    Govt to launch Rs 2,200-crore Aatmanirbhar clean plant programme: Sitharaman

    New Delhi: The government will launch a Rs 2,200-crore Aatmanirbhar clean plant program, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Wednesday.

    Presenting the Budget for 2023-24, she said an agriculture accelerator fund will also be set up to encourage agri-startups in rural areas.

    She further said to enhance the yield of extra-long staple cotton, the government will adopt a cluster-based and value-chain approach.

    The government will also support the Hyderabad-based millet institute as a center of excellence.

    At the behest of the government, United Nations declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets, with an aim to create awareness and increase the production and consumption of grain.

  • Nirmala Sitharaman repeats Saree to prove she indeed belongs to middle class

    Ahead of the Union Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that she is aware of the pressures of the middle class as she herself belong to middle class. She added that the present government has not imposed any fresh taxes on them.

     

    However, netizens disagreed with her and used social media to express their views. A majority of social media users mocked Finance Minister for calling herself middle class when she’s the finance minister of the country with over $3 trillion economy.

     

    Without replying to any social media user, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman silently took a dig on her critics by repeating a saree that she wore earlier. Reportedly, Nirmala Sitharaman repeated the saree to prove that she indeed belongs to middle class.

     

    Nirmala Sitharaman also updated her pronouns on her twitter account to Middle/Class. Nirmala Sitharama didn’t stop there and talked about rising inflation to prove that she’s as middle class as one could be.
