Hyderabad: ‘Manhandled’, YS Sharmila ‘slaps’ woman constable; detained

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party chief YS Sharmila was prevented from leaving her house, by the city police on Monday, to submit a representation to the Special Investigation Team officials investigating the TSPSC paper leak.

As she attempted to leave her home, police officials restricted her. However, Sharmila charged towards her vehicle but was prevented from entering it.

Tension erupted at Lotus Pond as she sat on the road in front of her house.

    MS Education Academy

Sharmila picked up a heated argument with the cops as she was allegedly being ‘manhandled’ and ‘restricted’ by women constables.

Enraged, Sharmila was seen manhandling a policeman and pushing him after he stopped her from entering her car. She also allegedly ‘slaps’ a lady constable as she tries to grab her hand.

She was then taken away by the police in their vehicle.

Sahrmila’s hunger strike was scheduled on April 17 under the umbrella of ‘Telangana Students’ Action for Vacancies and Employment’ (T-SAVE), a platform mooted by YSRTP President Y.S. Sharmila but the police had denied permission for the same.

Earlier, Sharmila had filed a petition in the High Court, seeking direction from the police to allow her protest against unemployment.

The High Court, however, directed that not more than 500 people should participate in the hunger strike.

After the police denied the permission, the YSRTP lashed out at chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for it calls his atrocious reign and dictatorial treatment of those who raised voices against his failures and fake promises.

New Delhi: The condition of the woman shot at inside a Delhi court complex was stated to be out of danger and stable, officials said on Saturday.

The woman is currently undergoing treatment at the premier All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here. A police officer said the condition of the woman was out of danger and stable.

The accused, a debarred lawyer, had fired four rounds at the woman, identified as M Radha, and wounded her inside Saket court in south Delhi on Friday. A man who works as a ‘munshi’ in the court was also injured in the firing that occurred around 10.30 am.

Kameshwar Singh alias Manoj Singh, a resident of Durga Ashram in Chhatarpur, was arrested from a house in Faridabad where he was hiding after the incident. He has been booked under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder) and sections of the Arms Act.

Singh had filed a case of cheating against the woman and her lawyer over a monetary dispute involving Rs 25 lakh. The hearing was scheduled for Friday.

Congress expels woman who levelled harassment charges against Assam leader

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Assam Youth Congress president Angkita Dutta was suspended from the primary membership of the Congress for six years on Saturday for anti-party activities.

Dutta had accused Indian Youth Congress chief Srinivas B V of causing mental agony to her after she levelled sexual harassment charges against former IYC president Keshav Kumar.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed the Congress over the move, saying this is its model of women empowerment and its slogan of “ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon” (I am a woman and I can fight) is hollow.

    MS Education Academy

“Congress president has expelled Dr Angkita Dutta, president, Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, from the primary membership of the party, for six years for her anti-party activities with immediate effect,” Tariq Anwar, member-secretary of the Disciplinary Action Committee of the Congress, said in an order.

Hitting out at the Congress, BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya tweeted: “This is Congress’s model of women empowerment!”

“Sack the woman who alleged harassment instead of providing a platform to hear her grievances. The manner in which Angkita Dutta has been removed from the Congress is uninspiring for women,” he said.

Malviya also said, “Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon is a hollow slogan.”

The Congress had come up with the slogan in the run-up to last year’s Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

Dutta had tweeted: “When previous IYC president Keshav Kumar had sexually harassed and because of #MeToo came out. He was compelled to remove. Now despite being mentally harassed and discriminated by B V Srinivas for 6 months. I have been told to keep mum and no enquiry is initiated.”

“Honestly I am aware this could lead to an end of my political career. If this is the price I have to pay, so be it. About me meeting some BJP leader, one is welcome to check CCTV footage of home and office where you will probably see me reading trolls my colleagues are spreading,” she tweeted on Friday.

Dutta was issued a show-cause notice by the Assam Congress, asking her to explain why action should not be taken against her for her alleged antiparty activities.

Woman arrested for killing brother’s live-in partner in Delhi’s Teliwara

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: A woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her brother’s live-in partner in Delhi’s Teliwara area, police said on Friday.

On April 12, police received information that an unidentified woman’s body was found lying near Krishna Public School in Karawal Nagar, they said.

Later, the body was identified to be that of Rohina Naz alias Mahi (25), a resident of Mirajpur in Uttarakhand, police said.

    MS Education Academy

In the CCTV footage, two bike-borne men were seen moving around suspiciously with a woman sitting in between. A man in a striped T-shirt was also seen carrying the woman’s body on his shoulder and a woman walking right behind him, a senior police officer said.

Later, the two people seen on the CCTV were identified as Vineet Pawar and his sister Parul Chowdhary. Following which the woman was apprehended from Kanti Nagar in Krishna Nagar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey said.

    However, Vineet is still absconding.

Vineet and Naz had eloped four-year-ago. They lived together, but never married, he said.

In 2017, Vineet and his father Vinay Pawar were involved in a murder in Ramala Sugar Mill, Baghpat. They were convicted on October 25, 2019, and were awarded life imprisonment, the DCP said.

Naz lived with Parul in Delhi when Vineet was in jail. After Vineet came out on bail on November 26, 2022, Naz started pressurising him for marriage but Vineet’s family was against it as Naz belonged to a different community, police said.

Due to frequent fights, the brother-sister duo decided to sell off Naz. However, Naz sensed this hand retaliated. Then the duo decided to eliminate her, the DCP said.

On the day of the incident, the couple fought over the issue of their marriage again and Vineet strangulated her and hid her body, Tirkey said.

In the evening, Vineet called another man who came with a motorcycle, police said.

Vineet took the body on his shoulder while Parul carried the victim’s clothes and a cloth that Vineet used to wrap the Naz’s body, police said.

Vineet and his associate drove on the motorcycle with the body kept in between them for over 12 km looking for a place to dump it. They dumped it outside a house in Karawal Nagar and fled, police said.

Thereafter, Vineet left for his village in Baghpat, while Parul began searching for rented accommodation as they planned on sell their house in Teliwara, Farsh Bazaar soon, police said.

Efforts are being made to trace Vineet and his associate who had brought the motorcycle, they added.

Her efforts of bravery and courage not only saved precious lives in a natural calamity but also instilled a sense of safety amongst the common populace in the flood-affected area, officials added.

Personnel from IAF’s Garud unit, who had taken part in a rescue operation after the at Trikut Hills ropeway accident in Jharkhand’s Deoghar, considered one of the toughest rescue operations, were also among the awardees, as also those personnel who had taken part in anti-insurgency operations in Kashmir valley.

Among the 30 who got Vishisht Seva Medal, 29 are from the IAF and one from the Army, officials said.

Brig G Muthukumar from the Corps of Engineers received a Vishisht Seva Medal for his services for the IAF.

“I was earlier working the chief engineer for a couple of years, with the IAF at its South Western Air Command. I am glad the Army gave me opportunity to work with the Air Force, and IAF recognised my services. I feel very proud,” he told PTI.

The IAF officer has led the contingent for more than 15 years and has participated in Republic Day celebrations on Rajpath (now Kartavya Path) for the past 27 years.

This year the IAF band contingent was also led by Warrant Officer Kumar.

“I am feeling humbled and proud to receive this award. I must thank my family, especially my wife for supporting my journey with the IAF,” the officer told PTI.
