A teenager who was purportedly making a video for Instagram reels along the railway tracks in Sanathnagar was killed when he was struck by a moving train on Friday.

The victim has been identified by police as Mohd. Sarfaraz, a Madrasa student from Sriram Nagar in Rahmat Nagar.

The event occurred when Sarfaraz, who was apparently engaged on social media, walked to the railway track line with two other pals to make Instagram reels.

Sarfaraz got close to the track and attempted to shoot a video with a speeding MMTS train, according to the Government Railway Police in Hyderabad.

The GRP police filed a case and shifted the body to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.

  • Manchester United keep WSL title bid on track with late win at Aston Villa

Manchester United keep WSL title bid on track with late win at Aston Villa

    [ad_1]

In the best traditions of Fergie-time, substitute Millie Turner headed home the latest possible winning goal to help Manchester United stretch their lead at the top of the Women’s Super League to six points.

The centre-back converted Katie Zelem’s much-disputed free-kick three minutes into added time to keep United’s dreams of a league and FA Cup double alive.

Marc Skinner had reckoned it was good to play ahead of title rivals – on the proviso United won. With Manchester City playing Leicester on Sunday and the Champions League semi-finalists, Chelsea and Arsenal, not in WSL action this weekend, this was United’s opportunity to put down their marker.

They may have played one more game than City – and three more than Chelsea, whom they lead by seven points – but the nature of this United comeback could yet power them to their first top-flight title.

Rachel Daly twice gave Villa the lead with superb finishes in the first half, against the meanest defence in the division, yet it was the shot she crashed against the crossbar at 2-1 early in the second half that will stick in the England player’s craw.

Skinner, the United manager, admitted Villa were the better side, especially in the first half, but invoked the club’s traditions under Sir Alex Ferguson in being able to win right at the death.

“It reinforces that we can do that,” he said. “It reinforces that the great Manchester United men’s teams never gave up until way into … well, it’s called ‘Fergie time’ for a reason, right? For me it shows much more about our mentality and it’s a massive sign of what we can achieve.”

Villa dominated United, especially with crosses into the box in the first half, with Lucy Staniforth particularly productive. Up against her former club, the midfielder’s corner invited Daly to time her run superbly and flash her header into the far corner. It was an outstanding, old-fashioned type of centre-forward’s goal.

Leah Galton equalised after Ona Batlle accelerated down the right flank to deliver such a fine low cross that the winger did not have to break stride to sidefoot in her ninth goal of the season.

United’s kept trying to play out from the back but Villa never gave them time, and Skinner admitted they should have played over the press more. “They were all over us, first half,” he said.

This was a cracking game, the tempo unrelenting. Anna Patten, the Villa centre-back, headed another Staniforth corner against the crossbar and United looked set to lose for only a second time in 19 games.

    skip past newsletter promotion

Yet at the other end, Hannah Hampton made a great reaction save from Galton and, just before half-time, Hayley Ladd was unfortunate to have a goal chalked off after Hampton, running into Galton, was adjudged to have been fouled.

By that stage Daly had moved level top of the WSL scorers with Bunny Shaw on 18. Maz Pacheco crossed low from the left and Daly was allowed enough time to sidefoot an expert low shot into the far corner with her left foot.

She so nearly completed her hat-trick on the hour. After a period of sustained United pressure, Villa counterattacked in devastating fashion. Nobbs played a reverse pass for Kenza Dali to cross for Daly to shoot against the bar.

How United made them pay. Within two minutes, Hannah Blundell crossed from the left wing and Nikita Parris, left unmarked, headed home the equaliser. With Russo heading over and United using all five substitutes, it seemed like their pressure was not going to pay. But then up stepped Turner.

It was a debatable decision for Maz Pacheco’s foul on Vilde Boe Risa. “It’s a tough one to take,” Villa manager, Carla Ward, said. “The lineswoman’s a yard away and there’s 20 seconds left and she says it’s no foul. The ref’s 30 yards away and says it’s a foul. We’ve had some big calls go against us. Something’s got to change. But my players have been absolutely outstanding.”

  • Tyrone Mings keeps Aston Villa on track for Europe with Fulham winner

Tyrone Mings keeps Aston Villa on track for Europe with Fulham winner

    [ad_1]

Seconds after the final whistle Unai Emery marched down the touchline with the demeanour of an office worker clocking off for the day, high‑fived a handful of young, ecstatic Aston Villa supporters and then disappeared down the tunnel. His work at Villa, who extended their unbeaten run to 10 games with victory against Fulham, is akin to something of a magic act.

Since Emery’s first Villa game in November no Premier League team have picked up more wins and only Arsenal, the Premier League leaders, have registered more points. A spectacular finish to a wonderfully lopsided season is in store.

Emi Martínez threw his gloves into the crowd as the Holte End crooned to the beat of Jeff Beck.

Quite where Villa’s journey goes from here with five games to play remains to be seen but their unexpected and extraordinary gallop towards achieving a top‑six finish continues to gather pace. For the first time since 1998 Villa, who now occupy fifth, have won five successive league games at home. Fulham’s season, meanwhile, appears to be petering out after so much early promise. Next up? The visit of the champions Manchester City. And then a trip to Anfield.

The last time these teams met, in October, Villa succumbed to a 3-0 defeat in what proved to be Steven Gerrard’s final game in charge. Tyrone Mings, who grabbed the winner here with a clever backward header from a corner, scored an own goal that night. Villa were woeful and supporters made their anger plain after a loss that left them outside the relegation zone only on goals scored.

Six months on the mood around the club could scarcely be more different. Emery has given Villa’s players a shot in the arm and while his methods have hardly been radical he has the fanbase dreaming of European nights for the first time in 13 years. “We have to be ambitious, realistic and play under pressure,” Emery said afterwards. “I like playing under pressure. If we are playing under pressure, we have something to do. We are candidates. Our commencing matches will be key to get the European positions. Our dreams, they are here.”

Fulham gave Villa an early fright in this contest when Andreas Pereira’s acrobatic effort from Harrison Reed’s cross rattled the side netting inside 21 seconds but the hosts slowly asserted their authority. Ashley Young saw an effort from the edge of the box diverted wide by Reed and Ollie Watkins then led Tosin Adarabioyo into conceding another corner. Fulham dealt with the first set piece but not the second. Mings beat his marker, Tim Ream, to the punch and the Villa centre-back’s back header from John McGinn’s inswinging corner looped in at the far post.

Eight of Villa’s starting lineup here also began that miserable autumn night at Craven Cottage, though this team are almost unrecognisable. Fulham, by contrast, had six survivors from that October contest though Willian, who started the reverse fixture, was injured in the warmup at Villa Park and replaced by Manor Solomon. Harry Wilson, who scored in Fulham’s recent wins against Everton and Leeds, was forced off after 17 minutes and replaced by Bobby Decordova-Reid. Perhaps those changes disrupted Fulham, who struggled to test the returning Martínez.

Marco Silva, hands clasped behind his back and alone with his thoughts, pondered how his toothless Fulham side could find a way back into the game. They offered little in attack without Aleksandar Mitrovic, who still has three games of an eight-match suspension to serve. Silva had seen enough midway through the second half and made a triple substitution, with Carlos Vinícius replacing Pereira, who operated up front alongside Daniel James. The injuries to Willian and Wilson did not help but Silva was reluctant to make excuses. “If you compare with the first game against Villa, when we played at the Cottage [in October], our frontline was completely different and I believe that made a huge impact in our threat that we didn’t show tonight in our attacking line,” the Fulham manager said.

Jacob Ramsey released Watkins through on the Fulham goal but Antonee Robinson did enough to kill Villa’s attack, allowing his goalkeeper, Bernd Leno, to claim the ball.

At the other end the 37-year-old Young, who departed to a standing ovation, cut out a dangerous cross just before it could reach the lurking James at the back post. If, and it is a big if, this in-form Villa side can beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, they could yet muscle in on the conversation for the Champions League places. Gerrard’s largely joyless reign feels a lifetime ago.

Poonch attack: Massive searches underway to track culprits

    [ad_1]

Poonch: Army’s Northern Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi on Sunday said that necessary action is underway against the terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on an army truck in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district that left five soldiers dead.

A massive search operation to track down the terrorists is underway in Bhata Dhurian following the ambush on the army vehicle carrying fruits and other items to a border village for an Iftar that was to be hosted by the Rashtriya Rifles unit on Thursday evening, officials said.

In a tweet on its official handle, the Army’s Northern Command shared Lt Gen Dwivedi’s visit to the Command Hospital in Udhampur and his interaction with the survivor of the terror attack.

    MS Education Academy

“#LtGenUpendraDwivedi #ArmyCdrNC interacted with the survivor of the 20 Apr
23 #Poonch incident at Command Hospital #Udhampur and assured that necessary
action is underway,” read the tweet accompanied by two pictures of the soldier.

The Northern Army Commander on Saturday visited the attack site at Bhata Dhurian, an area that is a preferred infiltration route for terrorists from across the Line of Control because of its topography, dense forest cover and natural caves.

Dwivedi reviewed the security in the border area and the ongoing combing operation to track down the terrorists.

The Northern Command said in a tweet that he was briefed on the actions undertaken so far and exhorted the troops to be steadfast in their resolve.

While the search operation is underway amid a high alert in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, the traffic on Rajouri-Poonch highway was restored on Sunday morning after remaining suspended since Thursday evening, the officials said.

They said traffic was earlier diverted to other routes to secure the highway which connects the twin border districts with Jammu.

The officials said around 14-16 people have been detained for questioning.

“Among those rounded up are two couples from Degwar in Poonch – Iqbal and his wife Mudifa and Salam Din and his wife Rashida,” an official source said, adding further investigation is on.

The slain soldiers were from a Rashtriya Rifles unit deployed for counter-terror operations.

Sources earlier said the attack is suspected to have been carried out by a group of three to four terrorists.

The attackers possibly spent more than a year in Rajouri and Poonch and had adequate knowledge of the terrain, they added.

The Jammu and Kashmir Gaznavi Force (JKGF) is said to be active in the area and its “commander”, Rafiq Ahmed alias Rafiq Nayi, hails from the region.

Currently, three-four terrorist groups are active in the region of Rajouri and Poonch, the sources said.

WB: 1.5K camera traps to be installed to track tiger movement

    [ad_1]

Kolkata: In an attempt to track the movement of Royal Bengal tigers reportedly frequenting the forest zones in north Bengal, the state forest department has decided to install 1,500 camera traps in three reserve forest zones in the region.

The three reserve forest zones are Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary in Darjeeling district, Neora Valley National Park in Kalimpong district and Buxa Tiger Reserve in Alipurduar district.

“The installation of camera traps will also give some idea as to whether these tigers are just frequenting these forest zones in search of prey or a few of them have made these areas their permanent habitat,” a forest official said.

    MS Education Academy

The forest department believes that tigers are frequenting these forest zones due to three developments. The first is of course occasional capture of tigers by the existing camera traps. The second is the occasional spotting of tiger excreta and pugmarks in these areas. The third is the recovery of body parts of large herbivorous animals like bison, which are not possible for the leopards in these zones to kill.

“So, the forest department has decided to install 1,500 additional camera traps in these three reserve forest zones to get more information about the big cats. Unlike the ones already installed there, the new camera traps will all be imported high-end ones,” the forest official said.

The forest department has already outlined an ambitious plan to reestablish the Buxa Tiger Reserve as an ideal abode for Royal Bengal tigers. An agreement has been signed with the Assam government to bring a couple of tigers from there and release them in the Buxa Tiger Reserve to increase the big cat population.

Since 1998, there has been no evidence confirming the presence of tigers in the BTR. But in December 2021, a tiger was spotted in the forest reserve zone. It was, however, later confirmed that the big cat had migrated to the zone temporarily.

Mumbai: Singer Guru Randhawa, who is known for chartbusters like ‘Lahore’, ‘Suit Suit’, ‘Ban Ja Rani’, has once again collaborated with Nikhita Gandhi of ‘Jugnu’ fame after their last hit ‘Naach Meri Rani’. The new track is titled ‘Illusion’ and is inspired by Guru’s memory of his school crush.

The lyrics of the song narrate Guru’s heartfelt recollection of his school crush where he imagines a hypothetical conversation he could never have with her.

Talking about the song, Guru Randhawa said: “The very first thought that struck my mind after hearing about this was – Let’s do it! It was an instant yes for this exceptional collaboration, and I didn’t give it a second thought”.

    MS Education Academy

He further mentioned: “I am extremely happy to be a part of this with my dear friend Nikhita. The track that we have worked on together – Illusion is a wonderful Punjabi post-house record, the first of its kind. So excited for the world to hear it!”

The track is a part of the second episode of MTV’s ‘McDonald’s i’m lovin’ it Live’ and features both Guru and Nikhita.

Talking about her experience with Guru on the show, Nikhita Gandhi shared: “I’m elated to be working with Guru on this eclectic Punjabi track on ‘i’m lovin’ it Live’. As someone who enjoys singing English pop and jazz stuff apart from Bollywood, I was so excited to get on board with this record and fuse Guru’s classic banger Punjabi tunes to my western influences! He’s so much fun to be around and it’s weird that we only met after ‘Naach Meri Rani’ on a flight back from LA. We finally got something to jam on together and ‘i’m lovin’ it’.”

McDonald’s has partnered with Viacom18 for ‘McDonald’s i’m lovin’ it Live’. The episode will air on April 21 at 7 p.m. on MTV.

  • The more BJP attacks me, I know I am on the right track: Rahul Gandhi

The more BJP attacks me, I know I am on the right track: Rahul Gandhi

    [ad_1]

Wayanad: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday launched a no-holds-barred attack on the BJP saying he was not scared or intimidated by the saffron party’s tactics of taking away his MP “tag” or his official residence as the more the ruling dispensation attacks him, the more he knows he is on the right path.

The Gandhi scion lashed out at the BJP over the “attacks” on him, saying that he was disqualified from the Lok Sabha as “the government was very uncomfortable” with the “simple questions” he had asked regarding businessman Gautam Adani and his alleged relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gandhi, who arrived in Kalpetta area of this border district of Kerala for the first time after his disqualification as the MP from Wayanad, said the Congress was not scared by the “intimidation, aggression and nastiness” of the BJP, but rather found it “amusing”.

    MS Education Academy

“It is a fight between two visions of India. The BJP represents one vision and we represent another and we (Congress) are not scared of your (BJP) intimidation, your aggression, your nastiness. In fact, we find it quite amusing,” the Gandhi scion said at a roadshow organised by UDF.

His arrival, along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in Kalpetta received a rousing welcome from thousands of people, including UDF leaders, workers and supporters, who thronged the roadside along the route taken by him, atop a truck, to the venue of the roadshow called ‘Satyameva Jayate’.

Speaking at the venue before a crowd where thousands were gathered, Gandhi said a Member of Parliament was just a “tag” or a post and taking that away from him will not scare or intimidate him nor would it stop him from representing the people of Wayanad.

“Member of Parliament is a tag. It is a post. So, the BJP can take away the tag, the post, the house and they can even jail me, but they cannot stop me from representing the people of Wayanad.

“I am surprised that even after so many years, the BJP has not understood its opponent. They do not understand that their opponent will not get intimidated. They think I will get scared by sending police to my house or that I will be disturbed if my house is taken away,” he said.

It will also not stop him from asking questions or raising issues of the people of Wayanad and India, he said.

Regarding the central government order asking him to vacate his official residence, Gandhi said his sister, who spoke before him at the event, did not mention that “I was actually happy they took away my house” as he was not interested in staying there.

The Congress leader said he learned from the people of Wayanad, hundreds of whom lost their homes in floods in the state, that “take away my home 50 times, I will continue to raise the issues of the public of Wayanad and India”.

Gandhi said he knows that what he is doing is right and that he is on the correct path because of the 24-hour long attacks on him by the BJP.

“I have to tell you how I know what I am doing is correct. I know that if the BJP is taking away my house, disqualifying me from Parliament, attacking me 24 hours, I am doing the right thing. The more they attack me, the more I know that this is exactly the path on which I have to walk,” he said adding that he would not stop, “no matter what happens”.

The reason for the attacks on him by the BJP was because he asked some “simple questions” in Parliament about the relationship between PM Modi and Adani.

“After all, what did I do? I went to Parliament and asked the Prime Minister some questions about a businessman. I just asked him — Mr Narendra Modi, please explain your relationship with Mr Gautam Adani.

“I kept asking that simple question. In my speech in Parliament, I used media reports to show that Adani, who was 609th in the list of wealthiest people in the world, became number 2. I gave examples of how the Prime Minister himself facilitated this growth,” Gandhi said.

The former Congress president alleged that he showed how the defence relationship between Israel and India was transformed, rules of Indian airports were changed and Indian foreign policy was used — all to help Adani.

“I asked a simple question on the relationship the PM has with Adani. The PM has not answered this question so far and for the first time, you saw how the government itself was not letting the Parliament run,” he contended.

Gandhi further alleged that BJP ministers lied about him in Parliament, but he was not allowed to respond to the same as permitted under the rules.

When he wrote to the Lok Sabha Speaker regarding the same and seeking his permission to speak in the House in response to the allegations, Speaker Om Birla said he had no choice, Gandhi claimed.

“So the entire Parliament house was shut, I was not allowed to reply and then at the end of it, because the government was very uncomfortable about the type of questions I asked and about the issues I raised, I was removed from the Parliament.

“Doesn’t matter. This (disqualification) is the biggest gift they could have given me,” he said.

He assured the people of Wayanad that his disqualification does not mean that his relationship with the people there, irrespective of whether they support Kerala’s ruling LDF or state opposition UDF, would change.

It will not put on hold the various projects, like use of roads at night, or dampen issues like the buffer zone in the district, he said.

“Even if I am not an MP, I will make sure these things happen in Wayanad,” he said.

“In the end, I would like to repeat that my disqualification does not mean anything as far as my relationship with you (people of Wayanad) is concerned. I promise you this disqualification will only deepen my relationship with you,” he said at the conclusion of his speech.

Gandhi was disqualified as the MP from Wayanad last month after being convicted and sentenced in a criminal defamation case.
