    SRINAGAR: The University of Kashmir on Tuesday postponed the examinations of MBBS, LLB and BA LLB which were scheduled to be held on February 1, 2023 (Wednesday).

    Controller of Examinations Dr Majid Zaman said students from snow-bound areas of Kashmir requested for postponement citing inaccessibility due to heavy snowfall.

    “Fresh dates for the deferred examinations will be notified separately later,” he said.

    Srinagar, Jan 29 (GNS): Kashmir University and Cluster University Srinagar on Monday postponed all examinations scheduled for tomorrow in view of inclement weather conditions.

    “In view of continuous snowfall reported across Kashmir, all examinations of the University of Kashmir, scheduled to be held on Tuesday (January 31, 2023) are postponed,” Controller Examinations KU Dr Majid Zaman said in a statement to GNS, adding, “Fresh dates for the deferred Examinations will be notified separately later.”

    Meanwhile all the examinations of Cluster University Srinagar scheduled tomorrow have been postponed due to inclement weather, the varsity said in a notice. “Fresh dates for postponed papers shall be notified separately,” Controller of Examinations Cluster University Srinagar added. These varsities also postponed similar examinations scheduled today (January 30). (GNS)

    SRINAGAR: The Srinagar Traffic police on Saturday issued traffic advisory asking people to avoid certain routes while travelling in Srinagar tomorrow in view of Rahul Gandhi led Bharat Jodo Yatra that is scheduled to enter the City.

    According to an order, a copy of which lies with the news agency KNO no traffic will be allowed from Pantha Chowk towards Dalgate.

    Motorists have been asked to use the NHW-Nowgam-Natipora-Nowgam-Sanatnagar-Hyderpora Bypass to reach their destinations.

    As per the order, in addition no traffic will be allowed from Kohnkhan Dalgate towards Pantha Chowk and motorists have been asked to use the Khonakhan-SRTC Bridge-Sangermal Road instead.

    “To reach their destinations, all motorists are advised to use the M.A Road/Residency Road/HSHS/Jahangir Chowk flyover-Rambagh-Natipora or Baghat-Sanatnagar route. Vehicles will not be allowed from Radio Kashmir, Konhakhan, Dalgate, Hotel Lalit, and Nishat towards Nehrupark, and from Brein Nishat towards Boulevard-Gupkar Road. Motorists will need to use the Nishat-Foreshore-Habbak route instead,” reads the order.

    As per the order general public and tourists have been advised to use alternative routes to reach the Srinagar International Airport to avoid any inconvenience.

    “Commuters are advised to plan their movements accordingly as the diversions will be in place on January 29. The road stretch from Pantha Chowk upto Dalgate, Dalgate upto Nishat via Nehru Park, Gupkar road have been declared as “No Parking Zones” and unattended vehicles parked on the roadside will be towed. Medical emergencies will be facilitated,” it reads.

    Srinagar, Jan 27: The Bharat Jodo Yatra is set to resume from Chersoo Awantipora in South Kashmir Pulwama district and conclude at Pantha chowk tomorrow (Saturday).

    As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), JKPCC President Waqar Rasool, while talking to reporters at Anantnag said that on Saturday, Yatra will resume from Nimbal Chersoo near petrol Pump.

    He said that tomorrow, maximum women folk will join the Yatra and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti will also join the march.

    “Our leader Priyanka Gandhi is also expected to join the Yatra tomorrow from Awantipora to Pantha chowk,” he said.

    He said that near Birla School Pampore there will be tea break and night halt will be at Pantha Chowk truck yard from where Yatra will resume next day.

    The Yatra will resume from Pantha Chowk on January 29 and will end at Nehru Park Srinagar. Other leaders including former JK PCC President G A Mir on the occasion condemned the security lapse in Qazigund area.

    They said that despite assurances from government authorities from the last 20 days that they will facilitate everything, in the last 24 hours, they changed everything and it was very disastrous.

    “We have already lost Indhira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and couldn’t take risks and had to save our leader before everything and we are highly condemning the security lapse,” they said. Till last stage, Rahul wanted to continue his Yatra at Qazigund but when his security recommended against foot March, he decided to leave the spot, they said—(KNO)

    Hyderabad: The Directorate of School Education released a detailed schedule for transfers and promotions of headmasters and teachers working in government and local body schools with the counseling process commencing from Friday.

    The seniority list for promotions of Gr-II headmasters and school assistants will be displayed on January 27. The current vacancy list of the category wise will be available on the website here. The online applications for the transfers will be received between January 28 and January 30.

    The teachers from high schools, primary and upper primary schools, and primary local body schools will have to submit hard copies of their applications with evidence before January 31 and February 2.

    Submission and verification of hard copies as well as online updation will be done by the district education officer (DEO) between February 3 to February 6.

    On February 7 and 8 provisional seniority lists with entitlement points for transfers and promotions will be made available on the DEO’s website.

    On February 8 to February 10, the redressal of objections will be taken based on seniority basis.

    Between February 11 and 12, the final seniority list of transfers for Gr-II headmasters will be displaced. Edit option for headmasters of zilla parishad management at the multi-zonal level and headmasters of government schools for rectification can be made on February 13.

    Their transfers will be announced on February 14.

    Display of Headmaster Gr-II vacancies will be made available on February 15 while promotions of school assistants as headmasters will be taken up between February 16 and February 18.

    The display of vacancies of school assistants of zilla parishad/government after their promotions as Gr-II Headmasters and exercising web options by school assistants for transfers/counseling in zilla parishad/government schools will be conducted between February 19 and 20.

    The edit option for their applications will be available on February 21.

    Transfer of school assistants and equivalent cadres will be taken up between February 22 and February 23.

    Srinagar, Jan 25: Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with the outside world, remained closed for better part of the day on Wednesday and it is unlikely to open tomorrow as well, officials said.

    “The highway remained blocked for 12 hours 23 minutes due to shooting stones and mudslides at Mehar and Panthyal,” a traffic department official here said, adding, “ The highway is blocked due to shooting stones and mudslides between Chanderkot and Banihal. No fresh vehicular movement shall be allowed on Thursday from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa on the thoroughfare till clearance of the road.”

    He said amid MeT department’s prediction heavy rainfall, snowfall for next few days, there are chances of blockade of the highway. “People are advised not to travel on highway without confirmation from TCUs .”

    Mughal road, connecting twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri with Shopian, as well as Srinagar-Leh highway have been already closed for this winter.

    The Mughal road has been closed for vehicular movement vide District Magistrate Shopian’s order from January 5 in view of snow accumulation.
    Also, the Srinagar-Leh highway was closed for vehicular movement vide Divisional Commissioner Ladakh UT’s order (no. 75) on January 6 in view of snow accumulation. (GNS)
