    Telangana: KTR to speak at AsiaBerlin Summit in June

    Hyderabad: State IT minister K T Rama Rao has been invited to the AsiaBerlin Summit 2023 to be held in Berlin, Germany, from June 12 to June 15.

    The summit will be held with the theme Connecting the Startup Ecosystems will be inaugurated by the Governing Mayor of Berlin Kai Wegner in Rotes Rathaus.

    The invite from the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, requested KTR to speak at this year’s Summit and thus strengthen the partnership between our countries and send a visible signal for intensifying this cooperation.

    This year, the summit will focus on three main topics – mobility and logistics, energy transition, green tech, climate change and artificial intelligence. In addition, a dedicated investor program, a startup pitch competition and guided tours through the Berlin ecosystem will be organised.

    Earlier on May 4, the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) invited KTR to the 14th WEF annual meeting of the new champions, to be held from June 27 to 29, 2023 in Tianjin, China, with the support of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

    WEF’s President Børge Brende stated in the invitation that driven by KTR’s vision, Telangana has become a beacon of innovation and a pioneer in embracing emerging technologies.

    “Telangana is leading India’s start-up and innovation system through future-oriented policies and enablers such as the T-Hub. Participants will be keen to hear your insights on promoting growth in Telangana led by entrepreneurship, innovation and digital transformation,” reads the invitation.

    The meeting will convene over 1,500 global leaders from business, government, civil society, international organizations and academia at a pivotal time for the global economic recovery. It will focus on key transformations such as accelerating the energy transition, making progress on climate and sustainability, deploying innovation across economies and industries, and post-pandemic consumer behaviour.

    The much-awaited results of the Telangana SSC and Inter exams are expected to be declared this week. The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education and SSC board have already completed the evaluation of answer scripts, and the results are being verified to avoid any errors.

    The Inter exams for the year 2023 were conducted from March 15 to April 4, 2023. A total of 5,05,625 students registered for the exams and the evaluation of answer scripts has been completed.

    For SSC exams, as many as 4,94,620 students including 2,49,747 boys and 2,44,873 girls applied. The exams were held from April 3 to 13, and the evaluation of answer scripts has also been completed.

    Once the results are declared, students can download their mark sheets from the official websites of the respective boards. The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education and SSC board have taken all necessary steps to ensure that the results are error-free.

    Those who fail to clear the exam can appear in advanced supplementary exams that will be conducted soon.

    Hyderabad: As the situation in Manipur reaches its peak, the state government has decided to airlift Telangana students and people currently living in the northeastern state to safety.

    According to a press release, about 250 students hailing from different districts of Telangana are studying in various educational institutions in Imphal and surrounding areas.

    Special flights have been arranged to facilitate the safe transit of Telangana students and natives from Imphal airport on May 7. Telangana government officials are in regular touch with Manipur state, said the press release.

    Earlier in the day, Director General of Police Anjani Kumar informed that a round-the-clock helpline was set up for distressed natives of Telangana stuck in Manipur.

    “Those in need of support can reach out to the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Sumathi B on 7901643283 or by email for assistance,” he tweeted from his official Twitter handle.

    Atleast 20 dead since May 3

    At least 20 people have lost their lives in Manipur carnage since May 3, a government official said here on Saturday.

    Manipur government’s newly appointed security advisor Kuldiep Singh, a former CRPF Chief, said that at least 18 to 20 people were killed in the series of ethnic violence in different districts of the state.

    “Over 100 people were injured in these countless attacks. Over 500 houses, a large number of vehicles, shops and other properties were either burnt down or damaged in these attacks, arsoning, vandalisation since May 3,” Singh, a retired IPS officer, told the media in Imphal.

    Violence had erupted in Torbung area in Manipur’s Churachandpur district during a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ on May 3 to protest the demand of Meiteis for Scheduled Tribe(ST) status and escalated throughout the state.

    Meiteis account for about 53 per cent of the population in Manipur and live mostly in Imphal Valley. Tribals, who include Nagas and Kukis, account for another 40 per cent of the population and live mostly in the hill districts which surround the valley.

    Hyderabad: Telangana government announced that over 1.34 crore people underwent eye examinations under the Kanti Velugu scheme so far.

    As many as 19,95,659 visually impaired people including 63,18,637 males, 71,20,703 females and 7,042 transgenders were provided with free spectacles and medicines.

    Additionally, 98,77,475 people were diagnosed without any eye problems covering 85% of eye examinations.

    Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao reviews the progress of the program on a daily basis and takes note of how many people have been tested and reading glasses distributed, while the medical officials at camps ensure that reading glasses are delivered immediately after completion of screening and prescription glasses within four weeks, a press note stated.

    The scheme will go on till June 15.

    Hyderabad: As part of the government’s vision to the spread IT sector across Telangana, IT and industries minister KT Rama Rao, along with sports minister V Srinivas Goud inaugurated the IT Tower in Mahbubnagar on Saturday.

    KTR said that the proximity of the facility to Hyderabad and Shamshabad airports will attract companies to establish their operations in the area.

    Spread across four acres, the IT tower in Mahbubnagaris is a four-florried building where companies and the state government’s innovation ecosystem are provided with space to set up their offices or centres.

    The building consists of 44 office spaces- 44 No’s, 10 conference halls, an innovation centre, a knowledge hub and a cafeteria.

    On the occasion, KTR also inaugurated the Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge’s (TASK) centre, facilitation centres of T-Hub and WE-HUB located in the building.

    Lithium Ion Battery manufacturing Giga plant worth Rs 9,500 crore investment at Mahabubnagar IT Tower was also inaugurated.

    Stepping towards making electric vehicles for the state and mobility hub sustenance, Amara Raja Batteries Ltd. broke ground for Giga Corridor for Lithium Cell and battery pack manufacturing in Mahbubnagar.

    Besides this, seat allocation letters were handed over to nine companies that include Mueller dotKonnect, Amara Raja Group, Zuven Technologies, Intuites LLC, Urpan Technologies, E-grove Systems, IT Vision 360 Inc, Four Oaks Inc and BCDC Cloud Centers Pvt. Ltd. to set up their operations at the facility.

    The latest addition to this initiative is the IT Tower located in Mahbubnagar. IT Towers in Nizamabad, Nalgonda and Siddipet will be inaugurated in a few months, the government said.

    Likewise, the IT tower in Adilabad is shaping up well for creating employment for rural youth, these IT Towers reduce migration to larger cities, boost local businesses and aid in the equitable development of the state.

    KTR then checked on the beautification works, which were undertaken to change the shape of Peddacheruvu in Mahabubnagar into a mini tank bund.

    KTR also inaugurated the Shilparamam built at the big pond with the purpose of providing a pleasant atmosphere and entertainment to the people of Mahabubnagar.

    Hyderabad: Owing to the current violent situation in Manipur, the Telangana government has extended a round-the-clock helpline for its citizens stranded in the northeastern state.

    The Director General of Police Anjani Kumar on Saturday informed that the Telangana police is coordinating with its Manipur counterpart in order to provide full support to stranded natives of Telangana.

    Manipur government’s newly appointed security advisor Kuldiep Singh, a former CRPF Chief, said that at least 18 to 20 people were killed in the series of ethnic violence in different districts of the state.

    “Over 100 people were injured in these countless attacks. Over 500 houses, a large number of vehicles, shops and other properties were either burnt down or damaged in these attacks, arsoning, vandalisation since May 3,” Singh, a retired IPS officer, told the media in Imphal.

    He said that 23 police stations in different districts were identified as “most vulnerable” and the Army and Central Armed Police Forces were adequately deployed in these areas.

    However, unconfirmed reports have put the toll between 50 and 55.

    Army and Assam Rifles flag marches have been continued in more than four districts, specially in the most volatile Churachandpur district, he added.

    In view of the prevailing widespread unrest in the state, the Central Government in a significant move has imposed Article 355 in the state to control the situation.

    Article 355 is a part of emergency provisions contained in the Constitution that empowers the Centre to take all necessary steps to protect a state against internal disturbances and external aggression.

    Director General of Manipur Police, P. Doungel while talking to the media said that after reviewing the overall situation, Article 355 has been imposed in the entire state allowing the Centre to take all necessary steps to bring the situation under control and protect the lives and properties of the people.

    The police chief said that some miscreants looted arms from a police station in Bishnupur district and he urged them to return the same failing which stern action would be initiated against them.

    “The situation in Manipur is expected to be brought under control in a day or two,” the DGP said.

    A defence spokesman said, “Indian Air Force ferried additional Army and Paramilitary troops from two airfields in Assam employing C17 Globemaster and AN 32 aircraft. Domination and evacuation of civilians of all communities from affected areas continued.”

    The Manipur government on Thursday appointed Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Ashutosh Sinha as the overall Operational Commander to control the situation and bring normalcy to the state.

    Police said that over 25,000 affected people of different communities have been evacuated and sheltered in safer places. “We urge the people not to fall prey to any rumour and if they need any assistance contact the nearby police stations and the government authorities,” Sinha said.

    Meanwhile, more than five Deputy Inspector General (DIG) rank officers and seven senior superintendents of police (SSP) and SP-rank officers of the CRPF have been tasked to coordinate the deployment of various security forces in violence-infested Manipur.

    A senior official of Manipur Home Department said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is closely monitoring the situation in Manipur round the clock.

    Imphal Valley remained peaceful but tense on Friday. There were, however, intermittent gunfights between militant groups and security forces reported from the hill districts surrounding the valley.

    The Manipur government has given ‘shoot at sight’ orders to contain the violence and Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said the violence was a result of “misunderstanding” in the society and that his administration was taking all measures to bring the situation under control.

    Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Friday has given a sign of approval for the proposition of the Telangana State Beverages Corporation Limited to decrease the current Exceptional price of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and Foreign Liquor (other than beer).

    Beginning on Friday, the stocks shipped from the bottling units will be subject to the revised Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rates.

    The revised rates anticipate a reduction of Rs.10 on liquor bottles of 90 and 180 millilitres (ml), Rs.20 on bottles of 375 ml, and Rs.40 on bottles of 750 ml.

    As of Friday, the liquor manufactured that is still in depots or stores, which includes stock in transit and waiting trucks before the depots, will be sold at the current MRP.

    At a teleconference with officials on Friday, Prohibition and Excise Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad stated that the liquor manufactured from May 5, 2023, is directed to bear price stickers with new MRP and sold at new rates.

    The commissioner further ordered to display of a new MRP in all wine retailers.

    Hyderabad: Martyred Army jawan Pabbala Anil’s final rites will be performed with full state honours at his native place Malkapur of Bonipalli Mandal on Saturday.

    Anil died and two others sustained severe injuries on Thursday when an Army HAL Dhruv chopper crashed after a hard landing on the hill of the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

    Anil’s body will arrive at Gangadhara Chowk at 9 a.m. on Saturday, where a procession will be taken to the Malkapur burial ground. Army officials also arrived in the village and made all arrangements for the funeral rites.

    Telangana planning board vice-chairman, B Vinod Kumar, Collector Anurag Jayanthi, Superintendent of Police (SP) and other army authorities are going to attend the funeral.

    Municipal Administration Minister and BRS working president KT Rama Rao expressed his grief over the death of the Army jawan and extended his support to Anil’s family members.

    In a statement, KT Rama Rao said, the incident was very unfortunate as we lost a young army jawan. The minister assured full support to family members of the martyred army jawan from the state government.

    Choppadandi MLA, Sunke Ravishankar also visited the house of Anil in the morning, consoled his family members, and extended his support.

    Anil joined the Indian Army in the year 2011, he was serving as a technical wing. He is survived by his wife Soujanya and two sons Ayan and Arav.

    Hyderabad: Rich tributes were paid to technician Pabballa Anil, who was killed in an Army helicopter crash in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, after his mortal remains arrived here on Friday.

    Major General Rakesh Manocha, General Officer Commanding Headquarters Telangana & Andhra Sub Area, laid a wreath and paid homage to late Anil at the Air Force Station Hakimpet here, a defence release said.

    A wreath-laying ceremony was organised to pay tributes to the valiant soldier, a native of Telangana, by the Indian Army.

    The mortal remains departed for his native village of Malkapur in Rajanna Sircilla district by road and the funeral will be conducted with full military honours at his native place, it said.

    Anil was killed when the helicopter crashed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. The chopper crashed after a “hard landing” in a forested area in the upper reaches on Thursday following a technical fault, killing the technician and injuring two pilots on board.
