VHP issues legal notice to Congress president for defaming Bajrang Dal

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Vishva Hindu Parishad has issued a legal notice to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, accusing him of making defamatory remarks against the Bajrang Dal in his party’s Karnataka poll manifesto and demanding a compensation of more than Rs 100 crore.

The notice was issued by the Chandigarh unit of the VHP and its youth wing Bajrang Dal on May 4, demanding the compensation within 14 days.

There was no immediate response from Congress on the queries sent to the party in this regard.

In its poll manifesto for May 10 assembly polls in Karnataka, the Congress said it is committed to take firm and decisive action against individuals and organisations such as the Bajrang Dal and the Popular Front of India (PFI) “spreading hatred” among communities on grounds of caste and religion.

The action will include a “ban” against such organisations, the party promised.

“That in the manifesto at Page 10, you made defamatory statements against the Bajrang Dal, associate body of the Vishva Hindu Parishad by declaring to ban the organisation and comparing it to outlawed terrorist organisations like the Popular Front of India and similar terrorist organisations like Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) which are outlawed under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act by the Government of India,” VHP’s lawyer and co-head of its legal cell Sahil Bansal charged in the legal notice.

“The PFI and SIMI are terrorist organisations associated with Al Qaeda and ISIS and other global terrorist organisations proscribed by the United Nations General Assembly and by more than 100 nations as well as proscribed under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act,” he added.

Bansal claimed the Bajrang Dal “believes in universalism, tolerance, dharmic unity, national integrity and service towards Bharat Mata and in doing so seeks inspiration from the reverential example of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman who are the ideal embodiment of Dharma and Service”.

The Bajrang Dal is “totally devoted to the service of dharma and in doing so devoted to the service of mankind”, the VHP’s counsel said, adding, “Unto that end the credentials of the Bajrang Dal are unassailable and unimpeachable.”

“That the defamatory statement which you made in the election manifesto and it’s subsequent release in general public is having a tendency to injure the reputation of my client, lower them in the estimation of others and bring them in obliquity contempt and ridicule,” he charged Kharge in the legal notice.

“My client demands special damages on account of injury inflicted to their reputation, honour due to the statement/averments, which you have made in the election manifesto,” he said.

The VHP counsel “advised” Kharge to pay a total of Rs 100.10 crore to the VHP and Bajrang Dal within 14 days of the issuance of the legal notice.

Atiq murder case accused have no connection with VHP or Bajrang Dal: Alok Kumar

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday said none of the three accused arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police for killing gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf has any link with it or its youth wing, Bajrang Dal.

Dismissing allegations regarding the Bajrang Dal’s involvement in the killing of Ahmad, a former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP, and Ashraf, VHP working president Alok Kumar said his organisation and the Bajrang Dal work “under the framework of laws and the Constitution”.

“We have enquired properly. None of the three accused has any connection with the Vishva Hindu Parishad or the Bajrang Dal. What is being spread is false,” Kumar said when asked about the allegations.

“Taking law in our own hands has never been our thought. We are confident that the truth will come out during the investigation,” he added.

Ahmad (60) and Ashraf were shot dead at almost point-blank range by three men posing as journalists on Saturday night while police personnel were escorting them to a medical college in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj for a checkup.

WB: Post Ram Navami violence, VHP to hold 500 Hanuman Jayanti events

    [ad_1]

Kolkata: Amid the furore over violence during celebration of Ram Navami in West Bengal, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to conduct 500 Hanuman Jayanti programmes across the state on Thursday.

VHP national assistant secretary Sachindranath Singha told PTI that no weapons would be carried during the Hanuman Jayanti processions in the state.

“Around 500 small programmes would be organised across the state. We won’t take out too many rallies and only a few will be held. No weapons will be carried during the rallies,” he said.

    MS Education Academy

When asked whether the decision not to hold many processions is the fallout of the violence during Ram Navami, Singha replied in the negative.

“Rallies are taken out during Ram Navami, and programmes are organised during Hanuman Jayanti. It has nothing to do with the problems during Ram Navami this time,” he said.

Prohibitory orders were imposed in West Bengal’s Hooghly and Howrah districts, where clashes broke out between two groups during Ram Navami procession.

The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday directed the West Bengal government to requisition central forces to assist the state police in maintaining peace during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations.

Singha welcomed the court order and blamed the state government for violence during the recent Ram Navami celebrations.

“The state government should have taken stern measures,” he said.

Reacting to Singha’s comment, TMC state spokesperson Kunal Ghosh blamed the BJP and VHP for fomenting trouble in the state.
“The BJP, RSS and its affiliates like the VHP are fomenting trouble in the area. They are trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the state,” he said.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday urged people to celebrate the Hanuman Jayanti festival peacefully.

  • VHP lauds AAP govt in Punjab, Centre for ‘willpower’ against Amritpal

VHP lauds AAP govt in Punjab, Centre for ‘willpower’ against Amritpal

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday praised the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab as well as the Centre for investigation against punjab-de”>Waris Punjab De leader Amritpal Singh.

At a celebration of the Hindu New Year, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Working President Alok Kumar said the Punjab government had shown “willpower and determination” in action against Amritpal Singh and his aides.

“In the past two days, the willpower and determination showed by Punjab, and the way the Centre and Punjab have together taken those challenging India’s integrity head-on, it is something to celebrate. Some people have started running businesses in the name of Khalistan, this should be banned immediately,” said VHP’s President Kumar.

“The best thing in this matter is that the people of Punjab are no longer with any kind of extremism, efforts should be made to stop any kind of extremism to them,” he added.

Criticising the abroad protests and attacks on Indian missions in the UK by alleged pro-Khalistan elements, Alok Kumar lauded the Centre for registering its protest with London over it.

He said, “At present, the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an Indian and a proud Hindu. At this time we all have to come together and agree that the nation’s issues cannot be issues of dispute. All parties must come together and take a stand as one on the issue of the new business of Khalistan in Canada and the UK.”

VHP general secretary Milind Parande, who also addressed the gathering, said, “Given the “conducive” environment for Hindutva, the organisation had made significant expansion. It had made significant expansion, growing by “100% in the past year”.

Parande said the VHP had reached 1.33 lakh villages while 72 lakh people had joined it.

VHP international joint general secretary Surendra Jain said, “It is a well-known fact that the Hindu community is currently representing every evolutionary region of the world, that is why some people are making objectionable comments on Hindu religion, Hindu scriptures and Hindu great men.”

He said that even these people themselves know that they are fighting a losing battle.

Recently, intensifying his attack on Rahul Gandhi for his criticism of Indian democracy in London, Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda said the leader whose party is being rejected by the public is saying that democracy is “under attack”.

Nadda also stated, “It’s unfortunate that the Congress party is indulging in anti-national activities. After being repeatedly rejected by the nation, Rahul Gandhi has now become a permanent part of this anti-nationalist toolkit.”

Punjab: VHP hails crackdown on Khalistan sympathiser Amritpal Singh

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday hailed the police crackdown on radical Sikh preacher and Khalistan sympathiser Amritpal Singh in Punjab, saying the state government’s action in collaboration with the Centre reflects the country’s resolve to take on forces challenging the sovereignty of India.

Addressing a press conference, VHP working president Alok Kumar also appreciated the Punjab government for showing the “will-power and determination” to take action against such elements.

He also called upon everyone to rise above political lines and come together to send out a message that the country will not allow anyone to let Punjab “burn in the fire of terrorism once again.”

“In the last two days, the will power and determination that Punjab has shown as well as the way the state government and the Centre together has taken on the forces challenging the sovereignty of India reflects the country’s resolve,” Kumar told reporters.

“The Punjab government joining hands with the Centre has challenged the divisive forces in the state and we see that the one, who used to challenge the government and challenge the country’s Home minister, had to run and hide today,” he said.

The VHP leader alleged that Khalistan is “a new business, especially in Canada and England,” and said every Indian should rise and protest against it.

Deity installation ceremony in Ayodhya’s Ram Temple in January 2024: VHP

    [ad_1]

Nagpur: A grand pran pratishtha’ (installation of the deity) ceremony will be organised at the upcoming Ram Temple in Ayodhya in January 2024 before it is opened for devotees, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) said on Friday.

Addressing a press conference in Nagpur, VHP General Secretary Milind Parande said the programme of ‘pran pratishta’ at Ramjanmabhoomi in the Uttar Pradesh town will be held during the 15-day period after Makar Sankranti in January next year.

He said preparations for the grand programme have already started and the multi-day event is likely to attended by 25 lakh to 40 lakh devotees.

On March 15, a prominent member of the trust set up for the construction and management of the shrine said the idol of Lord Ram Lalla will be installed at its original place in the temple by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the third week of January 2024.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj had said in Thane that the temple construction work was going on in full swing.

At the press conference, Parande also informed that the VHP recently concluded its membership campaign and saw more than 100 per cent rise in enrolments.

“We had made 34 lakh members in the last campaign and have enrolled nearly 72 lakh members this year. We are now present in more than 1.35 lakh villages in the country,” claimed Parande.

The Hindutva outfit has its network in 29 countries and started its work in Suriname (northern South America) and the Caribbean (located between North America and South America) from this year, said the organisation’s general secretary.

Delhi: BJP, VHP protest after temple demolished as part of DDA anti-encroachment drive

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) demolished a temple in the Rajender Nagar area on Thursday as part of its anti-encroachment drive, triggering a protest by the BJP and the Vishva Hindu Parishad.

An official of the DDA said, “For demolition of religious structures, the nod of the religious committee (formed by the government) is required. We sought the committee’s approval and following its go-ahead, the demolition was carried out.”

A senior police officer said that adequate security arrangements were made for the demolition exercise in the Rajender Nagar area of central Delhi.

“The demolition drive was carried out Thursday morning. Forty per cent of the structure was demolished and the process was conducted peacefully,” the police officer said.

Several BJP and Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders and workers staged a sit-in at the temple in protest against the demolition exercise.

Former Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal government was targeting temples in the city.

“We are protesting the action by DDA and I appeal to people to gather here and oppose the effort to demolish the temple,” Gupta said.

Tamil Nadu: VHP worker held for threatening Christian priest

    [ad_1]

Ariyalur’s district secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Muthuvel has been arrested on Wednesday by the police for blackmailing a priest with Rs 25 lakhs.

According to reports, Muthuvel demanded Rs 25 lakhs from the priest Dominic Savio of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Ariyalur, Thanjavur district, failing which he would release videos to tarnish the latter’s image.

Muthuvel has been deeply engaged in Lavanya’s suicide case. The 17-year-old student from Sacred Hearts Higher Secondary School, Ariyalur, consumed poison on January 9 and died ten days later.

Before passing away, Muthuvel visited Lavanya in the hospital and recorded two videos of her. She said she took the extreme step as she was being forced to convert to Christianity. Allegations of torture after her refusal to convert were also raised by the girl.

The case created a political furore in DMK-ruled Tamil Nadu with the VHP and BJP leaders condemning the incident and blaming the state government for not putting a pin on the “blatant religious conversion” in the state.

On a plea filed by the girl’s father, the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court on January 21 passed an order to transfer the case to the CBI. The case is currently under investigation. However, on February 3, the state government filed an appeal in the Supreme Court challenging the order.

Telangana govt supporting ‘love jihad’: VHP, Bajrang Dal protest medico’s suicide

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday protested against Telangana Government over the death of Warangal PG medical student Dr. Preethi.

“The incompetent government’s rule is supporting rapes and love jihads. There have been many such incidents in the past and the actions of love-jihad extremists are increasing day by day with the government’s backing. Kakatiya Medical student D Preethi passed away at 9:10 PM on Sunday due to Saif. Bajrang dal condemns this incident,” said Bajrang Dal Telangana state convener Sivaramulu.

The effigy of the government was burnt at Koti Crossroads in the presence of Bajrang Dal. A protest was conducted in the Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda by VHP’s Durga Vahini, the female wing.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday staged a protest at Kaktiya Medical College in Warangal.

Carrying ABVP flags and raising slogans, the protestors marched towards Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) but were stopped by the police at the main gate. The protestors had an argument with the policemen, triggering tension.

The ABVP men were demanding the suspension of KMC Principal Mohan Das and Head of the Department Nagarjuna Reddy.

26-year-old Preethi, a first-year student of the postgraduate (MD) in the department of Anaesthesia, attempted suicide on February 22 allegedly by taking a lethal injection while on duty at AMGM Hospital. She succumbed at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) on Sunday night.

The police have already arrested Preethi’s senior M. A. Saif, a second-year student in the department of Anaesthesia.

Police said targeted harassment of Preethi by her senior could have driven her to commit suicide.

Police booked Saif for abetment to suicide. He was also booked under the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and Anti-Ragging Act.

Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday remarked that in the case of the Warangal Medico Preethi’s suicide, it is clearly visible that chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is in support of ‘one community’.

Sanjay was indirectly referring to the dead victim’s senior MA Saif, who belongs to the Muslim community and is the main accused in the case. Sanjay in the past had also referred to the case as a clear case of ‘love jihad’.

  • Bhiwani Killings: VHP, Bajrang Dal rally in support of accused Monu Manesar

Bhiwani Killings: VHP, Bajrang Dal rally in support of accused Monu Manesar

    [ad_1]

After cow vigilante Monu Manesar was named accused in the killing of two Muslim men from Rajasthan in Haryana, members of the right-wing organisations, VHP (Vishva Hindu Parishad) and Bajrang Dal took out a rally in his support on Saturday.

Nasir and Junaid were kidnapped, lynched and murdered allegedly by members of the Bajrang Dal, including Manesar, on suspicion of their involvement in cow slaughter, on Tuesday.

The bodies of the victims were found charred to death in a car following which a case was booked. So far, six have been detained for questioning in connection with the case.

“Jo ham se takrayega choor choor hojayega” (Those who clash with us, will be razed to dust), “Monu Bhai aagey badho hum tumharey saath hain” (Monu brother, move forward! We are with you!), “Gau rakshakoun ke samman mei, har Hindu maidan mei” (For the respect of cow vigilantes, every Hindu will step into the field) were raised in the rally.

Slogans were also raised against the Gehlot government in Rajasthan after a case was booked against the cow vigilantes in Gopalgarh on Wednesday. Aside from him, the FIR names Bajrang Dal leaders Lokesh, Rinku Saini and Srikant for kidnapping and beating Junaid and Nasir

Manesar has been an active Bajrang Dal member since 2016 and has on several occasions shared photos of himself with high-profile politicians and police officials.

He has also shared several videos of himself and other members of the Bajrang Dal brandishing guns and threatening alleged cow smugglers, several of who were seen wounded.

VHP spokespersons held press conferences in Gurgaon and stated that they would hold protests in Rajasthan’s Alwar.

They stated that the discovery of the bodies, the filing of two FIRs (abduction and murder) and the names of cow vigilantes being taken and their arrest without any evidence and investigation is absolutely wrong and a communal issue.

They have demanded that forensic evidence must be taken and a CBI probe must be initiated into the issue before the accused are arrested and alleged that they have been arrested based on “claims of a Muslim” and based on circumstantial evidence.

“We cannot expect anything from the Rajasthan government hence the CBI must be involved. They are trying to misuse this opportunity for political gains. This is against the law. We will hold Mahapanchayats to protest against this,” said a VHP leader.

Following the deaths, a family member of one of the deceased was quoted by Maktoob Media stating that Monu Manesar, along with other members had abducted Junaid and Nasir from the forests of Piruka and taken them to Barwas village in Bhiwani.

The family alleged that their SUV was stopped on Wednesday morning, on the suspicion of cow-smuggling, after hitting the vehicle and the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team of Ferozepur-Jhirka was present there. Both the men were first severely beaten, and handed over to the Bajrang Dal team in a half-dead condition and taken to the police station. But the police refused to take them into custody after seeing their condition.

Both were then burnt alive along with the Bolero and the bodies of the duo were found on Wednesday night near Loharu village of Bhiwani.

At the same time, a claim is also being made that Junaid and Nasir were thrashed and kidnapped along with the SUV by some Bajrang Dal members from Piruka village in Bharatpur on Wednesday morning, before being burnt alive in Haryana. Police have however termed this allegation false.
