Court allows woman to settle with kid in Australia as father doesn’t turn up after divorce

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has permitted a woman to settle down in Australia with her kid as the father did not turn up to see his child for eight years after getting divorce.

The bench headed by Justice M. Nagaprasanna has accepted the petition in this regard by the mother seeking to settle down permanently in Australia with the kid. The father also did not turn up to attend the court proceedings in this regard.

The petitioner had claimed that after divorce, she had settled down in Australia with her second husband. She had questioned the order by the local civil court in Maddur quashing her request to get visa for her child to settle with her in Australia.

The bench observed that the father had not come to see the child for eight years after obtaining divorce. He did not attend the inquiry regarding visa. All this shows that he does not have any interest in taking care of the child in future.

The couple got married in 2006 and they had a son. They applied for divorce. The court had given custody of the minor kid to the mother. The court had granted divorce and given permission for the father to meet the kid once in a month.

But, the father did not turn up to visit his son. Mother got married to another person and settled down in Australia with her kid. The lower court had withdrawn the permission granted to the father of the kid as he did not turn up to see his kid or to attend court proceedings.

According to Australian law, visa is required for the minor children to stay. The mother had applied in the local court through her father in this regard to obtain visa for her kid. As the local court refused to grant permission, she had appealed the order in the High Court.

First Palestinian woman ordained as pastor in Jerusalem

    [ad_1]

A Lutheran church ceremony in Jerusalem ordained the first Palestinian female pastor in the holy land on Sunday.

Sally Azar, a Palestinian from Jerusalem will now lead the English-speaking congregation at the church of the Redeemer, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan.

She was ordained by her father in Jerusalem’s old city before a packed crowd with hundreds of well-wishers from all over the world.

According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the West Bank and Gaza Strip were home to around 47,000 Christians till 2017.

Most Palestinian Christians belong to denominations that do not allow female clergy. However, Azar belongs to a small minority of protestant congregations that ordain women ministers.

The Lutheran church reportedly said that it has around 3,000 adherents in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Jordan.

Azar will be one of five ordained women in the Middle East, joining one in Syria and three in Lebanon, according to the Middle East Council of Churches.

The new pastor, following her ordination, said “I hope that many girls and women will know this is possible and that other women in other churches will join us.”

Pregnant woman credits Apple Watch for saving her life

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: A US-based pregnant woman has credited Apple Watch for saving her and her unborn baby’s lives following an abnormally high heart rate warning.

With a few weeks left until her due date, Jesse Kelly was not doing anything that would raise her heart rate to over 120 beats per minute, but her Apple Watch kept alerting her that her heart rate was high, reports CBS News.

“It went off the first time and I thought it was strange. Then the second time maybe 10 minutes later or so and then the third time maybe a half hour or so later. When it went off the third time I thought ‘OK something is going on,” Kelly was quoted as saying.

She then immediately went to the hospital.

When Kelly arrived at the hospital, she discovered that she was in full-blown labour, her blood pressure was dropping and was losing blood due to a pregnancy complication known as placenta abruption, according to the report.

Three hours later, she was gifted a healthy baby girl named Shelby Marie.

Moreover, speaking from experience, Kelly advised everyone to pay attention to their alerts.

“It’s not just a text message. Pay attention to it and listen to your body,” she said.

Meanwhile, an Apple watch also helped detect undiagnosed heart blockage in a woman.

A woman named Elain Thompson suffered seizures in 2018, and as part of her post-diagnosis treatment, her daughter suggested her to wear an Apple Watch to monitor her health.

Thompson recently received an alert from her Apple Watch that her heart rhythm was unusual.
