  • Al-Huda Educational Trust Terror Funding Case, NIA Files Chargesheet

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday filed a chargesheet in the Al Huda Educational Trust (AHET) terror funding case, linked to the Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI), which had set up the Trust to mobilise funds to further its anti-India agenda even after it was banned.

In a statement, NIA spokesman said that JeI was declared an Unlawful Association in 2019. “The NIA, which was subsequently mandated to investigate the continued suspicious activities of the banned terror outfit, had registered a case against JEI in September 2022. It filed the chargesheet today in the NIA Special Court, J&K, after extensive investigations and multiple raids in Jammu and Kashmir,” the NIA spokesman said.

The NIA spokesman said that a Pak-based Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorist, Mushtaq Ahmed Mir alias Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, is among the four individuals / entities named in the chargesheet. Others charged in the case are AHET, Md. Amir Shamshi, a ‘rukun’ (primary member) and chairperson of AHET, and Abdul Hamid Ganai alias Abdul Hamid Fayaz r/o Shopian. “All four have been charged under various sections of UA(P)Act and IPC,” the spokesman said.

“Investigations have revealed that Md. Amir Shamshi was responsible for the day to day working of AHET, which was formed by JEI with the explicit purpose of mobilising funds to carry on its secessionist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Amir collected funds for JEI, J&K, through the Trust in the form of educational and religious donations. He channelized the funds to his co-accused, Amir-e-Jamaat (Head of JEI J&K) Abdul Hamid Ganai, to further the banned outfit’s anti-India agenda.”

The spokesman said that Amir Shamshi also conspired with Mushtaq Ahmed Mir, originally a resident of Rajouri. Mushtaq sent funds to Amir from Pakistan through Hawala channels. “Amir used these funds to organise propaganda meetings to motivate individuals to engage in secessionist and terror activities,” the NIA spokesman said.

  • Greece Police claim 2 Pak men nabbed for plotting terror attack on Jewish establishment

Greece Police claim 2 Pak men nabbed for plotting terror attack on Jewish establishment

    [ad_1]

Jerusalem: Israeli espionage agency Mossad and the Greek police have collaborated in foiling a plot to carry out a massive terror attack targeting Israelis and Jews in Greece and police are continuing searches in Athens and other parts of the country following the arrest of two Pakistani suspects in the case.

In a statement, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said Tuesday that the two Pakistani nationals – arrested by Greek police – were part of an Iranian terror network.

“The affair that was uncovered in Greece is a severe case that was successfully thwarted by the Greek security forces. It was an additional attempt by Iran to perpetrate terrorism against Israeli and Jewish targets abroad,” the PMO said.

“After the start of the investigation of the suspects in Greece, the Mossad rendered intelligence assistance in unravelling the infrastructure, its work methods and the link to Iran. The investigation revealed that the infrastructure that operated in Greece is part of an extensive Iranian network run from Iran and spanning many countries,” it added.

The two unnamed suspects, aged 27 and 29, are reportedly being held at police headquarters in central Athens. A third man, who is not in Greece, is wanted for questioning and has been charged in absentia.

Meanwhile, Greek police were continuing searches in Athens and other parts of the country. They are investigating whether other attacks on Jewish sites in Athens were being planned.

Local media reports indicated that the target of the attack was a Chabad House, which includes a Kosher restaurant and also hosts other religious services.

It is noteworthy that Pakistani terrorists who carried out the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai also targeted the Chabad House in the Indian metropolis.

Greek Police said the suspects had chosen a target of “high symbolism” and were making final preparations for the attack.

“Their aim was not only to cause the loss of life of innocent citizens but also to undermine the sense of security in the country while hurting public institutions and threatening (Greece’s) international relations,” the Greek police said.

The two Pakistanis were said to be a part of a “wide Iranian network that operates from Iran and out of many other countries”.

“An analysis of the seized information and digital data revealed and confirmed that the members of the network had already chosen as the target of the attack, a building of special importance; had carried out the reconnaissance of the area and the planning of the attack; and had received final instructions to carry out the attack,” a police statement carried by Greek news website Directus said.

According to the report, authorities began investigating the terror network following the 2021 arrest of two other Pakistani men suspected of planning attacks on Israelis. The network was linked to an Iranian plot foiled in Turkey last year, it said.

Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen thanked Greece for foiling the plot.

“The Ayatollah regime in Tehran is exporting terror to the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the wider world. Only a tough stance and cooperation will halt the terror activities of the Iranian regime,” Cohen said in a tweet.

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said the arrest was “further proof of the superiority of Israeli intelligence and the importance of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism and its perpetrators”.

“The Mossad and Israel’s intelligence agencies will continue to ensure that wherever Iran seeks to act against our citizens, it will be met with an effective response,” he said.

Hyderabad terror conspiracy case: Chargesheet filed against LeT men

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a chargesheet against alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operatives who were targeting the city for terror attacks.

The Hyderabad police had arrested Mohd Abdul Wajid alias Zahed, Samiuddin alias Sami and Maaz Hasan Farooq alias Maaz last year and charged them with terrorist conspiracy. They allegedly raised funds and collected explosives to carry out recruitment into the LeT, the police said.

The NIA had taken over investigations into the case in January 2023 from Hyderabad Police. NIA investigations revealed that Zahed, Sami and Maaz were in touch with Farhatulla Ghori, an ‘individual terrorist’ listed by the government of India.

Simultaneously, they were also in league with Siddiqu bin Osman alias Abu Hanzala, Abdul Majeed alias Chotu and other LeT leaders and operatives, the NIA said. They had aimed to carry out bomb blasts at crowded places in Hyderabad City.

Farhatulla Ghori, Siddiqu bin Osman alias Abu Hanzala and Abdul Majeed alias Chotu are both based in Pakistan, said the NIA.

“Ghori recruited Zahed from cyberspace and sent funds to him through hawala channels. Zahed was tasked to recruit more persons into LeT and to carry out terrorist acts. Sami, Maaz and Mohammed Kaleem were instigated and prodded by Zahed to work for the LeT,” the NIA stated in a press release.

Four (04) hand grenades were dropped at an isolated spot near Manoharabad village on Hyderabad-Nagpur Highway (NH-44) on 28 September.2022. Zahed got the hand-grenade consignment collected through Sami and then gave one grenade each to Sami and Maaz with instructions to hurl the same at public gatherings during the Dusshera festival, the NIA added.

However, their intentions could not bear fruit as they were arrested by the Hyderabad police before the planned attacks. The grenades were recovered from their possession during a search of their houses. Rs 20 lakhs were also seized from Zahed., the NIA further added

The NIA, after ascertaining facts and filed a chargesheet on Wednesday against Zahed, Sami and Maaz under sections 120B, 153A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), sections 4, 5, 6 of the Explosives Substances Act, 1908 and sections 13, 17, 18, 18B, 20, 38, 39 of the UA (P) Act, 1967.

Suspended BJP MLA Raja Singh alleges terror plot to target him

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Suspended BJP MLA T. Raja Singh has claimed that a terrorist outfit planned to target him during the Ram Navami procession in Hyderabad on Thursday.

He posted on social media a letter from a resident of the old city of Hyderabad to the commissioner of police claiming that a terrorist planned to hurl bombs at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, state BJP office and Ram Navami procession on March 31.

The letter, written by Uma Maheswari, alleged that the main target of the terrorist working for Bahrain-based Mukhtar Brigades is Raja Singh, a member of Telangana Legislative Assembly from Goshamahal constituency.

Raja Singh, who is scheduled to lead the procession, asked state home Minister Mahmood Ali, Director General of Police and Police Commissioner if they verified the claims made in the letter. “Update us abt this as Lakhs of Ram Bhakts joins this procession,” tweeted Raja Singh.

The controversial MLA had last month lodged a complaint with the police stating that he was receiving threatening calls from Pakistan-based phone numbers.

“I have been receiving threatening calls every day. I have given written complaints many times to the police department when the callers are aggressive and abusive but no action has been taken. Not even one person has been arrested who threatened me as of now,” he had said.

Following the MLA’s claims, police had assigned him a new bullet-resistant vehicle.

The MLA was arrested by the police in August last year for making certain comments hurting religious sentiments of Muslims. He was sent to jail on August 25 after the Hyderabad police commissioner had invoked PD Act. BJP had also suspended him from the party.

Raja Singh was released from jail on November 9, after spending two months in jail following his arrest under the Preventive Detention Act.

The Telangana High Court had set aside the police commissioner’s order and released the MLA on bail but directed him not to make any speech or comment which created hatred among communities.

Hyderabad: Fake letter claiming terror attack on Ram Navami creates panic

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: With just two days ahead of Sri Ram Navami celebrations, the city police went into a tizzy on Tuesday after receiving an anonymous letter claiming a terrorist attack on Sardar Vallabhbhai National Police Academy, Sri Ram Navmi Shobha Yatra, and the State BJP office.

However, the Hyderabad police have categorically denied the letter’s authenticity and declared it false. The police claimed that enmity among family members was the motive behind the mischief of writing the complaint and that a lady lawyer is suspected to be involved in the controversy. The police have made foolproof security arrangements for Sri Ram Navmi Shoba Yatra, which falls on March 30.

    Fake letter

The anonymous petitioner claimed to be Uma Maheswari, a resident of Mandi Mir Alam, and sent the letter to the National Police Academy, prompting the Telangana State Intelligence Department to take action.

The anonymous letter targeted a particular family from the Old City that includes an employee of Amazon. The letter claimed that Fatema Asadi is heading a banned terrorist organization named Saraya-Al-Mukhtar, based in Bahrain, and that her husband, an employee of Amazon, is also linked to the terrorist group.

The mischief monger claimed that the terrorist group is planning to target Sardar Vallabhbhai National Police Academy, Sri Ram Navmi Shobha Yatra, and the State BJP office, as well as suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh.

Upon receiving the information, the intelligence department swung into action and found the letter to be fake and based on false allegations.

A press clarification from the Hyderabad Police Commissioner’s office said that the complaint is false. Earlier, two similar complaints were lodged against Asad Abidi and his wife, accusing them of being terrorists.

The first petition was lodged in the name of Radhika Rangwal. The present petition is lodged in the name of Uma Maheshwari.

“We have inquired into the previous two petitions. The inquiry revealed that Asad Abidi is an employee of Amazon. His wife is a housewife and a resident of the Michowk area. His antecedents were also verified. They do not have any terrorist links,” said an official from the Hyderabad city police.

It is learned that Fatima and her sister were to be married within their relative circle. As Fatima married Asad Abidi, the affected family got offended. The above couple is suspecting a lady from that family, who is an advocate in Delhi.

Terror group SFJ threatens Uttarakhand CM ahead of G20 meet in Ramnagar

    [ad_1]

Dehradun: Ahead of the three-day G20 meeting in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has received pre-recorded threat calls from Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, chief of the banned organisation Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).

The pre-recorded audio was also sent to mediapersons and government officials on Sunday.

In the message, allegedly sent by spoofed numbers, the SFJ president threatened to raise Khalistani flags during the G20 meeting claiming that Ramnagar is a part of Khalistan and not India.

Pannu also warned Dhami against taking action against people of his organisation in the state.

“If any case is filed against the people of my organisation in Uttarakhand, then the Chief Minister will be responsible for it,” the pre-recorded call said.

Earlier this month, the SFJ chief also made similar calls regarding the G20 conference held in Amritsar on March 15.

Director General of Police (DGP) Uttarakhand Ashok Kumar said that he has issued instructions to get it probed by the state Special Task Force (STF) immediately and the STF has started tracing all these numbers.

This is not the first time that such messages of Pannu have gone viral. In the past also people have been getting calls like this.

According to police officials, the SFJ has no base in Uttarakhand.

Pannu lives in America and practices law in New York. He is considered to be the face of Sikhs for Justice.

Pannu has been involved in a number of terrorist activities. He tried to organise “Referendum 2020” two years ago, in which he appealed to Sikhs around the world to vote in support of Khalistan and he has been provoking the youth to support Khalistan.

Pannu was declared a terrorist under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) in July 2020.

NIA makes second arrest in NGO terror funding case

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday arrested Khurram Parvez, the programme coordinator of Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Societies (JKCCS), and the chairperson of Philippines-based NGO Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearances (AFAD), in connection with an NGO terror funding case.

Earlier, the NIA had arrested a J&K-based journalist, Irfan Mehraj, from Srinagar connection with the same case.

“Investigation has revealed that Khurram Parvez was collecting funds under the garb of fighting for human rights from various international entities and channelising the same for funding terror activities in the Kashmir Valley. He, along with his associates, was also propagating secessionist agenda through his various NGOs.

Khurram Parvez has already been chargesheeted in another NIA case. He was formally arrested upon production in this case on Wednesday,” the NIA said.

The case relates to terror funding of proscribed terrorist organisations, such as Lashkar-e-Toiba(LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, by certain NGOs, trusts and societies based out of the Valley.

Investigation has revealed that Khurram Parvez and his associates raised funds to support individuals who were involved in stone pelting on security forces and also motivated others to extend similar support.

These trusts and societies, which have been under investigation, have utilised the funds raised by them to publish anti-national and incriminating materials to cause hatred and disaffection towards the Government of India.

  • Amritpal Singh maintaining close links with ISI, terror groups: Sources

Amritpal Singh maintaining close links with ISI, terror groups: Sources

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Radical preacher Amritpal Singh, who is on the run following a police crackdown, has been maintaining close links with Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and some terrorist groups based abroad, official sources said on Saturday.

Amritpal Singh, who had even issued a veiled threat to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has been trying to destabilise the situation in Punjab by indoctrinating and attracting the Sikh youth into the fold of his outfit “Waris Punjab De”.

The radical preacher is believed to be a close associate of UK-based Khalistani terrorist Avtar Singh Khanda. Khanda is believed to behind Amritpal Singh’s meteoric rise, sources said.

Khanda is a trusted lieutenant of leader of the banned Babbar Khalsa International Paramjit Singh Pamma, who often holds theoretical training classes for the Sikh youth to radicalise them.

The trio have been aiming to destabilise Punjab by ideological indoctrination of the Sikh youth with extremist views, they said.

Khanda gives online demonstrations from Birmingham and Glasgow on how to make improvised explosive devices by using commonly available chemicals.

Amritpal Singh also has links with chief of the International Sikh Youth Federation Lakhbir Singh Rode, who is wanted in India in cases of smuggling of arms and explosives, including RDX, conspiracy to attack government leaders in New Delhi and spreading hatred in Punjab.

When Amritpal Singh was in Dubai, he was in close touch with Rode’s brother Jaswant.

The radical preacher was known for asking his comrades to stay armed and he formed a new group called Anandpur Khalsa Army (AKF). This group is always around him with dangerous weapons, they said.

Amritpal Singh, who was a transport operator in Dubai, came in contact with the ISI there, sources said.

The agents of the ISI believed to have told him to motivate the innocent young Sikhs in the name of religion.

After coming to Punjab, at the behest of the ISI, Amritpal Singh tried to spread the influence of his group ‘Waris Punjab De’.

Later, he launched a campaign called ‘Khalsa Waheer’ and strengthened his organisation by going to villages.

He stirred up the issues of Punjab and started inciting the Sikhs against the Government of India.

He has been successful in getting people to do what he wanted under the guise of religion and this helped the ISI to carry out its design in Punjab, they said.

Amritpal Singh was anointed the head of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ following the death of its founder – actor and activist Deep Sidhu – in a road accident in February last year. The event was held at Moga’s Rode, the native village of slain militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

A major police crackdown was underway in Punjab against radical preacher Amritpal Singh and his supporters over charges of spreading communal tension in the state.

Telangana: NIA charge sheet 5 in Nizamabad PFI terror training case

    [ad_1]

New Delhi; The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary charge sheet before a special court in Hyderabad against five accused in the Nizamabad PFI case pertaining to criminal conspiracy hatched by PFI members to recruit and radicalise youth and organise training camps to put them through arms training for carrying out acts of terror and violence to make India an Islamic state by 2047.

“The accused are trained Popular Front of India (PFI) cadres who were found involved in provoking and radicalising impressionable Muslim youth, recruiting them into the PFI fold and imparting weapons training in specifically organised training camps. The aim was to carry out violent terrorist activities, in furtherance of the conspiracy to establish Islamic rule in the country by 2047,” the NIA said in its chargesheet.

The NIA chargesheet Shaik Raheem alias Abdul Raheem, Shaik Vahaid Ali alias Abdul Wahed Ali, Jafrulla Khan Pathan, Shaik Riyaz Ahmed and Abdul Waris under the relevant sections of IPC and UA(P)A.

In December 2022, the NIA had filed its first chargesheet against 11 accused in the case after taking over the investigation from Telangana police in August 2022.

“These PFI cadres misinterpreted religious texts and proclaimed that violent form of jihad is necessary to end the sufferings of Muslims in India. Once recruited into the PFI fold, the Muslim youth were sent to the training camps organised by the accused PFI cadres where they were trained in the use of lethal weapons to kill their ‘targets’ by attacking their vital body parts such as throat, stomach and head,” the NIA alleged.

The PFI and its many affiliates were declared as an ‘unlawful association’ by the Ministry of Home Affairs in September 2022 after its involvement in violent activities came to light during investigations carried out by various state police units and national agencies.
