Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan hits out at KCR

Madurai: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao saying that no protocol was being followed in the state as the CM didn’t meet her in two years.

Speaking to ANI at Madurai airport, the Telangana Governor said, “In Telangana, no protocol is followed. The chief minister has not met me for quite a long time. The constitution says that periodic discussions with the administrators — the chief minister with the governor — are necessary but this doesn’t happen in Telangana at all. For two years I have not met the chief minister. Everyone is putting questions on the governors but no one is questioning the chief ministers.”

“There should be a good relationship between the governor and the chief minister but that is totally lacking in Telangana,” the governor alleged.

Alleging that state ministers stay away from her official visits, Soundararajan added, “I have acted on all the Bills. I had invited the chief minister on several occasions but he did not come — be it festivals or during the Republic Day celebrations. On official visits, too, no local leader comes, no MLA or MP comes, and the chief minister doesn’t come. A governor should be treated like a governor, there is a standard operating procedure.”

Reacting to Tamil Nadu Assembly’s decision to pass a Bill allowing 12-hour work in factories, the Telangana governor said, “My opinion is not a political one but research has found that if we increase the working hours optionally, the resting hours can be increased, thereby enhancing the working potential.”

“I don’t want to comment on the resolution passed by another state,” she added.

Last week, the Tamil Nadu Assembly passed the Factories (Amendment) Act 2023 extending the working hours from eight to 12-hour working hours for factory workers.

The bill would stretch the mandatory working hours to 12 hours from the present 8 hours of duty. Along with the opposition parties, DMK’s ally Congress, Communist Party of India, Marxist Communist Party, Madhyamik Party, Visika and others condemned the Bill and walked out of the Assembly.

Labour Welfare and Skill Development Minister C V Ganesan moved the Bill amid a huge uproar in the Assembly and the Bill was passed through a voice vote.

Hyderabad: Tamilisai urges citizens to learn on spot CPR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: In view of the sharp rise in cases of sudden heart attacks reported in recent times, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has urged that every citizen must learn the technique of performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

Tamilisai participated in the free community hands only-CPR programme at Gandhi Medical College on Friday which emphasized that more people be trained in administering CPR correctly.

“Emphasised timely CPR as FIRST AID on the spot within a time frame called GOLDEN HOUR’S will be life-saving. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation must become a social movement. Everyone should learn it.”, stated the Governor in her tweet.

The workshop will be held for another two days at the medical college’s Alumni Association Building, Gandhi Hospital, Musheerabad.

It saw the participation of over 300 people including students, teachers, policemen and the general public attending day 1 of the free workshop.

Trainer and volunteer from the American Heart Association, Dennis McCauley gave a demonstration to the audience on how to handle a person who has suddenly collapsed before initiating CPR.

Giving a step-by-step demonstration, he said that the first thing to do is to move the suffering person to a safe place followed by checking the person for response (breathing) and lastly initiating CPR immediately if the person does not respond.

Compression during the CPR process is the crucial part, remarked the trainers, adding, “It has to be two fingers above the chest bone and that can be in the middle of the chest. Also, the compressions should be two inches deep and they should be at the rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute.”

The programme was able to render useful information that many participants were unaware of, including those with medical backgrounds.

Performing CPR on an intoxicated person, CPR while the person is still breathing, etc were a few of the doubts the audience raised during the session.

Meanwhile, the alumni association has planned to put up Automated External Defibrillators (AED) at several locations across the city.

  • Ready to take taunts, will work for Telangana people’s welfare: Tamilisai

Ready to take taunts, will work for Telangana people’s welfare: Tamilisai

    [ad_1]

Puducherry: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday said the state government has ‘undervalued’ the importance of the Republic Day and has not held any official function to mark the occasion.

Soundararajan, who is the Lt Governor of Puducherry, voiced concern over violations in observing conventions by the BRS regime in Telangana, which went against the vision of Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution.

The Governor said she was, “fed up with such breaches” and “as the going goes, even if someone spits at me, I will simply wipe off.” Seen as a hint at the strained relationship between the Telangana Raj Bhavan and the state government and taunts hurled at her, the governor said the scenario would not deter her from working for the people’s welfare in the Telugu state.

By not holding any official function, the BRS government has ‘committed violations’ and this necessitated a citizen in the State to move the High Court for relief, she told reporters here on the sidelines of ‘At Home’ reception in Raj Nivas.

The Telangana High Court has also ‘strongly condemned’ the state government for its failure to celebrate the day in the state. “I have however felicitated some persons at Raj Bhavan and gave respect to the national flag before coming to Puducherry,” she said.

Soundararajan, who flew down to Puducherry from Telangana said she had written to the Centre on the developments.

“I keep sending reports to the Centre on several developments in Telangana every month,” she noted.

The Telangana government should have held the ceremonial function at Parade Ground in Hyderabad. “It is amusing that the government has cited coronavirus as the reason for not holding the function in the ground. But a function was held recently with more than five lakh people being present.”

On delay in commencement of the R-Day celebrations in Puducherry, she said, “I am not responsible for this. The flight I was coming to Puducherry could not land on time because of bad weather and only after getting clearance of the Meteorological department did the flight land at Puducherry. I however tender my apology for the delayed start of the celebration.”

She was all praise for the territorial government for holding the Republic day celebrations in a grand manner.
