    Weather improves in J&K, likely to stay mainly dry till April 10

    Srinagar, Apr 7: After a few days of intermittent rainfall, weather improved in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday and is likely to stay “mainly dry” till April 10.

    A meteorological department official here told GNS that light rain at isolated places towards late afternoon/evening was expected on April 11.

    Regarding the temperature, the MeT official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 4.4°C against 6.3°C on the previous night and it was 2.5°C below normal for the summer capital.

    Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 3.0°C against 4.0°C on the previous night and it was 2.7°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir.

    Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of minus 1.8°C against 2.4°C on the previous night and it was 4.0°C above normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

    Kokernag recorded a low of 3.6°C against 3.1°C on the previous night and it was 1.8°C below normal for the place, the officials said.

    Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 1.6°C, the same as on the previous night and it was 2.1°C below normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.

    In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 1.7°C against 3.6°C on the previous night and it was 3.8°C below normal for the north Kashmir area.

    Jammu recorded a low of 13.7°C against 14.7°C on the previous night. It was 4.1°C below normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.

    Banihal, he said, recorded a low of 7.1°C (below normal by 0.3°C), Batote 1.4°C (below normal by 1.4°C), Katra 12.6°C (2.5°C below normal) and Bhadarwah 4.3°C (1.7°C belownormal). Ladakh’s Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 6.0°C and minus 0.6°C respectively, he added. (GNS)

    New Delhi: Apple’s Weather app on iPhone is currently down for many users globally, including India.

    On its support page, the tech giant states that ongoing issues are affecting the app.

    “Some users are affected. This service may be slow or unavailable” the company noted.

    Multiple users report that they aren’t seeing any data when opening up the app. The app’s widgets also don’t seem to be working.

    However, other Apple services, including the App Store, Apple TV+ and Apple Music among others are working fine.

    “Is there something wrong with the Apple Weather app in #iOS164? The widget and app on my Mom XS Max is very buggy. Now, I’ve seen mine giving the same exact problem,” a user wrote on Twitter.

    “Is the Apple Weather app not working for anyone??? I haven’t been able to use it for like 2 days for no reason and it’s driving me nuts lol,” another user wrote.

    One more user said: “Apple weather App is down for many users all around the world. I asked Siri what the temperature and precipitation forecast for today was. Workarounds for the modern world. I could have looked out the window. #appleweather”.

  • Power Curtailment Reduced By 50%, New Schedule After Weather Improvement: KPDCL

    SRINAGAR: The curtailment hours have been reduced by 50 per cent following the improvement in the weather conditions, Chief Engineer, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Javed Yousuf Dar said on Monday.

    Talking to the news agency KNO, the Chief Engineer said that the new power schedule has not been announced keeping in view the present weather conditions.

    However, he said that the curtailment hours in both metered and non-metered areas have been reduced by 50 per cent.

    He said that the metered areas are now witnessing just four hours of curtailment compared to eight hours announced during the winters while in metered areas, the people are facing power cuts of two hours only.

    The Chief Engineer further said that the curtailment hours will end soon after the weather conditions improve in the Valley. “The fresh schedule will be announced once the weather conditions improve,” he said.

    Pertinently, the KPDCL in wake of the winter season had announced a curtailment schedule in Kashmir. The authorities had decided to go for eight hour curtailment for non-metered areas and 4.5-hour power cuts in the metered areas. (KNO)

    SRINAGAR: The minimum temperatures recorded an increase on Tuesday with mercury settling below normal in Jammu and Kashmir barring Gulmarg.

    Quoting a meteorological department official, GNS reported that Srinagar recorded a low of 4.7°C against 3.0°C on the previous night and it was 1.4°C below normal for the summer capital.

    Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 3.5°C against 2.1°C on the previous night and it was 1.2°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir.

    Banihal, he said, recorded a low of 5.4°C (below normal by 1.1°C), Batote 7.3°C (below normal by 1.1°C), Katra 13.0°C (0.8°C below normal) and Bhadarwah 4.6°C (0.8°C below normal). Ladakh’s Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 5.0°C and minus 0.5°C respectively.

    The weather department has forecast mainly weather in J&K for the next 24 hours.
