ED raid was over in 30 minutes, served them food: Tejashwi

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Monday claimed that the ED raid on his house in Delhi’s New Friends Colony lasted only 30 minutes and the team found nothing while he and his family members had treated the officials hospitably, serving tea and meals to them.

“We have not left any scope to offer hospitality to ED officials. We have served tea, breakfast, and lunch,” Tejashwi Yadav said after returning to Patna.

“When ED officials came to my house for a raid, they completed the search operation in half an hour. When we asked them to go from my house as the search was over, they said that they have orders from top bosses to stay in the house for a longer period of time so that news about the raids would run for the day,” he claimed.

Tejashwi Yadav also claimed that the ED team, which claimed to have seized a large amount of cash and gold, had found nothing and dared them to release a list of their seizures.

“All BJP people are fake and we are original socialist leaders. We would not get scared of their lies. The BJP leaders are becoming uncomfortable after the rally in Purnea. They want to divert attention from it but they will fail in their efforts,” he said.

“In 2017, they were talking about Rs 8,000 crore. Now they are talking about Rs 600 crore. I want to ask them to give the details of Rs 8,000 crore first.. where did the Rs 8,000 crore go. They do not have any proof. They only have fictitious stories. BJP leaders are feeling uneasiness ever since we have thrown them out of power in Bihar,” he added.

‘Rumours’, says Tejashwi on ED claims of Rs 600 cr ‘proceeds of crime’

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has dubbed as “rumours” the claim of the Enforcement Directorate that proceeds of crime amounting to Rs 600 crore were detected during searches on premises owned by him and close family members.

The RJD leader, who is currently away in Delhi, also said the BJP will be left embarrassed if he made public the “panchnama” (seizure list) signed after the raids.

“Just recall, in 2007, transactions worth Rs 8,000 crore, including a mall and hundreds of land plots, were alleged,” tweeted Yadav, in an obvious reference to the land-for-hotels ‘scam’ pertaining to his father Lalu Prasad’s tenure as the railway minister.

Now facing the heat in the land-for-jobs ‘scam’ pertaining to, roughly, the same period, Yadav also recalled his name being linked to a mall seized in Gurugram, which turned out to be owned by a private company.

The RJD had threatened legal action against media outlets for “wrongly” reporting that Yadav, the party supremo’s son and heir apparent, owned the commercial establishment.

“The BJP government (at the Centre) spreading rumours again, quoting sources. It should have asked its spin doctors to first settle the account on the previous operations, before coming up with the new tale of Rs 600 crore,” Yadav said.

The ED had on Saturday said it seized “unaccounted cash” of Rs 1 crore and “detected proceeds of crime worth Rs 600 crore” after it raided RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s family in connection with a money laundering case linked to the railways land-for-jobs ‘scam’.

“Let them make public the ‘panchnama’ (seizure list) signed after the raids. If we do so on our own, think of the embarrassment that these BJP leaders will have to face,” added Yadav.

The ED had launched raids on Friday at multiple locations linked to Prasad’s family members, including that of his son Tejashwi in Delhi.

The CBI had also recently questioned Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi — former chief ministers of Bihar — in the case.

Land-for-jobs ‘scam’: Tejashwi Yadav skips CBI questioning Saturday, seeks fresh date

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav did not appear before the CBI for questioning on Saturday in the alleged land-for-jobs scam citing personal reasons, officials said.

The federal agency summoned RJD leader Yadav for questioning on Saturday after he had skipped the previous date on March 4, they said.

He has cited personal reasons for not attending the questioning session, following which the agency is likely to give him another date, they said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had recently questioned RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi — former chief ministers of Bihar — in Delhi and Patna respectively.

The case pertains to people allegedly given employment in the railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold at cheap rates to the Yadav family and its associates, the officials said.

After the recent questioning of his parents, Tejashwi Yadav had alleged that investigation agencies were acting against political opponents of the ruling BJP at the Centre.

“It is an open secret that probe agencies are acting against political opponents of the BJP and helping those who agree to align with that party,” the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader had told reporters outside the Bihar assembly on Monday.

Yadav then said that Prasad, as the railway minister, had “no powers” to give employment in exchange for favours. He got support from the Congress and the AAP, which targeted the central government, alleging that the ruling BJP wanted to “suppress” the voice of the Opposition.

Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar on Saturday hinted that he agreed with the contention of ally RJD that the recent crackdown on its president Lalu Prasad and his family members by the CBI and ED was “politically motivated”.

The CBI has filed a charge sheet in the land-for-jobs case against Prasad, Rabri Devi and 14 others under charges of criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and all the accused have been summoned on March 15 by a special court, officials said.

The allegations have been denied by members of the Yadav family.

The officials said the fresh round of questioning is taking place as part of “further investigation” on the basis of fresh inputs gathered by it during its ongoing probe.

The CBI has alleged that during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as the railway minister in the UPA government from 2004 to 2009, favourite candidates were appointed in the railways in violation of norms and procedures.

No advertisement or public notice was issued for appointment but some residents of Patna were appointed as substitutes in different zonal railways located in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hazipur, the CBI has alleged.

As a quid pro quo, the candidates, directly or through their immediate family members, allegedly sold land to the family members of Prasad at highly discounted rates, up to one-fourth to one-fifth of the prevailing market rates.

Land for job scam: ED conducts raids at Tejashwi Yadav’s Delhi residence

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted raids at more than 15 places including RJD leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav’s residence in the national capital, in connection with the land for job scam issue.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has recently grilled former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad, the former Railway Minister on the same matter.

The ED has also conducted raids in Bihar in the IRCTC scam. The ED’s case is on the basis of CBI’s FIR.

The CBI in its case has alleged that during the investigation, it was found that the accused, in conspiracy with the then GM Central Railways and CPO, Central Railways engaged some persons as substitutes in lieu of land either in their name or in the name of close relatives of Lalu’s family.

The CBI registered a case against Lalu Prasad, the then Union railway minister, his wife Rabri Devi, two daughters and 15 others, including unknown public servants and private persons.

“During the period 2004-2009 Yadav obtained pecuniary advantages in the form of transfer of landed property in the name of his family members in lieu of appointment of substitutes in Group ‘D’ Post in different zones of Railways,” the official said.

A number of residents of Patna themselves or through their family members sold and gifted their land situated at Patna in favour of the family members of Lalu Prasad, and a private company controlled by him and his family. It has been alleged that they were also involved in the transfer of immovable properties.

Such raids will continue till 2024 Lok Sabha election, says Tejashwi

    [ad_1]

Patna: After his mother and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi was questioned by a CBI team for 4 hours on Monday, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said that such actions will continue till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“We have not done anything wrong and hence we are not concerned about such raids. It will continue till the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Such raids would not affect the Lalu family,” he said.

“I have already asked the CBI about why it is bothering to conduct raids on our house every month. I also offered to open an office inside our residence. They are coming to Patna and spending the money of taxpayers. We always cooperate with the central agency but they have not found any proof of it,” Tejashwi Yadav said.

“We have won the case in the Supreme Court. Hence such raids have no meaning. The CBI had closed the IRCTC land for a job case in the past and reopened it again,” he added.

“Railways has not considered it as a scam but the CBI is dreaming about it as a scam. When Lalu Prasad was the Railway Minister, the department’s annual turnover was in surplus. Railways had gained a profit of Rs 90,000 crore. Neither the PM, the CM or any minister has the capacity to give jobs. I never saw any minister do the signature and a person got a job,” he said.

Hitting out against the BJP, Tejashwi Yadav said: “If anyone went into BJP, he became Raja Harischandra and if anyone asks question, action is started against him.”

Tejashwi assures action against Sudhakar Singh for repeated attacks on CM

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Monday said that his RJD will take action against MLA and former minister Sudhakar Singh for repeatedly targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

“The party has already taken his clarification for attacking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Still, he is repeatedly attacking him. It indicates that he was guided by BJP and RSS and playing on their pitch. The matter is in the cognisance of party’s national President Lalu Prasad Yadav and he has asked national General Secretary Abdul Bari Siddiqui to look after it,” he said.

“At present, the health of Abdul Bari Siddiqui is not right. Once he recovers from the illness, he will form a committee to probe this matter and submit the report before Lalu Prasad Yadav to take action against him,” Yadav added.

Sudhakar Singh on Monday said that the Nitish Kumar government has failed in every sector in the state.

Earlier JD-U MLC Sanjay Singh strongly objected to the repeated statement of Sudhakar Singh against Nitish Kumar after the meeting of Mahagathbandhan’s legislators in Bihar Vidhan Sabha.

“The water has gone above the head. When will the RJD take action against him?” he asked.

‘Don’t think Biharis as fools’, Tejashwi targets BJP at mega rally

    [ad_1]

Patna: The Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, on Saturday targeted the BJP during a mega rally of the Mahagathbandhan in Purnia.

“We are Biharis and don’t think of us as fools (Ham Log Bihari Hai, Hamko Burbak Mat Samjhiye),” Tejashwi said while taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the promises he had made before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

It was a show of strength for the Mahagathbandhan on Saturday as each and every MLA, MP and minister were present at the rally.

“During a rally at this same venue in 2014, Narendra Modi had promised to give special status to Bihar. But it turned into a ‘jumla’. Don’t assume that we Biharis are fools. We understand everything. The Centre had said that the income of the farmers would double by 2022, but what happened to that promise? What happened to the promise of concrete houses for every countryman? Please tell us one promise made by the Centre which has been fulfilled,” Tejashwi said.

“What was there for Bihar in the Union Budget this year? Zero. It is Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who is developing Bihar in his own capacity,” the RJD leader said.

“BJP does not have any leader, all of them are dealers. They are only trying to divide the society on religious lines. I’m the son of Lalu Prasad, who never compromised with the communal forces in his entire life. I will not bend before these forces,” Tejashwi said.

Nitish Kumar will stay as CM in 2025 and 2030 too: Tejashwi Yadav

    [ad_1]

Patna: While his RJD’s leaders are claiming that he will soon become Bihar Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday sought to shoot down all such speculation, saying that Nitish Kumar will not only become the Chief Minister in 2025 but also in 2030.

Talking to media persons in Jahanabad, Tejashwi Yadav said that as long as Nitish Kumar will stay on the post of Chief Minister, his political experience will be enhanced.

“Nitish Ji will stay on the Chief Minister’s post not only in 2025 but also in 2030. His political experience will enhance. Where is the problem?” he said.

“Now, you people (media) would find the meaning of it. He has the capacity to stay on the post of Chief Minister.”

The statement of Tejashwi Yadav came after JD-U national President Lalan Singh said that the CM face of Mahagathbandhan for 2025 assembly poll is not decided yet, while JD-U national General Secretary K.C. Tyagi went a step ahead to say that Nitish Kumar will not only stay as a Chief Minister in 2025 but also in 2030.

“We have only one motive – to remove BJP from the Centre in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. We are working on it. The Mahagathbandhan government is running under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. There is no confusion in it,” Tejashwi Yadav said.

Relations between Nitish, Tejashwi souring after Lalan Singh’s statement?

    [ad_1]

Patna: All doesn’t seem well between Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav, following JD-U President Lalan Singh’s statement that there is no decision on the leader for 2025, as an incident during the Kisan Samagam held in Bapu Sabhagar here on Tuesday indicated.

The programme was scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and Nitish Kumar reached at the right time and sat on the chair reserved for him. There were other ministers and officials present there but the chair for the Deputy CM next to him was empty.

As per the protocol, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has to come well before the Chief Minister but here in Kisan Samagam, Nitish Kumar came at the right time but Tejashwi Yadav did not. Nitish Kumar, from time to time, was soon looking at the entrance to see if Tejashwi Yadav was coming. He once also lost his cool and slammed a farmer who was delivering his suggestion from the dais and using English words.

Tejashwi Yadav finally arrived at the venue at 1 p.m. and sat at the chair reserved for him.

Sources claim Tejashwi Yadav deliberately came late to give a message to Nitish Kumar after the statement of Lalan Singh.

Lalan Singh on Monday claimed that Nitish Kumar will be the Chief Minister till 2025 and the CM face of Mahagathbandhan for 2025 Assembly election has not been decided yet. Following the statement of Lalan Singh, JD-U national General Secretary K.C. Tyagi went a step ahead, telling media persons in Delhi that Nitish Kumar will not only lead Bihar in 2025 but also in 2030 as well.

Lalan Singh’s statement came soon after Upendra Kushwaha resigned from the primary membership of the JD-U, to express his opposition to Nitish Kumar’s announcement that he would hand over his political legacy to Tejashwi Yadav. Nitish Kumar had also announced several times that Tejashwi Yadav will be the CM face of Mahagathbandhan in 2025.

Tejashwi meet Kejriwal to discuss opposition unity

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the national capital on Tuesday to discuss various matters, including opposition unity for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

An RJD spokesperson said that Tejashwi Yadav and Kejriwal discussed current social and political issues as well as state of the economy at the meeting at the latter’s official residence.

“The two leaders also raised concerns over the BJP government which is putting the national assets in the hands of private players. Tejashwi Yadav appeared to all the people to work together to save the country,” the spokeperson said.

The AAP has governments in two states – Delhi and Punjab – as well as some MLAs in Gujarat and Goa. Recently, Kejriwal was seen in Telangana with opposition leaders including state Chief Minister and BRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, and those of the Left parties.
