Telangana: WhatsApp chats analysed in PG medico’s attempted suicide case

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Warangal Police Commissioner AV Ranganath said that WhatsApp chats have been analysed in the PG medical student D Preethi’s attempted suicide case.

He said that officials have analysed the WhatsApp chats which revealed that the accused resorted to targeted harassment of Dr. Preethi to insult her.

“The intelligent and brave girl, who attended the UPSC interview in the past, expressed her anguish over his “bossism” and “persistent harassment” through WhatsApp chats. She looked up what could happen if a healthy person takes certain anesthesia drugs on Google. This could be considered an attempt to commit suicide,” he said.

He however added that it was too early to come to a conclusion at this juncture.

The official further said, “We are awaiting toxicology report from NIMS hospital which will help ascertain the facts.”

The Warangal police on Friday arrested Dr. MA Saif, a second-year post-graduate medical student of the Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) in connection with the alleged suicide attempt by Dr. D Preethi.

A V Ranganath said that Dr. Saif was arrested based on a complaint filed by the father of Dr. Preethi under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Section 4 of the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act. Saif was remanded to judicial custody.

The victim’s father Narender, an ASI in the Railway Protection Force (RPF) lodged a complaint against Dr. Saif at Matwada police station accusing him of persistently harassing his daughter.

The police booked Dr. Saif on charges of instigating Preethi to attempt suicide by subjecting her to constant harassment by posting “insulting comments” about her on the WhatsApp groups managed by some of the PG medical first and second year students of the KMC.

Ranganath referring to some unsubstantiated allegations being circulated on social media said there is no laxity on the part of the police in attending to the complaint filed by Dr. Preethi’s father. An impartial and discrete investigation is underway into the case, he told reporters.

Another Kota coaching student commits suicide, says ‘Sorry mom’ in suicide note

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: Another coaching student in Rajasthan’s Kota committed suicide by hanging himself, police said on Friday.

The incident took place in Kunhadi area of the city, which is a hub for students preparing for various competitive examinations, on Wednesday night.

Abhishek, 17, a resident of UP’s Badaun, UP, was living in a Kota hostel for the last two years and was preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). He was not going to coaching for some time but was taking online classes from the hostel itself.

Police officials said that it was reported at 9 p.m. on Thursday that a student was not opening a room in Datar Residency for nearly 24 hours.

“We went to the spot and broke the door of the room. The student was found hanging from a noose. A suicide note has been found from the room.”

In the suicide note, Abhishek wrote: “I am apologising to you. I came to Kota on my own free will. No one pressurised me. Sorry Didi, Mummy Sorry Bhai, Sorry friends. Forgive me, I have lost. That’s why I want to die.”

On receiving information about Abhishek’s suicide, father Aram Singh reached Kota on Friday morning. He said parents know how they raise children and teach them, but the coaching institutes “discriminate”.

“That’s why children are committing suicide. Why is such a situation arising? What is the atmosphere that children are committing suicide,” he questioned.

Aram Singh said that there is pressure from coaching institutes but there is no pressure from parents. “My son never told that he was upset. He used to keep stress to himself.

“Had I known that he will commit suicide, I would have taken it from here before. I say that the government should pay attention. The government should formulate a policy, so that the incident of suicide in our society is stopped.”

Five suicide cases have come to fore in just last two months in Kota.

MP: Court orders registration of FIR in Dalit youth suicide case

    [ad_1]

Indore: A special court in Indore has ordered registration of a First Information Report in connection with the February 2022 suicide of a 21-year-old Dalit man due to alleged police torture.

The family of the deceased had alleged that he was tortured by police as he was in love with a Brahmin girl and eloped with her.

Police allegedly refused to probe the suicide, so the family moved a special court for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act cases, said the family’s lawyer Neeraj Kumar Soni.

Special judge Manoj Kumar Tiwari earlier this month ordered the Scheduled Castes welfare police station here to register a case and submit a report after probe, Soni said.

Badia, a B Com student, left home along with his Brahmin girlfriend on February 9, 2022, with the intention of getting married, as per the complaint.

Police sub-inspector Vikas Sharma, posing as the girl’s uncle, visited his house on the same day and threatened the family members using casteist words, the complaint said.

Sharma called Akash to Chandan Nagar police station on February 10, 2022, and beat him up inside an ambulance parked on the police station premises, it alleged.

The police official allegedly warned him that if he married the woman, he would be implicated in rape and drug cases and spend his whole life in jail.

Akash allegedly hanged himself at home on February 16, 2022.

A note on his mobile phone accused Vikas Sharma and another official of the Chandan Nagar Police Station of being responsible for his death.

Despite the family’s complaint, no suicide case was registered, the complaint alleged.
