Saudi: Kaaba undergoes maintenance ahead of last ten days of Ramzan

Riyadh: Periodic maintenance of the holy Kaaba and the perfuming of its Kiswah was carried out on Monday ahead of the last ten days of Ramzan, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The periodic maintenance process was carried out with the participation of the Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Dr Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais said that the Saudi leadership is keen to take care of the holy Kaaba because of its Islamic importance.

He added that the Presidency uses the finest types of perfumes to fragrance the Kaaba and the finest types of silk to make its Kiswah.
The last ten days of the holy month begin on Tuesday and Muslims intensify their worship during this period in search of Laylat Al-Qadr, the holiest night in the Islamic calendar.
Laylat Al-Qadr marks the night on which the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad and is believed to have occurred on one of the last ten nights of Ramzan, although the exact night is not clear.

Exen MID Shadipora Alleges Manhandling By 2 Subordinates, Undergoes Protest Leave

Bandipora, Apr 8: An Executive Engineer of Mechanical Circle & I&FC Department has went on a protest leave over alleged manhandling by two of his subordinates here on Saturday.
Credible sources told GNS that the incumbent Executive Engineer, MID, Shadipora, Gayas-Ud-Din has already shot a letter to the Superintending Engineer alleging manhandling by two his subordinates namely Assistant Executive Engineer Sumbal, Asif Ali & AE Reyaz Ahmad Bhat.
“During the course of discussion regarding the installation of drought pump at Zalpora drought. AEE Sumbal Asif Ali and AE Sumbal Riyaz Ahmad Bhat suddenly mishandled (read manhandled) with me without any provocation”, reads contents of the letter as per sources.
“As already communicated the AEE concerned is very arrogant and mischievous. Also number of service books which were lying on my table have been damaged by these two officers. In light of above there is no option left with undersigned to proceed on protest leave w.e.f 08-04-2023. Until and unless the AEE Sumbal Asif Ali and AE Riyaz Ahmad Bhat will not be punished I will not be in a position to perform my duties,” the letter reads.
“Besides, Chief Engineer, Deputy Commissioner & SDM concerned, a copy of letter has been sent to SHO police station Sumbal alleging off & on harrasment & misbehavior by the AEE in-question & declaring the later as a threat to the life of former.”
When contacted, Exen Gayas-Ud-Din told GNS that the duo besides manhandling him, have also broken the furniture & damaged some service books of employees.
He confirmed that he has proceeded on a protest leave with an intimation to all the concerned higher officials.
Meanwhile despite repeated attempts, AEE Asif Ali did not responded to any calls from this reporter. (GNS)

Damaged In Floods, 700-Year-Old Temple Undergoes Renovation In Srinagar

SRINAGAR: In a bid to renovate the seven-century-old Mangleshwar Bhairav Temple at Baba Demb area, the authorities have started the renovation work on the project.
The work is expected to be completed by next month and the estimated cost of the project is around Rs 1.62 core.
Executive Engineer Circular Road Project, Roads and Building department said that the work was assigned to them through the archaeological department following which a DPR was framed to renovate the 700-year-old temple.
He said that the temple was damaged in 2014 floods, adding that the plan to renovate the temple was executed while taking local Hindu community members on board. He added that the work will be completed in three phases.
Rs 64 lakhs have been spent in the first phase while the guard rooms have come up at the cost of Rs 25 lakh and also Rs 80 lakhs are being spent to construct ghats, he said.
He added that during the execution of work, they faced hardships while transporting the material to the temple through water transport, but everything has been done smoothly.
The officer further stated that the work on the project will be completed by the month of May. (KNO)
