  • Parkash Singh Badal was secular, nationalist, says his son and SAD chief Sukhbir

Parkash Singh Badal was secular, nationalist, says his son and SAD chief Sukhbir

    [ad_1]

Badal: Shiromani Akali Dal patriarch Parkash Singh Badal was a nationalist and secularist who respected all religions and spread the message of peace, harmony and mutual brotherhood, his son and party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal said on Thursday.

Addressing a gathering at the “bhog” ceremony, Sukhbir Badal sought forgiveness for “whatever mistakes that may have been committed, inadvertently or otherwise, in the past” by him or his family.

The Akali leader thanked people, leaders across the political spectrum and religious leaders for sharing grief with his family following the death of the SAD patriarch and five-time former Punjab chief minister on April 25.

    MS Education Academy

Badal, 95, had not been keeping well and was admitted to the Fortis Hospital in Mohali on April 16 after he complained of uneasiness while breathing.

On Thursday, the “bhog” ceremony and “antim ardas” were organised for the veteran leader in his village.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Sukhbir Badal said he had no words to thank the community for showing love to his father and the family.

Speaking about the 70 years of public life of Parkash Singh Badal, the SAD chief said his father was a nationalist.

“He always said the country is strong if Punjab and ‘Khalsa Panth’ is strong.”

“He was secular,” Sukhbir Badal said, adding his father always walked on the path shown by the Sikh gurus.

He also followed the message of “sarbat da bhala” (welfare of all) and respected all religions.

Sukhbir Badal said his father always gave the message of peace, harmony and mutual brotherhood.

He dedicated his life to serving the farming community and the poor, the SAD chief said.

Sukhbir Badal said he will always try to walk on the path shown by his father.

“I also seek forgiveness from ‘Khalsa Panth’ and Punjabis if I or my family or elders committed any mistake inadvertently or otherwise,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, Indian National Lok Dal chief and former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala said, “We had family relations with Badal sahab. He always gave me love. I learnt a lot from him and kept taking inspiration from him.”

“Today, Badal sahab may not be amongst us, but I want to assure you all that we will follow the path shown by him,” Chautala said, adding the Akali Dal patriarch taught everyone to live in harmony.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Harjinder Singh Dhami also paid tribute to Badal.

He also raised the issue of ‘Bandi Singhs’ (Sikh prisoners) and said it was the wish of the former chief minister that they should be released in his lifetime. Dhami raised this issue in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The issue came up a day after the Supreme Court declined to commute the death penalty of Balwant Singh Rajoana, a convict in former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh’s assassination case.

The SGPC has been seeking the release of the Sikh prisoners who, it claims, continue to be in different jails despite completion of their sentences.

Former Punjab finance minister and Sukhbir Badal’s cousin Manpreet Singh Badal called Badal a protector of rights of farmers and the poor.

Senior SAD leader Prem Singh Chandumajra said Badal was the father of modern Punjab and had done the most for farmers and weaker sections of society.

Chandumajra also reached out to Manpreet Badal, saying he should “reunite” with Sukhbir Badal.

Manpreet Badal had left the Akali Dal over a decade ago and had formed his own outfit which he later merged with the Congress. However, early this year, he joined the BJP.

Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said Badal had remained the strongest votary of federalism throughout his life.

“Badal sahab believed strong states would make a strong nation and also felt that undue central interference in state subjects would only weaken the nation,” said the jathedar.

He said the late leader also strongly believed in the importance of regional parties as they best echoed the aspirations of the people.

Cairo: A horrific crime shook the Egyptian street on Friday, as a mother killed her 5-year-old son, then cooked his corpse and ate parts of his head, local media reported.

A woman identified as 29-year-old Hanaa, separated from her husband for about 3 years, had been living alone with her son in her own house in the village belonging to the Faqous Center in Sharkia Governorate.

According to Egyptian Daily Cairo 24, Hanaa was arrested by the police after her son’s body parts were found in buckets at her home.

  • Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank calls Modi ‘nalayak’

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank calls Modi ‘nalayak’

    [ad_1]

Kalaburagi: Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s son and party leader Priyank Kharge on Monday dubbed Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘nalayak’ drawing the ire of BJP brass while the grand old party asserted that such a remark was never made by him.

Priyank, seeking reelection from Chittapur in Kalaburagi district said Modi claiming to be a son of the Banjara community and promising to take care of them was “inept” because he and his party had created confusion about reservations for the SC community.

His remark comes days after Mallikarjun Kharge’s “venomous snake” barb aimed at PM Modi.

    MS Education Academy

BJP president J P Nadda said opposition leaders have been using such language against the Prime Minister to “please” their masters, a reference to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said: “In a state of despair of losing the election, he (Priyank) has forgotten his limits. A few days ago, his father withdrew his words. Now, it’s his turn. People will teach them a lesson.”

Mallikarjun Kharge stoutly defended his son and said he never made such comments. The Congress president said: “No. No. It is very wrong. He never said it. Don’t put these words into his mouth. He attacked the parliament member (not Modi) who abused him. So, don’t put these words into his mouth (saying it was meant) for Modi. I am sorry, everywhere this is going on (misquoting) purposely. Morning he (Priyank) condemned it but still you people are asking.”

Priyank, addressing a poll gathering quoted from Modi’s speech and said: “When you (PM Modi) came to Gulbarga (Kalaburagi) what did you tell the people of Banjara community? “Aap sab log dariye mat. Banjara ka ek beta Dilli mein Baitha hai (You do not be afraid. A son of Banjara is sitting in Delhi).”

“Aisa nalayak beta baitha to kaise hota bhai? Ghar kaise chalega?” (If an inept son is sitting in Delhi, how can you run the family?), he asked.

Priyank further said though Modi claimed to be the son of the Banjara community, confusion was created on reservation by the BJP regime in Karnataka.

“Didn’t injustice happen to the Banjara community? Why were stones thrown at Yediyurappa’s house in Shikaripura (in Shivamogga district)? Why Bandh was observed in Kalaburagi and Jewargi? Today there is confusion in the reservation,” the Congress leader claimed.

Priyank, who had been a minister in the Siddaramaiah government said, “The Prime Minister during his earlier visit said he was a son of the Koli community and the Kabbaliga and Kuruba communities. Today he calls himself a son of the Banjara community.”

At the fag end of its term, the BJP government passed a bill to increase the reservation for the Scheduled Castes from 15 per cent to 17 per cent and provide for internal quota for SC communities. It led to a furore among sections of people like Banjaras who feared that their share in the quota pie would get reduced due to internal reservation. The BJP has said time and again that the quota has only been increased and blamed the Congress for misinformation campaign.

Speaking to reporters, Nadda said the Congress is going through “mental bankruptcy” and its leaders have been following the Gandhi family in using derogatory language against the Prime Minister. “They are doing so to please their senior leaders.”

The BJP president claimed the Congress has already lost the election in the southern state and that is why “venom” is coming out from its’ leaders who are in “frustration”.

People do not approve of such language and their love for the Prime Minister has been growing, he said.

BJP IT department head Amit Malviya took a swipe at Priyank Kharge, asking what would he be doing if he was not the son of Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president?

“It is anybody’s guess! It is quite rich for someone who is feeding off his father’s name, to call a democratically elected PM ‘nalayak’. It is fine to disagree with the PM, criticise him, but calling him names shows a depraved mind. Junior Kharge should focus on defending his seat and not punch above his weight,” he tweeted.

  • Court slams Delhi police inaction on father’s 2014 plaint regarding missing son

Court slams Delhi police inaction on father’s 2014 plaint regarding missing son

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: It has been more than nine years since Ram Kishor lodged a missing report of his son Deepak Kumar but all the questions remain unanswered even today.

It would not be unfair to say that the police’s approach in the matter has been indifferent. Time and again, the courts have pulled up the police for shoddy investigation, and the case is no different here.

The case stems from a missing report Kumar’s father had lodged on August 4, 2014. According to him, Kumar did not return home after he went out two days before the complaint was filed.

    MS Education Academy

The complainant (Kumar’s father) has been running from pillar to post since 2014, but the Delhi police conducted only an allegedly sham investigation in the initial year of lodging the First Information Report (FIR) and thereafter stopped investigating at all.

Multiple representations have been submitted by the complainant to police officials but to no avail.

In 2018, the complainant approached the Delhi High Court, which directed that the final report be filed within 12 weeks.

“That was also done and we lodged a contempt plea. It is only after we lodged the contempt, that the Delhi police filed an Untrace Report in 2019 stating that nothing could be found,” advocate Namit Saxena said.

After the court issued notice on the police’s untrace report, a protest petition was filed by the complainant.

Last year, a reply to the protest petition was filed by the police stating that all possible efforts to trace the victim have been made. However, no clue or information regarding the boy could be found.

Directing further investigation in the matter, Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) of Saket Courts Akshay Sharma has allowed the protest petition.

“…this court is of the opinion that matter be remanded back for further investigation in a proper manner and report be filed within reasonable time without further delay as the present case pertains to the year, 2014. Accordingly, the present protest petition is allowed,” Sharma said.

After five years of FIR registration, when the police filed its untrace report in 2019, it was stated by the investigation agency that due to continuous efforts of searching for the victim this delay of years has occurred.

“…perusal of the record does not reflect the continuous efforts which is stated to be the reason for delay,” the court noted.

It is also noteworthy that the complainant had received an extortion call demanding Rs 10 lakh, which was made to him by the alleged accused O.P. Thakur and that aspect has not been investigated by the police.

The police has merely stated in the untrace report and the reply to the protest petition that upon interrogation, nothing incriminatory was discovered against the suspected
    individuals.

“Though no formal interrogation report or any statement u/s 161 CrPC of any of the suspected alleged accused persons was recorded by the concerned IOs. Thus the basis on which the alleged accused persons have been exonerated by the investigation agency remains unexplained,” the court stated.

Slamming the Investigating Officers (IOs) for believing whatever the alleged suspects stated was the gospel truth, the court said that it was imperative for the concerned IOs to record the statement of the suspected individuals to incline this court to believe in the bona fide efforts undertaken for investigation of this case.

In conclusion, the court stated that “proper investigation has not been conducted in the instant case as the aspect of extortion as alleged by the complainant has not been investigated into, no investigation regarding the bike of Deepak found near a canal has been conducted, no investigation as to the fact that why Himanshu was using the ATM card of victim Deepak on frequent basis is conducted and no details of withdrawing money from victim’s bank account is placed on record”.

“No formal interrogation report or any statement under Section 161 of Criminal Procedure Code is recorded by the concerned IOs,” the court noted while allowing the protest petition by remanding back the case for further investigation.

In the teaser, a paintbrush is seen on the floor and presumably, Shah Rukh picks it up, although the camera’s angle changes before the face is revealed. Towards the end, SRK’s face appears for a split second.

    MS Education Academy

Sharing the video, Aryan wrote, “ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVW_YZ X will be here in 24 hours…Follow @dyavol.x for exclusive content.”

The clip garnered loads of likes and comments.

Aryan’s sister Suhana dropped a string of red heart emojis in the comment section.

“Best wishes to you Aryan,” a social media user commented.

A few months ago, Aryan announced on Instagram that he has completed the writing of his first project which he will also be directing.

Previously, in 2019, Shah Rukh appeared on David Letterman’s talk show, where he talked about his son Aryan’s career ambitions. On ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman’, Shah Rukh told the eponymous host that Aryan doesn’t want to be an actor.

Shah Rukh said though his son is a ‘good writer,’ he doesn’t have what it takes to be an actor.

“He (Aryan) doesn’t have what it takes to be an actor and he realises that too but he’s a good writer… I think wanting to be an actor has to come from within. Something you really need to do and find a set of skills that helps you do it and learn it. But I think I realised it from him when he said that to me,” Shah Rukh had said.

On the other hand, Suhana is following in her father’s footsteps. She is all set to make her acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s film ‘The Archies’.

Based on the backdrop of the 1960s, the film also marks the debut of producer Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor and megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda.

The film will exclusively stream on Netflix. The film is the Indian adaptation of the iconic comics ‘The Archies’. Produced by Tiger Baby and Graphic India, ‘The Archies’ is a coming-of-age story that will introduce the teenagers of Riverdale to a new generation in India. Man kills paramour’s toddler son by putting him into bucket of boiling water

    [ad_1]

Pune: A man allegedly killed the 15-month-son of a woman with whom he had illicit relations by putting him into a bucket of boiling water in Maharashtra’s Pune district, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on April 6 at Shet Pimpalgaon village near Chakan and the boy succumbed to burn injuries during treatment on April 18, they said.

The man, who was arrested two days back, was miffed with the woman as she was not ready to marry him, police inspector Vaibhav Shingare said.

    MS Education Academy

“Investigations revealed that when the woman was not at home, the accused allegedly put the boy into a bucket of boiling water, and he later cooked up a story that the child accidentally hit the bucket and hot water fell on him,” the official said.

The woman’s sister had seen the accused putting the boy into the boiling water bucket, but she was threatened by the accused, he said.

“After the boy’s death, the woman’s sister informed her about what actually happened during the incident. Subsequently, the boy’s mother approached the police with a complaint and a case was registered against the man under Indian Penal Code Section 302 (murder),” the official said.

The man has been arrested and further investigation is underway, he added.
