    Dindori: A priest, a nun as well as the principal and guest teacher of a school in Dindori district in Madhya Pradesh were booked on the complaint of some girl students that they were beaten up and molested, a police official said on Sunday.

    The 40-year-old principal and 35-year-old guest teacher were booked on Saturday night under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code, provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, Dindori Superintendent of Police Sanjay Singh told PTI.

    “The caretaker of the school, who is a 40-year-old priest, has been booked for overlooking the complaints of the girls, while the nun (35) has been charged with beating the girls. Only the principal has been arrested as yet,” he added.

    The school, situated in Junwani, some 60 kilometres from the district headquarters, is run by Jabalpur Diocesan Education Society (JDES) of the Roman Catholic community, he said.

    “Action was taken after MP Child Protection Department members and officials visited the school,” the SP said.

    Jabalpur RC Diocese Bishop Gerald Almeida could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.

    Hyderabad: Taking school-weaved love stories to a new level, a cupid-struck female teacher working at a school in Chandanagar eloped with her student.

    The teacher and student eloped on February 16 and went to Bengaluru. The family of the student complained at the Gachibowli police station and a case of kidnapping was booked while the grandparents of the teacher approached the Chandanagar police where a ‘woman missing’ case was booked.

    The police began enquiry into the missing cases and the investigation was in progress two days later, the teacher and the student returned to their homes. The families approached the police and withdrew their complaint.

    Police probe into the cases revealed the teacher tutors the student at a school in Chandanagar and both of them are in “love” for more than one year. The woman and the boy decided to elope and planned for February 16.

    The police counselled the student and the teacher and let them off.

    Amaravati: The spate of incidents of individuals dying of sudden cardiac arrest while attending their daily chores continued in the Telugu states as a school teacher succumbed in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday while teaching children.

    The latest incident occurred at a government primary school in Vakavari Palem village of Vetapalem mandal in Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh.

    According to locals, P. Veera Babu (45) died sitting in a chair while taking a class. As the teacher suddenly turned motionless, the children alerted other teachers in the school.

    The teachers called 108 ambulance. A healthcare employee in the ambulance checked the pulse of the teacher but he had already succumbed.

    The incident shocked the children. They were not ready to believe that their teacher who was teaching them is no longer with them. The students were seen crying.

    Veera Babu used to come to the school from another village.

    This is the latest in a series of incidents reported over the last two weeks in Telangana.

    On February 28, a man died of cardiac arrest while playing badminton in Hyderabad. Shyam Yadav (38), a private employee collapsed and died on the badminton court while playing the game at Jayashankar Indoor Stadium Lalapet.

    On February 25, a 19-year-old collapsed and died while dancing at a wedding of his relative in Nirmal district.

    Mutyam, a native of Maharashtra, was dancing at the wedding reception of a relative in Pardi Avillage of Kubeer mandal of Nirmal district.

    A 24-year-old police constable died of cardiac arrest while working out at a gym in Hyderabad on February 22.

    On February 20, a man collapsed and died during a Haldi ceremony as part of the wedding of his relative in Hyderabad. The40-year-old man was applying turmeric to the groom when he suddenly collapsed and died before he could be taken to a hospital.

    New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday said that they have arrested middleman Jeetendra Prasad and Delhi government school Hindi teacher Dinesh Singh Kushwaha for allegedly receiving Rs 2.60 crore from an accused involved in Powerbank app (Chinese loan app) case for getting his work done.

    This is the same Chinese app by which Chinese lenders cheated Indian nationals to the tune of Rs 250 crore.

    The two were produced before a special PMLA court which sent them to ED custody till March 3.

    “Cash of Rs 47.5 lakh, forged summons, notices, duplicate official stamps were recovered during searches conducted at the house of Jeetendra Prasad,” the official said.

    Jammu: Two people, including a Madrasa teacher, were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 16-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Sunday.

    The girl, who was pursuing Arabic studies in the Madrasa, was rescued and handed over to her family after completion of legal formalities, a police spokesperson said.

    The main accused Bilal Ahmad of Doda’s Bathari village, who was the ‘moulvi’ (prayer leader) at the religious school, was arrested during the rescue operation in Ramban’s Ramsoo area, the official said.

    Ahmad’s neighbour Riaz Ahmad was also arrested from Doda’s Gandoh village, the spokesperson said.

    The police swung into action after the father of the girl lodged a complaint at the Rakh Amb Talli police post, stating that his daughter had been kidnapped by Ahmad five months ago, the spokesperson said.

    Police registered a case under relevant sections of law and started investigation and ultimately recovered the girl and arrested the accused, the spokesperson said.

    SRINAGAR: A teacher has been suspended for allegedly criticizing policies of the government on social media platforms in the Ramban district.
    According to an order, Joginder Singh, teacher GPS Chanderkote was suspended for criticizing policies of the government on social media platforms.
    The teacher, as per the order, has been attached to the office of chief education officer Ramban and an inquiry committee has also been constituted, which will be headed by additional district development commissioner Ramban to probe the matter.
    “The inquiry committee will initiate an in-depth inquiry and submit a comprehensive report on the matter, along with specific recommendations, by or before March 25,” reads the order.

    J&K govt teacher suspended for Facebook post

     

    Days after Chief Secretary warned employees against misuse of social media, a teacher in J&K’s Ramban district has been suspended for a Facebook post allegedly critical of the government.

    The suspension order to this effect has been issued by District Magistrate Ramban, Mussarat Islam.

    “Pending enquiry and for violations of directions passed by the government regarding criticism of policies of the government by its employees on social media platforms, Joginder Singh, teacher GPS Chanderkote, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect,” the order read.

     

    The order stated that the teacher shall remain attached to the office of the Chief Education Officer, (CEO) Ramban.

    The District Magistrate has also ordered for constitution of an inquiry Committee headed by Additional District Development Commissioner, Ramban to probe the matter.

    The other members of the committee include Chief Education Officer, Ramban, Zonal Education Officer, Batote and Headmaster HS Chanderkote.

    “The Inquiry Committee so constituted shall initiate an indepth enquiry and submit a detailed/ comprehensive report in the matter, along with specific recommendations, by or before March 25 of 2023,” the order read.

    J&K Chief Secretary, during the meeting chaired on February 17 of 2023 directed all Administrative Secretaries for monitoring of social media networks on regular basis and identify government employees criticizing or commenting adversely on government policies and achievements on various social media platforms.

    “Some Facebook posts were found making rounds on social media networks on which the policies and achievements of government were criticized and after securitizing the said Facebook page(s), it has been found that the Facebook account is in the name of person Joginer Singh, who happens to be a Teacher in School Education Department, Ramban, presently posted at GPS Chanderkote, Education Zone Batote,” the order said.

    It read that the report was sought from the CEO Ramban for ascertaining the facts as to whether said Joginder Singh is working as Teacher in School Education Department, District Ramban or otherwise.

    “The Chief Education Officer, Ramban, sought a detailed report from the Zonal Education Officer, Batote regarding the said Facebook page of the aforementioned person and the Zonal Education Officer, Batote, submitted his detailed report to the Chief Education Officer, Ramban and the same was endorsed

    to this office vide No.CEO/R/23/24775-76, dated February 22 of 2023 , by the Chief Education Officer, Ramban,” the suspension order read.

    After perusal of the said report, it has been confirmed that Joginder Singh is presently working as Teacher in GPS Chanderkote and is presently deployed in MS Sawni, Zone Batote, the order reads.

    “It has been revealed that his pay was kept withheld for misuse of social media in 2020 also by the Chief Education Officer, Ramban and the same was released after submission of written apology from the said Teacher,” the order informed.

    “It has been found that the said teacher has posted various posts criticizing and commenting adversely about the Government policies on his Facebook page. Besides, he has concealed his identity and made fake Facebook ID with a profession as socio-political activist and not a Government Teacher,” the order read.

    The order stated that after proper scrutiny of the social network account, it has been found that four Facebook pages are running on the name of the said Teacher and amongst them only in two pages the said teacher has written his designation as Teacher and in others he has written his designation as socio-political activist.

    “The said teacher was transferred from Higher Secondary School Rajgarh to Government Girls Primary School, Chanderkote, during the previous ATD, but the PRIs of Panchayat Kunfer (Chanderkote) objected to his posting in GPS Chanderkote due to his doubtful character,” the order read.
