  • Ahead of Ramzan, UAE temporarily hikes prices of eggs, poultry products

Ahead of Ramzan, UAE temporarily hikes prices of eggs, poultry products

    [ad_1]

Abu Dhabi: With Ramzan around the corner, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a temporary increase in the prices of eggs and poultry products by a maximum of 13 percent, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Economy (MoE) approved the decision and the prices would be reviewed in six months’ time from now.

The hike is based on a ministerial resolution issued on March 6, after several companies requested it.

The ministry conducted its analytical study to find a benchmark range for the increased cost of eggs in the UAE.

According to the ministry study, a 13 to 20 percent increase would be reasonable.

The ministry said the temporary price hike was adopted as part of efforts to balance the needs of the commercial sector and consumers as well as maintain food security in the markets.

This increase will help protect egg and chicken companies and farms from global inflation and high production costs, as well as ensure that prices in the markets remain stable and reasonable.

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the provision of 3 million dollars (Rs 24,74,71,050) support for the reconstruction of the Palestinian town of Huwara in the West Bank and those affected by the recent events, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The UAE support came under the directives of the President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to be implemented by the Abu Dhabi Municipality and Transport Department in cooperation with the UAE-Palestinian Friendship Club.

This initiative comes “within the framework of the humanitarian efforts made by the UAE to support the brotherly Palestinian people.”

The move comes after Israeli media reports stated that the UAE had halted its military purchases from Israel amid the country’s political turmoil.

The UAE concluded diplomatic relations with Israel in the summer of 2020 through the Abraham Treaty, which was mediated by the United States (US).

Going back a little on February 26, 2023, the Palestinian village of Huwara was subjected to acts of vandalism, burning, and destruction of property by settlers who attacked the town, in addition to the killing of a Palestinian, after two settlers were killed in a commando shooting near the town.

UAE warns against hiring domestic help from unverified social media ads

    [ad_1]

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has warned against hiring domestic help from unapproved agencies or through advertisements on social media.

In this regard, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) on Tuesday issued a advisory on Twitter.

“MoHRE calls on employers, UAE nationals and residents to deal with MoHRE-approved domestic worker recruitment agencies to employ workers and avoid dealing with social media pages that promote illegal employment,” MoHRE tweeted.

The advice comes just before the start of the holy month of Ramzan, when demand for domestic help services usually increases.

“Unreliable pages and accounts on social media start promoting this kind of employment to attract those looking to hire domestic workers,” the ministry adds.

Under the UAE’s new domestic help law— which came into force on December 15, 2022 – only licensed agencies are allowed to provide domestic help services.
