No religious event allowed on roads in Uttar Pradesh

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: No religious events will be allowed to take place on roads, obstructing traffic during the upcoming festivals of Eid, Akshay Tritya and Parshuram Jayanti in Uttar Pradesh.

All district officials in the state have been directed to ensure that religious programmes should be held indoors, and no person should be allowed to block roads.

Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad and Special Director General of Police (SDGP) Prashant Kumar have issued directives in this regard to all field officers such as ADGs, Inspector Generals (IG), Deputy IGs, district police chiefs, Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates (DMs) during a virtual review meeting, said an official note.

    MS Education Academy

Prasad has asked that all officers in the field should ensure that religious programmes take place at their designated places only.

“Under no circumstances should any religious event be held by obstructing the road and traffic. In the past, we have been able to do this through proper communication and coordination. This year, too, we have to make a similar effort,” he remarked further.

The officials have been asked to remain alert against fake news or information shared on social media that might hurt people’s sentiments, and not allow any religious procession for which prior permission was not taken.

“The safety of citizens is our primary responsibility. Eid-ul-Fitr, Akshaya Tritiya and Parshuram Jayanti may be celebrated on the same day on April 22. In view of the present environment, the police will have to be extra careful,” said Prasad.

Special DGP Prashant Kumar suggested frequent police patrolling to strengthen law and order in the state. “We should keep an eye on suspicious activities. Videography of every important event must be done,” he said and added that notorious elements would be dealt with strictly.

Director General of Police R.K. Vishwakarma also reviewed the preparations for the upcoming festivals by zonal, range and district officers.

Watch: Cow made chief guest for restaurant launch in Uttar Pradesh

    [ad_1]

Usually, when we scroll through our social media feed we see pictures of politicians, celebrities and other prominent personalities inaugurating an event.

Enter Uttar Pradesh and everything makes sense. Be it a cow made to inaugurate a restaurant.

Yes! Yes! you heard it right. A cow was the special guest of honour that inaugurated an organic dining restaurant named Organic Oasis. The event happened in Lukhnow.

    MS Education Academy

Interestingly, the restaurant is owned by a former senior police officer by the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Singh. Singh “invited a desi cow” for the inauguration ceremony.

In a video shared by ANI, the special guest cow adorned in a vibrant yellow outfit is seen taken to the restaurant’s kitchen where it is made to eat.

Singh maintains that a healthy body is vital for good sustainable life. “Unfortunately, one gets food of produce laced with chemical fertilizers and pesticides. I think this will be the first such restaurant in India that will have its own production, control and processing. People will feel the difference in food after having and demand it,” the former police officer said.

Located at the Shusant Gold City at Millennium adjacent to Lulu Mall, Organic Oasis promises to utilise raw food materials manufactured fresh from the farmlands.

According to Singh, the cow is a big economic source. “I would always prefer gau mata as the guest of honour to my restaurant,” he said.

At present, there is only one government Sanskrit secondary and one government Sanskrit degree college that are operating in the entire state.

After getting an in-principle consent from the state government, the officials of the state directorate of education have formally requested for the allocation of funds towards the construction of these new Sanskrit schools, said a state government spokesman.

The state government had made a provision of Rs 100 crore in the 2023-24 budget.

Meanwhile, it is also gearing up to open Government Sanskrit Secondary Schools of intermediate level in another five districts of Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot and Mathura, which are being developed as the key religious centres.

  • Uttar Pradesh forest officials soften stand on Arif-sarus issue

Uttar Pradesh forest officials soften stand on Arif-sarus issue

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: After serving a legal notice to Mohd Arif for ‘violating the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 (amended)’ by keeping a sarus with him for a year, senior forest officials in Uttar Pradesh seem to be having second thoughts on the issue.

Authorities have summoned Arif, who looked after the bird for a year, to explain his side at the office of the assistant conservator of forest in Gauriganj (Amethi) on April 2.

A senior forest official said, “The gesture of rescuing the bird will be considered while evaluating the merits of the case.

“Arif saved the life of the sarus. This gesture matters a lot even when he has been serviced notice that seeks explanation from him.”

According to the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 (amended), one cannot keep any wild animals with them.

“Arif rescued the sarus and treated it too. His only mistake is that he did not inform the forest staff. Whether one finds an injured human or a wild animal, you must report to the authorities,” said the official.

He further explained, “Birds contract diseases if they live with humans. In 15 days, an observation will be made to check if the bird is sick or ready to fly free. If all goes well, the bird will be set free in a sanctuary so that it could mate and live in its natural habitat.”

Meanwhile, D.N. Singh, divisional forest officer Amethi, said, “We have not broken the friendship between Arif and the bird. Sarus live in pairs but this one was alone and therefore, it is our responsibility to place the bird in its natural habitat so that it could lead a normal life.”

Arif told reporters that he never confined the bird.

“I found the bird injured and hence, gave it treatment and food. After the treatment, it kept coming back to me but I never kept it as a pet. It roamed freely for the entire day in the fields. Is it my mistake if the bird came to me for its food?” said Arif.

Arif found the injured bird in February 2022. He helped the sarus recover and soon, they developed a rare camaraderie.

Last month, the videos of the bird and Arif went viral on social media platforms.
