    Hyderabad: Three persons including a child from Yakutpura in the old city who had gone for a picnic to Nenturu Tank in Wargal mandal of Siddipet drowned while taking a selfie on Thursday.

    According to the Wargal police, Sheik Khaisar (26), his nephew Sheik Mustafa (03) and his cousin Mohammad Sohail (17), all from Yakutpura of Hyderabad city along with their family members came to Maktha, Masanpally to attend a function.

    “They went to a tank near Nenturu, where Khaisar stepped inside the tank carrying Mustafa to take a selfie using his mobile phone. When both slipped into the water, Sohail attempted to rescue them and all three drowned,” said an official of Wargal police station.

    Hyderabad: The four-bed daycare chemotherapy centre was inaugurated by state health minister Harish Rao at Siddipet on Sunday.

    With the inauguration, cancer patients can come for treatment here rather than travelling to MNJ Cancer Hospital or the NIMS in Hyderabad.

    The state government will provide medical care worth Rs 4 lakhs free of charge to every cancer patient referred here, including CBP, RFT, LFT tests. Along with providing 60 different types of medicines, the centre will provide tele-consultation services.

    According to reports, Siddipet district contains 468 cancer patients, including breast cancer, cervical cancer, oral cancer, lung cancer, rectum cancer, and thyroid cancer to name a few.

    Through the Arogyashri scheme, the government has spent over 800 crores on cancer care since 2014, with MNJ and NIMS hospitals providing essential treatment to cancer patients across the state. The government is taking steps to develop MNJ Hospital as a state cancer centre, with advanced equipment like True BEAM and PET scans.

    Palliative care services are being provided by the state government in 33 districts to terminally ill patients.

    In addition to this welfare schemes such as the Telangana Diagnostic Scheme and Telangana Health Profile Scheme offers state-of-the-art services required for detecting cancer at the primary stage.

    Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao praised the KCR government for its consistent efforts in creating awareness regarding the disease and urging citizens to practise a healthy lifestyle.

    “With its tireless efforts in cancer care, the Telangana government is leading the way in cancer prevention, detection, and treatment, thus bringing hope to millions of families,” he said.

    Hyderabad: Cancer patients in Siddipet will soon have access to a chemotherapy facility at the local Government Hospital with the health department’s installation of equipment for a four-bed chemotherapy day care center.

    Health minister T Harish Rao directed the health department to set up a facility in Siddipet. In the past, majority of patients had to travel to either the MNJ Cancer Hospital or the NIMS in Hyderabad for treatment, which required a lot of effort and money.

    The health minister has taken this decision to ensure that the Cancer patients receive proper healthcare without having to put up with frequent long distance travel.

    However, patients would have to go to NIMS or MNJ for first and second chemotherapy sessions. After the third session, they can avail the chemotherapy facilities at the Government Hospital.

    According to Harish Rao, the treatment would be provided at no cost. In private hospitals, patients will need to spend between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 for each session.

    Hyderabad: Dressed in an auto driver’s uniform, driving an autorickshaw, Telangana finance minister T Harish Rao arrived at the Siddipet Auto Credit Cooperative Society meeting to express solidarity with the auto driver community.

    Lauding the services rendered by the auto drivers, the minister addressed them as brand ambassadors of Siddipet as they carry out multiple tasks from taking tourists safely to their destinations, tour guiding them while they are on their way and also in many cases shifting injured passengers to hospitals before the ambulance arrives.

    While addressing auto drivers and their family members to mark the fourth anniversary of the society, Harish Rao said that the society was increasing the credit limit to Rs 15,000 from the existing Rs 10,000, besides enhancing the marriage incentive to Rs 5,000 from the current Rs 3,500.

    Harish Rao also declared setting up a petrol bunk for the auto drivers society so that they could get petrol at cheaper rates and assured them of a permanent building in addition to setting up an auto nagar.

    He stated that auto drivers earlier blended money from private money lenders by paying a huge interest rate, until four years ago. The minister said that the society has helped the drivers consolidate financially in the last four years.

    Harish Rao further promised prize money of Rs 25,000 for children of auto drivers if they scored 10 out of 10 GPA in the SSC examination.

    69 super specialists to be recruited as patients flood medical college hospital in Nizamabad

    Harish Rao on Sunday said that the Nizamabad Government Medical College will soon be allocated 29 senior doctors who will provide super speciality services to cater to the increasing number of patients in the district.

    “Telangana government will recruit 40 specialised doctors to work in various departments in Mahabubnagar Government Medical College and Hospital, in view of the patient inflow increasing,” he said.

    Remarking that patients were earlier forced to go to big cities for quality medical care, the mister said that with new medical colleges and super speciality hospital services made available for the people in every district, the issue has been tackled.

    “As part of this endeavour, the state government will soon open nine more medical colleges this year, in addition to the 17 such existing colleges,” Harish said.

    Emphasising the availability of seats to medical students, the minister said, “Telangana has become a role model for the country in the field of healthcare. Also, people’s trust in government hospitals has increased significantly.”

    Hyderabad: Health kits named ‘Morbidity Management and Disability Prevention Kits’, comprising medicines and soaps for daily use were distributed to filariasis patients in Siddipet on Thursday.

    Telangana health minister T Harish Rao, while addressing the launch of the kits said, “Filariasis patients would be given medicine once every three months so that the disease could be controlled from aggravating.”

    “The state government has spent Rs 40 lakh to distribute the kits as the district had 8,121 identified patients,” added the minister.

    Stating that the Telangana government was the first in the country to give pensions to filariasis patients, he announced the launch of health clinics by the state government, across the district to regularly attend to these patients.

    “The patients could also walk into his house any time if they needed pension or treatment,” said Harish Rao.

    After calling on the patients to utilise the Kanti Velugu camp facilities, Harish Rao went on to inaugurate new Laparoscopy equipment and other machinery presented by the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) to the Siddipet government hospital.

    Later, he interacted with patients and doctors during the visit and reviewed the performance of the hospital while suggesting the staff place a screen in the hall so that pregnant women could practice meditation during their inpatient stays.

    The minister also distributed cheques to beneficiaries of the Shadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi schemes at the MLA camp office in the district.

    Hyderabad: Telangana health and family welfare minister T Harish Rao on Monday presided over a meeting on road safety measures to be taken up in Siddipet district. Siddipet commissioner of police Sweta presented a comparative analysis on road accidents in Siddipet district as part of the meeting.

    Harish Rai directed health department officials to study the Tamil Nadu model which he said significantly helped in reducing the fatalities on roads.

    The Telangana health minister stated that signages and speed breakers should be put in place on accident prone areas on the Siddipet – Hyderabad road. Harish Rao asked the officials to notify hospitals in government and private sectors as designated trauma care centres and also directed officials to upload them in the state’s portal.

    Officials from the Roads and Buildings department were also asked to develop service roads and take up illumination of islands on the Gajwel Outer ring Road. Officers briefed Harish Rao about the various black spots identified in the district and the measures taken to prevent accidents in these areas, said a press release from his office.

    A state level committee on the road safety committee has been constituted and similar committees are also functioning at the district level which meet regularly to chalk out an action plan to prevent accidents, the release added.

    The minister, while speaking at the event said that a total of 158 kinds of medicines in these Dawakhanas apart from 133 diagnostic services were being offered.

    “A cath lab, chemo, and radiotherapy services would be made available to provide medical treatment to the poor on par with those available in corporate hospitals in the state,” added Harish Rao.

    “A palliative centre and a five-bed ward for terminally ill cancer patients have been set up apart from Amma Odi vehicle for pregnant women and infants, vehicle for terminally ill cancer patients, 108 ambulance service to provide emergency medical services besides Parampara to carry the bodies of poor dead patients from hospital to cremation grounds,” he added.

    Launching the concept of Basthi Dawakhanas in Hyderabad by setting up 350 of these clinics across the state, Harish Rao said the health department had so far offered services to over two crore people.

    The minister later visited a Kanti Velugu camp at Bara Imama Junction in Siddipet town wher he called upon elected representatives to guide the patients in need of surgeries, to visit LV Prasad Hospital.

    Hyderabad: The Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 17 crore to build an ultra-modern permanent building for the Residential Degree College for Women in Siddipet.

    The government allotted to the college a private building in Cheryial town. A spacious campus will be established apart from taking up the college building construction for which the Siddipet district administration has allotted 6 acres of land between Velugupally and Mittapally villages in Siddipet urban Mandal.

    In a press statement on Sunday, Telangana’s Finance minister T Harish Rao said the Women’s Degree College would add to the host of educational institutions in Siddipet making it a center for education.

    Students would be accommodated in the new college as the construction of the residential college building would be completed before the beginning of the next academic year.
