WhatsApp’s new update gives admins more control over who can join group

New Delhi: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced two new updates for “groups” on WhatsApp — new controls for admins, and easily see groups in common.
The new features which will start rolling out globally over the coming weeks, come just a few months after WhatsApp launched Communities, a feature that offers larger, more structured discussion groups.
“Last year, we rolled out Communities to help people get the most out of their groups on WhatsApp. Since launching, we’ve wanted to build even more tools for admins and users alike. Today we’re excited to roll out a few new changes we’ve made to make groups more manageable for admins and easier to navigate for everyone,” the company said.
It has built a tool that gives admins the ability to decide who is able to join a group, giving admins more control over their group privacy.
“When an admin chooses to share their group’s invite link or make their group joinable in a community, they now have more control over who can join,” the company said.
With the growth of Communities and their larger groups, the tech giant said it wants to make it easy to know which groups you have in common with someone.
“Whether you’re trying to remember the name of a group you know you share with someone or you want to see the groups you’re both in, you can now easily search a contact’s name to see your groups in common.”

LPG Price Hike: Oil companies have increased the prices of gas, giving a big blow to the consumers. The prices of both commercial and domestic gas cylinders have increased.
Domestic gas prices have increased after eight months. The rate of domestic cylinder has been increased by Rs 50, while the price of commercial cylinder has increased by more than Rs 350.
Let us tell you that there was no increase in the price of gas last month. Commercial gas cylinders were getting cheaper in recent months. As far as LPG prices are concerned, domestic LPG cylinder prices were stable since 6 July 2022. Now after two months, the price of commercial gas cylinder has increased by Rs 350 at once.
What is the new price of gas cylinder
LPG Cylinder New Rate After the price hike, commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi will be available for Rs 2119.5 instead of Rs 1769. Its price in Kolkata has increased from Rs 1870 to Rs 2221.5 now. Gas cylinder in Mumbai has increased from Rs 1721 to Rs 2071.50 now. In Chennai, the cylinder will now be available for Rs 2268, earlier it was Rs 1917.

New rate of domestic cylinder
In Delhi, 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder will be available for Rs 1103 instead of Rs 1053 from today. Its price in Mumbai will be Rs 1102.5 instead of Rs 1052.50. If we talk about Kolkata, instead of 1079, now the cylinder will come in 1129 rupees. In Chennai it will be available for Rs 1118.5 instead of Rs 1068.50.

Domestic LPG prices vary from state to state due to local taxes. Retail fuel sellers revise LPG cylinder prices at the beginning of every month. The government provides 14.2 kg cylinders to eligible families at subsidized rates. Under the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme, consumers get LPG cylinders at a subsidized rate. However, the subsidy depends on several factors like foreign exchange rates, crude oil prices.

If the basic salary of any employee is Rs 30,000 per month, then his salary will increase by Rs 1200 every month, according to this the annual gross salary will increase by Rs 14,400. If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 2.50 lakh per month, then his The annual salary will increase by Rs 1,20,000.
DA increases twice a year
Actually, the dearness allowance of central employees and pensioners increases twice a year, depending on the AICPI data released by the Labor Ministry. The Modi government increases the DA of employees every six months, Dearness Allowance (DA) is a part of the salary structure of government employees.
In the last half year, the government had increased the DA of central employees by four per cent, after which the DA of the employees had increased from 34 per cent to 38 per cent. Big Update For PHH/AAY Category: 70% ‘bogus’ Ration Cards Cancelled – Know Details – Kashmir News

Bandipora, Mar 18 : Around Seventy percent of ‘non-deserving’ households, who were holding AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana), PHH (Priority Households) ration cards have been weeded out from the particular categories in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, officials said on Saturday.
Assistant Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Bandipora, Bilal Ahmad told GNS that the department has canceled around 70% of the PHH & AAY bogus ration cards in the district while the exercise to find out the authenticity of remaining 30% is in full swing.
He said that among the canceled ration cards, mostly were on the names of government employees, pensioners and other financially sound households.
He appealed the ‘ineligible’ PHH and AAY card, whose economic status has increased over the time to surrender their ration cards in the concerned Tehsil Supply Office within 15 days, adding the department will initiate legal action after the lapse of the given time period.
“Since the implementation of NFSA Act 2013 in 2016, two categories of households viz AAY & PHH identified on the basis of poorest of poor were registered for receiving ration on highly subsidized rates,” reads an order issued by AD Foods Bandipora.
“Since the implementation of NFSA Act 2013 more than seven (07) years have passed and reportedly the economic status of many families have improved”, it reads adding “a number of representations are being received by this office on daily basis for adjusting them under AAY/PHH.”
“Whereas, frequent inputs have been received from various quarters that some in-eligible/non deserving households are still getting benefits of AAY/PHH Ration Cards which is quite contrary to the guidelines and is sheer injustice to those who are needy and deserving and as reported by field functionaries many families whose economic status has improved by way of Govt. Employment, Business and other sources are not cooperating with them for conversion of their Ration Cards from PHH/AAY to NPHH/EX”, reads the order.

“Now in view of above (observations) and through the medium of this circular, all the Households whose economic status has improved and are still having AAY/PHH Ration Cards are hereby informed to surrender their AAY/PHH Ration Cards to their concerned Tehsil Supply Office within fifteen days (15) falling which action under norms shall be initiated forthwith,” the order added. Los Angeles: ‘Let Me Love You’ hitmaker Justin Bieber has shared an update on his recovery after announcing that he was experiencing facial paralysis due to Ramsay Hunt syndrome last year.
The singer, 29, shared in June last year that he had the condition – which is understood to affect facial nerves – and told fans that he had “full paralysis” on one side of his face, reports ‘Mirror.co.uk’.
Since the announcement, Justin has performed on some occasions but cancelled a number of tour dates last year and has recently cancelled the remainder of his tour. He now appears to have provided fans with an update on his recovery from the condition — which he had previously said had left him unable to smile on one side of his face.
Justin took to his Instagram Story recently and shared a video of himself. It showed the performer sitting in a hoodie alongside the caption: “Wait for it…”
‘Mirror.co.uk’ further states that the Grammy Award winner seems to smile from ear-to-ear at the end of the recently uploaded clip, suggesting that he has regained mobility in his face. The video — which was shared with his fans on the platform — had featured the song ‘Ice T’ by singer-songwriter Tems.
Justin announced that he had Ramsay Hunt syndrome last year. He had shared a video on the platform in which he had appeared unable to move one side of his face.

WhatsApp update: iOS users can now extract text from images

San Francisco: Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is widely rolling out the ‘Text detection’ feature on iOS which allows users to extract text right out of an image.
The company is rolling out this feature to everyone after installing the latest WhatsApp for iOS 23.5.77 update, reports WABetaInfo.
When users open an image which contains text, they will see a new button that allows them to copy text from the image.
For privacy reasons, this feature is not compatible with the view once images.
Last month, it was reported that the messaging platform was rolling out a sticker maker tool on iOS, which allows users to convert images into stickers.
Earlier this week, WhatsApp was widely rolling out the ‘voice status updates’ feature on iOS, with which users can record a voice note and share it through Status.
The maximum recording time for a voice note is 30 seconds, and users can also forward voice notes from their chats to status.

Jammu & Kashmir, Mar 15: The bail application of a BSF officer, the main accused in the police sub-inspector recruitment scam case, was again rejected by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Wednesday, the fifth since his arrest by the CBI in the matter in October last year.
Justice Sanjay Dhar, while rejecting the bail application of Border Security Force (BSF) Commandant (Medical) Karnail Singh, said a person, who indulges in facilitating leakage and sale of question papers related to competitive examinations, plays with the career of thousands of young aspirants, and such an act is more heinous than the offence of murder.
The high court rejected Singh’s bail application after hearing both sides, accepting the argument of senior additional advocate general and CBI counsel Monika Kohli that the investigation in the case is still underway.
The court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to complete further probe in the case and file a supplementary charge-sheet, if any, expeditiously, preferably within a period of three months.

The officer was arrested by the agency on October 18 last year for allegedly using touts to get his son the question paper of the police sub-inspector recruitment examination conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) in March.
He was among 24 persons charge-sheeted by the CBI in the case on November 12 last year and it termed him the main accused and the kingpin of the conspiracy.
Justice Dhar, in his 13-page order, did not agree with the petitioner that he was “wrongly and false implicated” in the case and said it has been submitted by the respondent that another FIR related to the question paper leak of the finance accounts assistant examination conducted by the JKSSB has been registered and the role of the petitioner has surfaced.

“Not only this, even the report of the enquiry committee set up by the government is damning against the petitioner (Singh). In the report, it has been noted that the petitioner had managed to induct several candidates in the BSF against financial consideration and that he had advertised secretly that he would help prospective candidates in passing the medical tests,” the court said.
It said the report further records that the petitioner has close links with some high and mighty politicians.
“In the face of the propensity of the petitioner to indulge in similar types of offences, it may not be appropriate to enlarge him on bail at this stage when the investigation relating to the larger conspiracy of question paper leakage of sub-inspector posts is still underway,” Justice Dhar said.
In July last year, the Jammu and Kashmir administration headed by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha cancelled the selection of 1,200 police sub-inspectors, 1,300 junior engineers and 1,000 finance account assistants following allegations of paper leak and malpractices.
“…the charges levelled against the petitioner can by no stretch of imagination be termed as ordinary charges. Economic offences constitute a class apart and need to be visited with a different approach in the matter of bail,” the judge said.
“The economic offence having deep rooted conspiracies and involving huge loss of public funds needs to be viewed seriously and considered as grave offences affecting the economy of the country as a whole and thereby posing serious threat to the financial health of the country,” Justice Dhar said.
The high court also took note of the repeated bail applications moved by the accused over the past five months in the court of chief judicial magistrate, Jammu, additional sessions judge and the high court.
There can be no dispute to the legal position that an accused can maintain a bail application before a superior court once his application for grant of bail by the subordinate court has been rejected without there being any change of circumstances but then the petitioner has not been to persuade this court to take a view different from the one taken earlier, Justice Dhar said.
“I do not find any merit in the bail application (of the accused). The same is dismissed,” the judge said.–(PTI)

Google announces ‘Android 13 QPR3 Beta 1’ update

San Francisco: Tech giant Google has announced that it will release its “Android 13 QPR3 Beta 1” update in the week of March 13.
This update will download automatically for Beta Program members, reports Android Authority.
With this update, the Beta Program users will get the QPR3 before the stable version is rolled out to the public.
The stable version of the update is expected to be released in June this year.
It seems that the users who are enrolled in the Beta Program will not receive the upcoming March QPR2 public stable release, the report said.
So, if they want the stable update, then they will have to opt out of the program.
Recently, the tech giant had highlighted its key initiatives for 2023 which is to make Android and Google Play more safe and secure.
“It’s our top priority to keep Android and Google Play safe for developers to build successful businesses and provide quality apps and games to billions of users around the world,” the tech giant said.
