Pahalgam Set To Shine On Tamil Cinema: Shooting Commences

SRINAGAR: Days after the famous Bollywood duo Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhat landed in the world-famous ski resort of Gulmarg to shoot one of the movie’s songs, filmmakers of Tamil industry – Kollywood, reached south Kashmir’s Pahalgam to shoot for their upcoming action movie.
People with the knowhow of things said that two famous super-stars of the Tamil film industry, Vijay Chandrasekhar and Trisha Krishnan are shooting in the health resort Pahalgam for their upcoming movie “Leo” – a gangster action film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
One of the crew members talking exclusively to GNS confirmed the shooting of the movie and praised the people of Kashmir, terming them hard-working, hospitable, loveable, and helpful.
He said we struggled a bit while shooting in minus 13-14 degrees, but it was people of this area who cooperated with us in making our shoot smooth and now it is working all fine for us.
“Each early morning, they join us”, he said, adding they are hard workers and we are happy to work with them.
Terming Kashmir as the best location for shooting, he said that filmmakers across India should switch to this beautiful place to shoot their movies, songs, and other work as this place has all the potential one needs in the industry.
In a message to filmmakers, he said, “The union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, with its breathtaking beauty and an incredible landscape dotted with meadows, valleys, high altitude passes, dense forests, lakes, apple orchards, and snow-capped peaks, provides just the picture-perfect setting for shooting a film.”(GNS)

Alia and Ranveer Spotted Shooting In Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Pictures of Alia Bhat and Ranveer Singh emerged from the hill station of Gulmarg where the duo is busy shooting for their upcoming movie, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
The crew is currently in Kashmir to shoot a romantic number in the snow capped mountains of Kashmir. The shooting of film is in its final stages and the crew is expected to wind up by March 10.
As per media buzz, the song will be a tribute to the late film maker Yash Chopra, who Karan idolizes. Ranveer and Alia will recreate the looks of Sridevi and Rishi Kappor from the film Chandini directed by ace director Yash Chopra in late 1980’s.
The film which is being directed by Karan Johar also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi and is produced by Dharma Productions. The film is slated to release on July 28, 2023.

Trucker Injured After Hit By Shooting Stone along Panthayal in Ramban

Srinagar, Mar 5 (GNS): A truck driver was injured after hit by a shooting stone along Panthayal in Ramban district, officials said.
They told GNS that the area has been witnessing intermittent shooting stones for quite a while now and one such stone hit a truck driver, leaving him injured besides damaging the vehicle.
The injured driver, they said, was given first aid by a local NGO, following which he was evacuated from the site to a nearby health facility for treatment. (GNS)

Karan Johar Shifts His Song’s Shooting From Switzerland To Kashmir

SRINAGAR: After a hiatus of seven years, film maker Karan Johar is all set to shoot the last pending romantic song of his movie Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, in the snow clad mountains of Kashmir.
Directed by Karan Johar, the epic love story stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles.
As per the latest buzz, the song will be a tribute to the late film maker Yash Chopra, who Karan idolizes. Ranveer and Alia will recreate the looks of Sridevi and Rishi Kappor from the film Chandini directed by ace director Yash Chopra in late 1980’s. Alia will be seen donning chiffon sarees while Ranveer for a change will be in the formal attire.
The romantic song will be shot in Kashmir in a ten-day schedule beginning on March 1. The crew has already left for Kashmir while Karan will leave for the valley with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt on February 28 and join the crew.
Karan Johar wanted to film the song in Switzerland but after Alia Bhatt’s pregnancy he moved it to Kashmir as the film maker believes that snow has same feel in Kashmir as it has in Switzerland.
Alia will be accompanied by her baby Raha for the ten-day shooting schedule.
With this song in Kashmir, the entire shooting of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, a tribute to Karan’s favourite director Yash Chopra, will be complete.

Florida journalist shot to death covering shooting from earlier in the day

“I want to acknowledge what a horrible day this has been for our community and our media partners,” Mina told a room full of reporters. “I work closely with all of you and know many of you and know the the very difficult job that you do and also the very important job that you do for our community and for law enforcement. No one in our community — not a mother, not a 9-year-old and certainly not news professionals — should become the victim of gun violence in our community.”
Mina said they don’t immediately have a motive for any of the shootings.
Deputies had initially responded to the Pine Hills area, just northwest of Orlando, on Wednesday morning following reports of a woman in her 20s being shot.
According to witnesses, a man approached the news vehicle later Wednesday and opened fire and then walked to a nearby home and shot the mother and daughter.
Mina said Moses is already facing a murder charge for the initial victim, and charges are expected soon for the other four victims. Moses’ criminal history includes gun charges, as well as aggravated battery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and grand theft offenses, the sheriff said.
Spectrum News 13 is not yet identifying the crew members who were involved in the shooting, according to a story on the TV station’s website.

Highway Remains Closed As Shooting Stones Continue In Banihal

Srinagar, Feb 22: The strategic Jammu-Srinagar highway continues to be shut as shooting stones continued to hamper road clearance work at Shalgadi Banihal in Ramban district on Wednesday, officials said.
“Highway is still closed. Restoration work is underway. People are advised not to travel on highway till the restoration work is completed,” a traffic department official here told GNS. However, he said that the shooting stones continue to hamper the road clearance work.
The highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with the outside world, was closed on Tuesday due amid heavy landslides in the area and the situation was described “dire” by the officials. (GNS)

Kashmir bound trucks laden with essential supplies and other vehicles pass through the highway and fruit carrying trucks from the valley head for rest of the country through this road.

El Paso shooting near Walmart where 23 were killed brings ‘traumatic memories’

One person was killed and three wounded on Wednesday in a shooting at a shopping mall in El Paso, Texas, close to a Walmart where 23 people were killed in a racist attack targeting Hispanic people in 2019.
El Paso police said two people had been taken into custody. Details of what led to the shooting remained unclear.
The interim El Paso police chief, Peter Pacillas, said the Cielo Vista Mall was still considered a crime scene, and would remain locked down until authorities had completed their investigation.
“There is no more danger. I want to repeat that: There is no more danger to the public,” Pacillas said.
The shooting took place across a large parking lot from the Walmart where 23 people were killed in 2019. El Paso, with a largely Latino population of about 700,000 people, sits on the US border with Mexico.
“Today’s shooting at the Cielo Vista Mall has brought back traumatic memories for many of us,” the Democratic congresswoman Veronica Escobar, whose district includes El Paso, said on Twitter. “Please know you are not alone.”
She urged anyone who needed it to reach out to the city’s crisis help line.
In 2022, more than 600 mass shootings occurred in the US, in which at least four people were killed or wounded, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

The US has seen dozens killed in such shootings in 2023, most recently on Monday at Michigan State University, where three students were killed and five wounded.
In January, 11 people were killed in Monterey Park, a Los Angeles-area city, as they welcomed the Lunar New Year at a dance hall popular with older Asian Americans.
Pacillas said the two people taken into custody after the El Paso shooting and all the victims were males.
University Medical Center in El Paso said two gunshot victims there were in critical condition. The condition of the third victim was not immediately known.
Police said the shooting was reported in the shopping mall’s food court.
Authorities set up a reunification center at a nearby high school for those affected by the shooting. The FBI was assisting El Paso police.
The Republican governor, Greg Abbott, said he had spoken to the mayor of El Paso and offered state assistance.
