Mumbai: T-Series Productions and Retrophiles’s upcoming mythological film ‘Adipurush’ which is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana has landed into controversy before its release. Helmed by Om Raut, the film stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan along with Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage in supporting roles. The trailer of the movie was released yesterday on the 9th of May.

Moments after the release of the trailer of the movie, various orthodox Hindu organisations and a few politicians opposed it. The movie is currently trending on Twitter and some of the netizens are either seeking a ban on the movie or demanding changes.

Expressing his disagreement with the makers of the movie, the head priest of Ram Temple in Ayodhya Satyendra Das said, “The way in which Ravana has been depicted is absolutely wrong and condemnable. Through the media, we demand an immediate ban on the film.”

He further said Om Raut does not show Lord Rama and Hanuman as mentioned in the epic either and hence goes against their dignity.

Satyendra Das is not only the person who seeks ban on the movie but BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj also said that the film makes a mockery of Hindu deities.  He said, “Raavan looks like a Muslim invader in the film while Hanuman`s image has been distorted beyond recognition which is highly condemnable. Filmmakers think they can get away with any level of cinematic liberty. This cannot be permitted.”

Apart from priests and politicians, netizens too slammed the makers of the movie. One of the Twitter user wrote, ” They have turned the chapter of Ramayana upside down and shown the form of Hanuman and Ram in such a bad way..#BoycottAdipurush.” ”Hanuman ji ‘s looks in  Adipurush looks more like designed by Abdul. intentionally make bad movies related to our dharma so that they fail at the box office, another user tweeted.

A third user Tweeted, ”I will not watch this movie, none from my family and friends will watch this mockery of Shri Ram, Shri Sita and Shri Hanuman. #BoycottAdipurush.”

Well, it seems that the movie may fall prey to the Boycott trend. What is your opinion about the movie, do let us know in the comments section and check out the more tweets below.

Instagram Reels adds dedicated trends section for creators

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Meta-owned Instagram has announced new features on its short-video making app to empower creators.

The social network has added a dedicated destination for trending audio and hashtags, two new metrics to Reels insights and brought gifts on Reels to more countries.

Creators will now be able to see what the top trending topics and hashtags are on Reels.

    MS Education Academy

“We’re making it easier for you to edit your reels on Instagram by bringing together video clips, audio, stickers, and text on a unified editing screen,” said Meta.

This makes it easier to align and time elements of your reel to the right moments in a more visual way.

This feature is available globally, across both iOS and Android devices.

The two new metrics being added on Reels are total watch time and average watch time.

“Total watch time captures the total amount of time your reel was played, including any time spent replaying the reel. Average watch time captures the average amount of time spent playing your reel, calculated by dividing watch time with the number of total plays,” explained the company.

For example if your average watch time is 17 seconds, out of everyone who watched your Reel they watched an average of 17 seconds.

This will help creators better understand where people are being engaged or where you may need to create a stronger hook to have viewers stay longer.

“We’re also adding a new way to see how your reels are contributing to your growth. You’ll now receive a notification with new followers from your reels,” the company mentioned.

The company is also adding a new feature to show creators which fans have sent them a gift, so they can recognise their supporters.

Hyderabad: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Hyderabad followed by a visit to Tamil Nadu in order to launch infrastructure projects along with a public meeting in Secunderabad organised by the state BJP, #GoBackFascistModi trended on Twitter on Saturday.

These tweets mostly emanated from Tamil Nadu where a tussle is underway between the BJP led centre and the DMK led state government just like the tussle between the BRS and the BJP in Telangana.

    In Hyderabad

As per the itinerary, Modi will reach Begumpet Airport at 11.30 a.m. and then head to Secunderabad Railway Station to flag off the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express. The new train is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities by almost three and a half hours and will be particularly beneficial for pilgrims.

After the flag-off ceremony, the Prime Minister will attend a public meeting at Parade Grounds, where he will lay the foundation stone for new blocks at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bibinagar. The revamped station will have world-class amenities and an aesthetically designed iconic building. It will feature a double-level spacious roof plaza with all passenger amenities in one place, as well as multimodal connectivity for seamless transfer of passengers from rail to other modes of transport.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will flag off 13 new Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS) services in the suburban section of Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin city region, providing commuters with a fast, convenient, and comfortable travel option. He will also dedicate to the nation the doubling and electrification of the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar project, stretching over 85 km, completed at a cost of nearly Rs 1,410 crore. The project will provide seamless connectivity and assist in enhancing the average speed of trains.

During the program, he will also lay the foundation stone for five National Highway projects worth more than Rs 7,850 crore. These road projects will strengthen the road connectivity of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

  • Mobile World Congress: Innovations and trends from the MWC 2023

Mobile World Congress: Innovations and trends from the MWC 2023

    [ad_1]

Dhe Sunday before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona is anything but a day of rest. A colleague used to say: “Then the drops sucked!” For years the candy came from Samsung, which on Sunday evening presented its new S series beyond the exhibition center with the attention of the MWC audience and showed with its flagship Android competition where the hammer hangs. That was many years ago. At some point, the Koreans decided to hold their annual event independently of the MWC.

Samsung’s decision not to use the MWC as a presentation venue gave another manufacturer the opportunity to draw the spotlight. Huawei presented its new P series, the Chinese flagship, with a lot of fanfare for several years. Then came Trump and Corona. The former US President ensured that Huawei hardly sold any smartphones in Europe because the company was forbidden to run Google services on the device. The pandemic caused the MWC to be canceled twice and there was little going on in Barcelona in 2022.

China’s brands present themselves with self-confidence

Now the Mobile World Congress is back in (almost) old strength and so are the Chinese. Xiaomi took over the Sunday and presented its new flagship in the same hall as Samsung did back then. The claim to technological market leadership, which is conveyed to hundreds of journalists and retailers on stage with many words, speakers, images, videos and devices, is characterized by a similar level of self-confidence as that of Samsung and Huawei at the time. Xiaomi is only 5th in the Chinese market in terms of market share, but 3rd globally behind Apple and Samsung.

The MWC is one of the largest and most important events in the mobile technology industry worldwide. The fair will take place in Barcelona from February 27th to March 2nd, 2023.

Xiaomi’s flagship, which was shown at the MWC, is technically at the forefront. The fact that the 13 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s latest processor unit, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, has a fairly high-resolution display with a size of 6.73 inches and a refresh rate of 120 Hertz and can boast 12 gigabytes of RAM and 256 internal storage, makes it stand out it has not yet become a flagship product because the competition can show similarly demanding properties on their flagships. Once again, it’s the camera that’s trying to outperform the competition.

It depends on the camera: Xiaomi has brought support from Leica on board.

Xiaomi has teamed up with Leica for this. This is not the first time that the traditional German company has tied a smartphone manufacturer to itself with its camera expertise. Leica had its first partnership with Huawei. The collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica has resulted in a camera in the 13 Pro that comes with three optics, each with a sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels. Behind the skin lens, the wide-angle, there is a 1-inch sensor, which sounds promising and is rare. Thanks to its “floating” technology, the telephoto lens can also do something that other smartphone cameras cannot. It’s also good for macro shots, which looked impressive the first time you tried it.

Samsung and Huawei have shown the way

It remains to be seen whether the price of 1300 euros is not too high for the top model from a Chinese company that is not yet well known in Germany. By the way, for 1000 euros there is the Xiaomi 13, with a slightly less innovative camera and a smaller screen. And with the Lite for 500 euros, Xiaomi moves into the middle class. There is something for everyone. Just like Samsung today and then Huawei.

  • Markets fall in initial trade on weak global trends

Markets fall in initial trade on weak global trends

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Stock market benchmark indices fell in initial trade on Wednesday tracking weak global trends ahead of the release of minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting.

The BSE Sensex fell 329.12 points to 60,343.60 after a weak beginning. The NSE Nifty declined 97.3 points to 17,729.40.

From the Sensex pack, IndusInd Bank, Wipro, UltraTech Cement, Power Grid, Bajaj Finserv, HCL Technologies, Tata Motors, Infosys, NTPC and Bajaj Finance were the major laggards.

Maruti and Larsen & Toubro were the winners.

In Asian markets, South Korea, Japan, China and Hong Kong were trading lower.

The US markets had ended significantly lower on Tuesday.

“US stocks tumbled led by growing concerns that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates higher for longer,” said Mitul Shah, Head of Research Institutional Desk, Reliance Securities Ltd.

The BSE benchmark had edged down 18.82 points or 0.03 per cent to settle at 60,672.72 on Tuesday. The Nifty slipped 17.90 points or 0.1 per cent to end at 17,826.70.

International oil benchmark Brent crude declined 1.21 per cent to USD 83.01 per barrel.

“The US macro data continues to dictate equity markets globally. The US markets reacted sharply negatively to the series of economic data indicating that the process of disinflation is slow and, therefore, the Fed will have to continue raising rates longer than expected earlier.

“This pushed up the 10-year bond yield sharply to 3.95 per cent and stocks fell sharply. These negative US equity market trends are impacting equity markets everywhere and India cannot be an exception to this trend at least in the near-term,” said V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services.

Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) bought shares worth Rs 525.80 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data.

  • ‘Adaniscam’ trends on Twitter, questions on deposits in LIC, SBI raised

‘Adaniscam’ trends on Twitter, questions on deposits in LIC, SBI raised

    [ad_1]

Following the outbreak of the Hindenburg report on the Adani group, on Friday, the hashtags ‘Hindenburg Report’, ‘Hindenburg Research’, and ‘Adani scam’ trended on Twitter.

Several Twitter users including members of the opposition raised questions on the union government’s role in the development.

Along with the Adani Group share pummelling on Friday, with the group losing Rs 3.37 lakh crore in aggregate market capitalisation in a single day, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), the single largest non-promoter domestic shareholder in five of the largest Adani Group companies by market capitalisation, lost Rs 16,627 crore due to a drop in the value of its Adani Group holdings.

The value of LIC’s Adani Group assets fell from Rs 72,193 crore on Tuesday to Rs 55,565 crore on Friday, a 22% drop in only two days.

Meanwhile, LIC’s share price declined 3.5 percent during the day on Friday, falling 5.3 percent in the prior two days.

By the time of publishing this story, #Adaniscam garnered 10.4k tweets and #HindenburgResearch garnered 4764 tweets.

    Reactions

Some of India’s top public sector banks stated their exposure to the Adani Group was within the limitations outlined by the Reserve Bank of India despite Friday’s steep decline in shares of group firms and the lenders that have exposure to it. The RBI permits a bank to expose no more than 25 percent of its eligible available capital base to any one group of related entities.

“There is nothing alarming about our Adani exposure and we don’t have any concerns as of now,” SBI chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara said speaking to Reuters.

Khara said the Adani Group hadn’t raised any funding from SBI in the recent past and that the bank would take a ‘prudent call’ on any funding request from them in the near future, reported Reuters.

SBI has reached out to the company for clarification and the board will take any decision on the bank’s exposure to the group only after that, reported Reuters quoting an unnamed official.

An official at the state-run Bank of India said the loans to the Adani group were within permissible limits.

“Our exposure to the Adani Group is below the large exposure framework of the Reserve Bank of India,” Reuters quoted an unnamed executive at the Bank of India as saying.

“Till last month, the Adani Group’s interest payment on loans has been intact.”

Bank executives at two other private lenders said that they were not yet in “panic mode” but being watchful, the report stated.

The LIC is still investing additional money in Adani’s flagship unit despite the fraud allegations. According to a document, the state-controlled life insurer is investing around $37 million as an anchor investor in Adani Enterprises Ltd.’s $2.5 billion new share sale. It would increase its present ownership of 4.23% with the investment.

Adani Power Ltd., Adani Green Energy Ltd., Adani Transmission Ltd., Adani Ports, and Special Economic Zone Ltd., and Adani Enterprises Ltd. make up the Adani Group.

    What is the Hindenburg report?

Hindenburg Research, a well-known short seller in the United States, disclosed short positions in the Adani Group on Wednesday, accusing the conglomerate of the improperly wide use of businesses established in offshore tax havens and expressing worry about excessive debt levels.

The revelation, which came just days before Adani Enterprises’ (ADEL.NS) $2.5 billion share sale, sent Adani group businesses’ shares tumbling.

It also said that seven Adani listed firms had an 85% downside on a fundamental basis because to what it dubbed ‘sky-high valuations’.

The firm published an investigative document titled ‘Adani Group: How The World’s 3rd Richest Man Is Pulling The Largest Con In Corporate History‘ and revealed findings of their two-year investigation presenting evidence that the Rs 17.8 trillion worth Adani group has engaged in a brazen stock manipulation and accounting fraud scheme over the course of decades.

According to the report, Gautam Adani, the Adani Group’s founder, and chairman, has a net worth of about $120 billion, which he has increased by more than $100 billion in the last three years, primarily as a result of stock price growth in the group’s seven most important publicly traded companies, which have increased by an average of 819 percent during that time.

KT Rama Rao had also challenged the central investigative agencies including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Income Tax Department (IT) and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to probe into the Adani enterprise’s ‘scam’.

The challenge comes hours after US’s Hindenburg Research’s investigative document, alleging fraud in Adani Group’s dealings, surfaced.

The Adani Group has said that accounting (or fraud-type assertions) “investigation” by Hindenburg Research are devoid of facts.

Of Adani’s portfolio’s nine publicly listed entities, eight are audited by one of the Big 6.

On leverage or over-leverage issue — 100 of our various companies are rated (these account for nearly 100 percent of our EBITDA), Adani Enterprises said in a stock exchange filing.

On revenue or balance sheet being artificially inflated or managed — out of nine listed companies in Adani portfolio six are subject to specific sector regulatory review for revenue, costs, and capex, Adani Group said.

In relation to governance, four of our large companies are in the top 7 percent of the peer group in Emerging markets or the sector of the world.

On the LAS position do note that overall promoter leverage is less than 4 percent of promoter holding, the group said.

Hindenburg asked 89 questions in total, the following Question by number: 1,2,3 5,6,7 19,20,21, 27,28,29 62,63,64 and 72,74,75,77,78,79 are in relation to Related party transactions, DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) and court cases.

Twenty-one in total cannot be claimed to be the result of any investigation over a two-year period or any such assertion as they were disclosed in the public documents all the way back from 2015 onwards, the group said.

The 21 questions are nothing but Adani Portfolio’s own public disclosure from as far back as 2015, the statement said.
