Akshay Kumar uses his own meme for ‘prank’ video on All Fools Day

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Bollywood‘s Khiladi star Akshay Kumar is known for his prank and this time he took it a notch higher by using his own meme for a prank video on April Fool’s Day.

Akshay took to Instagram to share a hilarious video of pranking his clothing brand FORCE IX’s co-founder Manish Mandhana. However, what caught the eye was the ending of the clip, where he shared a glimpse of his character Bunty from the film ‘Bhagam Bhag’.

The video, which seems to have been shot inside a studio, shows Akshay and the crew members of his clothing brand. In the clip, Akshay lifts up Mandhana with his arms, however, the impossible task is done by help, which the co-founder is not aware of.

    MS Education Academy

Akshay then asked Manish to lift him in the same manner, asking him to take all the weight on his arms. When Manish failed to do so and said it was difficult, Akshay did the task twice and Mandhana was impressed with Akshay’s “impossible” strength.

The entire unit was seen chuckling as Mandhana seemed confused.

Akshay captioned the clip: “Here’s some prank inspo for you all to try today. Tell me how it went. April Fool’s Day.”

On the work front, Akshay will next be seen in ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. He also has ‘OMG 2’, Hindi remake of ‘Soorarai Pottru’, ‘Capsule Gill’ and ‘Hera Pheri 3’.

  • Will soon appear before world, says Amritpal Singh in new video

Will soon appear before world, says Amritpal Singh in new video

    [ad_1]

Chandigarh: A day after daring the Punjab police to arrest him, radical preacher Amritpal Singh surfaced in a fresh video on Thursday, asserting he was not a fugitive and would soon appear before the world.

A day earlier, a video had appeared on social media with the pro-Khalistan preacher asking the jathedar (or chief) of the highest temporal body of Sikhs to summon a congregation of the faithful to discuss issues concerning the community.

The purported video surfaced hours after his audio clip came out on social media in which he debunked speculation he was negotiating his surrender.

“Those who feel that I have turned fugitive and I have left my associates, they should not keep this illusion in their mind. I do not fear death,” he said in the video in Punjabi.

“And soon will appear before the world and will also be amongst the ‘Sangat’,” Amritpal Singh said.

Police have stepped up security in and around Amritsar and Bathinda amid reports that Amritpal Singh may surrender after entering any of the two Sikh shrines – Golden Temple in Amritsar and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Bathinda.

The pro-Khalistan preacher said he was not like those who would flee the country. “One has to face a lot during the days of rebellion These days of rebellion are difficult to pass,” he said.

“I want to tell the government that I did not fear them before and I don’t fear them now. Whatever they have to do they may do… I cannot even think of becoming a fugitive,” Amritpal Singh said, adding that he was not afraid of getting arrested.

He appealed to the people not to get swayed by propaganda.

It was his second video since being on the run amid a police crackdown on his outfit ‘Waris Punjab De’.

Amritpal Singh, in the clip, again asked the jathedar of the Akal Takht to summon a congregation.

Take out a ‘Khalsa Vaheer’ (religious procession) from the Akal Takht in Amritsar to Damdama Sahib in Bathinda and hold a ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ there on Baisakhi, he said.

It is time for the jathedar to prove allegations of his affiliation to a particular family wrong and he must stand up for the community, he added.

In the audio clip, Amritpal Singh piled pressure on the Sikh body, saying, “If we are going to play politics even today, doing the same things we used to do earlier, then what’s the point of being a jathedar in the future.”

“We should understand that today is the time for the entire community to come together,” he said in Punjabi, calling for “unity” among Sikh bodies.

In the first video clip too, Amritpal Singh had tried to argue that the issue was not just his arrest, but about larger concerns of the Sikh community.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has informed the Akal Takht that almost all the people taken into preventive custody – 348 out of 360 – during the crackdown against Amritpal Singh and his Waris Punjab De’ outfit have now been released.

Jathedar Harpreet Singh had earlier issued an “ultimatum” to the state government to release the Sikh youths picked up during the crackdown that began on March 18.

There was no immediate comment by police on the authenticity of the nearly two-minute audio clip and about six-minute video.

On Thursday, a drone was deployed over the village in Hoshiarpur where some suspects abandoned their car two days back after a police chase. There was speculation that Amritpal Singh could have been in that vehicle.

Security also remained stepped up around Amritsar’s Golden Temple, but officials claimed this was not linked to the hunt for Amritpal Singh. They took out another flag march in the area.

The preacher remains untraceable since March 18, when he gave the slip to a police dragnet in Jalandhar, switching cars and changing appearances.

The trigger for the crackdown was the storming of the Ajnala police station last month by him and his supporters, some of them brandishing firearms to secure the release of an arrested man. Six police personnel were injured.

Video: BJP MLA watches x-rated clip during Tripura Assembly session

    [ad_1]

Agartala: In a shameful incident, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Bagbasa constituency, Jadab Lal Debnath, was allegedly caught watching porn during the Tripura Assembly session. This incident has once again raised concerns about the conduct of lawmakers and their sense of responsibility towards the public.

This is not the first time that such an incident has come to light. In 2012, under the BJP government in Karnataka, two ministers were caught on camera allegedly watching a porn clip on a mobile phone in the state Assembly while proceedings were on.

Such incidents not only bring disrepute to lawmakers but also raise questions about their ability to fulfill their duties and responsibilities towards the public.

The recent incident in Tripura has once again highlighted the issue of lawmakers being distracted from their duties and indulging in activities that are not only inappropriate but also disrespectful to the sanctity of the Assembly.

Opposition leader demand action against MLA

Criticising the BJP MLA, opposition leader Animesh Debbarma said that all the legislators are responsible persons and their acts should not create a bad precedent for the others, especially the young generations. Debbarma demanded appropriate action against the legislator.

The CPI(M) and Congress also criticised Nath and demanded severe action against him

“Operation of mobile phones inside the Assembly is restricted. We should all concentrate on the proceedings and business of the House.. Despite this, Nath watched the porn video damaging the reputations of the House,” said Birajit Sinha, state Congress chief and one of the three party MLAs.

He said that if the BJP has minimum morality, it must take action against Nath.

Reacting to the viral video, BJP Tripura state President Rajib Bhattacharya told IANS that the party would soon issue a notice to him and seek clarification.

X-rated clip played at Patna railway station

In addition to lawmakers, other incidents of inappropriate content being displayed in public spaces have also been reported in recent times. In a recent incident at the Patna railway station, hundreds of passengers waiting to board trains were faced with an awkward situation when an x-rated clip played at all the TV screens installed across the 10 platforms for three minutes.

The contract for telecasting videos and films on the railway stations of the Danapur division is given to a private company. Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials immediately contacted them and stopped the telecast.

  • Amritpal Singh says in new video he is in high spirits, calls for ‘Sarbat Khalsa’

Amritpal Singh says in new video he is in high spirits, calls for ‘Sarbat Khalsa’

    [ad_1]

Chandigarh: Amid a police crackdown on Amritpal Singh and his outfit, the pro-Khalistan preacher appeared in a video on Wednesday, calling for a ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ congregation on Baisakhi to discuss issues related to the Sikh community and saying he is in high spirits.

The fugitive said if the Punjab government wanted only to arrest him, they would have come to his home and he would have given up. He claimed the police action against him was an “attack” on the Sikh community.

“As far as my arrest is concerned, it is in the hands of God,” he said in Punjabi in the undated video.

“Main chardhi kala chaan, koi ve mera vaal vinga nahi kar sakya (I am in high spirits. Nobody could harm me),” he said, adding he did not fear being arrested earlier nor he does now.

There was no official word on the purported video, which appeared as the Punjab Police try to close in on Amritpal Singh. Some reports have also suggested he might surrender as the security in Amritsar and Talwandi Sabo area in Bathinda has been tightened.

Since the crackdown began on March 18, the 30-year-old radical preacher has been on the run, using different vehicles and changing his appearance multiple times. He managed to escape the police dragnet when his cavalcade was intercepted in Jalandhar district.

Several videos and images have appeared on social media that purportedly showed him alone and with his aides in different areas.

The crackdown on his outfit Waris Punjab De started weeks after Amritpal Singh’s supporters stormed a police station in Ajnala, near Amritsar, to secure the release of one his followers. The Punjab government has slapped the stringent National Security Act against him and some of his close aides.

In the latest video, Amritpal Singh urged the Akal Takht Jathedar to call a ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ to discuss the issues related to the Sikh community and asked members of the community to participate in large numbers.

“If we have to save the youth and Punjab then we should be part of the Sarbat Khalsa,” he said in his appeal. “For a very long time, our community has got entangled with holding small morchas on many issues,” he said.

“We know the path which we have tread, we will have to face all this. It was our duty to raise voice against it,” he said.

The radical preacher also slammed police for invoking the National Security Act against his associates and sending some of them to Dibrugarh jail in Assam.

Amritpal Singh, who wore a black turban and a shawl in the video, said he was appearing before the Sikh community for the first time after the police crackdown was launched as he wanted to speak to them about whatever happened that day.

“If the government’s intention had only been to arrest me, it could have come to my house and arrested me, I would have given up,” he said. “But the way adopted by the government to deploy lakhs of cops and laying a cordon, the Almighty brought us out of that,” he said.

Accusing the Punjab government of not allowing his ‘Khalsa Vaheer’ (religious procession) earlier, he said he lost touch with what was happening in the state when the mobile internet services were suspended by the state government.

“I have now seen some news showing what is happening in Punjab,” he said.

Referring to the police crackdown, he claimed that the Punjab government has made Sikh youths accused in the matter and sent to sent to jails. “They did not even spare women and children and also sent even handicapped youth to jails.”

“This was the same thing the Beant Singh government had done with Sikhs,” he alleged.

He also thanked people for supporting him during the crackdown.

“But we need to understand the present situation that it was not only an issue of my arrest. It was a matter of an attack on the Sikh community. I did not fear arrest earlier nor do I now,” he said.

Without naming Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the fugitive slammed him for his comments pertaining to the Akal Takht Jathedar who had given a 24-hour ultimatum to the government for the release of Sikh youths from jails.

Amritpal Singh asked the Akal Takht Jathedar to take a tough stand on the matter.

  • Video shows guards walking away during fire that killed 38 migrants

Video shows guards walking away during fire that killed 38 migrants

    [ad_1]

    mexico migrant deaths 12386

“I was desperate because I saw a dead body, a body, a body, and I didn’t see him anywhere,” Infante Padrón said of her husband, Eduard Caraballo López, who in the end survived with only light injuries, perhaps because he was scheduled for release and was near a door.

But what she saw in those first minutes has become the center of a question much of Mexico is asking itself: Why didn’t authorities attempt to release the men — almost all from Guatemala, Honduras, Venezuela and El Salvador — before smoke filled the room and killed so many?

“There was smoke everywhere. The ones they let out were the women, and those (employees) with immigration,” Infante Padrón said. “The men, they never took them out until the firefighters arrived.”

“They alone had the key,” Infante Padrón said. “The responsibility was theirs to open the bar doors and save those lives, regardless of whether there were detainees, regardless of whether they would run away, regardless of everything that happened. They had to save those lives.”

Immigration authorities said they released 15 women when the fire broke out, but have not explained why no men were let out.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Wednesday that both immigration agents and security guards from a private contractor were present at the facility. He said any misconduct would be punished.

Pope Francis on Wednesday offered prayers at the end of his general audience for the victims who died in the “tragic fire.”

Surveillance video leaked Tuesday shows migrants, reportedly fearing they were about to be moved, placing foam mattresses against the bars of their detention cell and setting them on fire.

In the video, later confirmed by the government, two people dressed as guards rush into the camera frame, and at least one migrant appears by the metal gate on the other side. But the guards don’t appear to make any effort to open the cell doors and instead hurry away as billowing clouds of smoke fill the structure within seconds.

“What humanity do we have in our lives? What humanity have we built? Death, death, death,” thundered Bishop Mons. José Guadalupe Torres Campos at a Mass in memory of the migrants.

Mexico’s National Immigration Institute, which ran the facility, said it was cooperating in the investigation. Guatemala has already said that many of the victims were its citizens, but full identification of the dead and injured remains incomplete.

U.S. authorities have offered to help treat some of the 28 victims in critical or serious condition, most apparently from smoke inhalation.

Advocacy groups blamed the tragedy on a long series of decisions made by leaders in places like Venezuela and Central America, and by immigration policymakers in Mexico and the United States, as well of residents in Ciudad Juarez complaining about the number of migrants asking for handouts on street corners.

“Mexico’s immigration policy kills,” more than 30 migrant shelters and other advocacy organizations said in statement Tuesday.

Those same advocacy organizations published an open letter March 9 that complained of a criminalization of migrants and asylum-seekers in Ciudad Juarez. It accused authorities of abusing migrants and using excessive force in rounding them up, including complaints that municipal police questioned people in the street about their immigration status without cause.

The Mexican president had said Tuesday that the fire was started by migrants in protest after learning they would be deported or moved. “They never imagined that this would cause this terrible misfortune,” López Obrador said.

Immigration activist Irineo Mujica said the migrants feared being sent back, not necessarily to their home countries, but to southern Mexico, where they would have to cross the country all over again.

“When people reach the north, it’s like a ping-pong game — they send them back down south,” Mujica said.

“We had said that with the number of people they were sending, the sheer number of people was creating a ticking time bomb,” Mujica said. “Today that time bomb exploded.”

The migrants were stuck in Ciudad Jaurez because U.S. immigration policies don’t allow them to cross the border to file asylum claims. But they were rounded up because Ciudad Juarez residents were tired of migrants blocking border crossings or asking for money.

The high level of frustration in Ciudad Juarez was evident earlier this month when hundreds of mostly Venezuelan migrants tried to force their way across one of the international bridges to El Paso, acting on false rumors that the United States would allow them to enter the country. U.S. authorities blocked their attempts.

After that, Ciudad Juarez Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuellar started campaigning to inform migrants there was room in shelters and no need to beg in the streets. He urged residents not to give money to them, and said authorities removed migrants intersections where it was dangerous to beg and residents saw the activity as a nuisance.

For the migrants, the fire is another tragedy on a long trail of tears.

About 100 migrants gathered Tuesday outside the immigration facility’s doors to demand information about relatives. In many cases, they asked the same question Mexico is asking itself.

Katiuska Márquez, a 23-year-old Venezuelan woman with her two children, ages 2 and 4, was seeking her half-brother, Orlando Maldonado, who had been traveling with her.

“We want to know if he is alive or if he’s dead,” she said. She wondered how all the guards who were inside made it out alive and only the migrants died. “How could they not get them out?”

For the second time in the history of the United States (US), hundreds of Muslims observing Ramzan broke their fast and offered Taraweeh prayers in New York City’s Times Square.

Taraweeh is part of the holy Quran that is recited every day during the month of Ramzan until its completion.

On Saturday night, March 25, the event was organised by Muslim social media influencer SQ, in collaboration with Muslims Giving Back and Droplets of Mercy.

At sunset, Quran reciters Faisal Latif and Faraj Hassan led prayers and people started breaking their fast with free iftar meals.

2,000 iftar meals were served to Muslims on the sidewalks of Times Square, the city’s busiest artery, then followed by hundreds of Muslims participating in Taraweeh prayers.

As per media reports, the aim of the event was to help non-Muslim New Yorkers learn how to celebrate Ramzan.

A projector also displayed verses from the holy Quran as they were recited, along with English translations.

    Watch the video below

One of the organizers of the gathering, SQ shared a video on Instagram and wrote, “This Deen is HAQQ & I will never stops until Islam enters every home.”

“Taraweeh in Time Square is just the beginnning In Sha Allah, Jazzahkum Allahkhyr to EVERYONE who pulled up in the POOREST of weather conditions. Allah seen your hearts & chose you for this alhamdulillah. I know you all had a blast,” SQ added.

One of the social media blogger name Faduma took to Instagram and wrote, “Witnessed prayer in Time Square and to be frank many non-Muslims were in awe. Just standing and listening to the eords of Allah. Seen many smiles Alhamdulillah. Islam is a faith of unity and peace and proud to be part of the billions that share the same faith.”

At the end of the night, two people took the shahada and converted to Islam after hearing the recitation of the Quran.

For the first time in US history in 2022, Muslims perform Taraweeh prayers at New York Times Square.

Times Square is one of the largest commercial intersections, for tourists to enjoy their entertainment venues located in Manhattan, New York.

At the time of the blaze, 68 men from Central and South America were being held at the facility, the agency said. The institute said almost all were from Guatemala, Honduras, Venezuela and El Salvador.

In the video, two people dressed as guards rush into the camera frame, and at least one migrant appears by the metal gate on the other side. But the guards did not appear to make any effort to open the cell doors and instead ran away as billowing clouds of smoke filled the structure within seconds.

Adán Augusto López, Mexico’s interior secretary, confirmed the authenticity of the video in an interview with local journalist Joaquín López Doriga.

Immigration authorities identified the dead and injured as being from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador, according to a statement from the Mexican attorney general’s office.

Mexico President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said the fire was started by migrants in protest after learning they would be deported.

“They never imagined that this would cause this terrible misfortune,” López Obrador said.

The deaths forced the government to rent refrigerated trailers to hold the migrants’ bodies, Chihuahua state prosecutor Cesar Jáuregui told reporters.

The detention facility is across the street from Juarez’s city hall.

At a nearby hospital, Viangly Infante Padrón, a 31-year-old Venezuelan migrant seeking asylum in the U.S. with her husband and three children, waited for her husband, who was being treated for smoke inhalation. The previous evening, she was waiting outside the detention center for his release when the fire broke out.

“There was smoke everywhere. The ones they let out were the women, and those (employees) with immigration,” she said. “The men, they never took them out until the firefighters arrived.”

She saw several dead bodies before finding her husband in an ambulance. “I was desperate because I saw a dead body, a body, a body, and I didn’t see him anywhere.”

Earlier, about 100 migrants gathered Tuesday outside the immigration facility’s doors to demand information about relatives.

Authorities did not immediately answer that question.

Márquez and Maldonado were detained Monday with the children and about 20 others. They had been in Juarez waiting for an appointment from U.S. authorities to request asylum. They were staying in a rented room where 10 people were living, paying for it with the money they begged in the street.

“I was at a stoplight with a piece of cardboard asking for what I needed for my children, and people were helping me with food,” she said. Suddenly agents came and detained everyone.

Everyone was taken to the immigration facility but only the men were placed in the cells. Three hours later, the women and children were released.

Tensions between authorities and migrants had apparently been running high in recent weeks in Ciudad Juarez, where shelters are full of people waiting for opportunities to cross into the U.S. or for the asylum process to play out.

More than 30 migrant shelters and other advocacy organizations published an open letter March 9 that complained of a criminalization of migrants and asylum seekers in the city. It accused authorities of abusing migrants and using excessive force in rounding them up, including complaints that municipal police questioned people in the street about their immigration status without cause.

The high level of frustration in Ciudad Juarez was evident earlier this month when hundreds of mostly Venezuelan migrants tried to force their way across one of the international bridges to El Paso, acting on false rumors that the United States would allow them to enter the country. U.S. authorities blocked their attempts.

After that, Juarez Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuellar started campaigning to inform migrants there was room in shelters and no need to beg in the streets. He urged residents not to give money to them and said authorities would remove them from intersections where it was dangerous to beg and allegedly a nuisance to residents.

Migrant advocates who recently denounced more aggressive tactics said Tuesday that the immigration facility was over capacity and that the site of the fire was small and lacked ventilation.

“You could see it coming,” the advocates’ statement said. “Mexico’s immigration policy kills.”

The national immigration agency said Tuesday that it “energetically rejects the actions that led to this tragedy” without any further explanation.

The “extensive use of immigration detention leads to tragedies like this one,” Felipe González Morales, the United Nations special rapporteur for human rights of migrants, said via Twitter. In keeping with international law, immigration detention should be an exceptional measure and not generalized, he wrote.

Mexico’s immigration lockups have seen overcrowding, protests and riots from time to time.

In October, a group of mostly Venezuelan migrants rioted inside an immigration center in Tijuana. In November, dozens of migrants rioted in Mexico’s largest detention center in the southern city of Tapachula near the border with Guatemala. No one died in either incident.

Mexico has emerged as the world’s third most popular destination for asylum-seekers, after the United States and Germany. But it is still largely a country that migrants pass through on their way to the U.S.

Asylum-seekers must stay in the state where they apply in Mexico, resulting in large numbers being holed up near the country’s southern border with Guatemala. Tens of thousands are also in border cities.

At a Mass celebrated in memory of the migrants, Bishop Mons. José Guadalupe Torres Campos lamented the sudden grief that had descended upon the migrant community.

“The shout, the cry of everyone is enough, enough of so much pain, enough of so much death,” he said.
