect a mayor but also about making all the BJP candidates victorious in all the wards,” he said.

“This election is not about hatred and personal comments. This election is about making your city a smart city, a safe city and one which has all the basic facilities,” he said at the meeting.

Adityanath also referred to the work done by his government to clean river Ganga under the Namami Gange project.

“Mother Ganga is our faith and our identity. Due to the neglect by the previous governments, 14 crore litres of sewage were discharged into Mother Ganga through the Sisamau drain. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the work on the Namami Gange project started.

“At that time, there was a Samajwadi Party government in the state. The SP did not do any work for two years. In March 2017, the double-engine BJP government came to power, and today not even a single drop from the Sisamau drain falls into the Ganga,” he said.

The chief minister also appealed to voters to add “a third engine” to the “double-engine government” and make Kanpur better again with basic facilities.

“Double-engine” is a term often used by BJP leaders to refer to the party ruling at the Centre and in a state.

Addressing another rally at Banda, the CM said that the Bundelkhand region has overcome the problem of barren and rugged terrain and is set to become a heaven on earth.

“In the next four months, the work of providing pure tap water to every house in Bundelkhand is going to be completed,” he said.

Adityanath said the entire Bundelkhand region is writing a “new chapter of development today” and recalled that for years the unveiling of Maharana Pratap’s statue was stalled which he did when he visited Banda last time.

He said that prior to 2017, Bundelkhand faced a lot of problems related to drinking water, agriculture, employment, and security.

Earlier women had to bring water in pitchers from far-off places, but today through the Har Ghar Nal Yojana, tap water is being provided to every house in Bundelkhand and the exercise will be completed in the next four months, he said.

Addressing his last rally of the day at Chitrakoot, the CM said, “Chitrakoot has been freed from dacoits criminals and is being re-established as a holy place of Sanatan Hinduism.”

Taking a jibe at the opposition parties, he added: “Dr. Lohia started the Ramayana fairs, but the Samajwadi Party, which does politics in the name of Dr. Lohia, says that Ram did not exist. Its leaders are making unsavoury comments on Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas as well.”

Adityanath also said that the then Samajwadi Party government opened fire on the devotees of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.

Adityanath was referring to police firing on ‘karsevaks’ gathered in Ayodhya on the saffron outfits’ call in 1990 when SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav was the UP chief minister.

“Their thinking is anarchic, opportunistic and dynastic. They can’t befriend a saint, but would readily garland a dacoit and allow them to exploit common people and traders,” he remarked further.

The second and final phase of the urban local body polls in UP will be held on May 11. The counting of votes will take place on May 13.

BJP taking country on path of progress: Yogi Adityanath in poll-bound Karnataka

    [ad_1]

Mangaluru: Raising the pitch for the BJP’s election campaign in south Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday held massive roadshows at Puttur and Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district and Karkala in Udupi.

Adityanath, who first arrived in Puttur, where party candidate Asha Thimmappa Gowda is pitted against Ashok Kumar Rai of Congress and a BJP rebel Arun Kumar Puthila, said the BJP is taking the country on path of progress.

Addressing the gathering from the campaign vehicle after the end of his roadshow, Adityanath said the Congress has always been trying to put hurdles on the path of progress.

    MS Education Academy

Though the Congress tried to prevent the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, the BJP successfully fought the issue in court and the temple will turn into a reality in the near future, he said.

The Congress is now after Bajrang Dal as the party is against patriotic people and try out to demoralise those who uphold nationalist policies, he said.

Adityanath said the people of Karnataka should vote for a Team India’ to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the BJP has fielded the best candidate in Puttur and asked voters to support Asha Thimmappa Gowda.

Adityanath later campaigned for State Energy Minister V Sunil Kumar at Karkala in Udupi, where also the BJP is facing an unlikely rebel in the form of Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik. Congress has fielded Muniyalu Uday Shetty, a confidante of former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily in the seat.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister held a grand roadshow in Karkala and spoke to the gathering in a few words exhorting them to vote for a “double engine” government for sustained progress.

At the final roadshow of the day at B C Road in Bantwal, where BJP’s young leader and incumbent MLA Rajesh Naik is facing former Minister B Ramanath Rai of Congress, Adityanath was given a rousing welcome by enthusiastic party workers.

Addressing the huge gathering, Adityanath called upon the people of Karnataka to stop the Congress from coming to power as the party has declared intention to ban patriotic organisations like the Bajrang Dal. “Congress is always blocking the path to progress initiated by the BJP government under Narendra Modi,” he said.

In a passionate speech, he also invited the people of Karnataka to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh when the Ram temple will be inaugurated in January next year, to the loud cheers from the public.

In all the three meetings, BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel and leaders including candidates in the respective segments accompanied Adityanath.

  • ‘Bajrang Dal ban’: Yogi calls Cong’s idea ‘mockery of Hinduism’

‘Bajrang Dal ban’: Yogi calls Cong’s idea ‘mockery of Hinduism’

    [ad_1]

Koppa: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday accused the Congress of attempting to ‘make a mockery’ of Hindu faith by proposing to ban Bajrang Dal, which the majority community will not tolerate and accept.

He also alleged that those who do not like Ek Bharat, Sreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India) are backing the anti-national’ organisations like ‘Popular Front of India’ (PFI).

Adityanath, who is also the head priest of Gorakhnath Math, said in a public meeting here in Chikkamagaluru district of poll-bound Karnataka, that he came from the land of Rama in Uttar Pradesh to the land of Hanuman (Karnataka).

    MS Education Academy

The bonding between the two states underlines the fact that they are integrally one and “materialise” the concept of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, he said.

“Those who don’t like Ek Bharat, Sreshth Bharat’ somewhere encourage anti-social and anti-national organisations like PFI on the one hand, and on the other, they want to ban organisations which are committed to patriotism and social service.”

“Banning Bajrang Dal means Congress is trying to make a mockery of the Hindu faith. Hindu community will not tolerate and accept it,” the BJP leader said.

Noting that the Ram temple issue in Ayodhya that was pending for more than 500 years and has been resolved by the “power of a slogan”, Adityanath asked the crowd to repeat after him, Jaikaara Veer Bajrangi, Har Har Mahadev’.

As Adityanath raised the slogan, the crowd followed him. He then appealed to those gathered there to take this slogan to every section of the society, so that those supporters of PFI “bite the dust”.

“When the Congress and the JD(S) government was in power in Karnataka, the PFI was encouraged,” he claimed.

“But due to the double-engine government’ (of the BJP) there is peace, harmony and security. Just as Uttar Pradesh has become a peaceful state, the double engine government in Karnataka tried to break the backbone of PFI by banning it.”

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also invited the people of Karnataka to attend the grand opening of Ram Temple in Ayodhya in January next year.

The Congress in its manifesto for the Assembly polls released earlier this week said it was committed to take firm and decisive action against individuals and organisations spreading hatred amongst communities on grounds of caste and religion.

The party said: “We believe that law and Constitution are sacrosanct and cannot be violated by individuals and organisations like Bajrang Dal, PFI or others promoting enmity or hatred, whether among majority or minority communities. We will take decisive action as per law including imposing a ban on such organisations”.

Nature has a way of settling scores: Yogi on Atiq Ahmad’s turf

    [ad_1]

Prayagraj: Addressing an election meeting on what once was the home turf of slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday appeared to invoke nature as a great leveller a force that delivers justice.

“Some people had turned Prayagraj, where people suffering from injustice and atrocities come with a desire for justice, into a land of injustice and atrocities,” Adityanath said addressing a meeting in the former Samajwadi Party MLA’s Allahabad West constituency.

“But this nature doesn’t commit an atrocity on anyone, nor does it accept an atrocity. It settles scores for everyone,” he said, without naming anyone.

    MS Education Academy

Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were shot dead by three men, who posed as media persons, when they were being taken to a Prayagraj hospital for medical checkup under police escort on April 15. Ahmad was among those accused of killing Umesh Pal, a key witness in the 2005 murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal.

Umesh Pal was shot dead, along with his two security guards, outside his home in Dhoomanganj area of Prayagraj in broad daylight on February 24. The shoot out had raised serious questions on law and order in Uttar Pradesh and Adityanath had vowed in the assembly to “destroy” the mafia in the state.

At his public meetings, he stressed on improvement in law and order during the term of the BJP government in the state.

On Tuesday, the last day of campaigning for the first phase of urban local body polls, the chief minister said, “It’s the same Uttar Pradesh where festivals were celebrated in the shadow of fear and terror. But today festivals bring prosperity. Today there is no curfew, no riots in the state.”

“Today, there is no terror of eve teasers in cities. Today, our cities are becoming safe cities. Girls can go to school safely, businessmen can do business. Today, the youth do not have ‘tamancha’ (country-made pistols) in their hands, they have tablets,” he said.

He said those who used to grab properties of the poor and extorted money from traders have been forced to surrender to the law. “Today, the state traders welfare board is giving a security insurance of Rs 10 lakh to traders.”

Adityanath said his government has focused on empowerment of people rather than appeasement. “Everyone has developed in our government,” he said.

“Today, Uttar Pradesh is moving beyond the dynasty-based and casteist-minded parties with a thought of nationalism. UP is scaling new heights of development now.”

The chief minister was campaigning for BJP mayoral candidate Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani at the Leaders Press Ground. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, several other ministers in the UP government and BJP MPs and MLAs were present during the election meeting.

Later, at an election meeting in Jhansi, Adityanath said his government will keep cracking down on criminals. “We will not disturb any poor or a gentleman, but we will not let any criminal walk freely in the state,” he asserted. “There is no terror of miscreants in our cities now, rather they have been recognised as ‘safe cities’.”

Criticising those who ruled Uttar Pradesh previously, he said, “After independence, Bundelkhand was to participate in the development process, but the people in power never gave development any thought. Instead, their henchmen did not think twice before plundering Bundelkhand’s resources.”

Because of this, people were forced to migrate and youth became unemployed in Bundelkhand, he said.

“Modi ji gave a vision of development. He laid the foundation stone of a massive plant of Bharat Dynamics in this region and the work on the Defence Corridor is also going on, which will employ thousands of young people,” he said.

“The prime minister has dedicated the Bundelkhand Expressway, which has become the lifeline of Bundelkhand, and soon the government is going to start its Jhansi link,” Adityanath said.

He also said the government has announced Rs 6,000 crore for constituting the Jhansi Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (JBIDA). “Now the youth of Bundelkhand will not need to migrate to other cities as they will get employment here itself,” he said.

The chief minister also said a sound-and-light show is organised at Jhansi Fort on the life of Rani Laxmibai, the brave ruler of the princely state of Jhansi, and the First War of Independence in 1857.

Prayagraj and Jhansi will vote on May 4 in the first phase. The second phase of the urban local body polls will be held on May 11 and the counting of votes will be done on May 13.

Youth issues threat to Yogi using phone of girlfriend’s father, held

    [ad_1]

Kanpur: A 19-year-old youth has been arrested here for allegedly issuing a ‘death threat’ to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from a number belonging to his girlfriend’s father, police said on Tuesday night.

The youth, identified as Ameen, had allegedly issued a death threat to Yogi Adityanath by calling on the police’s 112 emergency number.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankita Sharma said that he was arrested from Kanpur’s Begum Purva area and the mobile phone used to make the call seized.

    MS Education Academy

Ameen hatched the conspiracy after being frustrated by the father of his girlfriend who was not happy with their relationship, she said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Babu Purva) Santosh Kumar Singh said that the police contacted the woman’s father, an e-rickshaw driver, who claimed that his mobile phone had been stolen about 10 days ago.

Ameen’s neighbours also said during questioning that he hatched the conspiracy to trap the man as he wanted to marry his daughter.

Ameen admitted to stealing the mobile phone of his girlfriend’s father about 10 days ago and using his SIM card to make the threat call.

Three criminal cases have been registered against Ameen, who will be produced before the court on Wednesday, the police said.

  • Criminals now beg for their lives, says CM Yogi; bats for ‘triple-engine govt’

Criminals now beg for their lives, says CM Yogi; bats for ‘triple-engine govt’

    [ad_1]

Unnao: Criminals in Uttar Pradesh walked around with their heads held high but now they hang placards around their necks begging for their lives, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Tuesday while campaigning for the urban local body elections.

Adityanath addressed elections rallies in Unnao and Rae Bareli ahead of the polls, scheduled to take place in two phases on May 4 and May 11.

Addressing an election rally in Rae Bareli, Adityanath said, “BJP ki ek hi yukti, pradesh ko dilai mafia se mukti (The BJP has only one solution which has rid the sate of criminals)’. The mafia are begging for mercy to lead regular lives and earn livelihood by honest means due to zero tolerance against crime.”

    MS Education Academy

He also took a dig at the previous regimes, saying people associated with a particular party would brandish country-made pistols while the youths now are working on smartphones and tablets.

Adityanath was referring to the Uttar Pradesh government’s drive to distribute tablets and smartphones free of cost to one crore undergraduate and postgraduate students as part of a push to the link the state’s youths with the Digital India campaign.

Addressing another rally in Unnao, Adityanath said, “Before 2017, traders were exploited and extorted. Today, they are benefitting from the PM SVANidhi scheme. Prior to 2017, there was terror of miscreants while today, cities are being made safe.

“Earlier, there were heaps of garbage but cities are becoming smart today. Now, there is no place for mafia-criminals, crime, corruption and corrupt people in Uttar Pradesh.”

The BJP defeated the Samajwadi Party to form the government in Uttar Pradesh in 2017. Adityanath became the chief minister for the second consecutive term after assembly polls last year, a feat achieved in India’s most populous state after over three decades.

Speaking in Unnao, he said, “This is the new Uttar Pradesh. Government facilities are being given as per eligibility. We consider every citizen of Uttar Pradesh to be a member of our family, so no one can claim that there was caste or religious discrimination.”

“No extortions or kidnappings for ransom, Uttar Pradesh is no longer anyone’s fiefdom,” the chief minister said.

He also criticised the previous regimes for creating law and order problems that prevented girls from going to school.

“(Earlier) the youths faced an identity crisis. The nation’s reputation suffered and scams became prevalent. The perception of India has changed since 2014. People now look at the youth of India with respect. Today, India is making progress in every field,” Adityanath said.

Adityanath said India has transformed in the last nine years and that transformation has become the centre of attraction for the world. The dream of 140 crore people in India is being fulfilled without any discrimination under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Similarly, there has been a change in how Uttar Pradesh is perceived inside India in the last six years, he added.

In the last six years, the “double engine government” has provided a house each to more than 54 lakh poor people in rural and urban areas while toilets have been built for 2.61 crore underprivileged.

Adityanath said the civic elections are not a small matter and are meant to add a “third engine” to the existing “double engine government” of the BJP in the state to accelerate its development.

The prime minister’s vision is the mission of Uttar Pradesh, he said. The Ganga Expressway is being constructed to connect western Uttar Pradesh with the state’s central and eastern parts and will benefit the people of Unnao, the chief minister said.

The expressway will allow people to travel to Delhi in six hours and Prayagraj in two, he added.

Unnao and Rae Bareli will go to the polls in the first phase on May 4. The votes will be counted on May 13.

The elections are seen as setting the tone for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh, which sends 80 lawmakers to Parliament.

No danga, UP mein sab changa: CM Yogi on law and order situation

    [ad_1]

Saharanpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday asserted that law and order in the state has improved under his government, and the state was now being identified by its grand festivals and not for the mafia.

Kicking off an election campaign for the upcoming urban body elections from Saharanpur, he spoke about the achievements of his government and charged that earlier governments were busy instigating riots.

Today, the state’s identity is festivals, not mafia and disorder, he said.

    MS Education Academy

Amidst loud applause from locals, the chief minister said Uttar Pradesh is not anyone’s property and that extortion will not be allowed.

There are no riots and curfews in Uttar Pradesh now and all is good, he asserted.

Lashing out at the previous governments, the chief minister said, “Before 2017, the governments here did not have time for anything other than creating riots but today there is no curfew in Uttar Pradesh. Now the Kanwar Yatra is taken out. Earlier, fake cases were lodged against the youth but now no one can do that.”

“Earlier daughters were afraid to leave their homes. Today, however, there is a fear-free atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

Making a fervent appeal to people to support BJP candidates in the upcoming urban body elections, Adityanath said, “This election is for connecting the third engine to the double engine government. Once that is done, the money that will come from Delhi will be put to good use.”

Cautioning the voters against other forces, he said, “We have to decide whether we want casteist governments which were in place before the 2017 period or a government which is dedicated to the welfare of the poor.

We all have to decide whether to have a corruption-ridden system or a corruption-free system. We have to decide whether the youths should have guns in their hands or tablets and smartphones. We have to decide whether there should be sound of gunfire in the streets or a change in the lives of people, he said.

“We have to decide whether we want extortion by hooligans or a system that provides self-financing to the poor. There should be a ‘Safe City’. ‘Bhajan Ganga’ (devotional hymns) should be our priority,” he said.

Adityanath said he is starting the election campaign from here to get the blessings of Maa Shakambhari.

“We gave the benefits of governance and schemes without discrimination, without seeing anyone’s caste, religion or face,” he said.

The chief minister said he has come here more than a dozen times in the last six years.

“I have seen with my own eyes the neglect of Saharanpur before 2017. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saharanpur is shining in front of the country and the world with a new aura of development. Soon, you will cover the Saharanpur-Delhi distance in two to two-and-a-half hours.”

The chief minister also gave details of the development plans for Saharanpur.
