Church of North India in Delhi to spread message of Yamuna rejuvenation

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Priests of some churches in Delhi have decided to join hands to aid the efforts towards rejuvenation of the Yamuna river, following an appeal by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, officials said on Saturday.

This will prove to be a shot in the arm for the mission to clean the Yamuna as priests of several temples and imams of mosques in the city have already joined the initiative by the LG to help clean the river and remove garbage dumps in Delhi, they said.

The Church of North India (CNI) diocese of Delhi on Saturday issued an appeal asking all the presbyters, deacons, evangelists and ordinands to spread the message of Yamuna rejuvenation and solid waste management during the Sunday service at the churches.

    MS Education Academy

“Committed and concerted goal-oriented efforts made by Lt Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena show positive results. He has appealed to the people of Delhi as indeed the Church to support the efforts being undertaken in rejuvenating the Yamuna and flattening the shameful mountains of waste situated in the Capital,” read the appeal issued by the bishop of the diocese of Delhi Paul Swarup.

Saxena heads the high-level committees formed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to deal with the issues of Yamuna pollution and solid waste management in the city.

The churches will appeal to the people to segregate dry and wet garbage, not throw waste in the Yamuna, recycle and reuse, and avoid dumping garbage in drains.

Following concerted and targeted efforts by the Delhi LG and his appeal to the people of Delhi to proactively participate in these efforts, varied groups and organisations have begun to rise to the occasion.

Imams of several mosques made similar appeals to the people during the Friday prayers.

In April, a training session chaired by the LG was conducted in which 500 temple priests were urged to act as change makers to educate people to stop dumping puja materials and other such items like idols and calendars into the Yamuna.

Disinformation being spread to stop India’s progress towards becoming ‘vishwaguru’: Bhagwat

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said misconceptions and distorted information were being spread about India to slow down its progress towards becoming a ‘vishwaguru’.

Speaking at a function in Mumbai, Bhagwat said such misconceptions were spread about the country post 1857 (after the First War of Independence) but such elements got a befitting reply from Swami Vivekanand.

These misconceptions were being spread to slow down our progress as “nobody in the world can argue with us on the basis of logic,” he added.

“We are going to be a vishwaguru in the next 20-30 years. For that, we need to prepare at least two generations who will experience the change,” Bhagwat said.

India had achieved a lot over the years but distorted information was being spread globally, to counter which the country needs to prepare it generations and also to attract “good people in the world towards us”, Bhagwat said.

“Post 1857, some misconceptions were spread against us. It was Swami Vivekanand who gave a befitting reply to those who looked down upon us,” said the RSS chief.

Perverted narrative on history and Hindutva being spread, need to speed up efforts to check it: RSS

    [ad_1]

Samalkha: Claiming that many have tried to “distort” the history of India and Hindutva over the years, the RSS has resolved to speed up measures to bring a change in the narrative and restore the country’s prestige.

The assertion came at the conclusion of the three-day annual meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), the highest decision-making body of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Tuesday.

“Over the past 50 years, many have tried to present our distorted history. Some people have tried to distort Indian thoughts and Indian philosophy within the country and abroad. Efforts have been made to talk nonsense about Hindutva, raising some issues,” RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said at a press conference.

He accepted that there are “some drawbacks in our society like untouchability.”

“But just raising them doesn’t help,” he said, adding, “the narrative of the country must change. There should be Indian answers to Indian questions, whatever be the situation in India. We have to place India in a respectful position.”

Evils like caste discrimination and untouchability have to be done away with in society, he said.

Hosabale was briefing about the RSS meeting attended by nearly 1400 office bearers of the Sangh including the organisation’s chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Even as the journey towards a new self-reliant Bharat’ has begun shunning the “colonial slavery”, the country will have to face many social and national challenges due to “the mentality and distortions” arising during its long history and also due to “the crookedness of selfish, anti-national elements,” noted an annual report presented by Hosabale at the meeting.

“The forces inimical to Bharat’s unity and progress plan newer conspiracies. They are trying to break society in one way or another or to spread confusion by disseminating perverted narratives on the subjects of the country,” it claimed.

Such inimical forces are instigating language, caste or group discord by using “any situation or event” as an excuse and “inciting” youths against “any government scheme like Agnipath”, the report added.

“Ugly incidents of terror, rancour, anarchy and violence have happened at various places,” the report said, adding such incidents need to be stopped.

“We have to speed up the work . we have to give national direction to ideological narratives and properly mobilise the power of Sajjan Shakti or well-meaning people,” the report added.

With the RSS completing 100 years of its establishment in 2025, the ABPS also resolved to “speed up” its work to achieve the organisation’s centenary year expansion targets with a focus on five main areas.

These were listed ad bringing about social transformation and social harmony in “Hindu society” or Samajik Samarasata, strengthening family structure (Parivar Prabodhan), environmental protection, Swadeshi lifestyle, awareness of civic duty,” Hosabale said.

“Be it unitary or a joint family, the efforts have to be taken to keep family values intact in line with the Hindu thoughts,” he added.

  • Sole Motive Of NYT To Spread Propaganda: Anurag Thakur

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Anurag Thakur, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, alleged on Friday that The New York Times was disseminating falsehoods about India. He characterized an opinion article published by the newspaper on press freedom in Kashmir as deceptive and imaginary.

“New York Times had long back dropped all pretensions of neutrality while publishing anything about India. NYT‘s so-called opinion piece on freedom of press in Kashmir is mischievous and fictitious, published with a sole motive to spread a propaganda about India and its democratic institutions and values,” Thakur remarked on Twitter.

“This is in continuation with what NYT and a few other link-minded foreign media have been spreading lies about India and our democratically elected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Such lies can’t last long,” the minister added

Thakur’s  rebuttal was prompted by the publication of an opinion piece in a US-based newspaper, which made allegations about restrictions on the free flow of information in Kashmir.

“Some foreign media nourishing a grudge against India and our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have long been systematically trying to peddle lies about our democracy and pluralistic society,” Thakur said. He said freedom of press in India is as sacrosanct as other fundamental rights.

“Democracy in India and We the people are very mature and we don’t need to learn grammar of democracy from such agenda-driven media,” he said.

“Indians will not allow such mindsets to run their decisive agenda on India soil,” the minister said.

  • BJP spread rumours about attacks on Bihari migrants in Tamil Nadu: JD(U)

BJP spread rumours about attacks on Bihari migrants in Tamil Nadu: JD(U)

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) on Thursday charged the BJP with spreading “rumours” of attacks on migrant workers in Tamil Nadu with an eye on “electoral gains”.

JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan also said that though his party did not favour criticising the country on foreign soil, it felt that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was well within his rights to express his anxieties about “threats to democracy in India” during his Cambridge tour.

“It has turned out that nothing had happened in Tamil Nadu. And just look at the people who have been booked and arrested for spreading rumours”, said the JD(U) chief, referring to cases being lodged against a number of BJP leaders by the DMK government in the southern state.

“So, this is the character of the BJP. Rumour-mongering, and coercion of parties opposed to it, all for electoral gains. But it is making a mistake. People of the country are now conscious enough to see through their designs”, said the JD(U) president, whose party snapped ties with the saffron party less than a year ago.

Asked about the controversy triggered by Rahul Gandhi’s remarks abroad, Lalan, whose party is now aligned with the Congress, said “we believe the problems in the country are best discussed on the home soil, which offers a very large stage. We do not think one’s own country should be criticised on foreign soil”,

The JD(U) national president, however, hastened to add “we also hold that Rahul Gandhi is well within his rights to express his anxieties about the threats to democracy in India. And the threats are, indeed, real. This is a fact borne out by the Supreme Court’s recent judgement on the appointment of Election Commissioners”.

He also sought to make light of speculations that Chirag Paswan, a known detractor of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Upendra Kushwaha, who recently rebelled against the JD(U) supreme leader and quit the party, were likely to join the BJP-led NDA.

“Just recall the 2015 assembly polls when these people were very much with the BJP. They performed dismally”, Lalan said referring to the high-decibel elections which saw the NDA being trounced by the Mahagathbandhan'(Grand Alliance) that had come into being with Nitish Kumar, RJD chief Lalu Prasad and the Congress joining hands.

He also said that the BJP’s jod tod’ (attempts to split other parties) was at work in Nagaland where the lone JD(U) MLA ended up offering support to the newly formed government of which the saffron party was a part.

“Since we hold that we can have no relationship with the BJP, we held the Nagaland unit guilty of gross indiscipline and decided to dissolve it. The BJP had earlier broken away our MLAs in Arunachal, too. In Bihar, they wanted to do to us what they had succeeded in doing in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. But we got wind of their plans in time”, alleged Lalan, referring to last year’s upheaval.

“The BJP has no scruples. Its sole concern is power. Just look at Meghalaya where they had been accusing the government of being the most corrupt. Now the same dispensation has returned to power and the BJP’s top leaders flew down to attend the oath-taking ceremony”, said the JD(U) chief.

“The BJP has had no achievement to showcase despite having been in power at the Centre for so many years. Everywhere it keeps talking about the Ujjwala Yojana, which has been a failure as expensive gas cylinders make it impossible for beneficiaries to go in for a refill. Another scheme they rave about is the Ayushman Bharat. They should release data of how many people have benefited from the promise of Rs five lakh health insurance cover”, demanded the JD(U) president.

The BJP is also trying to shy away from the demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee to look into allegations against the Adani group which is being accused of the biggest corporate fraud in history, the JD(U) chief said.

“On the other hand, it keeps harassing its opponents through vindictive use of agencies like CBI, ED and Income Tax department”, he alleged.

Russia | The fish stick scam spread to Sweden – Findus, who had been hiding in Finland, finally admitted the origin of th

    [ad_1]

The S group and Kesko do not say whether they will continue to sell fish sticks containing Russian fish.

Swedish people the food giants broke their boycott promise, writes the newspaper Dagens Nyheter in its extensive article published on Saturday.

DN began to investigate the origin of Swedish fish sticks After the news of HS two weeks ago, that a large part of the fish sticks sold in Finnish shops are made from Russian fish.

The situation in Sweden is similar to Finland. DN’s in the report five of Sweden’s largest retail chains admitted that the raw material for fish sticks comes at least partly from Russian waters, despite the fact that the companies had said they would boycott Russian products.

Only Sweden’s Lidl initially told DN that there is no Russian fish in their selection. The company changed its statement after hearing that Finland’s Lidl had already admitted to HS that more than half of the raw material comes from Russian waters.

The corrected statement adapted the statement received from Finland: most of the fish comes from Russia, after which it is processed in China or South Korea and sent to other countries.

Russian according to the state fisheries authority, Russian boats caught almost five million tons of fish and shellfish last year. Almost half of the catch was exported and some of the most important buyer countries are within the EU, according to the authority.

However, none of the fish stick packages contain the name of Russia, as the country of origin is marked as the country where the fish is made from the stick. The origin of the fish is only indicated by the number of the fishing area, which may be stated on the package.

A large part of the fish sticks eaten by Nordic people come from Findus packages. Findus is originally a Swedish company, which in 2015 was transferred to Europe’s largest frozen food manufacturer Nomad Foods.

“Our contracts and volumes are commercially sensitive, so we cannot go into details.”

of Findus The Finnish country manager did not respond to HS’s interview requests, even though eight of them were sent over the course of two weeks, some of them through other employees of the company. He could not be reached from the office either.

DN received a written statement from Findus’ Nordic director of marketing and responsibility From Henrik von Lowzow. He refused to say exactly how much of the fish the company uses is of Russian origin, but admitted that the company is dependent on Russian fish.

“Our contracts and volumes are commercially sensitive, so we cannot go into details, but up to 75 percent of the most popular fish varieties used by many brands and retailers, including seine, cod, haddock and wild-caught salmon, are caught in Russian waters. Therefore, this is a huge challenge for the entire industry, not just for us,” the email stated.

Von Lowzow emphasized that the company is shocked by Russia’s attack on Ukraine and is trying to find alternatives to Russian fish.

President Vladimir Putin watched the inauguration ceremony of the new trawler in St. Petersburg in July 2021. The Russian state finances the reform of the fishing industry and the fight against sanctions.

in Finland both S-group and Kesko announced shortly after the outbreak of the Russian invasion that they would remove Russian products from store shelves.

HS made a new round of inquiries to domestic retail chains two weeks after the Russian origin of Findus’ fish was highlighted in HS’s article.

Ketju was asked if there had been discussions with Findus and if there were any changes to the menus.

Both the S group and Kesko said that Findus has been contacted, but they do not open up the discussions in more detail. The chains also do not say whether they intend to continue selling the products.

Lidl Finland’s communication says that there are no immediate measures to be taken regarding the selection, but the company is currently mapping out alternatives.
