Sports Authority of India through its Academic wing NS NIS Patiala is Inviting online applications from the candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria for admission to the six weeks certificate course In sports coaching in various sports disciplines from 8th May to 28th June 2023. The last date for submission of application is 25-4-2023 and publication of selection list is 5-5-2023 before the SAI. The prescribed fee for the entire duration of the six weeks certificate course is Rs. 22,400/- which includes lodging boarding and other miscellaneous expenses. The minimum eligibility criteria of educational qualification & sports acheivements is 10+2 with any of the first three places in the championship / tournament conducted by District Association of the concerned sports discipline and maximum academic qualification and sports achievement is Masters Degree in Physical Education / Sports with participation at Sr. National level / Junior International level. The age limit of applicant should be 20-42 years as on 8-5-2023 with relaxation upto five years to the reserved category

J&K Sports Council shall afford Course fee of the selected candidates for pursuing the Six Weeks Certificate Course in Sports Coaching in following disciplines to the extent of number as shown against each purely on merit basis.

The selected candidates shall seek re-imbursement of course fee before the respective Divisional Sports Officers J&K Sports Council at New Indoor Sports Complex M.A. Stadium Jammu and Pologround Play Field Srinagar after completion of course and submit course completion certificate along with fee receipt. Meanwhile interested eligible candidate(s) desirous to seek admission to six weeks certificate course should apply online on the registration portal at https://www.6wcc.nsnis.in before the last date prescribed In the notification

Sports Has Taken Over Militancy In JK: DGP Dilbagh Singh

SRINAGAR: Dilbagh Singh, Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) on Monday that sports have become more popular than militancy in the state.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a football tournament here, DGP Singh, as per news said that at present there is a low count of militancy as sports have taken over militancy in the UT. “Youth and Children are taking part in sports in large numbers. They are pursuing careers in studies and participating in competitive exams,” DGP said.

He said that police are working hard to provide a more peaceful atmosphere to children and youth so that they can further participate in the sports of their choice and choose their careers in the fields of their choice. The DGP said that the police will help make peace a permanent feature so that youth and children can excel in the fields of their choice.

To query whether police will assist the Punjab police in the Amritpal Singh case, the DGP said J&K police will provide all possible help to Punjab police wherever they would need. “Some cases are being jointly probed by Punjab and J&K police,” he said.

LG Manoj Sinha said that the J & K administration has spent huge amounts to upgrade the sports infrastructure across the UT. On Sunday, he said that the government land retrieved will be used to build sports infrastructure including play fields so that youth can play sports in their native areas. (KNO)

Srinagar, Mar 20: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Monday said that the youth in the UT are taking part in sports activities and the sports count has taken over militancy in J&K.

Applications on prescribed forms are invited from the domiciles of UT of J&K / Ladakh for determination of sports merit desirous to seek admission in NEET MD/MS/PG Diploma & MDS Courses for the session 2022-23 under Sports quota in terms of letter No: JKBOPEE/Exam10/2023 dated: 10-03-2023 from J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations.

The forms duly numbered are available on payment of Rs 200/- in the office of Sports Officer (K), J&K Sports Council, Polo Ground, Srinagar & Sports Officer (J) J&K Sports Council, New Indoor Sports Complex. M.A. Stadium, Jammu from 15-03-2023 to 25-03-2023 during office hours.

The candidate who fulfill the following qualification/condition as prescribed in Government order No: 808-GAD of 2008 dated: 17-06-2008, 946-GAD of

Higher Edu Institutions Must Promote Sports As ‘Core Subject’: LG

Jammu, March 15 (GNS): Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated Chancellor’s trophy at University of Jammu today. More than 550 sportspersons from various universities are participating in the three-day mega sports event ‘Sauhard’.

The Lt Governor called upon the Higher Education institutions to promote sports as a core subject. Sports is a powerful medium to ensure physical-emotional health, enhances learning efficiency & helps in character building, he added.

“Sports nurtures both mind & body and enables students to become well-rounded across disciplines. National Education Policy has given us an opportunity to promote Sports through multidisciplinary system and end fragmentation in education system,” said the Lt Governor.

Citing various reports and studies on the impact of sports on the mind of an individual, the Lt Governor said the researchers considered Sports as a miracle for the brain. It is important that sports should be a part of our curriculum, he noted.

Highlighting the initiatives taken for holistic development of youth, the Lt Governor said, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National Education Policy is creating a progressive ecosystem for the students to translate their dreams into reality.

“Prime Minister’s vision for FIT India, Khelo India, National Education Policy, start-up opportunities, is building a strong foundation for India’s future,” said the Lt Governor.

The Lt Governor also pointed out that Sports was deeply rooted in the ancient education system.

Our Gurukuls had emphasized using Sports as a tool to enable socio-economic change, he said.

The Lt Governor encouraged the youth to follow in the footsteps of prominent personalities who achieved excellence in both academics and sports.

“Nothing is Impossible. You can achieve excellence in any field with your hard-work, dedication, right guidance and can build your future with your individuality and independent thinking,” said the Lt Governor.

Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor reiterated the commitment of the administration to providing all necessary facilities to sportspersons and making J&K a sporting powerhouse.

Prof Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, Jammu University said that the University of Jammu, being one of the partners for hosting the Pre-Summit of G-20 Group of Countries, has taken an initiative to organise an inter-University Sports Competition for the Chancellor’s Trophy-2023 to promote brotherhood among students and scholars of the various Universities and to build trust and social harmony.

From the ensuing academic session, students can pursue two academic programmes simultaneously as per the UGC guidelines, he added.

Chancellor’s Trophy is being held under the initiative “My Youth My Pride” to promote the concept of NEP 2020 which envisages sports as part of the curriculum and lays emphasis on sports-integrated learning and as a skill for a quality life, it was informed.

Participants will compete in various sports disciplines like Basketball, Cricket, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Table Tennis.

BBC sports coverage disrupted for second day over Gary Lineker Twitter row

London: The BBC’s sports coverage faced a second day of disruption on Sunday as several members of its staff refused to work in solidarity with star football host Gary Lineker, who was taken off air over a tweet criticising the British government’s migration policy.

In a post on Tuesday on his Twitter account that has 8.7 million followers, 62-year-old Lineker a former England football captain and now one of the UK’s most influential media figures compared Rishi Sunak government’s language about migrants to that used in Nazi Germany.

He has not tweeted or commented since the row erupted but the broadcaster’s decision to block him from its flagship “Match of the Day” football show triggered mass walkouts by staff in solidarity.

Regular sport programmes that were due to be on-air have been replaced with previously aired episodes and some fixtures are to be telecast without the regular supporting expert commentary.

Tim Davie, the BBC’s director-general, apologised for the disruption and exuded hope that Lineker would be back on air soon.

“We are working very hard to resolve this situation and make sure we get output on air,” Davie told the BBC.

“I am in listening mode. I want to make sure that going forward we have a workable solution. To be clear, success for me is: Gary gets back on air,” he said.

There is mounting pressure on the top team to resolve the crisis after the BBC, which operates through a taxpayer-funded licence fee, said it considered Lineker posting such views on social media as a breach of its impartiality guidelines.

UK Chancellor Jeremy Hunt told Sky News that he “profoundly” disagrees with Lineker’s comments, but stopped short of demanding an apology.

“If you believe in BBC independence, then it’s not for the Chancellor or any other government minister to say how these issues are resolved,” said Hunt.

“The central thing that people want to know is that there isn’t any kind of political agenda in the way the BBC goes about its business, which I’m not saying there is, but that is the confidence people need to have,” he added.

The Conservative government attacked Lineker’s Nazi comparison of a planned illegal migrant crackdown as unacceptable, with UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman among the ministers who branded it “offensive”.

“I think it is, from a personal point of view, to hear that characterisation is offensive because my husband is Jewish, my children are therefore direct descendants from people who were murdered in gas chambers during the Holocaust,” Braverman told the BBC in the wake of the row earlier this week.

“To kind of throw out those kind of flippant analogies diminishes the unspeakable tragedy that millions of people went through and I don’t think anything that is happening in the UK today can come close to what happened in the Holocaust. So, I find it a lazy and unhelpful comparison to make,” she said.

This is the latest controversy over the role of the 100-year-old BBC after the broadcaster’s neutrality came under recent scrutiny over revelations that its chairman, Richard Sharp a donor for the governing Conservative Party was involved in the arrangement of a loan for the then Prime Minister Boris Johnson in 2021, weeks before he was appointed to the BBC post on the government’s recommendation.
