    Riyadh: Every year, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) provides free healthcare to the millions of people who arrive to perform the Umrah pilgrimage, ranging from simple check-ups to life-saving dental and heart surgery.

    Madinah Health Cluster reported that more than 55,000 visitors and Umrah performers have benefited from the services provided by Madinah’s seasonal health centres near the Prophet’s Mosque during this year’s holy month of Ramzan, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

    Al-Haram Hospital provided medical services to 10,797 visitors, while 15,040 patients at Al-Safia Health Center, have received medical care.

    A total of 1,240 people used the treatment facility at Bab Jebreel Health Centre. The health cluster said 1,791 people received treatment at the Al-Haramain High-Speed ​​Rail Health Center.

    Meanwhile, 24,680 Umrah pilgrims used the health services at Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport during the month of Ramzan.

    The ambulance transport service has transported 1,431 people to hospitals and medical centres. One patient required open-heart surgery, while 49 underwent cardiac catheterization.

    The government was keen to provide the highest levels of medical care to pilgrims and visitors during the month of Ramzan, and health groups were established at all entry and exit ports.

    SRINAGAR: Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden, located on the foothills of Zabarwan mountain range, turned out to be a major tourist attraction in Kashmir this year with over 3.7 lac visitors from far and wide thronging the garden to enjoy the diverse hues of nature at display.

    The Tulip garden spanning over an area of 30 hectares (74 acres) has on a year-to-year basis pulled record number of visitors from all across be it the local, the national or the foreigners.

    The figures suggest that a total of 377201 tourists of which 315266 included domestic, 3259 foreigners and 58676 locals visited the garden over a period of 33 days – after thrown open to visitors on March 19,2023 upto April 20, 2023.

    As per an official, the footfall this season was the highest ever. “We had 3.6 lakh tourists visiting the garden last year and this year it saw an increase making it the highest ever footfall in the history of this garden”, the official told GNS adding the period of tulip bloom this season lasted for 33 days, as compared to last year’s 27 day period, largely due to  mild weather conditions.

    “There were 68 varieties of tulips on display in the garden this season, out of these varieties, four new ones were introduced this year: Hamilton, Sweetheart, Cafe Noir and Christmas Dream”, the official said.

    Expressing his satisfaction over the record number of visitors, the official further said the enormous flow of Tourists from within and outside the country motivates us and imbues in us courage to do more to make the visit to the garden a memorable experience.

    Visakhapatnam: The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (Vizag Zoo) on Wednesday unveiled 10 battery-operated vehicles for hire, to enable visitors to explore the zoo with ease, curator in-charge G Mangamma said.

    Inaugurated by Chief Conservator of Forests Srikantha Natha Reddy, the e-vehicles will usher in an eco-friendly mode of transportation for visitors to explore the zoo in a sustainable manner, eliminating the need to combust fossil fuels.

    “The introduction of battery vehicles is another step in this direction, and we are confident that it will make a significant difference in reducing the carbon emissions of the park,” Reddy said in a statement issued by the zoo.

    Equipped to carry up to 10 people, the battery operated vehicles can help visitors avoid walking long distances. The vehicles can be hired at the main entrance or at the Sagar beach road gate.

    SRINAGAR: The Tulip Garden in central Kashmir’s district Srinagar has attracted over 1.58 lac visitors including local, national and international tourists in the first 12 days of its opening, officials said.

    The Assistance Floriculture Officer (AFO) and the ground level in-charge of Tulip Garden Inam-ul-Rehman stated that the garden was made accessible to the public on March 20, 2023, and has since emerged as a significant tourist destination, with visitors coming to see the bright hues of the tulips. In his words, “A total of 1.58 lakh people visited tulip garden Srinagar in the first 12 days and which includes local, national and international visitors.”

    Rehman added that the number of visitors has surpassed their expectations and the garden is receiving a positive response from visitors across the board. He said, “We are delighted to see that people are showing a keen interest in visiting the garden. The tulips are in full bloom and visitors are thoroughly enjoying the scenic beauty of the garden.”

    He further informed that the garden has been adorned with over 1.6 million blooming bulbs of 68 different colourful varieties, which were imported from various parts of the world. The garden also boasts several other types of flowers, such as Daffodils, Mascaries, and Hisins.

    The authorities have also made special arrangements to ensure the safety and comfort of the visitors, including garden clearance and maintenance, adequate drinking water facilities, and rain shelters.

    The renowned garden, situated on the foothills of Zabarwan Range in Srinagar along the banks of the Dal Lake, is set to remain open until the end of April, and authorities anticipate a surge in visitors in the days to come. (GNS)

The garden, situated at an altitude of 5,600 feet, will showcase over 16 lakh tulips of different varieties, along with hyacinths, daffodils and ranunculus the officials said.

    A grand opening ceremony is supposed to take place on March 19 with Director Floriculture, Farooq Ahmad Rather having requested the visitors to book their tickets online in advance.

    “The garden saw an estimated 3,60,000 people making their way to the garden”, said an official adding the department is hopeful of crossing that record this year around.

    Speaking about the arrangements made for visitors, Director Floriculture Farooq Ahmad Rather said that they have taken proper care of cleanliness and maintenance of the garden, along with other public utility services such as drinking water and rain shelters.

    Rather urged visitors to avoid carrying and throwing plastic inside the garden, and to refrain from carrying any eatables with them.

    “The Tulip Garden has earned worldwide recognition and was honoured as the world’s second-best garden in 2015”, he said adding “this is your own Garden, we welcome and invite you with open arms and with a big heart, but please have courtesy while you enjoy the beauty of the garden.

    Srinagar, Mar 09: Kashmir’s historic Badamwari was on Thursday thrown open for the general public while the authorities said that the almond bloom to be witnessed in the next 7-8 days at the garden.

    The visitors, especially the tourists from different parts of the country, were seen clicking pictures at the famous and historic Badamwari garden here today.

    Javed-ul-Islam, a tourist from Delhi, said that the garden is a wonderful place to click pictures and the people from outside should visit here. “Kashmir is blessed with picturesque places and Badamwari is one among them. It was a wonderful experience today at this garden,” he said.

    Director Floriculture, Farooq Ahmad Rather as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) also visited the park today where he said that only 20 per cent of almond trees are in bloom while the garden will witness complete bloom in the next 7-8 days.

    He said that the garden is being mostly visited by the people living around Srinagar City and the tourists as well. He added that the garden spread over an area of 300 kanals has 1500 almond trees with different varieties— (KNO)

    Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has provided more than 9,000 electric vehicles (EV) for Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the Grand Mosque in Makkah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

    The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Holy Mosque has provided electric vehicles (EVs) round the clock for elderly and disabled Umrah performers and pilgrims.

    The move helps them to perform the needed rituals with ease.

    More than 9,000 electric vehicles are at the service of visitors to the Grand Mosque and can be pre-booked through the Tanaqol (transport), which aims to serve pilgrims and Umrah performers through the latest technological developments.

    The application helps in the purchase of tickets and pre-booking of electric vehicles and reduces overcrowding at points of sale and delivery.
