Andhra Pradesh police arrest employee who stole 4.5 kg gold from shop

Kovvuru: An employee of a shop who allegedly stole 4.5 kg gold worth more than Rs 1.1 crore was arrested, police said here on Saturday.
Sessetti Ramu, who was employed by Santhilal Jain in Kovvuru town of East Godavari district, had stolen the gold and most of them have been recovered, police said.
“We received a tipoff that the accused person was at Kotipalli bus station in Rajamundry. We arrested him and managed to recover 1,389 grams of gold,” police said in a statement.

Police also managed to recover 3 kg more gold which Ramu had pawned with other pawnbrokers locally.
Owing to old age, Jain had relied on Ramu to take care of the major transaction in his business. On discovering that a large quantity of gold was missing, Jain’s family lodged a complaint with police on Sunday and Ramu was arrested today.

Hackers stole data in network security breach: Western Digital

New Delhi: Data storage leader Western Digital said on Monday that cyber-criminals exfiltrated data from its systems during a “network security incident”.
On March 26, Western Digital had identified a network security incident involving its systems.
In connection with the ongoing incident, an unauthorised third party gained access to a number of the company’s systems. Upon discovery of the incident, the company implemented response efforts and initiated an investigation with the assistance of leading outside security and forensic experts.

“This investigation is in its early stages and Western Digital is coordinating with the law enforcement authorities,” it said in a statement.
The company said it is implementing proactive measures to secure its business operations, including taking systems and services offline, and will continue taking additional steps as appropriate.
As part of its remediation efforts, Western Digital is actively working to restore impacted infrastructure and services.
“While Western Digital is focused on remediating this security incident, it has caused and may continue to cause disruption to parts of the company’s business operations,” it said.

PM Modi gifts Meghalaya Stole, Nagaland Shawl to German Chancellor

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday gifted a ‘Meghalaya Stole’ and a ‘Nagaland Shawl’ to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz who is on a two-day visit to India.
Meghalaya stoles were originally woven for the Khasi and Jaintia royalty, who considered them as a symbol of their power and status.
The weaving of Meghalaya stoles has been passed down through generations with a rich history.
Also, the shawls woven for centuries by the tribes in Nagaland are known for their vibrant colours, intricate designs, and the use of traditional weaving techniques, which have been passed down from generation to generation.
