Twitter to soon let users adjust algorithm: Musk

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Saturday said that the micro-blogging platform will provide users the ability to adjust the algorithm to their “closer match”, in the “coming months”.

Musk tweeted: “If many people who you follow or like also follow me, it is highly probable that the algorithm will recommend my tweets. It’s not super sophisticated.”

“In coming months, we will offer the ability to adjust the algorithm to closer match what is most compelling to you.”

Several users expressed their thoughts on Musk’s post.

When one user commented, “It’s ridiculous that the Twitter algorithm recommends me content from the accounts I follow.”

Musk replied, “The algorithm needs and will get major upgrades. We will still publish it later this month, but please expect to see many bugs & silly logic! What matters is showing users compelling content. We’re doing better than before (I think). User-minutes are up >10 per cent from last year.”

Meanwhile, in a tweet on Friday, Musk said, “Several major media sources incorrectly reported that my Tweets were boosted above normal levels earlier this week.”

“A review of my Tweet likes and views over the past 6 months, especially as a ratio of followers, shows this to be false.

We did have a bug that briefly caused replies to have the same prominence as primary Tweets, but that has now been fixed.”

To this, one user said, “Media has been doing this since ages now!”
“True, but, on the plus side, their constant reporting about me on Twitter has driven usage to record levels,” Musk replied.

Twitter CEO later posted, “A big part of the problem is that journalists used to choose their career to pursue truth, but in recent years many have entered journalism to be activists.”

WhatsApp rolling out feature to let users share up to 100 media on iOS beta

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new feature which will allow users to share up to 100 media within the chats, on iOS beta.

With the new feature, beta users can now select up to 100 media in the media picker within the application, which was earlier limited to only 30, reports WABetaInfo.

This feature is useful as users will finally be able to share entire albums, making it easier to share memories and moments.

The ability to share up to 100 media within the chats is available for some beta testers after installing the latest update of WhatsApp beta for iOS from TestFlight app and is expected to roll out to more people over the coming days, the report said.

Last week, it was reported that the messaging platform was rolling out this feature on Android beta.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp was reportedly rolling out longer group subjects and descriptions on iOS beta, making it easier for users to better describe groups.

Google Meet users can now include captions in meeting recordings

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Tech giant Google is rolling out a new feature to its video-communication service ‘Google Meet’, which will allow users to include captions in a meeting recording.

The new feature will help make meeting recordings more useful and accessible for meeting participants, the tech giant said in a Workspace Updates blogpost.

To record a meeting, the feature must be enabled by the admin and the user has to be a meeting host and be a part of the host’s organisation.

However, if the host management is on, users will need to be a meeting co-host to access the new feature.

Moreover, the user must be promoted to a co-host to use the feature if they are outside the meeting hosts’ organisation, the company said.

Meanwhile, last month, the tech giant had announced that it is rolling out a new feature to ‘Google Meet’ which will allow users to share access to the content they are presenting in a meeting with attendees, including everyone on the Calendar guest list.

The feature is helpful because by allowing sharing directly from Meet, users can easily share presented content without having to switch to another window to grant access.

Binance allegations false and misleading, WazirX tells users

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Indian cryptocurrency exchange WazirX has said that allegations levied by global crypto company Binance are false and misleading.

In a statement, Nischal Shetty-run WazieX said that its users do not have to be concerned about Binance’s announcement.

“We have made arrangements to ensure that WazirX’s digital assets are stored in accordance with industry-leading standards. Users can continue to trade, deposit, and withdraw their funds as usual,” the company said.

Binance late last month sent WazirX an ultimatum demanding that the exchange remove what it referred to as a “false and misleading narrative” or stop utilising its crypto wallets by February 3.

However, Binance later said in a blog post that it was making an exception and inviting WazirX to “work out arrangements to withdraw any remaining assets in the relevant accounts.”

WazirX replied, saying it had begun the process of transferring assets to wallets, and expected the process to be completed “within the next few hours.”

WazirX now says the allegations made by Binance in their blog are false and unsubstantiated.

“As far as Binance’s actions are concerned, we are taking the necessary steps to seek recourse and protect our legal rights,” it added.

The tussle first erupted in August last year after Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids on WazirX’s Singapore-based parent company Zanmai Lab and Binance completely disowning the Shetty-run platform.

On November 21, 2019, Binance said it had “acquired” WazirX.

Amid the controversy, Zanmai Lab had said in a statement that “WazirX is a platform co-operated by Zanmai Labs Pvt. Ltd. (Zanmai Labs) and Binance”.

After the ED raids on Zanmai Labs, Binance first disowned WazirX, and then said that it is removing the off-chain fund transfer channel between WazirX and Binance.

Changpeng Zhao, founder and CEO of Binance, had said in a tweet thread that the company “does not own any equity in Zanmai Labs, the entity operating WazirX and established by the original founders”.

In a tweet on Friday, Musk said: “Starting today, Twitter will share ad revenue with creators for ads that appear in their reply threads. To be eligible, the account must be a subscriber to Twitter Blue Verified.”

Several users expressed their thoughts on Musk’s post.

While one user asked, “what will the Twitter/Creator revenue split look like?”, another commented, “how is this going to look logistically? An ad monetization dashboard for creators?”

The updated page also mentioned that subscribers can upload videos up to 60 minutes long from around the web at 1080p resolution and 2GB in file size, but also all videos must comply with the company’s rules.

  • Samsung smartphone users under high risk, India government issues warning – Kashmir News

    [ad_1]

Samsung Galaxy smartphones have dominated the smartphone market For quite some time. Samsung Galaxy smartphones are used by millions of people for everyday conversations. As phones get smarter, they are not just used for calls and messages. Smartphones store some of our most sensitive and private information because they are also used for photography, online meetings, banking, and other activities.

The Korean tech giant periodically releases security updates for its apps and devices to safeguard such data. Despite Samsung’s recommendation that users use the most recent version of their apps for a more secure and feature-rich experience, some users choose to use older versions for convenience, but it’s important to note that older versions of apps are easier to exploit. The Indian government has issued a warning to Samsung Galaxy users following the discovery of one such flaw in the app.

According to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), which is part of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. A vulnerability in the Samsung Galaxy Store app has been discovered, This vulnerability could allow a local attacker to install an unwanted app or execute arbitrary code on the phone being targeted. Users of Samsung Galaxy smartphones with Samsung Galaxy Store app versions prior to 4.5.49.8 will be affected by the vulnerability.

according to CERT-In, This vulnerability exists in the Samsung Galaxy Store app, as a result of an exported activity flow that does not safeguard incoming intents. A specially crafted request could be sent by a local attacker to take advantage of this vulnerability. A local attacker could install applications from the Galaxy App Store on the targeted device without the user’s knowledge if this vulnerability is successfully exploited.

If you tap a malicious hyperlink in Google Chrome or a malicious application that is already installed, an attacker can also take advantage of the vulnerability. Through Samsung’s URL filter, a local attacker can launch a webview to a domain controlled by the attacker.

Installing the most recent version of the Samsung Galaxy Store app right away will help you avoid being conned.

  • Netflix, Bumble partner to help users bond over TV shows

Netflix, Bumble partner to help users bond over TV shows

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Streaming giant Netflix and popular women-first dating app Bumble have teamed up to help users connect over popular TV shows.

With the release of its weekly in-app question game “Netflix Nights In”, which asks users questions about a popular Netflix show, Bumble is putting the phrase “Netflix and Chill?” to the test, reports TechCrunch.

In the new question game, users can compete against one another to see who can correctly answer every question.

A recent Bumble survey found that about 78 per cent of users believe it is simpler to talk to matches when they have similar interests in TV and movies.

Moreover, 72 per cent of survey participants admitted that they discuss movies and television shows when out on a date.

The “Netflix Nights In” will start on January 30 and end on March 13.

The question game will be available to Bumble users in the US, Canada and the UK.

‘Emily in Paris’, ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Squid Game’, ‘Selling Sunset’, ‘Love Is Blind’ and ‘Outer Banks’ are just a few of the shows that will be featured in each Monday’s quiz questions.

Correct answers to each question will not be revealed until the user and their match vote on it.

Each round will also include celebrities from the corresponding show, such as Amanza Smith from ‘Selling Sunset’, Alexa Lemieux from ‘Love Is Blind’ and Ashley Park from ‘Emily in Paris’.

“When we’re getting to know someone, it’s human nature to try and find common interests. It gives you something to bond over and go beyond surface-level conversation,” Magno Herran, vice president of Marketing Partnerships at Netflix, said in a statement.

“We love seeing people connect over Netflix shows and films and create their own communities around them. And with this partnership, we wanted to give people a way to find someone who gets them based on what they watch while leaning into ‘if you know you know’ Netflix references that have helped to spark many conversations,” Herran added.
