  • Special meaning behind Kiara Advani’s kaleeras for wedding with Sidharth Malhotra

Special meaning behind Kiara Advani’s kaleeras for wedding with Sidharth Malhotra

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: As Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani finally got hitched in a royal wedding in Jaisalmer’s Suryagarh Palace, several glimpses from their grand marriage ceremony made their way on social media and be it their outfits or the jewellery, the newlywed couple stood out in every aspect.

For the ceremony, while Sidharth opted for an ivory sherwani with an exquisite royal lustre, Kiara donned a Manish Malhotra-designed pink lehenga, which featured intricate embroidery detailing of roman architecture. It was inspired by the special love the newlyweds share for the city of domes.

However, what stood out the most were Kiara’s dazzling customized kaleeras, which are umbrella-shaped dangling ornaments that are attached to the bride’s choodas. Mrinalini Chandra had designed Kiara’s kaleeras, which featured stars, moon, the couple’s initials and butterflies.

They also had a thoughtful dedication to Sidharth’s late pet dog and the newlywed couple’s favourite travel destination.

Meanwhile, Kiara’s neckpiece features an exquisite composition of ultra-fine hand-cut diamonds crafted with rare Zambian emeralds. She was seen wearing a diamond ring, prompting speculations that it is her wedding ring.

The couple got married as per Hindu traditions with band baaja and baraat. Famous ‘Jea’ wedding band from Delhi arrived at the venue on Tuesday.

Kiara and Sidharth have always been tight-lipped about their relationship. They neither accepted nor denied the dating rumours.

Sidharth and Kiara apparently fell in love while shooting for ‘Shershaah’, which was released in 2021. The duo was often seen hanging out together which added extra fuel to their relationship rumours.

Kiara revealed in an episode of ‘Koffee with Karan’ season 7 that she first met Sidharth at the wrap-up party of ‘Lust Stories’. She also confessed that she and Sidharth Malhotra are definitely more than “close friends.”

Jaisalmer: Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s wedding festivities are taking place in full swing at Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer.

On Monday, several pap videos circulated online in which the wedding venue is seen beautifully lit up in pink lights.

Along with it, one can also hear peppy tracks playing inside the wedding venue.

While the paparazzi couldn’t spot the bride and groom, these photos come across as a delight and a confirmation that there is indeed a wedding happening. The duo has not announced the news of their wedding officially. Check out these pictures from the venue:

Earlier several reports suggested that Sidharth and Kiara were expected to tie the knot on February 6. However, now fans have to wait a little longer.

According to a source close to the couple, the most-awaited wedding has been postponed for a day. The ‘Shershaah’ co-stars will exchange vows on February 7, i.e., Tuesday.

The duo’s wedding festivities have already begun at Suryagrah Palace in Jaisalmer.

Sidharth and Kiara arrived at their wedding venue on Saturday to kickstart the festivities. Though the couple didn’t speak to the media, the groom’s brother and mother told paps that they were “excited”. Celebrity guests including Juhi Chawla, Karan Johar, Shahid Kapoor, Mira Rajput are already in Jaisalmer for the big fat wedding.

As per the reports, the sangeet event will take place near the sunset patio on Monday night. The duo’s ceremony has been organised in the area between the havelis on the morning of February 7, Tuesday.
Sidharth and Kiara have never talked openly about their relationship though they have not denied it. If reports are to be believed, the two started dating during the making of their 2021 film Shershaah, based on the life of martyr Vikram Batra. The film was a hit and fans loved their chemistry.

  • Amid drive against child marriage in Assam, girl kills self as wedding plans go awry

Amid drive against child marriage in Assam, girl kills self as wedding plans go awry

    [ad_1]

Hailakandi: A 17-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide in Assam’s Cachar district after her family prevented her from going ahead with wedding plans with her lover, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred amid the state government’s crackdown on child marriage, which also led to the cancellation of several weddings of underage girls in Assam’s Barak Valley comprising Hailakandi, Cachar and Karimganj districts.

At least 2,441 people have been arrested in the state till Monday in the continuing operation against child marriage, launched on February 3.

In Dhalai area of Cachar district, a 17-year-old girl hanged herself on Saturday after her family refused her permission to marry her lover now, a police officer said.

“She had prepared to elope with her lover, but the family came to know about it and prevented her. There have been about 19 arrests in child marriage cases in neighbouring villages,” a relative of the girl said.

The number of arrests till Sunday evening was 243 in Barak Valley 80 in Cachar, 82 in Hailakandi 82 and 81 in Karimganj.

A number of people have cancelled scheduled weddings since the drive started, according to owners of wedding halls owners.

One such wedding was called off in Srimantakanishail village in Karimganj as the bride will be completing 18 years in two months.

“When the bride’s family brought this point up, both the families decided to postpone the wedding till the girl attains the legal age for marriage,” the owner of a wedding hall said.

The MLA of Sonia constituency in Cachar district, Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, urged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to exempt those married for many years from police action.

In a statement, he said families are being disrupted and the future of the children of such families is at stake.

Barbhuiya urged the chief minister to stop harassing the poor and weaker sections of the society’ in this drive against child marriage.

The state cabinet had recently approved a proposal to book men who have married girls below 14 years of age under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Cases under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 will be registered against those who have married girls in the age group of 14-18 years, the cabinet decided.

The offenders will be arrested and the marriages declared illegal.

Assam has a high rate of maternal and infant mortality, with child marriage being the primary cause, according to reports by the National Family Health Survey (NFHS).

  • Las Vegas-style wedding in Dubai: Marriage licence in just 24 hrs

Las Vegas-style wedding in Dubai: Marriage licence in just 24 hrs

    [ad_1]

Abu Dhabi: Dubai is set to become the Las Vegas of the Middle East, in terms of completing civil marriage procedures in less than 24 hours, the  British newspaper The Times reported.

Under the new expatriate family law that came into force on February 1, 2023, non-Muslim residents getting married in Dubai will be able to get their marriage licence in just 24 hours.

Non-Muslims eligible for civil marriage in Dubai must be at least 21-year-old, unmarried and at least one resident of Dubai.

On February 1, the UAE began implementing a new federal law that covers marriage, divorce, child custody, and inheritance for non-Muslim citizens and expatriates residing in the country.

In 2022, UAE became the first country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to legalize mixed civil marriage in Abu Dhabi, which has attracted 6,000 couples so far from 127 nations. As many as 830 Indian couples have tied the knot under the new civil law.

The reforms were first approved by the late UAE president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on November 27, 2021. Out of the seven emirates, only Abu Dhabi adopted the new reforms in November 2022.

But now UAE is preparing to adopt these reforms in all its lands, which means that these reforms will reach Dubai, which will make this international tourist destination a favorite place for quick weddings.

Tourists and expatriates living in the country were able to get married there before the new law, but it was a more complicated and lengthy process.

Dubai’s rulers appear to be relaxing laws in a bid to encourage tourism in the city, which was a top destination for Brits in 2022 and is home to around 250,000 British residents, according to Skyscanner.
