    Inter-state narcotics racket busted in Rajouri, 2 Punjab residents arrested: Police

    Jammu and Kashmir police have busting an inter-state narcotics racket by arresting two Punjab based peddlers and recovered around 22 Kg Heroine-like substance from them in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district.

    An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a specific intelligence input was received by police that two suspects are in transit from Rajouri towards Jammu in a vehicle on Wednesday and acting swiftly over it, police teams were put on alert across the district“Existing nakas were strengthened to intercept them while some mobile MCVPs were also established.

    At around 09:30 pm, a vehicle bearing registration number JK01AB 5470 was intercepted at Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch national highway near ITI Sunderbani,” he said.

    He said that two Punjab residents were travelling in the car which was put to frisking during which a large quantity of Heroine like substance was recovered which is approximately 22 Kilograms.

    They have been identified as Onkar Singh son of Karam Singh resident of and Shamsher Singh son of Nirmal Singh –bother residents of Punjab.

    He further said that both the accused have been arrested and a case FIR No. 42/2023 U/Ss 8/21/22/25/27A/29/60 NDPS Act has been registered at Police station Sunderbani.

    “Further investigation into the matter is going on and all the forward and backward linkages are being traced with more arrests in the case are expected during the course of investigation.”—(KNO)

    SIU Attaches Under Construction Residential House of Hizb Militant Associate in Anantnag

    Srinagar, June 01: Police on Thursday said that its Special Investigation Unit attached under construction residential house of a militant associate in Danwathpora Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district after getting obtaining necessary sanctions from competent authority.

    In a handout to GNS, the police said that during the course of investigation in case FIR No. 103/2022 of Police Station Kokernag under UA(P) Act, one under construction residential house belonging to militant associate namely Mohammad Ishaq Malik son of Mohammad Saifullah Malik resident of Danwathpora Kokernag has been found used by militants of proscribed militant outfit HM.Accordingly, process for attachment of property belonging to the above accused falling within the ambit proceeds of militancy was initiated by SIU Anantnag under section 25 of UA(P) Act & the conformation related to the attachment of property was accorded by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, the spokesperson said.

    The general public is once again advised to not harbour or provide shelter or extend logistics to militants/militant associates in their houses, failing which strict legal action will be taken against anyone doing so.

    SIU shall continue identification and initiation of attachment /confiscation of properties falling under the ambit of proceeds of militancy to shake the ecosystem of terrorism in UT of J&K, reads the statement.(GNS)

    In 3 months, students suffer loss of 71 school hours in Sgr due to curtailment in timing

    In the past three months, students in J&K’s summer capital district, Srinagar, have suffered loss of 71 school hours due to curtailment in school timing.

    Following the reopening of schools after winter vacations in February, the School Education Department announced school timing across Kashmir division from March-01 wherein it has shortened one hour for those institutions falling within the municipality limits of Srinagar.

    According to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), from March 01 to May 31, the School timing within the limits of Srinagar Municipal Corporation was 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, a departure from normal school timing in the city.

    The normal school timing in the city is 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

    The shortening of school timing meant a loss of one hour daily for thousands of children studying in private as well as government institutions in the city.

    There were a total 71 working days from March 01 to May 31.

    This means students in Srinagar suffered an academic loss of 71 hours due to revision of school timing on Feb 28.

    Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Alok Kumar told KNO that the department would look into the matter.

    10.00 a.m.They will break /open the seal of the Question Booklet and start attempting the questions.
    01.00 p.m.The candidates will remain in their seats.
    They will hand over their OMR Answer Sheet to the Invigilator, take the Question Booklet and OMR candidate’s copy along with them and leave the Examination Hall only when they are asked to leave.

    Srinagar, May 23: Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Tuesday said that the UT reflects multi-cultural ethos of India and the administration led by him has revived film tourism under the film policy 2021 to open the gates of ‘paradise’ for Bollywood and Hollywood.

    Addressing the inaugural session of the Third G-20 Tourism Working Group meeting at SKICC on the banks of Dal Lake, the LG as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the UT administration has rolled-out film policy in 2021 to open gates for bollywood and hollywood.“In 2022, more than 300 films and serials were shot in J&K,” the LG said.

    “We have included hundreds of new tourist destinations on the UT’s tourist map. Many tourist destinations are already on the global map.

    In 2022, 18 million tourists visited J&K contributing 7 per cent to the total GDP of the UT.”

    LG Sinha said that the J & K administration has not just explored the new tourist destinations but started home stays in various beautiful villages.

    “J&K youth are scripting a bright future.The UT reflects the cultural ethos of India,” he said.

    “J&K is being developed as a digital society.

    In the last financial year, 92500 projects were completed. The region is witnessing a great transformation. He said the suggestions that have come to fore in the G-20 meetings that entail green tourism, eco-tourism and S&MEs have already been started by the J&K administration.

    The LG said that he was hopeful that the delegates enjoyed the serene and mesmerising beauty of the famous Dal Lake.Speaking on the occasion MoS for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendera Singh said that Srinagar offers wide-range of handicrafts—the embroidery, paper machie, crewel and various other forms of art. “New industries are coming up and infrastructure is being developed rapidly.

    Luckily, we have the world’s highest rail bridge over river Chenab in Jammu. We have the Lavender cultivation project in Bhaderwah area of Jammu region where many entrepreneurs from the outside have evinced their interest to start their business,” he said—(KNO)

    Eligibility for Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme:

    A candidate must be:

    1. a Domicile of UT of J&K/UT of Ladakh as the case may (For Candidates belonging to UT of Ladakh, ST certificate issued by Competent Authority of Ladakh shall be treated as Domicile Certificate);
    2. have passed 10+2 or Equivalent Examination from a Recognized Board and have obtained a Certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) Examination and Registered as R.N.R.M. with J&K Paramedical Nursing Council. A male Nurse, trained before the implementation of new Integrated Course besides being registered as a Nurse with J&K Paramedical Nursing Council, shall produce evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the areas such as O.T. Techniques, Ophthalmic Nursing, Leprosy Nursing, T.B. Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Neurological and Neuro Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Cancer Nursing, Orthopedic Nursing;
    3. be medically fit.

    JKBOPEE Post Basic BSc Nursing Syllabus 2023

    1. The syllabus for Entrance Test for this course is available in the e-Information Brochure which is available on the BOPEE website.
    • The tentative number of seats, Reservation Policy etc. (Reservation shall be only applicable to Govt. Colleges/ Institutions) for the examination is given in the e- Information Brochure. In case the Board conducts the entrance examination, it shall be conducted in one sitting of two hours duration and the paper shall contain 120 questions comprising different sections.

    Note:

    The eligibility is bare minimum and shall be subject to such changes/bench marks as may

    be fixed by the concerned Competent Authority. The Board shall on receipt of any such communication from the concerned Authority notify the same, which shall govern the eligibility criteria.

    Instructions:

    • Original Documents required to be submitted in the Institution at the time of Admission:-
    • All Marks Certificates of the GNM Course;
    • Marks Card of 12th Class;
    • Date of birth (only Matriculation Certificate issued by the Board);

    Admit Cards can be downloaded from the University websites www.kashmiruniversity.net / www.kashmiruniversity.ac.in from 22-05-2023 after 02:00 PM. However, the M P Ed. Aspirants can download their Admit Cards after the conduct of Physical Efficiency Test (PET) to be conducted by Department of Physical Education, University of Kashmir. The notification regarding the same will be issued separately;

    • Candidates must check their Roll Numbers and Centres allotted with the General Centre Notice, available on the University Website well before the commencement of the Entrance Test;

  • Youth Stabbed By Friend, Injured

    SRINAGAR: A youth was injured after being stabbed by his friend in Krangsoo area of Mattan in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.

    Quoting an official, KNO reported that Adnan Altaf of Krangsoo was stabbed by his friend outside his home after an argument.

    He said Adnan received injuries in his arm and shoulder in the attack. “He was shifted to a hospital, where his condition is said to be stable,” he said.

    Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.

    SRINAGAR: A 12th grade student from the Daksum area of Kokernag was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his native village.

    According to officials, the body of Mohsin Mushtaq Deka (18), a 12th grade student and son of Mushtaq Ahmad Deka from Dessu Daksum in Anantnag’s Kokernag hamlet, was discovered in suspicious circumstances.

    The body has been taken for legal and medical formalities, and further investigation is underway. (KS)

  • Teenager found mysteriously dead in Anantnag

    Kokernag, May 10: An 18-year-old boy was found dead mysteriously in Daksum area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.

    An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the boy identified as Mohsin Ahmad Deka (18) son of Mushtaq Ahmad Daka of Dessu Daksim was found dead mysteriously.

    He said that he had left home to play cricket, but was found dead in mysterious circumstances.

    “He has been shifted to SDH Kokarnag for postmortem to ascertained the cause of death.”

    Meanwhile, police have started further investigation in this regard—(KNO)
