  • JK Must Unite Against Forces Working To Undermine Its Interests, Says Farooq Abdullah

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Dr Farooq Abdullah, the National Conference (NC) President and Srinagar MP, addressed party members at the Nawa-e-Subha party headquarters in Srinagar on Saturday. He cautioned the public against the efforts of those working to weaken Jammu and Kashmir from within. In attendance were several NC figures, including General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Addl General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal among others.

In a statement issued, Dr. Farooq Abdullah cautioned the functionaries about the forces that are working against the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “It is up to us to understand the consequences of dividing our voices. Any misstep at this juncture would have far-reaching consequences. They do not want the genuine representative voices of J&K to be heard. Having real and representative voices in place makes it more difficult for them to pursue reckless experimentation in the region.”

Dr Farooq called for increasing the party’s outreach to the people and stated, “Our workers should knock on every door and make people aware of the challenges facing the region. The party’s vision and mission must reach every household. We currently see the emergence of political parties and leaders in every corner of Kashmir. However, the political vacuum created by the decisions of August 2019 cannot be filled by such airdropped leaders. Only a representative government can instill faith in the hearts of the people and meet this challenge.” (KNO)

Anurag Thakur mocks Opposition bid to unite against BJP; calls it ‘thugbandhan’

    [ad_1]

Shimla: Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday scoffed at the efforts of opposition parties to defeat the BJP in the run up to the 2024 Lok Sabha election, and termed the alliance a “thugbandan” of parties sunk neck-deep in corruption.

“People are aware that these parties have no common policies or ideology and make false promises to win elections. Such experiments had failed in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls,” he told media here.

The minister’s remarks come on a day Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav held a “historic” meeting with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, and decided to bring together as many opposition parties as possible to take on the saffron party in the next general election.

Thakur further claimed that the Congress and other parties make false promises to win polls and never fulfil them besides indulging in corruption. On the other hand, he said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has always done what it has said.

He also said that India has emerged as the fifth largest economy of the world.

“Today we are number 1 in steel and milk production, number 2 in mobile production and number 3 in the startup ecosystem,” he said.

The Union minister also said that the country’s COVID-19 management, Operation Ganga to ensure safe return of Indians from Ukraine, and immediate aid rushed to quake-hit Syria and Turkiye, speak volumes about the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Referring to Rajasthan, Thakur said corruption and failure of law and order are rampant in the desert state, and even the Congress party wants to get rid of its Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

He added that Congress leader and former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot has yet again raised his voice against Gehlot and “we hope that he would not backtrack this time”.

Samajwadi Party trying to unite ‘Bahujan Samaj’: Akhilesh Yadav

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: A day after BSP chief Mayawati targeted the Samajwadi Party, SP president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said his party is out to unite the ‘Bahujan Samaj’ and warned those who “indirectly help” the BJP in elections.

Mayawati on Sunday charged that the SP was trying to politically use the name of BSP founder Kanshi Ram even though it has a long history of being ungrateful to him as well as B R Ambedkar.

Yadav attended a function in Rae Bareli on Monday after unveiling a statue of Kanshi Ram.

“We are the people who follow the path shown by Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and Manyavar Kanshi Ram. We are not the ones who are out to make a dent in the ‘bahujan samaj’ but we are those who bind them. ‘Netaji’ Mulayam Singh Yadav and Manyavar Kanshi Ram had started a new kind of politics in the country,” the SP chief was quoted as saying in a press statement.

The SP chief said Mulayam Singh Yadav had helped Kanshi Ram win the Lok Sabha seat from Etawah and reach Parliament.

“Today there is a need to unite the society. The path shown by Dr Ram Manohar Lohia in the Samajwadi movement is the same path followed by Bhimrao Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram,” he said.

Referring to the BJP slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”, Yadav said it can be realised only when a caste census is undertaken.

“Without a caste census, social justice and ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is not possible. With the kind of decisions the BJP is taking, the backwards, Dalits and the poor will not be counted. BJP is handing over everything in private hands and after privatisation, how will backwards, Dalits get the rights given to them in the Constitution,” he asked.

Saying that this fight is long, Yadav said “we tried , also got into an alliance with BSP and it reached ten from zero. Today all the big leaders of BSP are in Samajwadi Party.”

“BJP contests elections by taking support of others and so, one has to be careful of the BJP and those who indirectly help the BJP,” he said.

‘Bahujan Samaj’ usually refers to Dalits and Other Backward Classes.

  • Nitish Kumar appeals to Rajput community to unite in favour of JD-U

Nitish Kumar appeals to Rajput community to unite in favour of JD-U

    [ad_1]

Patna: Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday appealed to the people of Rajput community to become united in favour of his JD-U.

He made the appeal at an event titled ‘Swabhiman Diwas’, organised on the death anniversary of Maharana Pratap, by his party at the Milar high school ground here. The upper caste Rajputs are considered core voters of the BJP and Nitish Kumar is seeking to make inroads in the community. He is also challenging ally RJD which is claiming to be “A to Z” party, rather than just depending on its core Muslim and Yadav supporters.

The JD-U has welcomed the guests in a grand style offering chicken and rice apart from other foods for them.

During the occasion, over 50,000 people of the Rajput community assembled at the place from across the state. During the occasion, they demanded the release of Bahubali leader Anand Mohan who is serving a life term in Saharsa jail for murder of then Gopalganj DM G. Krishnayya.

Reacting to the demand, Nitish Kumar, from the stage, informed them that he has been making an effort in this regard and Anand Mohan’s wife Lovely Anand is well aware of this. He asked them to contact her about it.

“We are giving respect to the people of the Rajput community since Samata Party. We have sent many Rajput leaders to Vidhan Parishad and Rajya Sabha apart from giving tickets for Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. We have recently established the statue of Maharana Pratap in the heart of the city,” Nitish Kumar said.

Besides Nitish Kumar, every JD-U leader including Lalan Singh, Vashistha Narayan Singh, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Ashok Chaudhary, Sanjay Jha, Sumit Singh, Lesi Singh, Neeraj Kumar and many other leaders were present in the event.

The event was organised by JD-U MLC Sanjay Singh, who demanded a film city in the name of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in Bihar and a medical college in the name of Maharana Pratap.
