    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Hours after Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a duo for allegedly stalking and intimidating a girl in Srinagar, Regional Transport Officer has ordered for immediate suspension of the Registration Mark of the two-wheeler used in the commission of the offence.

As per the order issued by Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, RTO Kashmir “In view of the complaints on social media and other verified reports and also in view of the fact that an FIR number 35/2023, Dated 05-03-2023 under Section 341, 506, 509, 294, 354D of IPC has been registered in the Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh Srinagar, I am of the considered opinion that Motor Cycle Without Gear (MCWOG) bearing Registration Mark JK01AG-5814 (Owned by Mr. Peerzada Sajad Arif son of Haji Shareef-u-Din, resident of Kwajapora, Srinagar) has been used in commission of the cognizable offence and an act which is likely to cause nuisance and danger to the public and has, therefore, failed to comply with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and the Rules made there under”, reads an order copy.

“Therefore, in exercise of the powers vested in me under Section 53 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, the Registration Mark JK01AG-5814 is, hereby, suspended with immediate effect”, the order further reads.

The Police in a statement issued earlier, maintained, “On 4-03-2023, a girl was stalked and harassed by two boys, riding a scooty. The boys had made lewd gestures and comments against the girl. The girl had posted about the incident on her social media account and subsequently also approached police post Nehru Park with a written application. On receipt of the complaint, an FIR was lodged under relevant sections of the law in Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station against the accused boys.”

The accused duo was arrested on Sunday and the two-wheeler used by them in the commission of crime also seized by a police team.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Srinagar Dr Aijaz Asad on his official Twitter handle also informed that registration of the two-wheeler has been cancelled.

Reacting over the incident of eve teasing, he said there is zero tolerance for such unlawful behaviour.

“The Registration of scooty bearing Mark JK01AG-5814 linked with Eve-teasing case of yesterday in the Dal Gate area is hereby suspended with immediate effect under Section 53 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. Zero tolerance for such unlawful behaviour,” he tweeted. (GNS)

Maharashtra government suspends licenses of six cough syrup makers for violating rules

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government told the state Legislative Assembly on Friday that the licenses of six manufacturers of cough syrups in the state have been suspended for not following the rules.

Food and Drugs Administration Minister Sanjay Rathod made the statement while replying to a calling attention notice by Ashish Shelar (BJP) and others.

Recently, a cough syrup made by a Noida-based firm was alleged to have caused the death of 18 children in Uzbekistan. Noida police on Friday said they had arrested three employees of the firm.

Rathod said that the Maharashtra government had initiated inquiry against 84 out of 108 manufacturers of cough syrups in the state.

Four of them were directed to stop production while the licences of six companies were suspended, he said.

As many as 17 firms were served show-cause notices for violation of rules, the minister added.

Shelar referred to the deaths of 66 children in Gambia allegedly because of cough syrups imported from India.

But the minister said that the company which was facing the charge of violation of rules in that case was based in Haryana and had no manufacturing unit in Maharashtra.

“We have, however, taken a strict action against the violators of rules. We are ensuring that the World Health Organization’s GMP (good manufacturing practises) certification-related rules and Certificate of Pharmaceutical Products are complied with while exporting products (from the state),” he added.

Presiding officer Sanjay Shirsat said if 20 per cent of manufacturers faced raids because of suspected violation of rules, it needs to be taken very seriously as it was akin to playing with people’s lives.

Rathod said of 996 allopathic drug manufacturers in the state, 514 manufacturers export their products.

  • FATF suspends Russia’s membership over Ukraine war

FATF suspends Russia’s membership over Ukraine war

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The FATF on Friday suspended Russia’s membership for its “illegal, unprovoked and unjustified” full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, an official statement said.

Russia’s actions were “unacceptably run” counter to FATF’s core principles that aims to promote security, safety, and integrity of the global financial system, it said.

One year after Russian’s illegal, unprovoked and unjustified full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, FATF reiterates its deepest sympathies for the people of Ukraine and continues to deplore the huge loss of lives and malicious destruction caused by Russia’s ongoing “brutal attack” on Ukraine, said the statement issued after the FATF plenary held in Paris.

“Strongly condemning” its “war of aggression” against Ukraine, the FATF said over the past year, Russia has “intensified its inhumane and brutal attacks” targeting critical public infrastructure, the statement said.

The global watchdog on terror financing said it is also deeply concerned by the reports of arms trade between Russia and United Nations sanctioned jurisdictions, and malicious cyber-activities emanating from Russia.

Russian’s actions unacceptably run counter to the FATF core principles aiming to promote security, safety, and the integrity of the global financial system and they also represent a gross violation of the commitment to international cooperation and mutual respect upon which FATF members have agreed to implement and support the FATF standards, it said.

“Considering the above, the FATF has decided to suspend the membership of the Russian Federation. The Russian Federation remains accountable for its obligation to implement the FATF standards.

“The Russian Federation must continue to meet its financial obligations. The Russian Federation will remain a member of the Global Network as an active member of the Eurasian Group on Money Laundering (EAG) and retain its rights as an EAG member,” the statement said.

The FATF said it will monitor the situation and consider at each of its plenary meetings whether the grounds exist for lifting or modifying these restrictions.

“The FATF continues to call upon all jurisdictions to remain vigilant of threats to the integrity, safety and security of the international financial system arising from the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine.

“The FATF reiterates that all jurisdictions should be alert to possible emerging risks from the circumvention of measures taken in order to protect the international financial system and take the necessary measures to mitigate these risks,” the statement said.

The FATF said it was expressing its sympathies to the people of Ukraine, who have “borne a terrible burden” at the hands of the Russia’s “war of aggression” and the FATF reflects the thoughts of the “entire international community” in hoping that this is the year that returns them to safety, peace, and prosperity.

  • Putin suspends participation in key nuclear arms treaty

Putin suspends participation in key nuclear arms treaty

    [ad_1]

    aptopix russia putin 89161

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that he is suspending Moscow’s participation in the last remaining nuclear arms control treaty between Russia and the United States.

Russia will halt its participation in the New START Treaty, Putin announced in a lengthy speech to his country’s parliament.

“I am forced to announce today that Russia is suspending its participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty,” he said.

The U.S. recently raised concerns that Russia is not complying with provisions of the treaty, designed to place limits on strategic offensive arms.

The agreement — formally called the treaty between the U.S. and Russia on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms — originally entered into force in 2011, and includes limitations on systems such as intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and nuclear warheads on deployed ICBMs. The deal also includes processes for verification.

Earlier this month, NATO called on the Kremlin to stick to its commitments.

“NATO Allies agree the New START Treaty contributes to international stability by constraining Russian and U.S. strategic nuclear forces,” allies said in a statement.

“Russia’s refusal to convene a session of the Bilateral Consultative Commission (BCC) within the treaty-established timeframe, and to facilitate U.S. inspection activities on its territory since August 2022 prevents the United States from exercising important rights under the Treaty,” the allies said.

“We call on Russia,” the allies added, “to fulfil its obligations.”

On Tuesday, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said he regrets Russia’s decision.

“Over the last years, Russia has violated and walked away from key arms control agreements,” he said at a press conference.

“With today’s decision on New START, the whole arms control architecture has been dismantled,” the NATO chief added. “I strongly encourage Russia to reconsider its decision and to respect existing agreements.”

The U.S.’ top diplomat also condemned Putin’s move.

“Russia’s announcement that it is suspending its participation in New Start is very disappointing and irresponsible,” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters at the U.S. Embassy in Athens. “But of course we remain ready to discuss the limitation of strategic arms at any time with Russia regardless of anything that happens in the world or in our relations.”
