    Gurugram Police arrests man from Visakhapatnam in case of cyber fraud

    Gurugram: The Gurugram Police has arrested an accused in Rs 1 crore cyber fraud case from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh who had transferred money from a company in a fake bank account after hacking into the e-mail ID.

    The police have recovered a mobile phone and 2 SIM cards from his possession and also frozen the fake account of the accused.

    According to the police, on March 27 a complaint was received at cyber crime, east police station and the complainant alleged that a person hacked into the e-mail ID of his company and transferred Rs 87,17,714 by his company employee to an account with Kotak Mahindra Bank in the name of investment.

    An FIR was registered and the probe was initiated.

    A team led by Cyber police station head inspector Jasveer finally nabbed the accused, identified as Manohar Appam, from Visakhapatnam.

    “The accused got the money transferred in a fake bank account after hacking into the e-mail ID but now he is in police custody. We will take him on remand after produced him before a city court on Friday,” said Priyanshu Dewan, ACP, Cyber.

    Visakhapatnam: Railway Board announced special trains to be operated between Visakhapatnam and Varanasi during Ganga Pushkaralu and during the summer season, officials informed on Wednesday.

    “After special efforts by MP GVL Narasimha Rao and intervention with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Railway Board today announced special trains to be operated between Visakhapatnam and Varanasi during Ganga Pushkaralu and during the summer season,” the press release said.

    “It may be noted here that MP GVL Narasimha Rao has been elected as the President of the Ganga Pushkaralu Organising Committee of Sri Kasi Telugu Samiti and is coordinating with the Prime Minister’s Office and Varanasi district administration to make all suitable arrangements and provide amenities to the pilgrims from the two Telugu states,” it added.

    The Railway board announced the schedule of special trains to travel from Visakhapatnam to Varanasi.

    “Special trains for Ganga Pushkaralu from Visakhapatnam to Varanasi will depart on April 19 and April 26. Trains will return on April 20 and April 27 respectively. Trains from Visakhapatnam to Varanasi and return special trains will also operate for 5 days in May and four days in June due to the rush in the summer season. Thus, 11 pairs of special trains will be operated from Visakhapatnam to Varanasi and return,” the official statement said.

    “Waltair division had proposed special trains for summer months some days ago, these special trains were sanctioned immediately after the intervention of MP GVL Narasimha Rao and his persistence to get special trains from Visakhapatnam to Varanasi was announced immediately,” the official statement added.

    MP GVL Narasimha Rao mentioned that his timely intervention led to the sanction of special trains on the route.

    “Expressing satisfaction that his intervention and efforts have helped sanction special trains from Visakhapatnam to Varanasi in time for pilgrims travelling for Ganga Pushkaralu and for summer vacations, MP Shri GVL Narasimha Rao stated that he has been working to resolve problems of people and businesses in Visakhapatnam and rest of Andhra Pradesh in every possible manner,” it said.

    “MP GVL Rao further stated that he was continuing with efforts to get more special trains for Varanasi sanctioned from Vijayawada and Tirupati to enable a large number of pilgrims to travel to Varanasi comfortably,” it added.

    Visakhapatnam: An incident of stone pelting on the Vande Bharat Express train has been reported from Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, said an official release.

    This is the third time when a stone pelting incident has been reported on Vishakhapatnam-Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express in the last three months.

    “Vandebharat Express leaving Visakhapatnam on Wednesday was rescheduled to leave at 09:45 Hrs instead of its scheduled departure at 05:45 hrs as the C-8 coach window glass is broken due to stone pelting by miscreants”, read an official release of Waltair Division Railway.

    Earlier in January, stones were pelted on the Vande Bharat train in Visakhapatnam city of Andhra Pradesh during maintenance.

    The glass pane of a coach of Vande Bharat Express was damaged near Kancharapalem in Visakhapatnam.

    According to Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Anup Kumar Sethupati, “Some unknown persons pelted stones at Vande Bharat train as it reached Visakhapatnam for maintenance and train run. Stones were pelted on train coaches during it was going to the coach care centre for maintenance from Visakhapatnam station.

    “He further said that they are verifying CCTV footage and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is searching for the accused people.

    “It was a very unfortunate incident. The coach glass of the brand new Vande Bharat train was broken after some unknown persons pelted stones on the coach near Kancharapalem. We are verifying CCTV cameras. Our RPF police searching for them. Once they catch will punish sincerely. The railway belongs to public money. I appeal to people who don’t do such kinds of things. Estimated the cost of the window glass around one lakh,” added the DRM.

    Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) organised Mock G20 Conclave at Andhra University on Friday.

    Donning the role of representatives of G20 member countries, an army of retired Professors, GVMC brand ambassadors, foreigners and students, attended the mock G20 meeting at Andhra University Convocation Hall that aimed at understanding the work and procedures of the G20 Council, its objectives and structure, etc.

    Ahead of G20 working group committee meeting scheduled to be held on March 28-29 under the G20 India presidency, a host of events have been organised under ‘Jan Bhagidari’ curtain raiser events.

    GVMC Commissioner P Raja Babu said that the GVMC is organising a series of programmes ahead of the global event to engage citizens.

    He announced that most of the beautification works in the city are near completion. Babu said that it is a very prestigious moment for Visakhapatnam to host the G20 working group committee meeting.

    Visakhapatnam: Two children and an adult were crushed to death when a three-storeyed residential building collapsed in the small hours of Thursday in Visakhapatnam, a police official said.

    At the time of the collapse, eight tenants from three families living on three floors were present in the building. Two of them were children, and both died.

    “Suddenly at 1.30 in the morning, the whole structure collapsed,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Sumit Sunil Garud said, sharing the preliminary information said. “Police and fire services responded immediately and with quick action we could rescue five of them.”

    Had the police and fire services not attended to the emergency immediately, Garud said, more occupants of the building would have died.

    The IPS officer, who spent two hours at the accident site, oversaw the rescue of a woman. Five rescued tenants are undergoing treatment in hospital.

    Meanwhile, police booked a case under Section 174 of CrPC (police must enquire and report on the circumstances of death) and are in the process of taking an expert opinion to ascertain the cause of the old building’s collapse.

    According to Garud, another building is also being constructed beside the collapsed one.

    Visakhapatnam: After the successful conduct of the Global Investors Summit, the Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to host the second G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting here on March 28 and 29.

    Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Visakhapatnam District Collector A Mallikarjuna said the theme of the second meeting will be ‘Financing cities of tomorrow – inclusive, resilient and sustainable’. The first G20 IWG meeting was held in Pune earlier in January.

    The two-day meeting in the city will be a part of India’s yearlong G20 presidency which will culminate with the summit-level meeting in New Delhi later in September.

    The District Collector said delegates from 40 countries will participate in the meeting along with central and state government officials. A pre-summit workshop will be held on March 23 and 24 in which secretaries from eight states will be in attendance.

    The delegates will arrive in the city on March 27 and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will participate in proceedings on the first day of the meeting on March 28.

    On March 29, a health retreat programme will be conducted, while delegates will go on a tour of the city on March 30. From March 8 to 26, the district administration will organise several programmes including beach cleaning from RK Beach to Bhimili art contests for ensuring maximum participation from the city’s residents.

    Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Ch Srikanth said the police department is taking all necessary measures to ensure security arrangements are in place for the delegates from the airport to the venue. He said nearly 2,350 police personnel will be deployed in view of the event.

    Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Commissioner P Raja Babu said the corporation will undertake beautification work with nearly Rs 100 crore allocated for the purpose, including repair of roads, laying new roads and installing lighting in the city.

    The mishap occurred in the classroom of Archakunipalem Primary School in Padmanabham Mandal of the district, they said.

    The injured students were immediately admitted to Vizianagaram Government Hospital for treatment.
