Hyderabad: Half-naked farmer from Warangal walks for justice

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: A half-naked farmer hailing from Ponagal village of Warangal district, carried a plough on his shoulder and a rope in his hand on Friday and then walked from Indira Park to the Director General of Police’s (DGP) office here seeking justice from the ruling BRS.

The farmer, Surendar demanded that the Telangana government ensure rigorous punishment to his brother and BRS leaders for cheating him by forging his land documents.

He claimed that if he was found guilty of enacting a show, he may be hanged to death in the centre of the state capital. Surendar alleged that local BRS leaders forged his land documents and pressurizing him to transfer his land in the name of his brother.

Surender bemoaned the lack of police inaction and stated that the law-enforcing authorities took his issue lightly and remained calm. The hapless farmer said if the documents forged by BRS leaders is found to be true, he may be hanged to death in the centre of the city, otherwise the authorities concerned should discharge justice.

When the protesting farmer reached the DGP’s office at Lakdikapul to meet the DGP to apprise him of his woes, the security personnel disallowed him. Outside the DGP’s office, Surendar urged the Governor, Chief Justice of Telangana High Court and the DGP to intervene and solve his issue.

  • KCR failed to develop Warangal as Dallas: Sharmila

KCR failed to develop Warangal as Dallas: Sharmila

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila on Sunday lashed out at Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his failure to develop Warangal and recalled that he had promised to develop the city as Dallas.

She addressed a massive public meeting near Hanamkonda petrol bunk as part of her ongoing padyatra.

She highlighted that CM KCR had earlier promised an annual fund of Rs 300 crore to the corporation, irrespective of its revenues. His hollow promise of transforming Warangal into Dallas is a lie, she said.

The YSRTP leader said that KCR’s other promises such as making Warangal an IT hub on the lines of Hyderabad, generating thousands of jobs, reviving Mamnoor airstrip into a full-fledged airport, industrialisation, metro rail for the city, all have been fake promises.

“What about the model journalist colony supposed to be the world’s largest,” she asked.

Sharmila said land for Mega Textile Park was acquired with high-handedness but not even a single plant can be seen. “What happened to the underground drainage system? Floods wreak havoc but no traces of sidewalls or other relief and reconstruction measures as promised?” she asked.

She said that last year’s untimely rains damaged crops in 56,000 acres in the district and 25,000 farmers suffered losses to the tune of Rs 900 crore, but no compensation was paid.

“Even the great poet Sri Kaloji Narayan Rao was insulted. Where is the world class auditorium named after him?” Sharmila questioned.

Telangana: Airports at Warangal, Adilabad, Jakranpally under consideration by Centre

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The establishment of two brownfield airports at Warangal, Adilabad and one greenfield airport at Jakranpally of Nizamabad district in Telangana is under consideration by the Centre.

In this context, the Centre had asked the state government to submit financial closure to consider giving necessary approvals from the Civil Aviation Ministry and other regulatory authorities for the development of these airports.

Civil Aviation Minister VK Singh while responding to a question raised by BRS MPs Maloth Kavitha, B Venkatesh Netha, and G Ranjith Reddy in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, said that the state government proposed three greenfield airports at Jakranpally (Nizamabad district), Palvancha (Bhadradri Kothagudem) and Devarakadra (Mahabubnagar) along with three brownfield airports at Mamnoor (Warangal district), Basanth Nagar (Peddapally district) and Adilabad.

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) conducted Techno-Economic Feasibility Study (TEFS), Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) survey, soil testing and other tests for all six airports in relation to the context and submitted the reports to the state government in June 2021.

The survey suggested that only three airports at Warangal, Adilabad (Brownfield) and Jakranpally (Greenfield) are technically feasible where the AAI suggested private operations of small aircraft to avoid the immediate requirement of land acquisition.
