Secunderabad railway station platform number 10 to stay shut on April 8

Hyderabad: Due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Secunderabad Railway Station on Saturday to flag off the Vande Bharat Express Train from Secunderabad to Tirupati, platform number 10 will be closed for passenger movement, as well as facilities such as ticket booking, catering stalls, and waiting halls.
Railway authorities stated that the limitations will be in effect from Friday 12 a.m. until Saturday 1 p.m. Parking for two-wheelers and four-wheelers will also be restricted during this period.
Railway authorities have asked that citizens be aware of the change and arrange their journey appropriately.

Srinagar, April 5 : Hours after fleeing from police station in Baramulla, two accused persons, “affiliates” of Lashker-e-Toiba, were re-arrested in the north Kashmir district on Wednesday evening officials said.
A top police officer confirmed to GNS the re-arrest of the duo, Maroof Nazir Soleh of Kanlibagh and Shahid Showkat Bala of Banglowbagh. The duo had managed their way during Sehri time from the police station. A police officer told GNS that a case has already been registered under relevant sections of law.
The duo had been earlier arrested in connection with a blast on a wine shop in Dewan Bagh in Baramulla last year. (GNS)

Secunderabad rly station to get airport-like facelift at Rs 719 cr

Hyderabad: The Secunderabad railway station is all set to get a mega facelift as the station will be revamped with state-of-the-art facilities worth Rs 719 crore.
The project budget was initially set at around Rs 650 crore. However, it has now been increased to Rs 719 crore to meet global standards and provide airport-level facilities to passengers.
Union minister Kishan Reddy on his Twitter handle announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Secunderabad railway station on April 8.

With seamless transfers from one mode to another, adequate parking, convenient pickup and drop-off areas, and decongestion of the circulating area have been revamped for the benefit of passengers.
New measures further aim to generate business opportunities and revenue.
The redevelopment project will include the construction of a new station building on the existing north side with G+3 floors (22,516 sq metres) and the extension of the existing south-side building with G+3 floors (14,792 sq metres).
A double-story sky concourse of 108 metres in width will also be constructed, with the first tier serving passengers and the second tier serving the public as a rooftop plaza.
Construction of five levels parking lot on the north side and a separate underground parking lot on the south side is also included in the project.

Existing platforms will be renovated and upgraded to match the new station ambience, including fully covered platforms with the inclusion of a solar power plant with a capacity of 5000 KVP.

Hyderabad: HMR opens 4th arm of Raidurg metro station

Hyderabad: The opening of the fourth arm of Raidurg metro station, Arm – B, was announced here on Monday thus reducing commuter traffic during peak hours.
In a press release, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (L&TMRHL) announced that the new arm has a staircase and escalator equipped to handle over 60k commuters on a daily basis, catering majorly to the IT crowd.
“We are happy to dedicate the fourth arm of the Raidurg metro station to the public. With this now the commuters would have an additional option to access the station conveniently and gain enhanced experience with Hyderabad Metro Rail,” managing director of HMRL N V S Reddy said.

HMR continues to prioritize the needs of metro commuters and remains dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation solutions, he said.

Kyiv and Berlin slam Putin’s plan to station nuclear weapons in Belarus

Officials in Kyiv and Berlin condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement that Moscow would station tactical nuclear weapons in neighboring Belarus.
The Kremlin “took Belarus as a nuclear hostage,” Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, tweeted on Sunday.
Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office, added that the move was a violation of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, something that Putin denied in his announcement on Saturday. Podolyak tweeted that Putin “is afraid of losing & all he can do is scare [us] with tactics.”
Putin said on Saturday that Russia would construct a storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus by July. He likened the plans to the U.S. stationing its nuclear weapons in Europe, and said Russia would retain control of the nuclear arms stationed in Belarus.
“The United States has been doing this for decades,” Putin was quoted as saying. “They deployed their tactical nuclear weapons long ago on the territories of their allies, NATO countries, in Europe,” he said.
Saturday evening, the German Federal Foreign Office told national media that the decision was akin to a “further attempt at nuclear intimidation.”
“The comparison made by President Putin on the nuclear participation of NATO is misleading and cannot serve to justify the step announced by Russia,” the Foreign Office was quoted as saying.
The Biden administration in the U.S. said it would “monitor the implications” of Putin’s announcement but would not adjust its nuclear weapons strategy.

“We have not seen any reason to adjust our own strategic nuclear posture nor any indications Russia is preparing to use a nuclear weapon,” National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said. “We remain committed to the collective defense of the NATO alliance.”
Russia used Belarus as a staging ground to send troops into Ukraine for Putin’s invasion. And Moscow and Minsk have maintained close military ties as the Kremlin continues its war on Ukraine.

X-rated clip at Patna station: GRP team reaches Kolkata to probe the incident

Patna: Three days after passengers at the Patna railway station were surprised when the TV screens installed on the platforms reportedly played X-rated clip for almost three minutes instead of the usual advertisements, a team of General Railway Police (GRP) went to Kolkata from Patna on Wednesday to investigate the incident.
The team will quiz the officials of Dutta Communications, the company assigned to play advertisements and information on the television screens of the Patna railway station. The office and studio of Dutta Communications are located in Kolkata.
After the incident on Sunday, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Danapur division terminated the contract of Dutta Communication and placed it on the black list.
The railway authorities have registered two FIRs against the company officials under the IT Act in Patna.
The X-rated clip was telecast on dozens of LED screens on Platform No. 10 on March 19 for almost three minutes, leading to passengers waiting for trains facing an awkward and embarrassing situation.

Hyderabad: 462 vehicles to be auctioned at Moinabad police station

Hyderabad: Police will hold a public auction of 462 vehicles of different types at the Moinabad Police station Ground of Cyberabad Commissionerate.
As permitted by sections 6(2) and 7 of the Cyberabad (Metropolitan area) Police Act, 2004, along with sections 40 and 41 of the Hyderabad City Police Act, it is recommended to dispose of these cars by public auction.
“Anyone with an objection or ownership/hypothecation interest may submit an application to the Cyberabad Commissionerate’s Commissioner of Police and request the vehicle within six months of receiving notice; otherwise, the vehicles would be sold at auction,” said a press release here on Monday.

Porn clip played at Patna railway station for 3 mins

Patna: Hundreds of passengers waiting to board trains at the Patna railway station faced an awkward situation when a porn clip played at all the TV screens installed across the 10 platforms for three minutes.
The incident took place on Sunday night.
The contract for telecasting videos and films on the railway stations of the Danapur division is given to a private company.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials immediately contacted them and stopped the telecast.
Confirming the incident, Prabhat Kumar, official spokesperson of the DRM office in Danapur, said: “We have initiated an inquiry into the incident and started the process of cancellation of contract. We have registered an FIR against the company officials… It is an intolerable incident. We will blacklist this company.”
Sources said that a similar incident had also occurred on Sunday morning in the same railway station.
