    SIU Produced Charge Sheet Against Five Militant Associates

    SRINAGAR: The State Investigation Unit (SIU) Shopian presented a charge sheet against five accused persons on Wednesday.

    A police spokesman said that the SIU presented a charge sheet in a case FIR number 83/2022 U/S 17,18,20, 23 & 39 UA (P) Act, 7/25 I.A. Act of Police Station Kellar before the Court of Special Judge Kulgam (designated under NIA Act), against five accused persons.

    “The accused persons include Aaqib Hussain Nanda son of Aashiq Hussain Nanda, Gowhar Manzoor Bhat son of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, residents of Drabgam Pulwama, Aasif Lateef son of Lateef Ahmed Naik resident of Babapora Zainapora, Afloq Yousuf Digoo son of Mohd Yousuf Digoo & Umer Hussain Dar son of Mohammad Amin Dar, residents of Naina Batpora, Pulwama.

    They were part of conspiracy well hatched by accused active militant Raqeeb-Ul-lah resident of Pakistan (linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT) and accused Late Uzair Ashraf son of Mohd Ashraf Dar resident of Melhora Shopian of militant outfit LeT (now killed),” he said.

    Worth to mention here that in the previous year, two militant associates of LeT namely Gowhar Manzoor Bhat & Aaqib Hussain Nanda were apprehended at a checkpoint jointly laid by Police, CRPF & Army at village Gulabtang Keller. From their possession, incriminating materials, arms & ammunition, cash were recovered by the joint party.

    During investigation, three more militant associates namely Asif Lateef, Afloq Yousuf & Umer Hussain Dar were arrested besides involvement of one militant namely Uzair Ashraf (now Killed) also surfaced.

    During the course of further investigation, it has been found that the above mentioned accused persons were working as militant associates on the instance of one Pakistani based active militant namely Raqeeb-ul-lah of proscribed militant outfit LeT.

    The investigation conducted has revealed that the accused persons had developed links with the active militants and were providing them all kind of support knowingly. They were found active supporters of LeT, police said.

    SIU Shopian will continue investigation on other parts of the case so that accused persons are produced before Court for justice, police said.(KNO)

    SRINAGAR: Special Investigation Unit of Kashmir Police is conducting searches at Kakapora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday morning.

    Official sources said that searches are underway at Kakapora in the house of Ab Aziz Dar son of Ghulam Mohd Dar.

    Ab Aziz is the father of LeT commander Reyaz Ahmad Dar, who has been active for 8 years and is believed to be one of the oldest surviving militants.

    The searches are conducted in connection with case FIR No. 239/2022 of Police station Pulwama, they said.(GNS)

    Srinagar, Mar 13 (GNS): State Investigation Unit (SIU) on Monday attached house of a person accused for his alleged involvement in militant activities in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

    “The Investigation Unit attached house of one Mohammad Ishaq Malik son of Mohammad Saifullah Malik, resident of Dhanwetehpora Kokernag, under section 25 of UA(P)A, for his Allegedly involvement in militant activities”, an SIU spokesperson in a statement issued to GNS said.

    The accused, the statement reads, is involved in case FIR number 103/2022 under section 307 IPC, 7/27 Arms Act 18, 20, 23, 38 UAP Act of Police Station Kokernag and is presently lodged in District Jail Anantnag.

    “SIU went to the specific location under a posse of security men and pasted the notice on the house in the presence of Local Sarpanches, Panches and Chowkidars. According to the notice, the owner of the house have been restrained to ‘transfer, lease out, dispose off, change its nature or deal with the said property in any manner without the permission of designated authority”, reads the statement further.     Srinagar, Feb 27: Authorities are attaching four houses in Srinagar and Anantnag districts in connection with a militancy case, officials said on Monday.

    A senior police officer told GNS that State Investigation Unit of police is attaching three houses at Barthana Qamarwi Srinagar and one at Sangam Anantnag.

    The cction by the authorities was taken in connection with case (FIR no. 127/22), the officer said.

    The case pertains to recovery of arms and ammunition from members of TRF group, the officer.(GNS)

    JAMMU: Commissioner State Taxes, Dr Rashmi Singh, inaugurated office facility for Special Investigation Unit of the department at Excise and State Taxes building.

    Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner exhorted upon the SIU to detect fraudulent practices through analysis of data patterns in order to detect wilful evasion by risky dealers to facilitate genuine taxpayers and improve compliance thereof.

    Pertinently, the State Taxes Department J&K has recently constituted an in-house intelligence wing on the lines of best practises being followed by Central agencies besides other States and UTs. The objective of establishing SIU is to ensure a dedicated source of information and intelligence through logical and state of the art data analytics.

    Additional Commissioner, State Taxes (Tax Planning, Policy and Advance Ruling) J&K, Ankita Kar highlighted significant work undertaken by the nascent unit since its inception in detecting cases through IT based intelligence gathering contributing towards revenue augmentation.

    The inaugural ceremony was attended by senior officers of the department along with representatives from Central Indirect Taxes authorities.

    The program witnessed vibrant discussion on procedures and best practises that need to be adapted by the State Taxes Department, J&K from across Centre, States and Union Territories to make it more responsive and accountable.
